Hillary can be considered for another position, but not VP. It will be difficult for the pair to defend some of the damages caused by Hillary. So, the best thing to do is to keep her away from the ticket.

Hillary will never win another election if she gives this one to McCain, her political career will be over. She has lost the nomination fairly, the only way she will save her career will be to concede and help us win in November. Then she may have a chance in 2016.

OMG! If she becomes the running mate I am afraid that Senator Obama is really in trouble because Hillary and Bill will be truly divisive and dangerous. I think that his safety is a concern for me with that ticket. He'd be better off getting someone that is a staple in the Democratic Party and that the majority of people like.

I have been listening to all the pundits since this news came out. Obama does not owe Hillary Clinton anything. All through the campaigning she has put him down, even at times praising John McCain over him.I would rather see him lose than cave to her demands. He has pulled him self up by the boot straps, he needs to decide for himself and continue to hold his head up very high. I will vote for Obama whoever his VP is.

ok people...really?
Obama is a big boy. and as president, you better believe that he could EASILY keep both Hillary and Bill in check.

Any Obama support who thinks that he cannot handle it is slighting their own candidate. Having Hillary would be a smart decision for the party; I don't care if you do not like her because she ran against him...that's how this whole thing works.

This goes for Clinton supporters as well, however. Stop whining and complaining that Hillary didn't get the nomination. We are not in fifth grade. This is not "I didn't get what I want so NO ONE gets what they want". This is simply incredibly immature and irresponsible. We are a PARTY, not a CANDIDATE. Please, get over yourselves. I, for one, was a Hillary supporter up until a month ago, but you do not see my going around whining and complaining.

I'm sorry, but it is time for some of you to grow up. We are all adults, and as a party, we have to be able to look past this. We NEED to be able to look past this. Please do not mess this up for our country.

Hillary should let Obama twist in the wind, let him lose, then she runs
in 1912, wins and is President. She has been discriminated against
through the whole campaign and Obama has been fawned over
by the media until even he thinks he'll be a good President!

Obama should not select Clinton as VP nominee. Obama can win without Clinton.

Many voters in California have remorse for voting for Clinton - would now have voted for Obama.

Many many voters were Republicans who voted for Clinton.

Too much baggage with the Clintons.

Senator Clinton is a strong person and not a child so she does not need to be "pacified" with a consolation gift of the vice presidency. Every four years all candidates fight a good fight. None of those fights have earned an automatic placement into the VP slot. There have been no package deals before. If Senator Clinton were in a position to win, go Democrats. If as it appears that she does not and Obama wins, go Democrats. We need a Democrat in the White house. Period.

The predominant reason (not the only reason) Hillary got so many votes over Obama is that she's white...not that she's a woman. Last I checked Hillary Clinton wasn't the only white person in the US that Obama could pick for VP. Obama will be just fine without Clinton. In fact, he'll be far better off without her.

Right, responsible Americans we will not vote for Obama.

They will vote for the most qualified and moderate candidate on the ballot…

Like Bush for 8 years

Obama all the way.....

And right now, the big news is Obama is about to become the Democratic nominee for president. Tonight, I only want to hear about Obama and his finally clinching the nomination. Yes!

PLEASE, PLEASE Obama, DO NOT choose Hillary for your V.P. running mate!!!!! The country has had enough of her! And of course, you would be getting "good ol Bill too! I support you, but would have to have second thoughts if you should ask her to be the V.P. canidate. I truly believe this would be a big mistake and would insure a Republican win in November!

I'm a lifelong Democrat and I will not vote for Obama if he is the nominee -- UNLESS Senator Clinton is on the ticket. If she's not, I can't bring myself to vote for McCain, but I will vote for her -- even if I have to write-in her name on the ballot. I am encouraging others who feel like I do to do the same.

B-NYC - I beg to differ, once the Hillary supporters who are TRUE DEMOCRATS see the differences between McCain and Obama, they will choose Obama almost 95% of the time...

The other 5% are not voting on Policies, but only voting on Gender or color of skin.

I think Americans as a whole are stupid. We let the media sway us instead of understanding what's real. I believe that putting the snake Hillary as VP is a mistake. It'll definitely hurt Obama. Furthermore, this bullcrap about inexperience, WHAT??? Look at the C student we had in office for the last 8 years, if that's experience then no thank you.

Can't we let Obama have at least one day to celebrate his hard-earned victory? Let him decide himself, at his own timeframe, who he wants as his running mate. There's no hurry, so stop rushing him and pushing Hillary. Let's celebrate Obama's victory tonight!

For all of you saying vote Mccain, hope you can afford 3 trillion after 5-100 more years for the iraq war, not to mention $10 gas and food cost out of the roof. If so please vote McCain, but I am not rich and cannot afford to keep the same policies we have today. Before you know it I will be in foreclosure when i was living comfortable before republicans took office.

As several alert readers pointed out, the editors mis-spoke in the article: "Clinton ...raised the issue of serving as Clinton's running mate ".

For the male editors, this is just funny. No big deal.

But any editors that are women are, according to the Obama campaign policies, liars and monsters, and "too strong". Unless you like being called "sweetie", then it is OK.

And so the truth comes to light: Obama supporters would rather vote for McCain than have Hillary on the ticket. They don't care about their own candidate's message of 'positive change of hope and unity.' All they care about is to destroy a scapegoat because they can't face the fact that their own party sat around and did nothing for them for decades!
And yet they continue to label Hillary's supporters as 'traitors' when they'd rather vote for McCain... Hypocrites!

If a portion of the 17 million that voted for Clinton decide to be sore losers and switch parties it won't impact the millions of other Americans with sense.

Obama's negatives are on an exponential process to infinity by November. Hillary may be able to bring down his negatives and somehow win the presidency; however, Hillary would be best to decline and believe any V.P. acceptance will be political suicide for whoever accepts. With that said, Hillary is Obama's only chance.

Give it up, the BEST always wins; Obama has won. Therefore, he cannot but be the BEST.

Where did Hillary's experience get her in this process? She has loaned her campaign and is currently indebted.

If I were to do a psychological evaluation of these candidates, it will be simple:
Hillary: inadequate use of resources
Obama: effective use of limited resources.

Folks, this is what "opportunity" is all about in this nation; it is not about name recognition! So, give it up-- this is Obama's and no one should take it away from him and his supporters!!!!

All this talk of party unity, Hillary can bring that unity and now the Obama kool aid drinkers are bitter. He needs her more than she needs him. Do we want more of the same Bush policies or a winning ticket. Like it or not Clinton and Obama are very close in votes. Please people think the year 2000. We do not live in a democracy, the US is a Republic and now it's all about the Electoral College. Obama needs Hillary to win in November.
