(CNN) – Barack Obama is now 10 delegates short of clinching the Democratic nomination, CNN estimates.

The Illinois senator now leads Clinton by 195 delegates in overall delegates, 124 in pledged delegates, and 71 in superdelegates.

I think it is very bad of the news networks to keep anouncing that Obama is allready the nominee before the polls have closed. And you say that you all are not biased??????

Notice how it says Obama will "claim" the nomination because he's not actually winning it. No one got the needed number of pledged delegates. Don't forget, the super delegates votes don't REALLY get cast until the convention, if they would be needed.

I am glad he beat her because she really thought she would get it. I guess she could at the convention if the super delegates changed their mind.
Most of all, I hope he doesn't think he has to pick her for VP. I think she would hurt him after he took office.
She would do anything to make her look good, if that is possible.
I am a registered republican woman 69 years old and she didn't fool me.

CONGRATULATIONS TO AMERICA. For the first time in my adult lifetime I can truly feel patriotic. All the times I have been made to feel less a human being or American. All the times during the civil rights movements when I was one of four black kids in an all white school being spit on, beat on and other shameful things. Michele, I know what you meant. And thank you for saying those words because for those who were on the other side of racism, they will never know what you meant. NOW our children along with others of color know that this country has to accept people of any color to one day be the President of the United States. THIS COUNTRY does not belong to one people. Black, white, red, yellow we are all one. Thanks to you and Senator Obama.

The new Genographic shows that human beings are one and have even traced the genetic history of some white people to Africa and explained it is migration in many thousand years that made people to scatter all over the world.
Obama's victory may be a closing of the circle. A Black man in WhiteHouse? It is mind boggling. May America be able to learn about the undercurrents of what is going on.

This is hoping he won't be knocked off like Kennedy,Martin Luther King Jnr and others. We should all shout in the world it is anew Dawn!

Monte   June 3rd, 2008 7:47 pm ET

I am truly ashamed of my country and the DNC of which I am no longer a member. This will be the third time they (party elites) selected a loser. Remember when "every vote counts" was the party motto. It went down the toilet this time around. Votes don't count unless you vote the way the DNC wants you to.
Howard Dean – a loser himself – created this mess and nows wants party unity to help him look good. Not a snow balls chance in____.
Unity will come in Nov. when McCain wins!!!

All Americans should be proud. Right now he is just 7 delegates short of the nomination. Obama has ran a good clean campaign and he is being blessed by God. America should be proud of the fact that we all looked beyond this man's skin color and judged him by the content of his character and professionalism. He is a down to earth person and he will win the presidency. God rewards righteousness.

God bless you Barack Obama ! You will make a great President for all of the people of America!

Sadio   June 3rd, 2008 7:40 pm ET

the new number of delegates needed by Obama is actually 7

Shirley Q   June 3rd, 2008 7:40 pm ET

Amen to Charlotte....this is so scary.....I can not believe how he has been able to manipulate this country....just like he did 12 years ago when he first ran for an office...But Hillary is still going to the convention and a lot can happen between now and then,,,and he knows it. That would be the only reason he would want her on his ticket (that and 18 million more reasons)....but McCain will get it so none of this really matters. Be glad when Nov gets here and we don't have to hear his name anymore... By the way, rarely see CNN print these that go against Obama.

Kathleen   June 3rd, 2008 7:40 pm ET

Superdelegates shouldn't be added in. Obama cannot "clinch" the nomination even if he won every delegate left to win. Superdelegates are not pledged or committed in any way and are not added to the total needed for the "magic number" until the roll call at the convention.

Sandy   June 3rd, 2008 7:39 pm ET

HCR will NEVER HELP Obama! The Clintons will only help themselve building a Clinton Dynasty!

historic and amazing. when books are written about this election one conclusion that people will arrive at will be that people of the time rejected the standard beared of the old guard and chose the unknown.

the next phase of this historic race will be the resolution of the question of what the country will do. whose personal history and narrative will sway the country? the war hero vs. the inheritor of the promise of america.

Richard   June 3rd, 2008 7:35 pm ET

This is in reference to Danny from Boca Raton, FL. This is the unity that the Democratic Party needs. Both Barack and Hillary have put on great campaigns, and have each rallied the Party in ways nobody has in decades. This Party once united will be unbeatable.

Congratulations to both for well run Campaigns but now it is time to focus on November and making sure the Republicans do not get 4 more years.

Since the super delegates can change their vote at any time up until they actually cast it at the convention, I would think the congratulations might be a tad premature. A lot could happen in the interim – and votes can shift.

And that's pretty much, game, set, match. 10 delegates needed and that's not counting the last primary votes from SD and MT. And he just needs 33% of the vote there to get 10 pledged delegates. It's time to move beyond the Democratic Primaries now...

JT, AZ   June 3rd, 2008 7:28 pm ET

Let's not forget that the Clinton campaign has hinted that they'll appeal the FL and MI decision to the credentials committee, and even though they got half votes, they got all of their delegates. If an appeal would be successful, then the magic number would suddenly be 2210.

So, let’s keep going for about 102 more, shall we?

This has been a very exciting and at time nasty campaign... I congratulate Sen. Obama on his campaign, I will vote for him the the General Election. I also want to congratulate Sen. Clinton for putting up a heck of a fight! She has raised the bar for women in the political arena in this country. I am proud to support her, support her campaign and to have contributed my hard earn money to. I believe in her message and I look forward to listen to Sen. Obama's message as we get close to november. these two are patriots and I'm very proud that they have chose to serve under the democratic party.

Finally.
Maybe now we can turn our attention to the really important task in November – beating Bush/McCain.
