White House congratulates Obama on victory

WASHINGTON (CNN) - The White House has congratulated Sen. Barack Obama on clinching the Democratic nomination for president, spokeswoman Dana Perino said Wednesday.

His victory - which sets him up to become the first African-American to lead a major party ticket in the race for the White House - shows how far America has come, Perino said.

She said President Bush, a Republican, did not plan to call Obama to congratulate him personally.

The media "crowned" John Kerry President throughout the 2004 campaign with all this glowing media coverage, just like they are doing with Obama today. However, look what happened. It will be interesting to see if it works this time or not.

The problem with America is that individuals blindly follow party doctrine. Instead of looking at the positive and negative attributes of each individual candidate party voters behave like lemmings, sacrificing all sense of personal objectivity and simple attack the other party. It is extremely worrisome that so many Americans vote strictly along party lines and despicable that people like this are deciding the next leader of the free world.

I truly do not believe that in any way; will Bill Clinton get Chairman of the Campaign position for Barack Obama. Barack's got some phenomenally talented people working for him and they will continue to do so until Inauguration day.

I was a Democrat for 14 years but left the party and have be Unaffiliated for about 10 years. Just based on the comments I'm reading, I'll likely be Unaffiliated for another 10. As soon as the average IQ of the Democratic Party rises about 50 point, I'll be sure to re-up.

HILLARY CAN'T CONGRATULATE OBAMA TO DO SO WOULD BE A CONCESSION & IF SHE CONCEEDS THE HER CAMPAIGN IS DEAD!!! HILLARY INVESTED AN ESTIMATED $20 MILLION IN HER CAMPAIGN WHICH SHE WILL LOSE IN AUGUST IF SHE CAN'T RAISE ENOUGH MONEY TO PAY OFF HER CAMPAIGN DEBT & PAY HERSELF BACK!!! ONLY ACTIVE CAMPAIGNS CAN RAISE FUNDS, THAT'S WHY TOLD HER SUPPORTERS TO VISIT HER WEBSITE TO TELL HER WHAT SHE SHOULD DO. WHAT SHE WAS REALLY SAYING IS DONATE,DONATE,DONATE!!! OBAMA SUPPORTERS IF YOU WANT HER OUT GO TO HER WEBSITE AND DONATE, I DID!!!!

    Hillary Supports...
Why do Hillary voters keep saying "He needs her (Clinton)"?
He owes her???? If anything She owes him (a apology).

She lost!!!!! Scream "Denver" all day and night but the fact still remains she lost. Hillary and Bill supporters please give them enough respect to let them get out with grace!

Why didn't Hillary run against Bush the last election? She would have surely won! SHE decided to wait and it was a bad decision that cost her. So, please don't bully and don't name call the victor and the media names. SHE lost by her own hands! Reports/Journalists and Obama supporters are not responsible for that.

The tantrums may work with your husbands but not in the adult world. Please vote responsibily and not out of anger. Look in your kids eyes and know you owe it to them to vote Democrate.

Democrats in the White House 08!!!!

Congratulations Senator Obama, and God Bless Senator Clinton Good Luck in your decisions. I pray you make a decision for the greater good and not just your angry bloggers!

Of course he's not going to call him and tell him congrats. He's been the subject of Obama's campaign efforts and his feelings are hurt because he's heard the truth about himself.

I think that Obama will live if Bush doesn't call him to congratulate him, given Bush's little 28% popularity rating! ha! LOL!

And Hillary still refuses to concede. You know, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, and if her supporters would prefer to stay home or vote "republican" rather that throw their support to Obama (who holds very similar issue views as Hillary) it's only because they are sore losers just like her. So in the end, we all lose. We get another Bush for another 4 years because she formed a "cult of the personality" instead of a candidate for the party. I don't think Obama needs her, to be honest, and I have complete confidence that he won't succumb to pressure from her to be the VP.

HRC suffers from severe narcissism. She has not acknowledged Obamas win yet. Again he won fair and square. To all of her disillusiioned supporters who are voting for McCain it is not Obamas fault she ran a terrible campaign. It is not Obamas fault that her husband cannot control his temper. If he takes her as vp he will be taking nothing but baggage.
