Bill Clinton lashes out at Vanity Fair reporter

Bill Clinton is not happy with the way a new magazine article portrays him.

Bill Clinton is not happy with the way a new magazine article portrays him.

(CNN) - Hillary Clinton's campaign Monday apologized for "inappropriate" language used by her husband in response to a Vanity Fair article that quoted anonymous sources questioning the former president's behavior since leaving the White House. (Listen to Clinton's comments Monday.)

The article, by the magazine's national editor Todd Purdum, suggested that Bill Clinton's personality had changed since his 2004 heart bypass surgery and said that there were reports of Clinton "seeing a lot of women on the road."

Purdum quoted four former Clinton aides saying that another of his former assistants had conducted "what one of these aides called an intervention" about the reports of philandering.

A writer for the Huffington Post, Mayhill Fowler, asked Clinton on Monday what he thought "about that hatchet job somebody did on you in Vanity Fair," according to a recording of the exchange posted on the Huffington Post's Web site.

"(He's) sleazy," Clinton responded. "He's a really dishonest reporter." (Earlier: Journalist defends article slamming Bill Clinton)

  1. Monique Mellon,

Don't blame Bill a bit! He must get tired of reporters that pretend to be serious journalists when they really should be working for the Enquirer. I wonder how much that self importnat little twit was paid for that innuendo filled piece of garbage? Hope they paid him in silver dollars...it would be fitting.

You've got to be kidding me...Clinton calling someone else a "Scumbag"! I think this is a prime example of the "pot calling the kettle black"! The guy has just about lost it. He cannot accept the fact that his wife will not get the Democratic nomination.

Fair or not, the Cinton's make outstanding media content. We have seen this from the moment they burst on the political scene. I don't think that there is a conspiracy against Hillary, as he has claimed, but the media does project Obama in a more positive light than the Clinton's. Maybe because there is some truth to that?

  5. What?

Bill to be honest you are the one sticking it to your wife with your actions these past few months......

Why is that African American voters are suppose to believe and trust in a White President nominee to treat all colors people fair, but most of white voters use Obama race to not vote for him (he is multiracial)?

You say your wife is being picked on to hand Obama the presidential nominee. If that's the case she is not alone, because they are doing the same thing to Mechelle Obama with LIES, LIES, LIES....

This is an attempt to discredit BillClinton with no concrete evidence to support it. It is nothing more then bovine feces. You have to wonder about motive, why now? We all know the media has been anti-Clinton. This only confirms our supicions. I will write Hillary Clinton on my ballot in November.

Life is very weird specially in politics. Bill Clinton used to be one of the most powerful and respectful personality around the world and now see how he is being treated. Every politician should seat back and think about the way they should conduct themself in public life.

Despite what he has done in his private life all the good things he did could not be evaporated as a flash of lightning.

Dishonesty may equal Clintons ??? Very odd!!

Beyond that I think his last respects shoul be paid to him.

While I think that the article in Vanity Fair was distasteful and unfair to the former President, it just confirms that the Clintons have way too much baggage which could affect the outcome of the general election. This is why Obama should not even consider Clinton as his running mate. The republicans are looking for ammunition to use and the Clintons certainly have alot of it.

how funny! bill clinton is calling someone else sleazy and dishonest! How about the way he had his ho up in the white house disrespecting Hillary? i know hillary acts as if it never happen, but the rest of us still feel betrayed by it.

of all the gall, notice how bill never stated that it was absolutely not true. he attacks the reporter. pure republican tactics!

Sen obama had nothing to do with this story, but you see how they tried to drag him down in the mud with them?

this is the reason why hillary can't be VP. Sen Obama is tired of apologizing for sleazy, stupid people. he needs to place all his attention on getting our troops home and fixing the economy. it's a tall order but i have every confidence that President Obama will do a good job for us.

Bill Clinton has "0" credibility. When he lied under oath, pointed his finger in our faces and said "I did not have sex with that woman..." instead of doing the right and honorable thing of resigning. He lost his right to talk about "truth."

How our country would have been different if Al Gore had called Clinton out. If Gore had done this or himself resigned under protest, our nation would be in much better and different place.

Bill Clinton did the right thing and let the sleaze -bag reporter have it. You know the media has been calling Bill Clinton racist or giving that impreesion and questioning his abilities. The rant by cnn and pmsnbc lobied against Bill Clinton was nothing but a ploy for their canidate of choice Obama. Bill Clinton was the best democrat canidate to come along since Harry Truman. The media wants to put John Kennedy up as a great president. He had more affairs than Bill Clinton and pushed us almost into a nuclear war with Russia, totally messed up the Bay of Pigs and only won the presidency by fraud in chicago and media bias as cnn and pmsnbc is doing now. If Hillary had listen to Bill and got down in the dirt when the Obama camp did and blaasted the media earlier for their bais and sexism the picture would have been different. She would have made a great president but she lacks the fighting ability and toughness that Bill does. Bill would have cleaned the clock of Obama. The only reason this story was run is at the behest of the democrat leaders to try and force Hillary out and to try to sway Clinton voters to Obama. Sorry that won't work. Bill only played softball because that was the way Hillary wanted to play it. Oh by the way James Clyburn coming out at the last minute for Obama. I love the way the media is playing it out with him that he finally decided. The media as well as I knew that like 90% of the blacks he was always in Obama's corner. Good try media and you wonder why we think of the press as scum bags. The press is just as bad as politicians. They have no integrity and slant the news for the canidate of their choice. I tell you how I knew Clyburne was for Obama. When coordinating with the press to call Bill Clinton,s remarks about Jesse Jackson and his south carolina remark. I didn't hear Clyburne condeming Obama and Trinity Church. Of course cnn and pmsnbc wouldn't have either if Fox had not broke the news. Bill is right and their is nothing wrong in what he said. He stated the facts and the media cannot handle the truth throwed back in their face.

Oh now don't slight the man for being a womanizer, like we didn't all know. My question is he the only womanizer in the couple? Would Huma tell the truth though? There is no shame in being what ever you are. But the shame lies in the thinking no one knows. 🙂

Why is it that all of our U.S. Media is either afraid to print it, or have been paid off not to. Barak Hussein Obama is his name. If it looks
like a Duck and walks like a Duck, and quacks like a duck, Its a G.D. Duck. Why have we not seen his full name on the front page of every
newspaper. If he makes it, and when he is sworn in, what will you print then?, when he refuses to salute our flag or place his hand on the bible.
Cut us some slack, and print Obama's full name in your newspapers
before it is too late for America to see just who the News Media is pushing into the White House..

As much as I sympathise with Bill on this one he called it upon himself by exposing himself the second time round to every hawk in the media.

Bill, some advise, retire honorably and convince Hillary to go with you and safe your heart some pain. It can not handle it anymore.

Calling a scumbag a scumbag is appropriate! I see nothing wrong in calling a bad guy a bad name!!! Freedom of speech!!! As long as no four letter words are used, that's OK!!!
