Warner and Kaine are set to campaign with Obama Thursday.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama will kick off his general election campaign in the purple state of Virginia on Thursday – and two of the state’s most prominent Democrats, Mark Warner and Tim Kaine, will be along for the ride.

Another high-profile Virginia Democrat, Sen. Jim Webb, is remaining mum on whether he will appear with Obama tomorrow, even though the newly minted nominee has scheduled an event in rural southwest Virginia, his home turf. Webb has yet to endorse a candidate.

Warner, the popular former governor who is now the frontrunner for the Senate seat left vacant by retiring Sen. John Warner, will campaign with Obama tomorrow in the city of Bristol, just over the Tennessee border. Warner was elected governor of Virginia in 2001 partly because he worked to win over rural voters in the southwestern part of the state, the very place Obama will campaign tomorrow.

Obama won the state’s primary handily on February 12, but he lost overwhelmingly to Hillary Clinton in the state’s rural Ninth Congressional District by 33 points, the first hints of a pattern of vulnerability among white, working-class voters that continued to nag him throughout later primary states like Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Gov. Kaine will appear briefly with Obama tomorrow evening at a rally in Manassas. The event will take place at Nissan Pavilion, a 25,000-seat concert venue in Manassas that in recent weeks has hosted acts like Radiohead and Kanye West.

Kaine has been one of Obama’s most ardent backers, and was one of the first prominent Democratic leaders to endorse the Illinois senator’s presidential bid in 2007.

"If tables were turned, Obama backers would be reacting a lot worse."

WRONG!!!!

Obama supporters have consistently polled that they would support Clinton and indeed any Democrat in November. It has been Senator Clinton's fans (many have gone way past supporters), who have railed against the rules in place that all candidates agreed to. It has been Senator Clinton's fans, who have been spreading Hillary's "new math".
It has been the Clinton campaign that has sworn to leave the party to vote against their own interests out of spite, irrational fear based on God knows what, or using the nonsensical excuse of experience when no candidate has the Executive experience of a corner store manager and with their candidate having the least time in office of the available options.

The truth is that many Hillary backers are behaving poorly and selfishly, thinking NOTHING of their children or our nation and are making excuses for their tantrum. There is ZERO evidence that Obama supporters would be acting the same way but it's a good fable to help your self sleep at night.

Now for the main event. Those of you who believe that Barak has the votes to be elected in November will be sadly disappointed. Not everyone buys into his charm. He has no substance and will not win over the people who really vote in this country. What you will see in November is the same group of people that beat McGovern in 72 and will not allow the Marxists to control our country.

Jerry, Florida   June 4th, 2008 7:54 pm ET

You can campaign all you want. However, it will be very difficult to reconcile the rift within the Democratic Party. I for one will not vote for Senator Obama. Though, I have been a life-long Democrat.

The senator and his feel-good supporters have a lot of work ahead of themselves. I urge all disenfranchised democrats to register their displeasure with the Party. If we have not been respected by Senator Obama, his campaign, or worst, by the DNC, Pelosi, Kennedy, Edwards, Kerry, etc., etc., why should we continue to be lead like unimportant/ineffective voters?

Some of us will never forgive or forget the injustice that has been committed against Senator Clinton by elected officials throughout the nation as well as the flunkies at the DNC.

Donna Brazile, neutral, give ME a break! Our intelligence has been insulted enough.

People, we the voters WILL have the last word!

It's time to move forward, Obama has shown you a new way to lead and a new way to get individuals to take part in government. It's time to start anew, Obama can and will lead us to a new way of living and becoming better people> It was a great race and now is time for us to show the world how we can and will become the new leaders of the world, once more where everyone wants to live.

Mariann Pepitone   June 4th, 2008 7:50 pm ET

Paul: This has been a dog eat dog campaign, the DNC did an injustice to Hillary so why shouldn't she strike back. Furthermore who cares if he is half African-American and half white meaning what he really is MULATTO. And Hillary should think of herself not the DNC because they deserve what they get for turning their back on her and endorsing Obama when they knew her long before him. Running as an independent would do justice for herself forget the democrats. He went behind the scenes to grant favors to the superdelegates if they would vote for him. He is crooked and underhanded like Rezko and learn that from him.

i particually like webb or the democratic leader in the senate to be vp but i have the upmost confidence obama and his campaign will pick the best one...

Can everyone please stop the freakin hate against hillary? Im an ardent Obama supporter but people that say "QUEEN HILLARY IS FINALLY DOWN," and "NO HILLARY, NO HILLARY, WE HATE HILLARY" are JUST as bad as the crazy hillary supporters that cheer on the old, pro-war, anti-abortion, double talking McCain because they just feel like whining,

Hillary has run a VERY good campaign and atleast deserves respect. Yes, she lost, but she CAME CLOSE.

I ask all Obama supporters to give Hillary the respect she deserves-which is a lot. It has been a shakey road but hillary is a very smart person and will eventually do what is right

Joy   June 4th, 2008 7:49 pm ET

I hope as smart as Obama is that he won't let he Clinton Clowns push Him to select the pair of them.He would need extra body guards and a food taster to travel with him at all times .She will only bring down a good thing he has going . Joy

I am ashame of how women in this country are behaving because Hillary did nto win. The sad thing is if she jumps off a cliff, I think some of them will too. No one person will ever have that much power over me, and yes I am a woman with a purpose in life. The Clintons have done alot of good and bad things, and sometimes it comes with a price. I am sure she has paved the way for other women and one day we will have our moment.

mr. uncle sam,
Obama believes in God , Jesus Christ , the son of God . you know that. every body knows that. Even John McCain and Hillary Clinton KNOW that. do not pretend you do not know that. also for records he is an AMERICAN , just an American , just as you and I and everybody else who is an American.
we are all proud of our ethnic heritage , but when it comes to America's business , we are not Euro-Americans , Japanese -Americans , African -Americans etc , JUST AMERICANs. he represents every American. please do not try to steriotype him as an African American to seperate him from the rest of us. He is an American , a christian American , if it makes you feel good.

Eightteen million Hill supporters don't like reading this crap. No wonder so many are going to vote for McCain. You people are SORE winners and the media's protection of Obama is sickening. Go McCain.

Keifer S.   June 4th, 2008 7:41 pm ET

Obama won the popular vote too. Don't buy into Hillary's lies. She's counting full Michigan and Florida and excluding all the caucuses. She's a goal-post mover, always has been. No more Hillary, no more Bill, NO MORE LIES!

Paul - Seattle   June 4th, 2008 7:38 pm ET

Hillary supporters need to be careful with their votes come November. Voting for McCain will be a slap in Hillary's face because it will go against everything she stood for in this campaign. Similarly, if they choose to write Hillary in, and Obama loses a close race, she will go down in history as the Ralph Nader of the 2008 election, and she will be remembered for potentially keeping the first African American from becoming president. In either case she will be remembered by history as a candidate that put herself before the party and helped the Republicans keep the presidency after 8 years of the WORST administration in history.

I understand the emotion, she ran a tough campaign and she was a great candidate. But it's time to think with our heads and not our hearts. A McCain presidency could mean the end of Roe v. Wade, a continuation of an unjust war in Iraq, and continued damage to the long term health of our economy and our country. Please consider the issues when you vote, not just the candidates.

OBAMA '08!!!

Emotions are running high on both sides. being it either on the side of the Sen Obama's or Sen. Clinton's supporters. If you are in your heart a true DEMOCRAT and believe in the priciples of the Democratic Party, please remember: UNITED WE WIN – DIVIDED WE FAIL ... the United States.

Concerned Canadian   June 4th, 2008 7:36 pm ET

Vote McCain. The Democrats are a total mess. Their speciality is losing elections. Heck...they can't even run an election !

USA will do just fine under John McCain. He has the whiskers. He's got the credentials, experience, military service and he's fiscally responsible. Obama will raise taxes through the roof to keep the thousand promises he made.

Time to stop federal funding for the NAACP for a start.

Mariann Pepitone   June 4th, 2008 7:35 pm ET

marlon: Obama is not officially the nominee until August. That means the superdelegates could have switched at any time. However, I don't think they will. The are too afraid of Dean, Reid and Nancy big mouth. And what happened to Oprah, Kerry, Richardson. I didn't hear of them congratulating him on his win. Oprah's ratings dropped 7% because of her campaigning for Obama. I am sure Kerry and Richardson are looking for a job in Obama's administration if he is elected. And that's a big IF. Any commentor for Obama that thinks he can run this country without help their are fooling themselves. He is too inexperience to handle it. All he wanted to do is make history for himself but he hasn't made it all the way. He needs to be president. Furthermore he is not black or white he is MULATTO to stay.

I.H   June 4th, 2008 7:34 pm ET

AS FAR AS I AM CONCERN, THE MEDIA PICKED THE CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT. I SAY BIG MISTAKE WHEN MCCAIN WINS IN NOVEMBER. I FEEL THAT CNN, MSNBC, AND FOX SHOULD APOLOGIZE TO HILLARY FOR ALL THEIR NEGATIVE REMARKS , ESPECIALLY MSNBC. HILLARY WAS TREATED LIKE A NOBODY AFTER OBAMA WAS NOMINATED. THE U.S OF AMERICA IS FALLING APART, AND ALL YOU REPORTERS DO IS KNOCKDOWN HILLARY. SHE RAN A GOOD CAMPAIGN AND SHE DESERVE RESPECT. THINK ABOUT ALL THE WOMEN BACK IN THE EARLY 1800'S WHO FOUGHT LONG AND HARD FOR WOMEN'S RIGHT. GIVE THEM RESPECT AS WELL AS HILLARY. IN MY HEART SHE IS THE PRESIDENT. All you "Clinton" supporters who claim to be for "your" candidate are the most selfish people. When Clinton gives her support to Obama(she will wether she's on the ticket or not she will give her support), and she says to all of you that voted for her to support her and vote for Obama in November will you? From what I've read you selfish people won't. So that would make all of you hypocrites. You people would rather put up with McCain and never see our soldiers return home, just to keep a black person from becoming president. How sad is that. So all you "Clinton" turned McCain supporters just stay home November 4th. Real Americans who want a change don't need you.

hillary clinton would have been the candidate to change and shape america, but the media, the deleggates, and the superdelegates knew all along what they were doing. hillary should not be open to the vice president spot, that's like a slap in the face. what a big disrespect to the woman that would clean up the mess after 8 years of bush and dumb, dumb chaney. the superdelegates should have made the decision for hillary to be nominated and obama for vp spot. i have a bad feeling about november, meaning mccain as president. as for nancy pelosi she should side with hillary knowing that she is the first woman speaker of the house. i hope hillary go back to live her life with her family, and let mccain and obama go at each other.

What is wrong with you people who say Hillary will do anything to be president? That it's all about Hillary? I'd say the same thing about Obama. It's crystal clear that everything he does and says is a deliberate manipulation to get what he wants. Whether he's qualified or experienced enough, just doesn't matter to him. It's all about him.
Pathetic.

Congrats to Obama...sadness for H. Clinton. Warner and Kane will do well in their home state to support Obama. What does Hillary want? She wants the presidency and it alluded her even with the most popular vote. This is a telling story about historical landmarks. It also tells us that the people who supported her share her views. Hillary has displayed ugliness and it's because she has been planning for this for over five years. It's a hard pill to swallow. Yet, not only has she accomplished a historical feat....how greater is the historical feat of an African American running as President of the United States of America. I saw this white woman on TV said she would not vote for a black man. I prayed for her today. For if this is the only reason for her not voting for a black man is part reason why GW Bush became President. What a shame and McCain will have voters voting for him for the same reason. I prayed for all the lost souls who judge people by the color of their skin only.

Jim   June 4th, 2008 7:19 pm ET

Both Warner and Kaine made promises while campaigning for office only to break the promises once in. Does this mean that Obama will do the exact same thing since he is allowing the two main democrats in the state the opportunity to "shine" with him?

Gee Mike, and the Clinton's haven't had dealings with crooks? They are such honest trustworthy people? No wrongdoing has been proven between Obama and Rezko, so get over it.

griffin   June 4th, 2008 7:16 pm ET

How can a Hillary Supporter threaten a Obama supporter, I thought we were on the same team.
Look folks we can only have one winner and the race was grueling, but now is the time to unite. Did you forget it's McCain that has Bush policies, Did you forget Bush has the lowest Presidental ratings in history. Let's not forget this important cause which I thought was to bring respect, and dignity back to our government. This election is not personal – let's unite and move on.

I personally think it is a bad idea for Hillary to join Obama on the ticket, I think she should be in some form helping reform health care, but VP no way. It doesn't mean she is not qualified, it means that the vp's job have no say, they are to take all orders from the President, Hillary has a voice of her on and she can't be stifled in this manner. Have your voice Hillary you are an important role in our government, Join Obama and work this out.
Finally, democrats be careful we have republicans on these blogs pretending to be democrats to cause division between Hillary and Obama supporters, don't let this happen folks, there agenda has been all over the radio to cause such divison. Let's be unity and stand together..,

justbicycles   June 4th, 2008 7:16 pm ET

Patty, Big Bear, CA   June 4th, 2008 7:15 pm ET

Why the demand for instant concession? After the tireless campaining on the part of both Obama and Clinton, the end is here...why is she not allowed to say "I'll take a few days to consider what I am going to do for the good of the party"? Just because she isn't doing it the way the boys want, she is being "blasted" and criticized....get over it....maybe she wants to cry!! If it was the other way around you bet Obama would be forgiven, even encouraged to let us know when he is ready.....all of this is proving her and her supporters right when they say she is being treated differently.

To All the Working Women Who Support Senator Clinton:

Congratulations on the great success of your candidate and her campaign. You demonstrated tremendous loyalty and hard work.

However, unfortunately only one candidate can go on in the general election and that appears to be Senator Obama.

Some of you have said that you will never support or vote for Obama.

Remember, if McCain wins you will keep working but more money will be thrown into Iraq, America's Viet Nam #2. Since many of you will not be able to send your children to college due to rising gas and other prices, your children may have to go into the military to get veteran benefits for school. Vote Republican, then your children can go with your retirement money to Iraq. I hope at least your children will come back. Your money never will, except in the pockets of the filthy rich.

If Hillary Clinton knew what was good for the Party, she would have conceded on Tuesday, and would have been campaigning with Obama on Thursday. She is very good at cutting her own political throat by constantly allowing her ego to get in the way.

That in itself is a sing of her rigidity, and complete lack of understanding the need to CHANGE.

•We have killed our unborn and called it choice.
•We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.
•We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self-esteem.
•We have abused power and called it politics.
•We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition.
•We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression.
•We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment

I was just thinking about how easily this could have went to Hillary's side...Just think about it...He won by just 200+ delegates. I mean, I would have been destroyed. I supported Obama since January of 07 when not many people knew who Obama was. I supported him because of the fact that he was different. I am from Somalia–and a half Kenyan man was running for the presidency of the United States of America–that was just amazing. This showed that America is really a land of opportunity. This could only happen in America. I believe in America's future because of Barack Obama. He has brought a love for America that I never knew I had.

He has inspired me to believe that we are one people...In his speech last night he said, "We are Americans First." I totally felt that. I cried for so long and this is a moment that I will never forget.

I can say that I am proud of the American people–I am proud of us for standing up for change and choosing a candidate that transcends race, transcends old politices. I love this country, and I love Americans.

Sincerely,

Obama's Biggest Supporter.

Shukri.

I don't know which is the worst thing about Obama – lack of experience or questionable relationships. Both are cause for concern in a presidential candidate. He wasn't vetted by the media at all until Saturday Night Live pointed it out (jeez! what's this country coming to!). And his vetting is still lightweight at best. He is a catastrophic revelation waiting to happen – no one has really checked his closet still.

Lack of Experience: it's like graduating from college and going to work for a major corporation. Then, after three years, feeling you're ready to be the CEO.

Faulty Relationships: Wright, Ayers, Pfleger, Rezko. Any more coming? With friends like that is he really that nice of a guy?

You must know that, yes, the world is watching. Instead of talking about Clinton you could be looking at all the bills that Obama actually wrote or supported while in the congress. I'll be even you would be amazed. You could be doing your job of telling us about this man who can bring 75, 000 people to hear him speak. You could be looking back into Illinois and see why he had over a million votes from his state. But instead....you go on and on and on about Hillary. Having Sen. Clinton as a Vice President would create numerous problems for then President Obama. The underminding and back stabbing from her would never stop. Also, there is Bill. What do you do with him?

The Clintons are always considered with what is good for "The Clintons".

amtFresno,CA   June 4th, 2008 6:57 pm ET

Iam glad Obama does not need Hillary to win these states. He can win without Hillary. It's good he is campaigning there with these two prominent statesmen that can help him win in Nov. Congrats to Barack Obama, the next President of the U.S.

This is For DEBBY !

I guess it's accurate that the clinton base is highly uneducated as I can tell you have no job or ambition and sit in front of your PC all day writing anti-Obama comments on every post. Maybe you should pull your hands out of the pickle jar, turn off Jerry Springer and and actually find some facts to back your empty claims.

Anyways GO VOTE MCCAIN and shut up. You obviously are to bitter to see reality.

Please describe just one, one single meaningful accomplishment of presidential stature by the most excellent Mr. Obama. Other than talking real sweet and dressing real pretty, that is.

Answer:

Let's start off by not only beating Hillary by playing by the rules they both agreed on in the beginning! He's also about unifying not only our party but also the wold!!! HELLO!!!! This was a contest, in every contest there's a winner and a loser, unfortunately for you Obama WON!!!

And he will continue to win ALL THE WAY TO THE WHITE HOUSE!!!!

I am happy that you joined the Republican ranks as of yesterday because you are no longer welcome in the Democratic Party. There are such stark differences between John McCain and Hillary Clinton that I still can not see how someone can go from Clinton to McCain. Obama and Clinton's policies are 95% the same.

Go ahead and vote for McSame, but that just tells me that you never really stood by democratic ideals to begin with. As for McCain beating Barack in a debate, that is funny (ha, ha, ha). As he demonstrated last night he does not have the oratory skills for such a task. Hillary Clinton may have been a match for Obama in debates, but I have no doubt that he will clean the floor with John McSame.

Obama will not win. I am not a racist, though I know you B.O. people like to invoke that drama. He is not right for the job. He is so over his head as it is. McCain will make him look like a schoolboy.

Signed a very well educated person.

Kim   June 4th, 2008 6:53 pm ET

If the tables were turned and Hillary got to the nomination as closely ahead of Barack Obama, no one would be arguing to allow Barack to "take his time" and "give him his space." As a 53 year old African American professional with a Ph.D., I wept at Obama's speech last night as a culmination of all my parents worked for and sacrificed. My mother is 88 and lived to see a Black man possibly become President of the U.S.A. and all Hillary could do was pander to herself and Bill to try once again to steal Obama's limelight. That was hurtful to me as a woman and as an African American. I am so over her. I do NOT want her on the ticket in Nov.

Sheanne   June 4th, 2008 6:52 pm ET

What Obama supporters and the media just don't get is that the more you push Hillary the harder she'll push back. Newscasters were belittling her on camera and instead of being appalled they laughed.

Let her be. It was reported that Hillary will concede on Friday. If tables were turned, Obama backers would be reacting a lot worse.

I am re-registering my party affiliation tomorrow to Independant. May the one who tells the most lies win.

Mariann Pepitone   June 4th, 2008 6:52 pm ET

janey: I agree with you and yes, she would make a good VP for McCain plus her campaign workers and may of her voters would vote for MdCain and I believe he would win the presidency. I don't know if you are aware that Hillary was republican when she was younger because her father was a republican. Then she met and married Bill Clinton who was a democrat and she became a democrat. But she can revert to republican and get on McCain's ticket. McCain would win without a doubt. Or she can run as an independent and divide the democratic party. I think she should do that for the way the DNC treated her and Richarson, Kerry, Kennedy, Dean, Nancy, Reid and others and how the DNC went behind the scenes to make sure the superdelegates voted for Obama.

Al Ferdwell   June 4th, 2008 6:50 pm ET

Hillary is a boat anchor at this point. She has gone over the deep end. It's time to go in a new direction. So, if it's gender politics we're all so concerned about, let's really go to the left side of the party and tap Barbara Boxer as VP. We're going to lose the reddest of the red states anyway, and it's time to give the country a real choice. We don't need Bill Clinton running a shadow government, or even the appearance of it.

Denise P Quinton   June 4th, 2008 6:49 pm ET

Jim Webb is against women in military uniform so that would be someone great to campaign with OBAMA, I know that for a fact as I remember his comments regarding female USNA graduates! So he should really improve the status of how women relate to Obama.....do some research CNN and see if you can come up with something that is not against Hillary for a change....you seem to go so much out of your way to moderate comments against Obama and his entire followers can say anything and post the rudest, most controversial comments but the moment Hillary backers post, you either remove it or block it for some unknown reason...

Chris, Germany   June 4th, 2008 6:49 pm ET

If you are a Clinton Supporter, you are sharing her democratic views and agenda. The ONLY logical thing to do is to support Obama as he is much closer to that agenda than McCain will ever be!

A vote for McCain is irresponsible. Do you want your great country to continue to diminish in power? Do you want more of your fellow countrymen to loose jobs to overseas companies, because the US are not competitive? Do you wish for your economy to go broke? Do you want more fellow Americans to die in a war that can never be won, or else it would have been long ago? Well, then go ahead and vote for McCain, or stay home cause "Obama took your playtoy".

What America now needs, and this is the most important thing it needs, is a new wind, fresh ideas and policies, a fresh attempt at tackling the most pressing issues and challenges facing your country today. Don't throw away your future by putting McCain in the White House, or helping him by staying home. Go out and vote, go out and do what's best for your country, your economy, your children's future, your status and role in the world, your security, your healthcare coverage and your future – vote Democrat, vote for Obama!

I think Hillary Clinton should concede and leave the Democrate party, period. ..and take her supporters with her. The Dems have thrown her and her family under the bus and the media has run over her. The dems and media are so shameful I do not understand why Sen. Clinton would want to be bothered. I will never vote Democrat again and my vote will be a vote against the CNN and MSNBC and Democrat party.

The Clinton's should ride into the sunset and enjoy the rest of their lives and tell their supported to go to McCain.

I am a white. middle age woman. I was a Hillary supporter, however she has brought the proverbial 'I am woman, hear me roar' statement to another level.

It is very manipulative and destructive, the way she acted last night. The issue is not Hillary, Obama, or McCain.. it is really the Economy, War, healtcare, Education and Alternative Fuel Options..

McCain will keep the tax cut for the hard working average rich American. While the middle may not have tax increases, but they will have no job.

McCain will keep us in Iraq, he will make a stupid Bush statement and start a war with either Iran or N. Korea becore the end of his second term.

McCain does not want to provide healthcare to everyone, but prioritize it which will keep those who have no insurance without insurance.

Many American cities have high school drop out rates at 30+%. McCain will continue with no child left behind, he will not invest in education, even with vets because the republican goal is to not educate our young people. Therefore, when Barack explains diplomacy, the youth will not be educated enough to know that there is other options besides fighting.

McCain loves War! He will continue down the Axis of Evil path.

Lola   June 4th, 2008 6:46 pm ET

Never has a nominee been forced to chose a vp. Obama has worked very hard over the past months in the field and at the end of the day he has earned the right to select whomever he wants.

suz   June 4th, 2008 6:43 pm ET

A debate between McCain and Obama would be great. Obama would have to think on his feet–without a speech writer–which we know he cannot do. McCain sure can though.

Former Democratic for Clinton, Republican as of yesterday!

rusty   June 4th, 2008 6:40 pm ET

The republicans are already making campaign commercials using Hillary in her own words degrading Barack. So, how can she be a VP for Barack, when the Republicans will be using her own words to campaign against him. For once in her life, she needs to be held accountable for her actions. And, by the way, it is time for her to concede.

And let's not forget about those hardcore women's right activist that would not vote for Obama. Let see if McCain gives a hoot about you and your freedom of choice.

Clinton Supporter   June 4th, 2008 6:39 pm ET

Barack, dude, lighten up. We know you were so nervous over Clinton's win in WVa that you staged a smack-down event to steal her thunder. So, HC wins her last primary (she's been wiping the floor with you time after time here), then wants to thank her supporters.

What does Barack do? He stages a mega-event in Minnesota and literally CROWNS HIMSELF. Forget the last two state primaries and the people who waited 6 months to vote in them. He's so scared something might happen, he does it for himself.

The DNC just dragged you limping across the finish line, which you couldn't do for yourself. Somehow they figured out that Edwards and others' votes in Michigan were really for you. Brilliant – and I bet that cost plenty. You should be grateful, dude.

I can't imagine why Hillary should play your I"m The KING game just because you behave badly. Take a hike, man. "I am the NOMINEE."
So what? You'll be the nominee in August. Jump up and down all you want – what an arrogant baby you are!

Hillary will get around to you shortly. She just pumped you up to the right wing Israeli LOBBYISTS you pretend you like. Take it and shut up!

J. Brooklyn   June 4th, 2008 6:39 pm ET

I am an Obama supporter and I must say, people should ease up on Hillary. She is competed in a historic race as the first woman to receive such a tremendous response and almost 18 million votes. I think she should be applauded for that!

The bottom line is she has a tremendous amount of support in this party and should be a contender for VP. Nothing against Edwards and Richardson but they could not deliver the votes when they were running, so why do we think it will work out better to have them as a runningmate.

I think that we should not rule out solutions that will unify our party if they can deliver a win for us dems in November. McCain is horrible and must be stopped.

I am constantly becoming more aware that since McCain has been in Washington for so long people do not really look into what he represents. He is against a woman's right to choose, for privatization of social security and then there is Iraq. I think that those Clinton supporters who say they will vote McCain in the fall are not real dems.

Hey Brian & Lucy how about a little respect, Sen Obama won the contest fair and square. We all know that you both are republican voters trying to disrupt the democratic primary. You both had no intention of voting for Clinton or Obama.

Your work is done the party is split, you can go back to GOP now.

Go home where you belong, see you both in November.

Who does "Hill" think she is? Hers has become the most self-serving campaign I have ever seen (and I'm a 60 year old woman). She needs to "woman-up" and let the presumptive candidate find a VP on his own terms. She could do this gracefully by encouraging her supporters to back off but just do it!!!!!

COLIN POWELL IS A LOYAL REPUBLICAN : DATING FROM PREZ

If experience counts for something, then its experience fault, that this countries in the mess that its in. Lack of experience doesn't mean one doesn't have the know how. Question, on your job ,do you do a better job than some of the ones who have more experience or longevity? If yes, see what I mean!1

Whoever stops fighting first, always looses. Why on earth should Senator Clinton concede? This great country is about giving everyone a chance and she should fight until she is ready to stop!

There is something wrong with a person who urges someone to give up. If that is what YOU were urging Clinton to do then you should reexamine how you live your own life – are YOU a quitter when you believe in something?

AMERICANS CAN SEE THRU THIS FARCE . HILLARY IS OUT OF THE RUNNING FOR VP ON OBAMA'S TICKET.
THANKFULLY ,HILLARY HAS BEEN SMART AND LOYAL AND CONCERNED FOR HER 18 MILLION SUPPORTERS AND ASK FOR THERI ADVICE.

tyrik   June 4th, 2008 6:31 pm ET

I don't see how Sen. Obama could put Sen. Clinton on the ticket with him after the way she attacked him in this primary season. First she said that he isn't even qualified to be president, then she says that she would accept the vp position. That just shows me that this race for her was about her and not the party or the voters. She won't even acknowledge the fact that she lost. In her speech she said that she want the 18 million voters that voted for her to be heard and not invisible anymore. But when Obama was winning all those primaries she basically said that those voters did not matter because " those were just small states". Please don't pick her as vp.

tracker   June 4th, 2008 6:30 pm ET

You people still don't get it...OBAMA will not become president no matter who campaigns for him....Hillary won the popular vote But Again it isn't the vote that counts...As far as the Kennedy's go who made them god??? I am sick of hearing who backed Obama..Lets see Uncle Teddy( a want-a-be president), Caroline,( because uncle Teddy ask) ( Dean (after his run he shouldn't be backing anyone we still hear his scream) Kerry ( what happened to his run??( I hear he is making Ketchup now) Richardson,(better hope he can get a job with Obama he will not be voted in again) Carter what a great president he was( NOT he is selling peanuts now) I can go on and on but you people are to stupid to hear the truth..We are hoping Hillary runs in depended so she can take the vote from Obama and McCain...She can do it without a doubt....We will not vote for Obama no matter what Hillary does We Can Not Stand Him....If i were Hillary I wouldn't give a concession speech either...OBAMA is the real loser here along with the democratic party.....No Hillary no WHITE HOUSE..Lets see if this gets posted with all the free press Obama got and this is against him I doubt it......

Margaret   June 4th, 2008 6:30 pm ET

I've been reading the same thing on ever blog from Clinton supporters who say they will not vote for Obama. That's your right, but I just need to say this...Obama did not 'steal' the nomination, he won it. FL & MI broke the rules but they still got a pretty good deal (those 4 delegates in question would not make a difference), also, Clinton DID NOT WIN the popular vote, in fact it was nearly a tie!! Obama also got over 18 million votes...everyone made their choice, please respect the fact that Obama won, fair and square...Senator Clinton is making herself look bad but being a sore loser.

God bless America, Democrats in '08

Scoreboard   June 4th, 2008 6:30 pm ET

Janey,

It is obvious you are not smart. You obviously voted for Hillary on the sole purpose of backing a woman no matter how wretched a candidate she was, and now are backing her would be opponent because you are a sore loser. At the end of the day, Hillary is dominating the news not because of what she's done, but because of whagt she hasn't. She has run such a distasteful campaign that the media is waiting for her to undermine Obama for a chance to lose again in 2012.

Barbara   June 4th, 2008 6:23 pm ET

Barack, please don't pick Hillary.

I too have lost all respect for the entire Clinton family.

Obama, I know that you are a very, very bright man, please do not
pick Sen. Hillary Clinton for your VP. Its like putting water into hot oil.
In her mind (only) she is a scorned woman. The sad thing about that is, she did it to herself. You are for change, she is the worst of the publitity correct. She cannot except being #2 to a black man period.

I don't care who is going to campaign with Obama they do not know the first thing about running the country or foreign policy. Hillary has been to several countries and knows the ins and outs. She can also make or break Obama right now by declaring herself as an independent on the ballot. The would split the democrats and who cares. I am a democrat voting for McCain if Hillary is not on the ticket and I am advising all my friends to do the same.

With due respects to Senator Obama for running a good campaign, despite needing four times the money and the title of "media darling" to win.

His supporters need to realize a few things... They have been rude and disrespectful to Senator Clinton therefore, rude to her supporters... What they are failing to realize is that HE NEEDS HER, SHE DOES NOT NEED HIM and we will NOT support him, which means, he will in fact not have enough votes to win in November...

I would start being a bit respectful if I were you...

Hillary Clinton is doing a great job. Her strategy is flawless. I hope she does not accept a V.P. spot. I believe sincerely she is more valuable and can do more good for the United States on her own. And frankly, I believe that the U.S. of A. is now doomed to 4 or 8 years (if we last that long) of horrible, inconsistent, and reckless decisions.

I never cared for James Carville, but his support and contributing remarks for Hillary over the past months, have made him my "new hero."

If I never see or hear Cafferty again, that will be too soon. The man is hateful, but what else can you expect from a drunk.

Donna Brazil is funny...Anderson Cooper's Boo - that was great! Also, her neutral position impressed me greatly.

"It would be a grave mistake to vote for McCain over Obama."

Because of the DNC and their manipulations, they have lost the best candidate they have had in decades. I have to say, I like McCain almost as much–I think Hillary should be his VP.

Growns Up Finally Taking Charge   June 4th, 2008 6:01 pm ET

Hey Mike...I wouldn't get to morally superior considering Paul vs. Clinton has only just begun to get up to speed. Didn't the judge suspend Sen. Clinton from having to provide testimony until the election. Since she won't be running for President and VP is up in the air I'm sure she'll now have all the free time the world (Bill too) to do their civic duty.

Ferdinand   June 4th, 2008 6:00 pm ET

What a historic race. Unfortunately history tells me Democrats will not win when we are divided e.g. Carter/Kennedy 1980. I was a staunch supporter of the Clintons and had met Bill personnally and absolutely reveered the man until South Carolina. It is time the Clintons get with the program or get of the stage. It is about tne Democratric party.

Do you think Hillary is saying in tha race to negativly affect Obama so he will lose and she can again run in 2012.

because if he wins she can not run until 2016.

Thanks.

Why democrats still nominate Obama despite knowing that Obama is involved with so many corrupt/radicals/pathetic people in the world ?

Or are these democrats waiting for researchers to declare that Obama indeed is 6th cousin of Osma Bin laden.

Judy   June 4th, 2008 5:56 pm ET

I was so sick of you saying how historical this was last night I almost puked. What would have been historical is if a woman won in DC. Just another man won. So what he's black. Big deal. And he just barely won. You were all acting like this was a mandate or something. She has 18 million voters and WE DON'T LIKE OBAMA. She better take her time and think about what she is going to do with her 18 million voters because I have news for her, there is nothing she or he can say to get me to vote for him. If FL and MI had been counted in the beginning the election would have taken a completely different turn and she would have won. I feel like Al Gore in 2000. I won the popular vote but I lost and I was CHEATED! We hate Obama. He cannot win the electoral college. Just look at the states that he won. Look at the states she won. She won the electoral college. She did not concede because she is telling him I have 18 million voters and they don't like you much and I have no idea how I am going to get them to like you and unite this party. This was a 50/50 race. And the 50 of us that got cheated out of it are hopping mad and it won't get any better between now and November. I have not been this mad since Richard Nixon or Ronald Reagan won. I worked for the EPA then and every day was sheer agony as Reagan stopped us from doing our jobs. I know what hate is and this is hate. She can't do anything to bring the party together. The hurt runs too deep to get over. WE WOMEN WILL NOT VOTE FOR ANOTHER MALE.

Carl J   June 4th, 2008 5:53 pm ET

I have always been a democrat and during this campaign did not have any preference, I have always voted for the democratic candidates in my state regardless of their gender and most of the are female. I am sick and tired of the fanatics of Hillary and how they always end saying that her loss has to do with the fact that she is a female. When I finally decide to back Obama, why did I did so, because Hillary is the most selfish, arrogant, meanspirited candidate I have seen run for the democratic presidential spot. Before the primaries started I really thought she was going to win, but the only people to blame for her loss is her and her fanatics who tried to find any excuse to explain why they were not winning in order to blame others. To the point that if you did not vote for her the only reason had to be because she is a woman, there cannot be any other reason for them and if you cannot find a good reason to vote for her well the fact that she is a woman should be good enough. Even worst another important reason according to them was that she was the only candidate able to attract that very important democratic sector of voters that would not vote for Obama because he is black, yeah the famous racist vote. If Obama looses and Hillary thinks she is next in line, get ready because if their point that Obama cannot win without their votes is true the same goes in the opposite direction.

You're pretty naive, Mike. It isn't not possible to conduct politics in Chicago without dealing with crooks. It is a good thing? No. Is it reality? Yes. Will Barack Obama have the mandate and allies necessary to effectively battle that same problem in Washington, DC? Yes.

Michelle   June 4th, 2008 5:50 pm ET

Black Republican - New York, New York   June 4th, 2008 5:50 pm ET

Obama has some popular white guys in his corner. This looks bad for McCain.

That said, if Obama wants to lose bgi time, he can go ahead and pick Hillary as his VP. The woman is so hated that a black unknown political rookie beat her! Geesh!

Hillary is prolonging her concession remark because she wants Obama to make her his VP on condition that he serves only one term and then she gets two run and serve one term in 2012. She may even ask superdelegates to approve this.

But Obama would do well to ignore this, because he is dealing with a devil in the flesh who makes promises she cannot and does not keep. Remember Florida and Michigan? Oh yes, she made a promise and then went back on it.

If Obama wins, and that's along shot right now – this should be his top five:

PRESIDENT OBAMA
VICE PRESIDENT RENDELL
SECRETARY OF STATE KERRY
ATTORNEY GENERAL EDWARDS
DEFENCE SECRETARY POWELL

McCain, meanwhile, should name Rice his VP and Romney his Federal Reserve Chairman.

Karen in Fla   June 4th, 2008 5:48 pm ET

Akman, are you serious? PLEASE tell me that was sarcasm...

The so-called "Unity" that Obama thinks will happen – that everyone will just fall in line as soon as he says so – isn't going to materialize the way he hopes. And his snotty supporters are only making it less and less likely to ever happen.

Algoabob- Obama is not "MY" candidate. I have believed him to be too inexperienced since this farce of a primary race started and nothing that has happened has changed my mind. The last person who preached "CHANGE!" and had little experience has been in the Oval office for 7 1/2 years and see where that got us.

HILLARY CLINTON DID ACKNOWLEGE OBAMA AS THE DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE.. PEOPLE SEEM TO WANT TO SEE HILLARY GENUFLECT TO OBAMA BEFORE THE FORMAL NOMINATION. AMERICANS ARE NOT IDIOTS AND HAVE NOT
IGNORED THE FACT THAT THE DNC, H. DEAN AND THE RULES COMMITTEE DENIED THE VOTERS OF MICHIGAN AND FLORIDA
A FULL VOTE THEY DESERVE. HILLARY IS WAITING FOR THE CONVENTION TO FORMAL;LY NOMINATE OBAMA AND BRING FULL VOTING RIGHTS TO MICHIGAN AND FLORIDA VOTERS AND MAKE HER VOICE AND HER 18 MILLION SUPPOTERS HEARD.
SHE CANNOT JUST ABANDON HER SUPPORTERS TO OBAMA AND HIS AIDES WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT OBAMA IS GOING TO SAY
AFTER HIS OFFICIAL NOMINATION. ALL THESE PUNDITS AND NAYSAYERS ABOUT hILLARY NOT CONCEDING ARE A BUNCH OF OBAMA PANDERING SHEEP. (OR GOATS)
HILLARY HAS A RESPONSIBILITY TO DO WHAT IS BEST FOR HER 18 MILLION SUPPORTERS., SHE CAN WITHSTAND ALL THE CRITICISM FROM EVERY SIDE , IN HER CONCERN AND BENEFITE FOR HER SUPPORTERS. ALL POLITICIANS AND PUNDITS CARE ABOUT IS COURTING OBAMA'S FAVOR, NOT THE 18 MILLION PEOPLE WHO VOTED FOR HILLARY CLINTON.

Rezko's guilty verdict on 16 of 24 corruption counts could have broad repercussions for Blagojevich, who made Rezko a central player in his cabinet. It could also prove a political liability for U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, who once counted Rezko as a friend and fundraiser, as the likely Democratic presidential nominee heads into the general election campaign against Republican John McCain.

CHANGE? It sounds like the same old spin OBAMA. Actions speak louder than words.

Quote: "How about Caroline Kennedy choosing herself for Obama VP?"

Well, how 'bout it?

Maybe she can relate to Obama the folly that JFK embarked on with his idea that he could be diplomatic to Khrushchev, and his subsequent resolve that the only way to deal with a tyrant is to threaten military force.

After all, Obama does constantly bring up JFK's approach to dealing with tyrants.

It's too bad that Democrats don't know their history; particularly about the conference in Vienna that led to the Berlin Wall and the Cuban Missile Crisis.

At least JFK was smart enough to learn from having his clock cleaned; Obama, not so much.

It is funny how these female supporters for Hillary Clinton are so upset, they are ready to go to the dark side. They are ready to join McCain team. Even started a fundraiser for McCain. Even though McCain said he will look for Justices that can review Roe v. Wade. They don't care. They say that females fought for the right to vote and now they have the chance to have a female in the White House. They forget that blacks could not vote, and at one time, the females that fought for women rights, fought so that blacks could not vote. I find these organization are just what everybody has said they are, racist. There is no other way to say it. They have Harriet Christian behind them and she already said racist comments on youtube and on FoxNews. Not even Hillary will back these women group. That should tell you something.

Your angry, sarcastic and arrogant verbosity will make sure that anyone who even had 2nd thoughts about Obama will stay home or vote McCain as most of us Hillary supporters are. You're on your own and I'd wish you luck but.............as one of you so eloquently put it – "the hell with Hillary, we don't need her". Cool. McCain is a moderate Republican with a proven record of bucking his party's leadership. He takes $0 in earmarks for Arizona. He is qualified for the office and would be a competent leader. I can't say the same for Obama.

The feds are trying to cut a deal with Rezko so they can go after the Gov. of IL and other politicians that received money.

How is it that Obama's "friends" are so corrupted and divisive? How is it that Obama is still ignorant to the facts surrounding him? He never knew Rezko was that kind of guy? Yet still did a Real Estate deal with him when he was being investigated by the Feds? If it is about judgment, then the DNC picked the WRONG candidate.

GOD BLESS U.S.A

What does Caroline Kennedy know about what the people of America want? She has stayed out of politics and the public eye until now? Was she already asked to be VP? That would explain her sudden attraction to politics. It would also explain Ted Kennedys endorsement over the wishes of the voters in his state. Obama is the presumitive nominee. Until the conventions, no one including McCain, are the nominees. the convention is when the actual votes will be given, until then anything can happen. I will wait until the convention to see the actual results. Out of three possible scenarios on popular votes, Obama is ahead in only one. He is not my nominee. If he is the actual nominee in August and that seems likely, I will at that time know how I will vote in November. I suspect I will have to vote for Hillary, by write-in

"Obama predicts party unity? We would already have a unified party and an infinitely stronger chance of winning back the presidency if he had supported Hillary a year ago instead of starting prematurely to run for president."

Oh come on, that's why Clinton lost. Her message was: "Vote for me, its inevitable I'll be the candidate". No one deserves inevitability in securing a nomination. Not even an incumbent. Remember how Lieberman lost the Democratic primary to LaMont?

And saying he ran prematurely? Clinton officially declared before him... If you mean because of age or experience, one of the greatest presidents in our history only had 2 years in national office. This is the fellow politician from Illinois, Abe Lincoln.

Hillary may have the best strategy to help Obama. Get everyone including the not so intelligent that have supported her to hate her and realize how bad she is. Then finally they will see the light. Independents love Obama, and always decide the election. They also hate Hillary. It does not matter who is in politics there is always this group of lower intelligent people who fall in love with someone because they say the right thing. Hillary to her credit did a good job of winning these people over. Chavez does it in Venezuela too.

Brian Knoxville, TN   June 4th, 2008 5:22 pm ET

When Obama spoke in South Dakota last Sunday, he made me feel bad about myself. At the end of his beautiful speech, he told a story about going to a little town in the "sticks, " in the "middle of nowhere, " and said that the little crowd of twenty people who came to see him starting shouting "fire it up!" and he said that he was so uncomfortable because he didn't know what they were talking about.

As the moment in his story dragged out to emphasize his discomfort, I thought, "Are they racists who are going to burn him?" Let me tell you, I felt so bad about myself as a white person when he revealed that the point that the people were making is that we have to fire up our enthusiasm. I asked myself, "Am I a racist for thinking that that's what he meant, that ‘fire it up’ meant that these hicks were going to burn a black man? " And I thought, "I better vote for him, or people might look at me and see a closet racist…"

Now that's one piece of effective oratory!

I mean, how could I not vote for Obama like so many others who want to display how enlightened they are?

Obama's the nominee because he had good enough judgment to wait until 2005, in the months after he was elected to the U.S. Senate, to buy his nice house and little piece of extra land from Rezko in an under-the-table deal.

Obama say on thing means another and does neither. He is protecting himself to show who he really is. The Phrase he used on Hillary, " We were friends before this and will be friends after this" We know now what it means.Dr Wright my friend and mentor before and discarted after when he became a liablity to the campaign

Anonymous   June 4th, 2008 5:16 pm ET

I think HRC needs time to come out of this...you know what they say about loss: the first stage is denial...she just happens to be going through it on the most public of stages...the rest of the Dem party will be basically have to ignore her "non-concession" in effect, and just move forward while she comes around. They know that she can raise hell either in a positive or negative way, and letting her save face and then blow off steam first is the only way to make sure they will get the best out of her. Like it or not, they will continue to placate her to know end because it's "the lifestyle to which she's become accustomed" (to borrow from alimony nomenclature).

Oh, and way to go VA guys!! (had to comment on the actual story at hand lol)

Deborah Houston, TX   June 4th, 2008 5:14 pm ET

Hillary is acting in the best interest of herself. I remember hearing this story about two people who wanted this child and the King said that he would settle by having the child cut in half and giving each a child. The women said no, just give her child to the man. At that point she was granted custody.

Hillary if she loved and cared for her supporters she would conceed gracefully and insure that they have healthcare, brighter futures, and a leader that holds their best interest at hand and not setting the on fire to shoot themselves in the foot with McCain just to make a point. McCain doesn't care how he gets in the white house as long as he gets there.

Hillary wants a puric victory. "It is a victory won at to great a cost." She is hurting the party, her followers and the Clintons legacy. She appears to not know what it means to be humble, appreciative of a country that has given her so much and respected democracy.

Karen   June 4th, 2008 5:14 pm ET

These Clinton backers are terrible politicians. They refused to withdarw from the contest in the name of "campigning spirit" even when math did not work. Now, they turned around to push for a Clinton VP spot in the name of grabed votes after getting lost. They are not fighting for voters; they are merely fighting for their own interest. They have no integrity, no grace, no dignity.

CNN, stop pushing for this joint ticket! The fate of these politicians will set an example for you. You have too many pro-Clinton moderators who will never let a message like this published.

Trang, Fremont, CA   June 4th, 2008 5:13 pm ET

Senator Obama,

As you ponder about your VP pick, think about this. Yes, Hillary's negative campaigning does drive many people away from her. Heck, I was ready to vote for her, two for the price of one. It sounds like a sure bet. I was waiting for this day ... the two Clintons, what more could I ask ... and then comes Barack Obama. All bets are off. He delivered one of the best speeches I have ever heard, moved me to the core, gave me hope for a better America. The two are similar on many issues, one is negative, one is positive, I go for the positive, and feel good along the way.

Putting campaigning style and personality aside, Hillary voted for the Iraq War. She labeled the Iranians guards as terrorist. She said she is willing to obliteran Iran. She is a war hawk and that's the difference. Yes, she said she'll bring the troops home, but that's due to public pressure. She never acknowledge her mistake in her decision. War and Peace is life and death situations. You should not choose Hillary as VP. Hillary can serve for other positions, but not VP. Look at the long term issue, and not just the election. I am confident you will win in the general election ... just maintain your positivity.

Kick Hillary to the Curb   June 4th, 2008 5:13 pm ET

I think K. Sebelius is the best choice. Hillary might be a national threat to the safety of Obama. Maybe she can be a the Attorney General or Secretary of State but not VP.

Val   June 4th, 2008 5:13 pm ET

Sen Clinton really needs some meds and especially the people that are following her and think she was done wrong, now they really need a doctor and some meds.

Ty   June 4th, 2008 5:13 pm ET

Republican for Obama

I'm so glad HRC lost. We already have a Pres. who does not plan well and does not know when to get out and spends money he doesn't have. We dont' need HRC following his tradition with her poorly planned campaign, poorly planned health care, poorly financed campaign and very poor judgement as to when to get out of the campaign! She still thinks she is running! HA! I sure hope Obama recognizes the idiocy of that. She can't keep Bill under control now... what would he be like with her as VP – Oh My G**...

pam Eugene OR   June 4th, 2008 5:12 pm ET

It appears that Clinton has her head buried in the sand. Please open your eyes Hillary. The fat lady has sung and Barack won. Just because you won't say it out loud it it true none the less.
We don't want to bash you or disrespect you Hillary. We just want you to do a reality check. You can not be the democratic nominee. We already picked one and it is over.
You can always run as an independent but last I looked you are broke and deeply in debt. You don't have any options Hillary so please give up gracefully and join the party. There is room for you, just not as VP.
Sorry, but you did bring this on yourself.
Come and play with us Hillary. This is when the "fun" starts and it would be good to have you along!

I grew up in Virginia and love Mark Warner. I thought he would be running for president this year. Everyone thought he would. That he didn't made me wonder if there was something out there that he didn't want coming to light. If he is vetted and clean, he would make a great VP candidate... But I also really like Sebelius. Just NO HILLARY!

In the meantime, would somebody PLEASE take Hillary Clinton to the woodshed. PLEASE.

RETIRED PROFESSIONAL W/WOMAN   June 4th, 2008 5:05 pm ET

Obama is great for our Country. It is time for us to back him all the way to the White House. Just watch, all of the people that Obama chooses
for his Cabinet will be a great team. I trust him. I am glad that
Carolyn Kennedy is involved.

I was so sad to hear about Ted Kennedy. The family is in my thoughts
and prayers as they have always been. I love the Kennedys.

Obama, or be fooled by McCain. Town Hall Meetings, No McGimmicks! I don't think he gets to call all the shots and have
the campaign go his way just because he will get free press and
has no money to campaign like Obama drawing crowds of 75,000
people!!!!!! If I was McGimmick, I would want free coverage and
"town hall meetings with no Gimmicks too!

Obama has had to put up with Hillary demanding debate after
debate and when it became too many, and Obama hesitated,
Hillary made Obama look bad. She actually "set up" Obama on
the last "horrible, make Hillary look good, debate." I think Obama
can be trusted to make his own decisions about how He wants
to campaign and let the phony grin on McGimmicks face for the
media to deal with.

By the way, How is Hannity, Rove, Carville, holding up???
Boy, they tried hard to hold a good man down and essentially
tried to destroy Obama. Didn't work, Hannity. And you were
going to become a priest? Or did I get that wrong? Mr High and
Mighty, Hannity?

Mike   June 4th, 2008 5:05 pm ET

Hey Obama,

Your 20 year friend Rezko was just found guilty of some counts. Funny how you admitted knowing he was a slumlord con and still did business with him.

Why are you the nominee?

rw in ct   June 4th, 2008 5:05 pm ET

How about Caroline Kennedy choosing herself for Obama VP. Sure her choices (be herself or others) would resonate with working women. Yep, some one living off a trust, never having to work for a living. I guess with Teddy still recuperating (and as disappointed as I am in him, I support his liberal policies and wish him the best) Caroline would fill in nicely, even if just as an empty Kennedy token.

aware   June 4th, 2008 5:04 pm ET

End the misogyny! There is no need for Hillary to rush her decision, and if you want any of her supporters to go to Obama, you need to show some respect!

We have more to worry about with an extreme left biracial presumptive nominee who has marinated in a Black Liberation Theology church under racist sermons for decades and who has very poor judgment in his selection of close friends. :(

Disillusioned Dems unite for McCain! Obama is the real Bush third term. Not all change is good – especially the change from far right to far left. Extreme = Extreme so Obama = Bush! :(

Growns Up Finally Taking Charge   June 4th, 2008 5:03 pm ET

Well whatever the drama being played out on the other side of the fence, it's clear to me that Sen. Obama isn't coming to a dead stop to cater to a wounded ego when he has a party to help unify, energize and get prepared for the GE in November. He doesn't have time for hostage games period because believe it or not this party just about Hillary or her supporters.

Will Obama due everything to embrace them into the fold as they spit in his eye and continue to throw tantrums under the guise of moral superiority and/or outrage? Of course. That's who he is. But make no mistake...he spoke about WE last night not I and that means he works for a whole lot of other people who do appreciate and support his efforts and are willing to make a difference that benefits us all. Carry on next POTUS!!

For anyone who does not want to vote for Mr. Obama because Mrs. Clinton did not get the nomination, go ahead, and vote for who you want to. We still have to put democrats in the senate and the house this fall

I always thought a vote was a private, personal matter. Why do you want to broadcast your vote?

For argument sake, if Senator Obama loses in November, we will remember how Senator Clinton acted on Tuesday, June 3, 2008.

Congratulations Mr. Obama. You ran a good campaign.

Congratulations Mrs. Clinton for being a gracious runner-up and putting the good of the party above your ambitions. You are a great role model for hardworking people who play by the rules. You have set a perfect example on how to accept defeat with honor. You are a model for unselfishness. I"m proud of you Mrs. Clinton!

I was VERY disappointed with Hillary Clinton's speech last night. She had an opportunity to speak to women about the significance of her groundbreaking campaign and heal some of the party's wounds, but instead she turned it into another opportunity to act like a child. She lost, fair and square. She could have brought the house DOWN if she had the right speech, but now her accomplishment will be tarnished because she is more concerned with winning than she is for women or the country!

The democrats did everthing to ensure obamas nomination. All undecided and edwards votes going to him. Giving him more delegates in states he lost like Texas and Nevada...more delegates than he deserved in Mich...since HE chose not to be on the ballot. Montana was annouced he had won when 0-2% of the vote was in. In my early years i register Republician...than about 15 year changed to Democrat now with the treatment they have given the Clintons the only pres. to get this country out of debt and have a surplus of money shown me the only thing fellow democrats want in office is what the Rep had the last 8 years a puppet to make profit off of including the puppet itself...I will now register indep or Green party I rather be in a party with no or little hope of becoming President than having no hope within a Party YOU WANT TRUE CHANGE LIKE OBAMA PREACHES THAN GET OUT OF THE TWO PARTY JOKE
I WILL VOTE NADAR AND THE GREEN PARTY TO SHOW A VOICE FOR REAL CHANGE

Joel-Minnesota,

McCain is a moderate Republican with a proven record of bucking his party's leadership. He takes $0 in earmarks for Arizona. He is qualified for the office and would be a competent leader. I can't say the same for Obama.

to a foolish "McCain Democrat"

Obviously you are not mature enough to realize that sometimes people do not get their first choice of a candidate. If you truly want to honor Senator Clinton, then grant her 2nd wish: a Democrat in the White House!

Any McCain Democrat will be voting for endless war, recession that may deepen into depression, no health care, rollbacks of women's rights and civil rights. Do you want another activist conservative judge on the Supreme Court?

McCain voted with Bush over 90% of the time last year alone – not to
mention his votes against American veterans.

If you want to throw a temper tantrum, go ahead but don't punish your country by voting for McCain.

Brian Knoxville, TN   June 4th, 2008 4:46 pm ET

Jim D,

I don't know, he is a snappy dresser and his pretty rhetoric sure does make me feel good about myself as a white male. He made me feel bad about myself only once with his pretty speechmaking. Last Sunday, when he spoke in South Dakota, he told a story about going to a little town in the sticks, in the middle of nowhere, and spoke about how the little crowd of twenty people starting shouting "fire it up!" and about how he was uncomfortable because he didn't know what they were talking about. As he dragged out the moment of discomfort, I thought, "Are they racists who are going to burn him?" I felt so bad about myself as a white person when he revealed that the point that the people were making is that we have to fire up our enthusiasm. I asked myself, "Am I a racist for thinking that that's what he meant, that ‘fire it up’ meant that they were going to burn a black man?” and I thought, “I better vote for him, or people might look at me and see a closet racist..."

But your comment about naming just one accomplishment has reminded me that no clear thinking person of any race can vote for a man who is too unknown, inexperienced and unqualified for the office of President of the United States.

Thank you.

Danel   June 4th, 2008 4:46 pm ET

i agree completely. i really WANTED to root for hillary, but they (and her angry supporters) made it impossible. i'm so disappointed in her, bill, her staff, and the way she ran her campaign. and then her non-concession and "playing politics" to the end by not being able to say that obama "won", soooo disappointing hillary.

obama will not pick her as VP, but he'll offered some high-level staff position cuz he knows she's smart. a part of me will always love the clintons cuz they were young, smart, ambitious, and SO WRONGLY attacked by the loony righties, but she's a very bad choice for VP. karl rove's endorcement of her is just the tip of the iceberg, a little teaser of how much the righties would soooo LOVE to have at the clintons again. and that of course would be disastrous to obama.

it's time for a fresh start. 98% of us americans, righties and lefties, have been $crewed over by 8 eight years of neocons (i dont even consider them republicans, and the REAL republicans out there should be fighting hard to get back THEIR party)!

mccain is scary in how out of touch he is with what's going on in this country, the people, and today's world. we cant go BACK in time and we definitely cant stay STAGNANT-and that's exactly what we would get with mccain.

it's time for the Keeper to head back to the Crypt!!!! let's unite and show the world that we have not become yeehaaaa-ing bozos, and that we want america to be a world leader again.

Beverly in Chicago   June 4th, 2008 4:43 pm ET

Wexler for VP. Obama doesn’t need Hillary. I do think Obama can relate to Hillary’s base. Chicago is a very diverse city; the Hyde Park neighborhood is an intellectual university area. Yet, there are areas in Chicago and this state which aren’t.

Personally, I think the working experience with the steel workers is a reason he, I think, can convert Hillary’s base. As you said, he would then prove he is a true leader. This is a great opportunity for him; which I as an Obama supporter can believe.

Also, I am outraged that Hillary is so much of a hypocrite. Where is the unity she spoke of? Hillary has convinced me totally she is power drunk; and can’t see certain elements in the big picture. The invisible parts are that she is the only one alienating her base.

Last night the voters said color doesn’t matter any longer; and that we want to move forward. Hillary, can mire in the past with her pre-historic claims cave men need not drag women any longer; elites are of touch (her claim that Obama is), and she is the best candidate on the planet.

I want change and I want it now. Clintons can’t be trusted. That is what I and my friends saw last night. Dr. King dreamed; Obama actualized.

Where's John Warner?   June 4th, 2008 4:43 pm ET

Hmmm...I wonder why Sen. John Warner is not joining the other Democrat Senators in campaigning with Obama. Maybe he's pro Hillary. Weird...I wonder why he still calls himself a Republican?

mndharmas   June 4th, 2008 4:43 pm ET

Good to hear some deomocrats are thinking ahead and moving ahead.
unlike others (shhhh,......) who want to be adulated, and don't understand the electoral process.

Don't get too comfortable on the campaign trail, Obama. Hillary is still going to the convention! You ain't got it till she says you got it. And she may never!

Brian Knoxville, TN   June 4th, 2008 4:42 pm ET

As he drag out the moment of discomfort, I thought, "are they racists who are going to burn him." I felt so bad about myself as a white person when he revealed that the point the people were making is that we have to fire up our enthusiasm. I asked myself, "am I a racist for thinking that that's what he meant? I better vote for him or people might look at me and know I might be a closet racist..."

But your comment about naming just one accomplishment has reminded me that no clear thinking person of any race can vote for a man who is too unknown, inexperienced and unqualified for the office of President of the United States.

Thank you.

Kevin from MN   June 4th, 2008 4:42 pm ET

As much as I hate listening to all the Clinton supporters say their are going to McCain.....its just as annoying to here all the Obama supporters rip Hillary to shreds. I'll admit, I'm getting pretty tired of her.......but she is a very formidable candidate, and ripper her to shreds isn't a very good way to promote the party unity that everyone seems to want.

Plus, after watching McCain struggle to lift his lips into a smile after every "gotcha" line in his lame speech last night..... I get the feeling most dissapointed Clinton supporters will change their mind after they actually start listening to what McCain is saying.

Glenn,
More people voted for Hillary then they did Obama and you want to say it is all about Hillary.
Funny how people only see things from their point of view, not 18 milliion others.
This has been a unique race. It's not like he put the whoop on her.
Someone said people loose sometimes like it was just another race.
This was the most unique race in history and they want to treat it like it was just another race. She got more votes then he did and that should not ge ignored.

The Party is uniting for November 4, 2008 and this is our time.

Congratulations to the Democratic Party on this Historical Year 2008!

I think Hillary should make a move toward taking it to the convention already!!! Tired of the speculation. I would love for the country to see her unbridled ambitious greed in clear terms. Then we could be rid of her and those foolish scorched earth followers that are spurring her on!! Go!! Do it and see what happens. I know she has the testicular fortitude. The last time I hear her name can't come soon enough.

Her payback will be in Trailer Trash Alley- western PA W. Virginia & part of Kentucky. She may try to hurt Barrack in Michigan but it want work this time. She needs to find out he will be on the ballott there.

Barrack in 2008, 2112 and Hillarious will be a forgotten part of history in 2016.

This is just another reason that if Obama wants to win in November, that he will need to have Hillary Clinton in the ticket as his VP, otherwise, he alone CANNOT beat McCain alone or with any other VP.

I am one of those supporters that unless Hillary Clinton is on the ticket, I will either write Hillary Clinton's name as a write-in, vote for McCain or just not vote!

If Obama is smart, he will offer the VP to Hillary Clinton and together, it will be a ticket that NO one will e able to beat.

Hillary Clinton as VP 2008

Carter should stick with peanuts!
Carter thinks it would be better for Obama to slap 18million voters in the face then it would to really unify the party. What better way to show how to unify then teaming with someone that has been your rival.
He acts like Hillary has more weaknessis then anyone else Obama could pick. He just doesn't want Obama's spotlight dimmed.
This is supposed to be about the peoples will not personal agendas.
It's not about Obam or Clinton its about the voters. 18 million democrates approve of Hillary Clinton. How many do you thinks will approve of any onther running mate he could choose.

Brian Knoxville, TN   June 4th, 2008 4:31 pm ET

Joel-Minnesota,

McCain is a moderate Republican with a proven record of bucking his party's leadership. He takes $0 in earmarks for Arizona. He is qualified for the office and would be a competent leader. I can't say the same for Obama.

Sorry, but McCain is not Bush (I know how easily you Obama fans fall for pretty rhetoric and slogans) and a McCain administration would not be a nightmare.

Nominee chosen based on the media hype, guilt, a fear of backlash from the Black community, and a jacked up Florida and Michigan primary. Neither front runners (Obama nor McCain) will get my vote. Sitting this fiasco out come November. One voice, no vote.

I really pray the Sen. Obama will not select Sen. Clinton as his running mate. Listening to her speech last night, I think his life would be in danger to have her only a heartbeat away from being president.

Carter say s unity ticket would be worst mistake , he is so right .I would not trust them. this is my first time i have given an opinion

People are you listening   June 4th, 2008 4:28 pm ET

I going to post this here. From my observation, it seems the Obama supporters really want Hillary as the VP. Wait Wait Wait listen to what I am saying. A lot of posts read I used to like the dream ticket idea and many were holding on to it until last night. But Hillary's unwillingness to be gracious in defeat and total like of respect for the moment leaves you no alternative but to request he look elsewhere for a VP. But I still don't think it is too late. Just one concilliatory gesture from Hillary and a lot would be forgiven. That's my belief.

CW4Barak,

If we're going to devolve to quoting Pfleger ("there is a black man stealing my show"), then may I direct you to the only true thing that Pfleger said: "out of nowhere came Barack Obama."

Obama came out of nowhere, all right. Other than giving pretty speeches and stroking the crowds to ecstatic climax, he doesn't have any experience whatsoever to be president of the United States.

Obama will lose in Nov, and we will all be better off for it.

John Smith   June 4th, 2008 4:26 pm ET

Obama has won this process WITHOUT the help of Clinton. In point of fact, Hillary and her supporters threw all the kitchen sink stuff at Obama and he still won "fair" and square.

So Obama does NOT need Hillary to screw this process for him. Hillary, Bill, and Chelsea should stay away from this ticket and the White House as far as possible. This nation cannot afford to deal with any more of the past or current scandals!

If the Clinton supportes want to roll over to McCain, so be it. No DEM should beg or worship these people! Both Hillary and McCain make the same old poor judgements with their years of tauted experiences. We need to move forward (change); this election is about CHANGE, not Queen Hillary or One-eyed McCain.

Joel-Minnesota   June 4th, 2008 4:25 pm ET

Maby it's too early, but for Hillary's supporters to be willing to continue to live the republican nightmare out of spite is INSANE. be careful what you ask for you just might get it!

J-M   June 4th, 2008 4:23 pm ET

Good. Obama may not stay close in WV or KY, but he can win OH and VA. But, to do so, he's going to have to win big in the cities and close the margins in the rural parts of the state.

He can certainly do this with the help of the VA Dems and Strickland in OH who is from the Appalachian part of the state. Even though Strickland is a Hillary guy, come fall, he'll be stumping for Obama in the SE part of Ohio, convincing those folks that Obama is not really a Muslim and stands up for Democratic principles, unlike John McCain.

Glenn   June 4th, 2008 4:23 pm ET

It appears that the overwhelming majority of Democratic office holders and Democratic voters across the nation are moving over to Obama and uniting. There will always be some losers in all parties who think that somehow they are better than everyone esle and should be accorded special status, such as Hillary. The only thing that Hillary cares about is Hillary! It is all about Hillary. She once again showed that she lacks character and integrity to make the critical decision. She showed tonight that this election was about Hillary, not the Democratic Party, not her supporters and certainly not about the country. Hillary is truly pathetic when she showed last night that she is not a team player.

It is not about them anymore Lea. Whether reality has set in for her or not she has lost. I am a little worried about her mental stability. Because there is something wrong with her. She lost. This is not about her being a fighter anymore. There is something mental going on here. Everyone keeps placating her and not realizing that there is something mental going on with her. She can't get her mind around the fact that she lost. That is an irrational or somewhat insane person that cannot accept reality.

Pepou   June 4th, 2008 4:20 pm ET

Brian in Seattle – not even close to the worst ever! He was an adaquate president at a bad (actually just bland) time in American history.

George "W" wins worst ever hands down. And that not just because he's the most resent in mind. His terms started by reading kids books while the World Trade Centers fell, presided over two terms of worsening economy, social elitism, corporate cronyism, and political appointments that bordered on crimes, and has ended with a pointless war that has mad the US less safe with more radical elements out to do us harm than ever before! Thats your worst president ever!
