WASHINGTON (CNN) – Less than a day after Barack Obama effectively clinched the Democratic presidential nomination, CNN has confirmed that some of the staffers at Hillary Clinton’s campaign headquarters have been told that Friday is their last day of work.

The New York senator — who visited them at her Arlington, Virginia headquarters late Wednesday afternoon after learning of the news — invited them to gather at her home Friday, according to several of those present.

The meeting was described as emotional for some. "We are talking to people who have been at this 24-7,” one staffer told CNN. “We are not surprised — and we are stunned. What can I tell you?” The staffer said Clinton herself was "gracious," but offered no further description of her demeanor.

ABC, which first reported the development, also said those on staff have been informed they will continue to receive paychecks through June 15.

YES WE CAN! YES WE WILL   June 4th, 2008 8:30 pm ET

Time to pack it up and go home or you can always come and join us!

WE CAN DO THIS IT WOULD BE NICE FOR US TO BE UNITED AS ONE, BUT IF NOT THE SHOW MUST GO ON! I AM NOT EVEN A DEMOCRAT, BUT I BELIEVE IN OBAMA AND AMERICANS WHO WANT CHANGE OF THE WAY THE GOVT. IS RAN AGAINST THE PEOPLE, WE NEED ONE FOR THE PEOPLE. IT WILL BE HARD, BUT LIKE OBAMA HAS SAID IT WILL TAKE ALL OF US WORKING TOGETHER. THAT MEANS ALL THAT WILL, THOSE THAT DON'T STAY OUT OF THE WAY DO WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO DO, BUT DON'T BREAK THE SPIRITS OF THOSE THAT WILL.

YOU DID NOT GET WHAT YOU WANTED? THAT HAPPENS OFTEN IN LIFE, BUT YOU STILL HAVE TO TAKE AND MAKE THE MOST OF WHAT YOU HAVE WITHOUT MAKING THINKS WORST FOR EVERYBODY ELSE.

Citizen, Denver   June 4th, 2008 8:30 pm ET

My friends, please let it go now please. We have been gracious to Barack Obama for so long and now, everything comes to an end with Mrs. Clinton dropping out and please don't make her supporters angry again. Let it go everything will be fine and we will come together because we believe in the same cause and we are all Democrats. The primaries are over and we need to come together. Please give Mrs. Clinton a warm appllause for her outstanding hard campaign.

Derrick   June 4th, 2008 8:30 pm ET

I pray to the Lord that Senator Clinton dont drop out the race for the white house. Everyone talking so much about change well here you go. For the first time in US history you have a white man running for the republican party, you have a black man who has no clue to what he's doing running for the dumbcrets and you have the most experience women in the world Senator Clinton running for the Independent party. Now thats change because after what the dumbcrets did what they did saturday and gave Mr.Obama the nomination. I will never ever vote for a Democrate again. There rules and the way they nominate there party nominee is a joke and I rather vote for John McCain before I vote for Mr.Obama. Im a 29 year old black male here inthe US and all my life I have been feed democrate but today I will be Independent and if its left up to Mr.Obama or Mr.McCain. Well congradulations Mr.McCain you will get my vote. I rather vote for someone with much experience than to vote for someone because he is black and I think im going to get a free ride in the US by voting for a blac

DJ , TX   June 4th, 2008 8:29 pm ET

I don't think Hillary was going to suspend her campaign until after her mother's 89th b-day bash. It would just kind of seem in character for her. She did not hurl insults at Obama last night as many pundits and Obama supporters are at her today. If unity is your true aim be part of the solution. let graciousness begin with each of us.

Missy, South Carolina   June 4th, 2008 8:29 pm ET

Hillary pleaase pay your staff out of your funds instead of the American People.

Southwest FL   June 4th, 2008 8:28 pm ET

Hillary, you have been an inspiration! You are the best person for the job. I just can't believe this has happened.

Obama will lose the general election. I have been a democrat my entire life and would have voted for you. Now I, along with many other democrats and independents, will vote for McCain. Florida will go to the Republicans this year. Much of our family is in Ohio. They are all democrats who voted for you. Now they will all vote for McCain.

Hang on until 2012. You may get another chance then.

MIRIAM ROSS THOMPSON   June 4th, 2008 8:28 pm ET

AS AN INDEPENDENT HILLARY WILL INSURE A WIN FOR MCCAIN. AS A VP ON THE TICKET, SHE WILL DO THE SAME - AND I WAS A HILLARY SUPPORTER. SHE WOULD DO WELL TO WORK FOR HER HEALTHCARE PLAN AS PART OF THE D. PLATFORM.

SHE RAN A GOOD RACE. AMERICA WAS NOT READY FOR A WOMAN, ESPECIALLY HER - HER PERSONA, HER CLINTON BACKGROUND, HER ADVISORS. BILL WAS AHUGH LIBILITY.

EVEN IF SHE WERE TO ACT AS AN ADVISOR TO OBAMA, THE KENNEDYS WOULD BLOCK HER. HER BEST MOVE WOULD BE TO APPEAR WITH OBAMA AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE IN THE CRITICAL AREAS WHERE SHE WAS STRONG, AND HE WAS NOT AS WELL AS THE AREAS THAT WERE CLOSE.

Emma in Texas   June 4th, 2008 8:24 pm ET

THANK YOU Hillary for finally seeing that it is over !

I know that you worked hard and it is not easy for you to admit that you did not win.

However, do the right thing for our country and support Obama.

Get yourself some rest ,( YOU NEED IT ) then comback working hard and fighting to put Obama in they White House in November.

With unity your political future will be better !

KEEP DENEGRATING MRS. CLINTON AND YOU CAN SAY "BYE-BYE" TO THE PRESIDENCY!

seah   June 4th, 2008 8:20 pm ET

For the DNC and high powered Democrats, playing god and poltitical fixers for months now.

Tryng to pressure clinton to drop out. Dean and pelosi going to the media about it. Knowingly it would set off the media and influence voters. Was Shameful for the DNC to do.

For the DNC to pressure super delegates to publicly endorse before the convention, another ploy to influence voters.

Hillary received over half the democratic vote. She has the right to go to the convention.

The convention being the place where they pick and announce the nominee.

Railroading, pressuring and being mean, nasty and play out rude, childish and running to the media, Was out of line for the democtatic party, and wrong on so many levels. They should be all ashamed.

Clinton who ran against obama, the DNC, pelosi and dean and the machine, Did a fantastic job. She deserves the right to go to the convention and go through due process.

kat   June 4th, 2008 8:18 pm ET

IF hilary won't run as an independent-then I'm voting Mccain in Nov'. I don't mind being Obama's spoiler-I can't support someone who's not even a good american-won't wear flagpin–and crown's himself king'He won't win here in Michigan The dumacrat party is a mess-they lost the only chance they had to nominate a viable candidate they deserve to loose in Nov.

Brett from Austin, TX   June 4th, 2008 8:18 pm ET

Obama supporters: keep denegrating Mrs. Clinton and watch what happens in November. You think it was heartbreaking for us to realize Sen. Clinton lost? Wait until we sway this election due to Obama supporters STILL DENEGRATING OUR CANDIDATE.

Farrell, Houston, Tx   June 4th, 2008 8:16 pm ET

The media is questioning whether Hillary will quit the race on Friday. My question is, who is she running against? It doesn't appear that she's running with the democrat party.

SATISHC   June 4th, 2008 8:14 pm ET

I DISLIKE HILLARY for all the oft-repeated reasons. Will be glad to see the Clintons go into the sunset.

One good thing about Hillary. When she became First Lady in 1992, she had an awaful taste in clothes, hairstyle, make-up, jewelry, etc. Remember her hat and dress at the swearing in/inauguration? Her poor taste continued for many years.

But, during the past couple of years, she has been advised by very talented professionals. She looks great, even though she is rotten to the core!

Perhaps Michelle Obama could use good advisers (Hillary's, may be) about her wardrobe and appearance.

Charlotte   June 4th, 2008 8:12 pm ET

What does Caroline Kennedy know about what the people of America want? She has stayed out of politics and the public eye until now? Was she already asked to be VP? That would explain her sudden attraction to politics. It would also explain Ted Kennedys endorsement over the wishes of the voters in his state. Obama is the presumitive nominee. Until the conventions, no one including McCain, are the nominees. the convention is when the actual votes will be given, until then anything can happen. I will wait until the convention to see the actual results. Out of three possible scenarios on popular votes, Obama is ahead in only one. He is not my nominee. If he is the actual nominee in August and that seems likely, I will at that time know how I will vote in November. I suspect I will have to vote for Hillary, by write-in

Ernest   June 4th, 2008 8:11 pm ET

Sorry, just deal with it.

Patty   June 4th, 2008 8:10 pm ET

My god Obama supporters. Enough already with the Hillary bashing. It is not fun to keep seeing your hateful blogs on here when it expected that there should be intelligent comments. This country is so full of hate it's no wonder we are in mess. Grow up!!!!

Paul - Seattle   June 4th, 2008 8:09 pm ET

Hillary supporters need to be careful with their votes come November. Voting for McCain will be a slap in Hillary's face because it will go against everything she stood for in this campaign. Similarly, if they choose to write Hillary in, and Obama loses a close race, she will go down in history as the Ralph Nader of the 2008 election, and she will be remembered for potentially keeping the first African American from becoming president. In either case she will be remembered by history as a candidate that put herself before the party and helped the Republicans keep the presidency after 8 years of the WORST administration in history.

I understand the emotion, she ran a tough campaign and she was a great candidate. But it's time to think with our heads and not our hearts. A McCain presidency could mean the end of Roe v. Wade, a continuation of an unjust war in Iraq, and continued damage to the long term health of our economy and our country. Please consider the issues when you vote, not just the candidates.

OBAMA '08!!!

Hey Peggy in TX. Newsflash: I'm not a Democrat! Never was. I have always voted for the candidate I believed in regardless of their party. I couldn't care less what becomes of the Democratic Party. I vote my way and that's final. It just so happens that about 18 million others agree with me. Anyone who disagrees can deal with it in their own way. As for you Truth, I think you belong in a place like Cuba that doesn't support free speech. Are you that scared that Obama isn't strong enough without Clinton's supporters? It sure sounds like it. Maybe our votes do mean something to you after all.

Former Obama Supporter   June 4th, 2008 8:03 pm ET

We now, Obama supporters, the Party Elite and Superdelegates are TELLING Hillary to get out already. Why do they think this is a good idea? They are once again disrespecting Hillary and her supporters. How can they say let’s unite, if they continue to disrespect us? Even the bias media is saying that she should have gotten out yesterday. YOU CAN’T RUSH US OUT!!! The media is now trying to make the Obama supporters mad that Hillary didn’t get out yesterday. They are trying everything they can to stop her from getting the VP position. They don’t want her and they will blow this out of proportion just to make Obama and his supporters not want to choose her. And she might not even want to be VP. She might just want an offer. Obama has to offer it or Hillary supporters won’t vote for Obama. It is that simple.

Bubba   June 4th, 2008 8:02 pm ET

Hillary lives in a land of illusion. She doesn't think Bill cheats on her either….

I am a democrat voting for experience why would I vote for inexperience? we just had 8 years of that. I will still vote for experience but I won't vote democrat I will vote republican if that means experience. this job is not a 90 day free trial. We need someone in their who knows whats going on with our security and our economics. if the democrats are that naive and think that Obama can fix the problem they must think we are real stupid they have just divided the party, I am a democrat voting for McCain.

I haven't liked Clinton for most of this campaign, but I do feel badly for her workers. They have really gone at it the last few months. Had she been the candidate in the beginning that she was in the end, we would be celebrating her victory right now. Job well done…you've earned a much needed rest.

Brenda Mallory   June 4th, 2008 7:54 pm ET

Hillary Clinton's lack of respect for the FACT that Barack Obama WON the required (albeit adjusted) number of delegates to win the Democratic nomination of President is a clear indication that she feels a sense of entitlement. Her speech was pathetic! It is clear that her so called message of inclusion is filled with rhetoric and is shallow, at best. It is obvious to me that she continues to display an arrogance, ignoring the power of the people, and their votes, whom she claims to want to represent. The fact thst she "asked her supporters to comment on her website regarding her next move" indicates to me that she is a person who, in the throes of adversity/challenge/defeat, is unwilling to make the RIGHT decision. She claims to want what is best for the party and the country, but she wants what appeases Hillary. Face it Mrs. Clinton, YOU LOST. The race was not won, by you, in February. Move on! You mis-calculated! You dismissed PEOPLE! The people spoke! Get over yourself! Stop talking the talk, and WALK THE WALK! In spite of your self denial and posturing, the country will elect the right person. It is my hope that better judgement will prevail, and Bartack Obama will select a person who is better suited to be his running mate. The polls may say one thing, but no one asked me and others of the same persuasion. Thus, the polls are NOT truly indicative of the sentiment across America. Pundits, get real!

Independent   June 4th, 2008 7:51 pm ET

Can everyone please stop the freakin hate against hillary? Im an ardent Obama supporter but people that say "QUEEN HILLARY IS FINALLY DOWN," and "NO HILLARY, NO HILLARY, WE HATE HILLARY" are JUST as bad as the crazy hillary supporters that cheer on the old, pro-war, anti-abortion, double talking McCain because they just feel like whining,

Hillary has run a VERY good campaign and atleast deserves respect. Yes, she lost, but she CAME CLOSE.

I ask all Obama supporters to give Hillary the respect she deserves-which is a lot. It has been a shakey road but hillary is a very smart person and will eventually do what is right

Chipster   June 4th, 2008 7:46 pm ET

Obama supporters, you're the ones who want Clinton to quit so how about if YOU send her the money to close down her operations? :-)

Don't fret about the bills getting paid. There'll be sufficient funds to help defeat the Republicans in the fall. We cannot afford another 4 years of their incompetence and greed.

And how many people is Hillary going to stiff? If Obama supporters really care about working people, Obama supporters should make sure Hillary's staff gets paid. Obama supporters also should make sure that Hillary's debt gets paid off. After all, look at how much money Obama raised. That would really unite the party if Obama and his supporters paid Hillary's staff and other debts.

I"m just glad its over, but by writing in her name Gabe in TX, would only benefit McCain and go againts everything Hillary stands for.

Her and Obama's goals are nearly identical. It would be a noble gesture, but couldnt you just send her an email describing your loyalty to her cause? Even better you can still donate to her campaign. She is still accepting donations to help her get out of her 30 million in debt.

Right now she needs to get behind Obama because the people have spoken and it is he they have decided to lead.

Hillary supporters, do not mind these people trying to stir up the pot. I highly doubt any of them are actual Obama Supporters. Just repubs trying to keep us divided.

Hillary ran a great campaign. And no one can say she didn't give it her all, I wish her well and hope that she will campaign just as hard for Obama. With her and Bill's help there is no doubt it will make taking back the White House that much easier.

Good Luck and God Bless

Cindy   June 4th, 2008 7:31 pm ET

This is really sad. How long is Hillary going to keep stringing her supporters along? The longer she keeps everyone in the dark, the more stunned her supporters will be when they finally realize… it's over. And then, there'll be no time to heal. And the nation will suffer another extension of the Bush Presidency. Selfish, selfish woman. How could someone so selfish think she could be our President?

Hillary Rodham Clinton is one Hell of a lady…! We have supported her from the beginning, way before she ever decided to run for President of the Democratic Party…! She is a remarkable woman. Her dedication and love for our country, will never change. She has opened the door for all women of all ages. And we thank you Hillary for that.
We need you in the political arena. So, with that said, we pray, that the Superdelegates made the right decision. This has been a close race. I love how the "write in campaign" for Clinton rears its head now. The one state where she wins outright is the state of denial. My favorite quote was that the DNC are not "shepherds" … well we know that Clinton supporters are definitely sheep. Obama's victory is twofold. Even if he doesn't win President he's the first decent candidate in 2 decades, and secondly by preventing Hillary from getting in he's given the world a chance of peace and hope rather than the same lying psychosis offered by McCain/Clinton.
Hillary definately can never run again, Obama may still be able to. With Clinton out the race the world is breathing a sigh of relief.

D. Casey   June 4th, 2008 7:23 pm ET

Why doesn't she just convert her offices to Obama Offices.. Hillary said she would do anything for unity.. Sounds like a really good start there and the volunteers can have something to do..

Barack's campaign won because he utilized volunteers to get his message out. Barack won this campaign strategically.. Hillary cannot deny that she was out done "strategically."

The way that she has behaved in the ending of this race and last night has closed off a very large part of her political network! There is no money support or substance for her to run on in this election cycle. I know many of the Clinton supporters have never worked in a campaign or know much about politics or how to articulate a thought very well. she is millions in debt and it amazes me that she had 18 millions so called supporters that are with her all the way and yet they don't send her money. Grow up get over it she lost fair and square. For any of them to say otherwise shows there love for democracy! If i don't get my way then i am taken my marbles and going home!

Re GB in TX

A write in campaign for Hillary – how absurd.

Why waste your time and effort to vote at all as a write in movement dose not have a pray of getting her the nomination. Do you think maybe it will make her feel not so bad? I understand you may care about her feelings. I am sure you can find some wealthy republicans to help fund you as since all you would are doing is stabbing your Democratic party in the back

I can't believe I wasted time answering that tool…

Mindy   June 4th, 2008 7:12 pm ET

Why would a write-in campaign be fair? People in all 50 states, and then some, have voted. Delegates have been awarded. Obama reached the number needed to be awarded the nomination. Of course Clinton supporters are unhappy that their first choice in the presidential preference races came in second. But that is what happened. We need to look at the bigger picture, unite around Obama, and move forward toward November.

The Lady   June 4th, 2008 7:11 pm ET

Can we please stop reporting on Hillary the race is over, give Obama his moment.

Brian   June 4th, 2008 7:08 pm ET

Good campaign Hillary we love you but now its time vote for Obama!

Fran   June 4th, 2008 7:08 pm ET

Hey! Obama supporters, why are you still so bitter? You stole the nomination from the best candidate. You made your bed, now lie in it. But stop slamming Clinton supporters. I guess you finally realized that without us, your golden boy can't win the general election. Is that why you are still so hateful towards Senator Clinton and her supporters?

JC   June 4th, 2008 7:08 pm ET

Stunned??? Me, too.

Why could so many of us see Hillarys' defeat and she couldn't see it coming? She said she doesn't like predictions, but a qualified leader has to have some ability to predict the outcome of important events. I am stunned that she and some of her campaign staff are so stunned.

Even if you are stunned, you still have to concede to mean business.
Please stop giving women a bad name in politics.

Hillary supporters do not betray your candidate, stab her in the back and go against her saying that we must do everything to make sure republicans lose. This is our time, This is America's time to shine and, whether you call those advocacies of our candidate, speeches of hope and progress, or shams of false change you are a democrat and you agree with Hillary's issues and Obamas. As Democrats we as a nation united must rise up and transcend the negativity that has terribly affected the race for the highest position in the world and we must join, hand in hand to cast our votes TOGETHER for that candidate which best represents us. Thank you and god bless you

well, all thanks to hillary, now Obama needs to help the party get back together, but it will be horrible since most of her supporters say they would rather vote for MCCAIN instead of a man who is on the same side as them! …and I agree, her staff should not have been stunned… And I hope she doesn't force her way into becoming VP

Obama for president!

Obama-Junkie, IL   June 4th, 2008 7:06 pm ET

Instead of writing Hillary's name in November, why don't contribute to reducing her debt…Gabe in Tx?

If Hillary would sign a pledge to campaign and fundraise for Obama without being his VP and squash are the talk from her surrogates on being VP, I would donate to her campaign so she can exit the stage.

Independent-Cuban-American-woman-voter-for-Obama   June 4th, 2008 7:06 pm ET

Of course their jobs end this week. We are waiting for Mrs. Clinton to step forward and endorse Sen. Obama.

My question is why hasn't she done the gracious thing? I can't help but suspect that ego is getting in the way.

For the good of the nation you claim to love, Mrs. Clinton, please do what's right and endorse Sen. Obama.

its good now . We need party unity to win in November. Hillary will campaign for Obama. But Bill Clinton should not be allowed to campaign for Obama. He spoilt Hillary's campaign. He is like an angry bull. He can raise money but he has to shut up his mouth till November.

Obama-Junkie, IL   June 4th, 2008 7:03 pm ET

Stunned?

You staffers should have known that Hillary chances to win the nomination were low after May 6th. This is not news, because the majority of us knew this was coming. Hillary's campaign finances were in the red on the order of $20 million on May 1st. Hillary's campaign has to be somewhere between $22 to $26 million in the red (with $11 million in personal loans and up to $15 million in debt)The primary season is over with Obama as the "presumptive" nominee. There are no more opportunities to fund raise and Hillary's millionaire and billionaire friends are maxed out by FEC finance campaign laws!

Pepe Santos   June 4th, 2008 7:03 pm ET

Hillary is retaining the only control she has. She devolved into a megalomaniac when Bill was president. She has retained that unfortunate quality and now wants to exert any measure of control that she can, regardless of the reason or long-term damage. She cares only about her power and refuses to do anything to lessen it. Unfortunately (or fortunately), this is a game she cannot win. Democracy is not perfect, but it is working in this case. Her only option is to try and retain power in the Senate, where she is but a junior member. I hope the country, especially her constituents, see this for what it really is - a clinical demonstration of her and Bill's megalomaniac tendencies.

Tamara   June 4th, 2008 7:02 pm ET

Obama will lose in the General election without Hillary. What are you all so afraid of. Obama lost the popular vote, the STATES THAT WE NEED TO WIN, and could not even win South Dakota, he limps to the finish line. WAKE UP PEOPLE. Stop the hatred. Obama needs her 18 million people, Black people, and kids will not do it for him. You unite the 18 million people everytime you hate on Bill and Hillary. I am a Black American and I am proud of Obama I just do not feel he is a better candidate.

We have to accept him because he got a few extra delegates but he has many issues to overcome and he needs Hillary more than Hillary needs him.

Manny   June 4th, 2008 7:02 pm ET

Maybe one of you could get a job teaching Michelle how to pick a flattering wardrobe and getting her to cover those unattractive "bingo arms". Her dowdy look belies the youthful image the Obamas are trying to portray.

Bob-a-latte   June 4th, 2008 7:01 pm ET

Now is the time to unify the party. The continuing nasty comments about Hillary just continue feed the dividion in the party. The adult Obama and Clinton supporters can lead the way to unity in the party by being gracious in winning and losing. Please, can't we all just tone down the negative talk so we can start to focus on winning in November.

New Day   June 4th, 2008 7:01 pm ET

If conceeding this race was that hard. Then she really couldnt be Presdident on day one.

I am an Obama Supporter, but I was a Clinton Supporter long before that. I still love Hillary and Bill Clinton.

I think she would would make an excellent VP running mate for Obama.

jengoescrazy   June 4th, 2008 6:58 pm ET

What I dislike about Hillary the most is that she had this nomination in the BAG a year and a half ago. She ruined it herself by not being the great leader she claims to be, running a scandalous and debt-laden campaign and her husband, well what CAN we say about Bill?

When someone (of ANY race, gender or political maturity) can come out of virtually NOWHERE and beat the Clinton's, there is a big elephant-in-the-room explanation:

WE, AS THE USA, HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF THE CLINTONS!

Their lies, cheating and backstabbing, their negative campaigning (which THEY did, not Obama), is old school and we are ready to MOVE ON!

Barack Uda   June 4th, 2008 6:57 pm ET

Let's put some of that fervor into the Obama campaign! Both your platforms were similar and surely you're now focusing on the issues… right???

Matthew Hoptman   June 4th, 2008 6:56 pm ET

Could Gloria Borger be more biased? All she does is criticize Hillary Clinton's concession speech. What was so bad about it? She just wants a day or two to sort things out. But the woman won the popular vote for heaven's sake. She had to put up with a constant drumbeat of negative press by people like Gloria Borger. Enough is enough.

This will be over soon. Keep your hair on!

Richard CANADA   June 4th, 2008 6:55 pm ET

No Hillary   June 4th, 2008 6:50 pm ET

After her primary offices are closed, I think we have to find a VP very quickly and stop even mentioning her name anymore - not positive not negative. She and her husband are major liability for Obama in the November elections. Any of her negative campaign ads will be replayed by McCain.

John   June 4th, 2008 6:49 pm ET

Wonderful!!!!! about time she has done enough damage

Scott   June 4th, 2008 6:49 pm ET

While it is a very noble gesture for Hillary to inform her staffers that their work ends this Friday, she owes the party at least a thumbnail outline of what her intentions are for the duration of the Presidential campaign. Although regardless of what she decides to do, Obama is able to effectively campaign against McCain. I guess untill she decides to do the right thing and formally concede, we can all just go ahead and press on to the new battle that lies ahead.

George, Los Angeles   June 4th, 2008 6:48 pm ET

It is comments like the one from "Hillary Needs Help" that would make us Hillary supporters NOT vote for Obama in November.

I like Obama. But, I find his support base to be mean and nasty, and not reflective of who he is at all. I would NOT give his supporters the chance to celebrate again. They're too mean spirited. And while they talk unity - they have none.

McCain in November.

Now all someone has to do is tell Billary it's over too….her pink slip will be mailed to her.

Randy - Denver   June 4th, 2008 6:47 pm ET

Why is this news? the losing candidate ALWAYS has to send their people home. Ms. Clinton will, eventually, support the Democratic Party. the options are straightforward, she can concede in the near future with some grace and keep a spot in the DNC as a major player or she can drag this out for a while and lose the players spot or she can go to Denver where she will get soundly beaten as most superdelegates ARE elected officials and party leaders and they WILL NOT at that late date overturn who the selected representative is, after 2-1/2 months of campaigning as the democratic nominee Mr. Obama would NOT be removed and Ms. clinton appointed the republicans would eat that up and the democratic party would fracture. This is from an independant so take it for what it is worth.

Heidi in Houston   June 4th, 2008 6:47 pm ET

I hope Obama can hire some of those who aren't burned out by the long primaries to help him win against McCain in the November. I'll bet Hillary has some really sharp people on her team that would love to continue the effort for the democrats!

I think they call that a "pink" slip.

Marc PDX   June 4th, 2008 6:44 pm ET

Too bad Hillary couldn't have conceded gracefully in this. It's obvious that she knows she has lost the primary. And it's obvious that she's holding out for the Veep slot on the ticket. But ungraciously not conceding the victory to Obama does not help with that endeavor. It just makes her look like a sore loser.

Maybe it's cause your girl Hill, kept you boobs in the dark about losing when she could have softened the blow during her CONCESSION speech? Blame Hill for ya pain.

Obama/Clinton 08

Ralph   June 4th, 2008 6:39 pm ET

She needs this time to wind down her campaign. We should all be respectful enough to alow her the time she feels she needs to do this right. That said, she should not be on the ticket, period. She should have said nothing unless offered, but she knew that was never going to happen, so she is trying to get on by bending him over with her supporters.

RB   June 4th, 2008 6:38 pm ET

Poor Hillary. I thought she was a tough fighter? Funny how she's woman enough to play the "boys game" but not woman enough to admit the game is over and she's lost. Instead, she's sounding like W. and his "political capital". Hmmm. That didn't work to well for him either.

If you need your supporters to pay your campaign bills, ask them. They probably will pay it for you, but don't keep trying to BS them. You're burning bridges in NY and across the country by dragging this out…..to what end? You don't get to bargain with the nominee - Ed Rendel said that; not me.

Capt. Smash, Salt Lake City, Utah   June 4th, 2008 6:37 pm ET
