Lanny Davis joins VoteBoth

Davis is a supporter of Hillary Clinton.

(CNN) – Lanny Davis, one of Hillary Clinton's most stalwart supporters, is stepping up his efforts to land Hillary Clinton in the No. 2 spot on the Democratic presidential ticket, joining the group VoteBoth.com as a senior adviser.

The organization was set up several weeks ago by former Clinton aides with the initial mission of landing both candidates on the same ticket, no matter what the order. In recent weeks the group has pivoted to expressly advocating for Clinton to serve in the No. 2 spot.

Co-founder Sam Arora says Davis, who has become a fixture on cable news shows, will be a "terrific advocate."

"He’s going to be out there making the case for how the Obama-Clinton 'dream ticket' puts Democrats in the best place to beat the Republican machine in November," Arora told CNN.

Often appearing on CNN, Davis has been a tenacious advocate for Clinton during the course of the primary season.

Following Obama's speech on his relationship with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright in March, Davis expressed concern on the Huffingtonpost.com that Obama still had not answered several questions about the controversial pastor. In a Wall Street Journal Op-Ed a month later, Davis again pressed the Illinois senator to address "unanswered questions" about his former pastor more fully.

He also wrote an article on the Huffingtonpost.com in April titled "The Top Ten List of Undisputed Facts Showing Barack Obama's Weaknesses in the General Election Against John McCain.

VoteBoth.com also reports its petition seeking a unity ticket has maxed out its web servers. The petition includes several prominent Democrats, most of whom are backers of the New York Democrat, including Govs. Ed Rendell and Tom Vilsack and Sens. Chuck Schumer and Dianne Feinstein.

Clinton reportedly raised the issue of serving as vice president in a conference call with New York supporters Tuesday. Her campaign said the New York senator is willing to do whatever she can to help the party unify ahead of the fall election.

How the hell do you have party unity when you continue on trashing your fellow Democrat?

Lanny, he's no longer your opponent. With friends like you, who needs an enema?

Why is it that, unlike McCain supporters, one never sees any criticism of Sen. Obama from his supporters?

Is this what a personality cult looks like?

Give it up Lanny. Bill Clinton will allow himself to be vetted in order to qualify her for VP because of his business dubious business dealings. Hillary knows that as well. So does Obama. I understand you want some sort of comfort after your candidate has lost the nomination, but you are not helping her right now so stop the non-sense.

And the fight goes on. Hillary went to Yale Law School with Davis. He would not be pushing for the VP spot for her, if she did not ask him to do so. They underestimate Obama. He is a lot tougher than Hillary, Davis and Robert Johnson give him credit for.

I hope there is no place for Hillary Clinton on an Obama ticket. Such a move would run counter to everything Obama is about. That said, Senator Clinton is a valuable ally and I am sure can be helpful to the Democrats and the country in other ways. In the end it is Obama's call and I am satisfied with that.

On the other hand, Lannie Davis has said some very ugly stuff and, in my opinion, has contributed to what can only be described as race baiting during the primary campaign. I personally have no respect whatsoever for him. He is repulsive and frankly makes me physically sick every time I hear his voice.

Lenny Davis has no character. He is a political hack who will do/say anything to ride a potential gravy train that may further his career.

As someone who voted for Hillary in Indiana and have always voted democratic, I find Mr Davis and others to be doing the party a disservice. I am upset that Hillary did not win. I will now vote for and support Sen. Obama and it is his and his choice alone to pick his VP.

Hillary Clinton ran a historic race, but came in 2nd place. She is conceding on Saturday and rallying around Obama. Why can't Lanny Davis follow suit?

This is not going to help to unite democrats at all. Stop shoving her down his throat, it's his decision.

    Lanny – please go away.

Lanny Davis needs to shut up and mind his own business. I firmly believe that Obama has far exceeded any political and intellectual ability needed to choose his own VP, without a "Clinton Crony" trying to lay the ground work for yet another disaster. Hillary seems to believe that because she had 17 million votes that her opinion must to be accounted for. The fact is, if a team loses a basketball game 101 to 100, even if the last basket comes just seconds before the horn sounds, they still lose the game. Hillary needs to go back and learn how to be a senator (hopefully, without being under the influence of Bill ) before launching a new political career.

I hope CNN and other media outlets don't continue to grant air time to "one note johnny's" like Lanny Davis. For ever, we heard how he thought Hillary was "ready Day 1". Then we heard how he thought they should "change the rules" and give the nomination to Hillary. Now, he thinks she would "make a great VP candidate". OK, we get it. Lanny Davis supports Hillary Clinton. That is no longer NEWS.

The news is what Obama and McCain campaigns are saying/doing. It will be news when either of these candidates announce their selection of a running mate. It is not new who Lanny Davis thinks that should be (nobody is confused on that point).

I agree that some commentary is necessary with a 24-hour news channel. However, too much commentary (from people who really don't matter) and too little news is not going to improve the outcome and quality of this year's election.

Lanny is the most annoying person i have seen on television.

His every comment regarding Obama or one of his supporters has to be condescending and always begin with 'WITH ALL DUE RESPECT..'.

LANNY WITH ALL DUE RESPECT SHUT UP...NO ONE CARES ABOUT WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY!

I am a Hillary Clinton supporter[ well educated, high income ,positive ]. The Dem party treated her so badly she should have the dignity not to accept the V.p spot. She will be put out to pasture which will be hard but the people will teach the Democratic party a lesson. Barack Obama gave a brilliant speech at aipac yesterday but it was more of Hillary's position than what he was advocating during the primarties. He has stated flip floppping but love is blind so noone is noticing.

Good luck, but I tend to think she wouldn't take the job. Why play second fiddle to a neophyte? She'll spend all her time bailing him out and making him look good.

You're a good person, Lanny. And you're right. We'd all be better of she'd do it.

The US is full of political hacks but Lanny Davis may just rule them all. His commentary is so ridiculous that it borders on the dillusional. I don't have anything against Senator Clinton but listening to Davis is painful to the point where you almost have to change the channel. The fact that he thought she gave a great speech Tuesday that was graceful and magnamamous shows how out of touch with reality he is.

Davis a "terrific advocate"????? Are you kidding. I mute that guy or change the channel every time he comes on. If he told me my house was on fire, I'd settle in on the sofa secure in the knowledge that it wasn't. What a jerk. But, it's obvious, he doesn't want her to be VP. Anyone that really did would be quiet right now and never be so pushy and public – total turnoff – the methods and Lanny.
