Bill Clinton lashes out at Vanity Fair reporter

Bill Clinton is not happy with the way a new magazine article portrays him.

Bill Clinton is not happy with the way a new magazine article portrays him.

(CNN) - Hillary Clinton's campaign Monday apologized for "inappropriate" language used by her husband in response to a Vanity Fair article that quoted anonymous sources questioning the former president's behavior since leaving the White House. (Listen to Clinton's comments Monday.)

The article, by the magazine's national editor Todd Purdum, suggested that Bill Clinton's personality had changed since his 2004 heart bypass surgery and said that there were reports of Clinton "seeing a lot of women on the road."

Purdum quoted four former Clinton aides saying that another of his former assistants had conducted "what one of these aides called an intervention" about the reports of philandering.

A writer for the Huffington Post, Mayhill Fowler, asked Clinton on Monday what he thought "about that hatchet job somebody did on you in Vanity Fair," according to a recording of the exchange posted on the Huffington Post's Web site.

"(He's) sleazy," Clinton responded. "He's a really dishonest reporter." (Earlier: Journalist defends article slamming Bill Clinton)

Bill Clinton has every right to be made about this. I'm glad he used the strong language he did. For some shisters like Purdum, it is the only language they understand. Keep it up Bill and creeps of the media that you will not put up with this slander.

Hillary said that she has minor differences with Obama, and her differences with McCain are gigantic, yet you fools are threatening to vote for McCain? "Take your ball and go home politics"…lol.

FYI: The press beat up on Hillary because she was ridiculous and ran a bad campaign, not because she was a "woman."

I voted twice for Bill and he did a good job as president. However, I also agree with a late mutual friend, a fairly famous man for whom Bill gave the eulogy at his memorial service in 2000, who said to me just a few months before he died, "Clinton is a sociopath" and I agree. We just don't need him around the White House at his point, even as First Laddie. Go Obama.

  6. Hillary 08, the electable candidate

This is just a ploy by the Obama camp to make sure Superdelegates don't switch back to Hillary.

Obama is a dirty player... Just read the article that this news station had on here recently which discussed Obama's ruthlessness to win the IL Senate position by having all other candidates disqualified so he could run unopposed.

CNN, MSNBC, we the people see through your bias. Obama is not a new style of politician, he's the dirtiest kind.

Say no to the hype... Hillary has real solutions.

  8. What if?

Yes, Bill we believe you are telling the truth about Vanity Fair and Obama trashing your wife……NOT! Bill you are her worst trash talker.

WHY is it that Obama is blamed for everything, everyone talking about Hillary was treated wrong, Bill snaps and anger is out of control, blame Obama & media, a white (not black) preacher mocks her, blame Obama (I don't think it matter what church he would have preach this sermon at), the media report something about her, blame the media and Obama and if she lose in a state, blame Obama. When will she be held responsible for her own actions?

She won in PUERTO RICO because most of their family members live in New York, and Vanity Fair has not been published...

These bottom-feeders should be taken to task for this low-life article–they are cowards of the worst ilk-no names to back up the evidence–how low can you go news media? Another reason to vote against the radical left!

Bill... STOP IT!!! Stop blaming Obama for everything wrong in Clinton land. He did not sleep with Monica, he did not steal white house furniture, he did not lie to a grand jury, he did not compare Hillary to Jesse Jackson, He Did Not Get Impeached and finally, HE DID NOT WRITE THE LIKELY TRUTHFUL ARTICAL IN VANITY FAIR. Stop Hating OBAMA! He has not wronged the Clinton's in anyway other than win the Democratic nomination. It's one thing to try to cast blame to gain a political advantage when running for president, but you have lost now. Everyone keeps talking about how hard Hillary is taking the loss, but I actually think it's you. Some how you saw this as you becoming president again. Well it didn't happen. Get over it angry man.

Bill, if he is wrong, sue him for libel, don't just use strongly worded objections.

... the fact that you are making this big of a stink of it... and are NOT suing for libel... seems to me that it's an indication he's *right*...

I wonder why it's inappropriate to simply say it like it is. Clinton's personal flaws that led to his disgraceful behavior was not a matter of public policy. His administration's public policy led us to 8 years of peace and prosperity. He worked with both sides of the isle to reform welfare in a way that provided job training to prevent the economic hardships we have seen with the Current Occupant. Clinton was and is well respected in the world. The media simply cannot stand it. They must distort and pull apart every sentence uttered by Bill or Hillary until the meaning is completely unrecognizable. Then, a lazy public just sucks up the spoon-fed nonsense. It's so much easier than thinking.

I don't know why we have elections at all! Why don't we just ask the media whom they plan to elevate and whom they plan to destroy? It would save a lot of money and time.

  14. Is that Cat Daddy Lying Again

As dishonest as you when you said, "I did not have sex with that woman"?

And "I never touched that woman"?

And "It all depends what the meaning of IS... IS"?

Or perhaps when your wife said: "... and my father ... he worked a fulltime job since the age of 11... 😀 and my mother worked a fulltime job since the age of 13 so I stand on their shoulders and understand the meaning of hard work"?

How about that Bosnia tale? 😀 Or Ireland? Or China?

If you looked up CLINTONS in the dictionary you'll see Clintons crossed out and replaced by the word dishonest!

THIS from the same man who 'didn't have sexual relations' with Monica???? Who managed to lie straight-faced for months??? Uh-huh. He may have managed to balancing a budget (more than what his wife appears to be able to do) but honor and integrity were never really his strong points.

  17. REPUBLICAN FOR BARACK OBAMA

THANK YOU BILL CLINTON for campaigning for Hillary. I want to also thank DICK CHENEY.

Bill you are a disgrace. The thought of you ever going back into the White House is disgusting. I expect the females you were involved with on the campaign trail will be giving interviews or writing a book.

Hillary you should have left him long ago. You are excellent in your own right. Hillary the "bitter" comment doesn't sound so bad – does it? Even tho hundreds of thousands of people have lost there jobs, homes, cars and they are paying top dollar for gas. I guess you are right those people shouldn't be bitter. I guess also the people at Barack's former Church are much worse than your husband!!! Are you going to distance yourself or leave your husband because of his comments and actions? If you should get elected you will have to deal with Cuba immediately so Bill will have plenty of cigars!!!!

YES WE CAN – WHEN WE UNITE.

  18. Go Bill

It's amazing how the media has turned so negative towards the Clintons. I never bought in to the term "liberal media" before, but after this primary season I completely understand now how that term came about. The media, including this creep Purdum, will do anything to bring the Clintons down. I'm glad Bill called him a scumbag because that's what Purdum is.

Once again CNN becomes a tabloid network. President Clinton you've helped millions of AIDS patients all over the world through your foundation.

CNN stop your bias reporting. I wish Ted Turner still own it, majority of you will be fired from your job. I miss Bernard Shaw; with exception of Lou Dobbs, NONE of you people are in the same league in the likes of Bernard Shaw.
