I say give him couple of more debates, but leave it at that! Don't tour with him, he wants Obama to foot the bill!

"That's not change we can believe in." Followed by a terrible attempt at a smile. How many times did he say that? At least five. It didn't drive home any message, it made him look like a foolish old man.

Wow... excepting war??? A wasteful (in money and lives) conflict with no clean end in sight and no profit at the end worth the deaths ... It was a decision taken for the people by the government... a decision to to waste theirs resources of money and precious lives.

Remember, Barack may be a nice guy. But he is a product of Chicago politics....His biggest challenge may be not trying to keep his nice guy image while still making McCain cry for mercy.

And when McCain talks about staying in Iraq for the long haul I want him to lay out how he plans to pay for it. Because Bush's plan was excellent. $12.5M per day in borrowed funds over six years has done wonders for America. Genius, the lot of `em.

I'm tired of "a President I could have a beer with." I want an intelligent, self-made President who understand what's best for America even if I might not. My concerns are for feeding my family. I don't have the time or the resources to see the bigger picture. I want a President with enough sense and smarts to do that job for me. Isn't that the job of government in the first place? To cover the big picture while private citizens focus on their individual lives?

Afterall, we do elect them to run the country. Why are so many Americans intent on playing arm-chair quarterback when it comes to government?

Obama is the breath of fresh air we need in this country. And he isn't Jimmy Carter rehashed. If anything, he resembles Kennedy with his optimism and willingness to challenge America to hold itself to a higher standard.

Ok I know it's not going to happen because neither of the two major parties want to even the playing field at all so that they can keep their stranglehold on our government, but I just think it would be nice to hear all the sides of the issues.

When the Clinton faithful see Obama tearing McSame a new one in these debates, they will all come back into the fold. Nobody wants a third term of Bush's failed policies, Obama is going to throw the spotlight on McCain and expose him for the Bush clone that he is.

But, if I'm Obama, I would wait and do this little debate tour between the convention and the general election. Barack needs to spend the next two months unifying the Democratic base, selecting his VP, and raising as much money as he can before the deadline for primary campaign giving expires. There are lots of Hillary supporters he can reach out to and work with to get involved in his campaign. He needs to spend the summer focusing on those issues and debate with McCain in the fall.

OBAMA 08-12

I can't wait to see empty suit Obama stumble and bumble his way through debates with McCain. Or maybe he'll start crying and hiding again after the first one, claiming he's too "busy." That tactic won't work now that he's in the big leagues.

I am an Obama supporter, an avid one, but in these "townhall-style" debates, John McCain would dominate. Obama is tremendously powerful on a podium in front of thousands of people because he can "activate" an audience. His speeches excite people and challenge them to think...

That said, John McCain delivers horrible podium speeches. Look at last nights verbal abortion as evidence. Where McCain excels is with a small group of people where he can humanize with them...particularly his demographic of people who are more used to townhall meetings. McCain stinks at making canned speeches because he can't fulfill the voice inflections he's supposed to and his smiles look ridiculous...but he can rabble-rouse with the best of them.

If Obama agrees to these townhall debates he's going to look stupid and elitist. McCain can walk into a townhall meeting, give a decent speech that appeals to the audience, kiss every baby and still come out looking like the smartest, most experienced person in the room. If Obama tries to do this he's going to look like an intellectual elitist in a suit, attempting to incite people who aren't incitable, and again trying to convince people that even rockstars are people too. While I am thrilled to see Obama get the nomination (who doesn't like seeing the guy they rooted for win?), if he agrees to this he will fail.

Think about it this way- when has Obama drawn the largest crowds? Weekends (at rock concerts), evenings in large cities (typically after work) or huge rallies (again, in the evening after work). When has McCain done his best campaigning? During the day, in the morning, at these townhall meetings. In large audiences he looks like an imbecile, in small groups he looks like a saint.

Obama should counter this. Imagine if he were to agree to meet McCain halfway. He would be the image of bi-partisan. What if he were to agree to debate McCain once a week, but only in front of huge audiences, in the evening, and at the podium? Obama looks like he's not willing to back down, while McCain would then be forced to sheepishly run away.

I believe what he says, he is a decent man and that's more then I can say for this administration.
With my limited view, I knew Bush was going to war no matter what the evidence to the contrary.
Of course his loyal dogs are going to try to discredit him.
