Obama will ask the DNC to stop taking lobbyist and PAC money.

(CNN) — Barack Obama is set to ask the Democratic National Committee to no longer accept money from federal lobbyists or political actions committees, CNN has learned from sources at the DNC and the Obama campaign.

CNN has also learned Obama will ask one of his top operatives, Paul Tewes, to help the DNC with its fundraising operation, which has lagged far behind its Republican counterpart this year.

Tewes will be the Illinois senator's eyes and ears at the DNC and see to it that the party and the candidate are in sync, according to sources.

To poster Raymond Duke,
There is no "Whitey" racist video from Michelle. That is a right wing blogger lie. Do your research before you post garbage like that. That's the problem a lot of people have with Obama – a genuine fear, with old predjudices and bigotry that fuel hate or dislike. This is exactly the kind of cowardice and division we don't need in America. If you don't like him, then that's ok, but at least give better reasons to dislike him than inuendos and rumors; (he's a muslim, he's a criminal, slimey, etc). Start talking hard evidence about his policy that you dislike, because truly Obama and Clinton have almost exactly the same policy stances.

Chut Pata   June 5th, 2008 11:42 am ET

With Billary gone, there is no need for money from corporate lobbyist and special interest groups. McCain is poor in raising money (and has some principals compared to Bush), there Obama can raised double the McCain money thru "$5 internet donors" alone.

Good decision Obama. Another proof of your "Judgement" that qualified you to be the next prez.

To Thoughtful Democrats Everywhere:

I have real suspicion about the majority of the purported Clinton supporters who message on this (and other) boards about hating Obama and the Democratic party and supporting McCain in November. The vitriol is so over the top and divisive, and the fundamental message is almost always the same — abandon the democratic party, never give money again, vote for McCain, etc. The internet is a huge playground for those who enjoy masquerading. I think that Republicans with a "weaken the enemy" agenda – Rush Limbaugh types, not the run of the mill Republicans – are writing most of these messages, signing with a female name, and cackling at how "smart" they are. I bet most of them actually look like unattractive, corpulent and greasy Limbaugh types too. Are hundreds of thousands of progressive women really going to vote FOR the Iraq war and AGAINST a woman's right to choose? Doesn't make sense. They are much smarter than that.

Obama has already demonstrated how to remain polite and respectful of one's opponent even in the heat of the battle. Here's what I suggest: from now on Obama supporters don't need to respond the the supposed Clinton messages with attacks back at Clinton or Clinton's supporters. The target usually doesn't exist. Respond with appropriate support of what Democrats everywhere believe in. The party will come together. Bitter internet Republicans hoping to seed dissension will fade away and go back to looking at porn or hate sites. We've fix this country and make it a world leader and a nation to admire once again.

Carmen   June 5th, 2008 11:39 am ET

I wish the people will start looking at the positive side of this country. If you want ot be negaitive then move to a place wher people don't care about nothing, laws or each other. It is time we take back our country that our forefathers have promised us. Look and listen people a new day is coming and we need to unite and bring the United States of American back to origanal state and get create more love to this country, haters hate no more and if you want to hate go where others are hating and see how much you will be appreciated. Hillary is bitter and is causing a lot of confusion but Obama is not going to let her steal this show.

Rock on Obama because there are millions of Americans behind you and the new begining of a New Country.

I am please to see Obama take the nomination, this has truly been a historic election. However now its time to focus on uniting the party behind Obama to take back the whitehouse for the people. I understand some Hillary supporters maybe angry or bitter from these results but voting McCAIN Is only voting against your own best interests. We have to start looking at the real issues that are eating away at the foundation of our great nation. America will never realize its full potential so long as people vote out of fear, hatred, racism or gender bias. True Obama maybe young and not nearly as seasoned (and i do mean seasoned) as John Mccain. But i also feel that mean he has NOT been nearly as currupted by the politics. McCain represents the old ways of American politics ideal and fears. Its time for this country to stand for something new. The winds of change are coming ,get down or be left behind

NOW Obama proposes a” Lincoln/Douglas” debate to counter McCain’s initial proposal for a debate (such a debate is PRECISELY what Hillary proposed but Obama declined). NOW that he has his own thing in the bag (with the money of lobbyists), Obama wants to keep lobbyists out of the DNC — except that he will plant ANOTHER one of his operatives in the DNC — just like before. NOW that he has his own thing in the bag, he talks "tough" about terrorists — just like always. It makes me furious how Obama continues to steal other people’s ideas (even “Audacity of Hope” – Jeremiah Wright’s sermon) — and make them his own. IS ANYBODY LISTENING? What a fake and opportunist! I don’t applaud or support people like that! I prefer ORIGINAL thinkers.

Obama's wife "Whitey Rant" video (it''s actually a DVD) was offered for sale at Trinity United. It features a 2004 conference at the church dealing with racial issues. Obama's wife made the "why'd he.." refedrence at another event asking questions about President Bush's response to Hurricane Katrina which took place in 2005. The rant video exists and we'll see it in October.

It brings me to tears that people like you will keep my cousin in a war, my family fearing for his life every day because your of own stubbornness and inability to develop rational thought. When you vote McCain in this election, or vote for a candidate that is not a nominee, don't forget the blood that will be on your hands. Look, Hillary supporters, I give you mad respect because you hung in there even when people told you impossible. You have more in common with Obama than you realize outside of Democratic policies, didn't you have the nerve to hope that your candidate would make it beyond all odds. How is that showing loyalty to Hillary by trying to weaken a party that she loves and represents by voting for McCain and not supporting Obama. Oh, by the way, she will be announcing on Saturday that she will indeed do just that. I don't understand the thinking. Are you so closed minded that you would rather see another Bush Administration out of spite and revenge? I pray that the Hillary supporters stand up to the image that I have of them, and that's of being loyal Democrats.

Brian   June 5th, 2008 11:15 am ET

People that are supporting Hillary need to understand one thing, the election was not stolen from her. While she might have been a strong President, I would have voted for her had she been the nominee. She ran a poor campaign though. You can't get around the fact that she changed her message every month, she had Bill out causing problems for her in the background. She had issues raising money to keep her campaign running. All of those issues resulted in a poor image of her being potrayed to the public. Yes she won in some areas, and Obama won in other area's with different demographics, the fact remains that Obama does need the support of Hillary's supporters, just not at the cost of having to put her on the ticket.

The 2 of them nearly identical policies with their health care, Iraq exit strategy and so fourrth. If you take time to step back and look at the issues rather than the person you'd realize that Obama is the way to go if you are a 'true' democrat and not a flavor of the month type of voter.

I voted for Gore in 2000, and Bush in 2004. I regret supporting Bush in 04 due to his failed strategies, and policies. It's time to get someone in office that can start to clean up the mess that this administration has left us with. If you enjoy reading about Iraq in the news and more US Soldiers and Marines in the news, then Mccain would be the person to vote for. This conception that he is drawing that leaving Iraq will leave the US in danger is a joke. We are no safer now, than we were in 2003 when we invaded. It's time for a change, it's time for an end to this costly war. If you are so blinded by emotion and are voting mccain just because Hillary lost, or you want to write Clintons' name on the Ballot you are doing nothing to promote a change in this election. And if we get 4 more years of war because you're bitter that Clinton lost, then you have yourself to blame for not standing up for what Clinton and Obama stood for.

Dean used his organizations in all states when he was presidential candidate and used DNC money to build Obama compaign organizations or support him. I was Dean strong supporter and fund raiser. Now you got it. It is Dean create Obama. Remember, Dean was also strong anti-war candidate, all his compaign organizations went for Obama is natural. Obama better choose Clinton. Otherwise, I will predict that he loss to John McCain. Because so many of Clinton supporter are so angry.

NH for OBAMA08!!!!!

Tyler in Raleigh, NC   June 5th, 2008 11:12 am ET

I think he should propose (or the DNC) to fix the whole primary mess as well. No better way to admit the flaws in the system nd that every RULE ABIDING vote should count…..

The DNC did the right thing in enforcing the rules, after all what is a democracy if it does not impose some rules and order to make sure everyone has a fair chance. But the rules need to change to make sure that MI and FL never happen again and that we have a better system in 2012.

Obama won any way you slice FL/MI, so people need to get over that…. but it still shows that after >200 years we are still a work in progress.

Bill   June 5th, 2008 11:12 am ET

While I completely disagree with how the DNC handled FL and MI (in the beginning AND when it decided to re-seat any delegates – they broke the rules, stick to your word and don't seat them), I don't believe that's a valid reason not to vote for the better candidate in the general election.

Bill, an independent voting for change: Obama.

Darnell, NJ   June 5th, 2008 11:11 am ET

I have really grown tired of all the negativity on both sides of the democratic divide. I think that if this is the year that we truly "change" the way politics is done then it must first begin with the reality that this is the year that people our voting for individuals and not a party. The days of voting democratic or republican just for the sake of being a democrat or republican are over. This has been clearly demonstrated in the fact that states continued to vote for Clinton even though it was a far gone conclusion that she couldn't secure the nomination.

That being said, the challenge for Obama is to convince voters who did not vote for him initially, why they should vote for Barack Obama, the person. To simply say that he's a democrat & McCain is a republican isn't going to be to enough. Change means that the rules in how we vote have also change.

To my follow Clinton supporters, I ask that we take a breath & allow Obama to speak directly to us and tells us what specifically he will do as President that will be better than what John McCain will do as President.

To all Obama supporters, you must understand that the more you respond to Clinton supporters with negativity the more you harden their resolve. That leaves the option of either 1) taking the approach (as some have already stated of " we don't need them & can win it without them or 2) It is better to provide a environment of unity and communication that one of acrimony.

I for one vote for option #2. OBAMA 2008!

TN you and all those who voted for Hillary will vote Republican, so what. OBAMA did not win the nomination with her supporters. The 25% of Hillary supporters who will stay home or vote McCain will not affect the election. As a military officer ARMY and a moderate Republican OBAMA 10/20/30/40/60 strategy will win landslide in November. He needs only 40 to 60 % of the white vote and 70 to 80% of all ethnic groups in America. Wake up, we know places like TN, will stay red, but AL, GA, NC, SC, VA, WI, IO, NM, NV and 38 more states will turn blue. In the soul of every American is that buring light to do the right thing. Do we march forward with OBAMA or stay the course with McCAIN? You can best believe AMERICA is on the MARCH. Some of you have a blind opposition to good ideas because they come from somone you have personal grudges against. Sooner or later, just like Hillary herself, you will come to realize that this is not about Obama, it's about a nation inspired by his message. At least accept a good idea if not the man behind the idea! That would truly speak to your intelligence, not you pathetic biases.

And for goodness sake, vote for McCain if you think he's what is best for this country. Just don't have a cow over it. It's your right to vote for the candidate of your choice.

We know some of you won't vote for a black young man however right he is and it's ok, really! You are in the minority and thank god for the young generation. If they are an indicator of things to come, there is a a bright future for this country!

Great way to start. Clean house first. I was an Edwards supporter and this is one of Edwards main goals. Get rid of lobbyists and pac money. Now, I'm supporting Obama because I am a believer that he might have the same goal. Give the power back to the people and we would gladly fund your campaign.

Brian from Fort Mill, S.C.   June 5th, 2008 10:59 am ET

First, he changed the way the campaigns worked.

Before Obama, negative campaigning worked like magic. It worked with Willie Horton, the Swiftboaters, etc.

But then Obama came along and kept a positive campaign, against his advisors' advice.

Hillary threw the kitchen sink at him, and instead of throwing it back at her, he calmly kept with his message of hope and change. He only fought her on the issues, which there were only a few differences between them.

Hillary, Bill and Chelsea teamed up against him, and he still won.

In other words, for the first time in Presidential campaign history, POSITIVE campaigning WORKS!!

Now, he's going to shut down the lobbyists. He doesn't need them, because his money comes from millions of ordinary people who donate $10 and $20, instead of thousands.

Barack Obama, I'm proud of the way you've been running your campaign. Please, for the sake of the country, run your administration the same way. Stay positive, try to work well with Congress, and stay honest with the American people. We will forgive you if you're not perfect, but you must stay honest. If you do all those things, then you'll be OK in my book.

United we make a difference, not through anger and seperation   June 5th, 2008 10:59 am ET

I feel these are positive changes he's proposing, and it's a move in the right direction for politics today. It's also great to see him already jumping on making positive changes to the process he was just part of.

I also think that the financial numbers his campaign/team brought in from every day citizen supporters over an extended primary is pretty amazing. He has shown that if the people truly believe in a candidate, then they will support him/her, without having to heavily rely on federal lobbyists or political actions committees.

My mentor Mark Twain once said he didn't belong to any organized political party—he was a democrat.

When/if Senator Clinton bows out we'll have the same choice that we've always had: focus on the personalities or focus on the policies. I suspect that Senator Clinton will support Obama for the same reason I would support her if the situation was reversed: their POLICIES are nearly identical and VASTLY different than those of Bush-Cheney-McCain.

Do you want 100 more years in Iraq or an orderly redeployment?
Do you want heath care for all or just for the wealthy and the healthy?
Do you tax policy that favors the richest 1% or the not-so-rich majority?

Think about it.

Well, Obama is actually not a true African American (because he is half-white, half-black) but perhaps that is the best representation of America that there could be. After all, the United States is a melting pot of all races, religions, and political views.

MR OBAMA IS AN AFRICAN AMERICAN. HIS FATHER IS AFRICAN. HIS MOTHER IS AMERICAN. HENCE, AFRICAN-AMERICAN. AND WHETHER HE IS BI-RACIAL OR NOT, HE LOOKS LIKE A BLACK MAN. HE IS MARRIED TO A BLACK WOMAN, AND HAS BLACK CHILDREN…THEREFORE, HOWEVER YOU SLICE IT, ESPECIALLY IN AMERICA. HE IS A BLACK MAN AKA AFRICAN AMERICAN.

We all need to stop targetting eachother and figure our how to get our country out of this mess!! HRC supporters, voting for McSame is not going to make it better. He believes in the same thing as Bush.. You would only undo what HRC is trying to do. You are not hurting Obama you are hurting yourself!! Trust me there is nothing you can do to hurt Obama because he has shown how strong he is time after time! Stop being so hateful and get over yourselves! HRC lost so please lets move on!! If HRC would of won, I would vote for her because I am a true democrate and I believe in them both! Stop the drama and vote Obama. You are crying because you didn't get your way. every article has said in the past thats where hilarys problem came from utilizing big time execs to donate the maximum 2300 to finance her campaign, the problem is she ran out of them while obama had solid supporters that donated small amounts often.

She lost. By the rules. Delegates determine who wins the nomination. Hillary new this and couldn't get it done, all the while lying(popular vote claims, Bosnia), trying to change the rules after she agreed to them (MI and FL), accused Obama of being all sorts of awful things, and her supporters excused her.

Hillary cheated, lied, manipulated facts. She is an awful person. I am confident that the 18 mil you refer to are long gone. I know about 100 former HRC supporters that are disgusted with her and her tactics. I am sure there are many more out there. My guess is maybe 1 million former HRC supporters when time comes will vote for McCain. That won't do it. PRESIDENT OBAMA/PRESIDENT OBAMA

How many of you , if someone had come to you personally and convinced you to do someting by presenting you with false information to support their argument, and you later found out that they lied to you and it cost you something. I doubt any of you would trust that person ever again. Well that's what Bush did to all of us and what McCain wants to continue to do, as he filp-flops from one bad idea to the next.

United we make a difference, not through anger and seperation   June 5th, 2008 10:51 am ET

Kenneth attackers.

I don't agree that we can not move forward without Hillary supporters, but the numbers show that not every Hillary supporter is going to no show or vote McCain. Of those states polled so far, it appears that approximately 60+ % of Hillary's supporters state that they would vote for Obama today, in Obama vs. McCain. It's natural tendency for that number to be lower immediately once the primaries have been completed and grow as the election approaches (regardless of the party and election), so I feel confident that number will grow some by November.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'd love to have the whole country unite behind one nominee, to strengthen the entire country and it's movement toward fixing the issues and decline this country has been in over the last 8 years. United we can accomplish amazing things and all of history proves that (regardless of the country, territory, group, empire, time period, etc.).

The comments made by some people that they are going to vote for McCain because of the comments of an individual saying we don't need the Clinton supporters that are threatening to vote for McCain may be right in the fact that we don't need your negativity and threats (yes, that's what you're doing….threatening, attacking and trying to create fear in others) is true. I'm sorry that you feel that way but to state, and I quote, "because of comments from people like that, that is why I'm going to vote for McCain" is sad. You will vote for McCain, nearly a polar opposite on the majority of political stances that HRC took, because of a small minority of people commenting on here are angry with HRC??? Those people are willing to vote for the opposite of what their supported candidate (HRC) stood for in order to "teach people/DNC a lesson?? Do that then. Teach the country a lesson and let it continue to spiral down. Watch the issues you were supposed to have stood for continue to take steps backwards for another 4 years. That's teaching all of us a lesson……the DNC, those Obama supporters, Hillary supporters, Independent supporters, the country, it's stance at a global scale, and everyone in this country…..that includes my family, your family, and future generations. The decision on who to vote for isn't based on teaching a group a lesson, or bitterness/anger, it should be based on the overall best thing to do for this entire country.

We all, supporters of any/all candidates, don't need the negativity toward the Clinton campaign, and HRC, either. HRC fought a valiant, strong, campaign and the primary was so close and so heated that it was guaranteed to cause some anger/bitterness from which ever side that lost, but give attacking her does no good in any way shape or form.

I am a 70 year old immigrant who have lived here for more than half my lifetime and in all those years I have watched politics in this country from a distance and tried not to get involved other than by casting my vote for who I consider as the lesser evil of the candidates.

But this time, it is different. I have never been more inspired by any candidate for the office of the Presidency than Mr. Obama – mostly due to the fact that most everyone else sound like a run-of-the-mill politicians.

But not Mr. Obama. I have read both his books and followed the progress of his political life and noted carefully how he handled crises in this campaign – and I am truly impressed. He uses his intelligence and plain old good common sense – a real indication of how he would run this country.

So impressed I am that I will not hesitate to contribute part of my social security check to his cause – the true American cause.

I like Mr. Obama and the fact that he offers change and is willing to go against the grain of "politics as usual". The one factor that bothers me is the "tag" of the first "Africian American" candidate. I acknowledge that he is a person of color, however, he is NOT an Africian-American, he is a "Bi-Racial" American, as much white as black and should be equally as proud of that! Because he is "Bi-Racial" he brings the best of white and black to the forefront. A candidate that truly represents "all Americans". Lest we not forget!

Charlotte   June 5th, 2008 10:47 am ET

Well, nice to know some people at least read what others say. I am a democrat, I am not a Republican. I have voted for Republicans in the past because the Democratic Party chose the wrong person in my opinion. It was also the opinion of a lot of other democratcs who crossed over to vote for Reagan. I do not believe Obama is the best person for the job. The DNC has been trying to force Hillary out of the race for along time. That is what I find objectionable. The media has given Obama a free ride. The Wright issue came out because they finally had no choice but to air it. I am not happy my candidate lost, that is true. Once again I am forced to choose an alternative to the nominee. I choose to write in Hillary Clinton.

I'm an Obama supporter and this is a good move. But let's be real, it isn't an angelic turnaround. Money still talks in American politics, I think someone even said he is Kennedy and Oprah money, yeah that's fine, but this is the first step towards breaking down the foundation of money talking in politics by taking out its most gross form-lobbyists and PACs.

I really want to hear what Lou Dobbs says because yesterday he challenged Obama and McCain to do this, now that Obama has, will the Independents finally see that this is the best politician since Kennedy?

I was in Janesville, WI yesterday and people are very upset at NAFTA. NAFTA was a major issue in my state.

McCain and the Republicans support keeping NAFTA as it is. They claim it's a great thing for the US.

The reality is thousands of hard working people just lost their jobs because of NAFTA. When plants close in the US, only to see new ones open in Mexico, there is no other explanation than NAFTA.

The economy is getting worse and the Republican solution is to praise companies who send our jobs to Mexico.

Greg   June 5th, 2008 10:45 am ET

Charlotte, My university/employer did an event for Hillary some months ago. They have still not been paid. If there are 18 million people who voted for Hillary then they should be able to pay off her campaign debt of 30 million at less than 2 bucks a person. This money could also go to pay many of the people who had to forgo pay, you know, her staff, the people who fought with her and believed in her as fervently as you do, and to pay back Hillary's 11 million dollars she loaned herself. That would be a far more productive activity than blogging so much about how you hate Obama. You are not voting for him; we get it. But we're moving on.

Obama just got the DNC to stop taking money from lobbyists. This is a big CHANGE. Why don't you blog about why it is a good idea or not a good idea? At least that would be relevant.

This message is to all Democratic supporters – please step back to contemplate your actions before you let your frustration dictate what you do. This was a tough race between two good candidates in which only one was going to be elected, so there was bound to be disappointment to the supporters of the candidate who was the runner-up. An important point however
Issues matter -Obama and Hillary more or less have the same stand on all important issues – Iraq war, economy etc. Their view on these issues is significantly different from McCain's who has aligned himself with the Bush admin.
Obama supporters: Your candidate has been elected but he needs the support of all constituents if he is to get elected. Its time to stop the negative blogging with Hillary supporters and focus on uniting for the general election.
HRC Supporters: I understand your disappointment but its self defeating to vote for McCain just to spite Obama. Remember that with Bush's help, the Republicans are probably only one vote away from overturning Roe vs Wade and that's something McCain might push through.
Time for change – Democrat in the White House!!

The old pork barrel ways may not work this time., and that must have a lot of powerful people worried. Probibly why they are keeping Hillary in the wings. Can only imagine the good things that will happen if the USA has a presedent that is for the people. You guys are so lucky Obama has surfaced after 8 years of Bush. Like divine intervention.

God Bless America

Munya   June 5th, 2008 10:37 am ET

Its always good to get yourself on a good footing as party president heading for country presidency. All the way man!

Anyway to the Clintonites – you are either a democrat or a republican. If you are a democrat you knew very well how the rules and regulations governing this election from the on-set, so the parties to the contest. Under the same rules and regulations one party (Obama) won and the other (Clinton) lost. You do not change the rules of the game mid stream.

And for those advocating for Hillary for VP, she is worth more than that. If she herself would want that post, let it be her call but I would rather she goes for a more powerful post in govt than to be an echo of the President – is she capable of that? She is too powerful to be VP. America runs the risk of having her trying to upstage the Pres to the detriment of that office. For her showing I would even suggest State Secretary. A VP's post is the least influential post in government and is that what you consider to be the best she has to give to America? Think again, and request for a proper representation of your vote.

Lou Dodd   June 5th, 2008 10:37 am ET

Obama did accept Lou Dodd's challenge on campaign money. I knew Obama would.

YES WE CAN! YES WE WILL   June 5th, 2008 10:36 am ET

Obama is a wise man! He is already proving that he is about change! Let's get behind the DNC ONCE OBAMA LET'S US KNOW IT'S TIME TO START SENDING TO THE DNC, let's show them just how we will support him, they need to know that they will need not worry about money all we were waiting on was the right thing to be done by Obama. The DNC will find that this will be a record breaking year for them as well.

OBAMA NEEDS TO LET US KNOW WHEN TO START SENDING MONEY TO THE DNC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OBAMA WILL HAVE MORE THAN ENOUGH OF EVERYTHING HE NEEDS, NOT TO WORRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HILLARY SUPPORTERS THAT ARE PLANNING TO SUPPORT OBAMA YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND AS WELL WE OBAMA SUPPORTERS BELIEVE IN TAKING CARE OF ALL THAT WE CAN TAKE CARE OF SO THAT HE CAN TAKE CARE OF ALL THAT HE NEEDS TO TAKE CARE OF WITHOUT WORRYING ABOUT EVERYTHING ELSE. WE MUST ALL WORK TOGETHER TO MAKE A CHANGE WORK, EVEN IF IT'S ONLY SENDING A DOLLAR A WEEK SEND SOMETHING!!!!!!!

WE ALL HAVE TO DO OUR PART WORKING TOGETHER!

Arome J   June 5th, 2008 10:36 am ET

We can now see that OBAMA is not "all hat and no cattle" as hillary refered to him during the Texas debate afterall.
I think he is "less hat and a lot more cattle".
His campaign managed the little donations prudently and the result is here for all to see.
I can't wait to donate!!
He is genius!!

Obama 08!!!!!!

James, SC   June 5th, 2008 10:35 am ET

Folks please realize that Senator Clinton's campaign still needs funding. If you want to throw your money away, you can waste it on McCain or keep Senator Clinton strong to support HER party the democrats.

Chris Woltman   June 5th, 2008 10:34 am ET

If he can do this then real change is coming. He's upping the stakes dramatically and many, many powerful people will be out for his head. God Bless and keep you Mr. Obama because you appear to be a man of your word and that's dangerous turf your entering.

OBAMA MAMA   June 5th, 2008 10:34 am ET

To "John MCCain For President"

First and foremost it is Commander-in-Chief not Commander and Chief. Second, when was the last time Republicans put country first before the Republican Party. Keep thinking on this one and you will never find the answer. Your so called "Conservative Base" is easily swayed by bunch of "Cowboys" who use religion and patriotism for their advantage and not for the benefit of the US. The Republican Party is run by bunch of "Elitists" who never understood and never tried to understand the average American. They think our sons and daughters were born to die for their war so that "Halliburton" could get more government contracts. Your party is controlled by "Lobbyists" and they think first about their clients not the country. And when you have a person that defies "Lobbyists" you know his "Decisions" as "President" will not be marred by corporate interests.

CHELLEY   June 5th, 2008 10:34 am ET

CHARLOTTE, GIVE US ONE SPECIFIC REASON WHY YOU ARE UPSET, THEN ASK YOURSELF IS IT WORTH……WE WERE MANIPULATED IN TO THINKING THE OBAMA TEAM DID SOMETHING WRONG,,,, THEY FOLLOW THE RULES….THE OBAMA'S PEOPLE SHOULD BE UPSET BECAUSE THEY CHANGED THE RULES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CAMPAIGN TO SATIFY HRC'S TEAM….

DON'T YOU THINK THAT RIGHTOUS PREVAILED OUT OF THE DECEITFULNESS OF POLITIC WE HAVE BEEN PRACTICING UNDER THE DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS…

LOOK AT WHAT HAPPENING, PEOPLE ARE SPEAKING OUT BECAUSE OF THEIR INTEGRITY, INSTEAD OF THEIR LOYALITY TO THEIR PARTIES….

I UNDERSTAND SOME OF YOU GUYS ARE NOT READY FOR CHANGE, BUT CHANGE IS COMING WHETHER YOU CONTRIBUTE OR VOTE FOR OBAMA…I WILL REACH OUT MY HAND TO MAKE YOU MY BROTHER OR SISTER, BUT I WILL NOT LEAN FORWARD. YOU WILL ONLY HAVE TO REACH OUT YOUR HAND ! AND THEN AND ONLY THEN WE CAN MOVE FORWARD…….

Mike   June 5th, 2008 10:33 am ET

What is Obama talking about? He accepted money from drug and oil companies all through this campaign. They just were not "registered" federal lobbiest. That is why I am leaving the democratic party and voting for McCain.

Obama is such a liar.

Dennis   June 5th, 2008 10:33 am ET

Senator Obama has shown that you do not need Lobbyists and PACs in order to raise money. His campaign has provided the model. This is a great change. If this goes through, then we can be certain the DNC is promoting the values of the people of the party, not the values of the Lobbyists and the PACs. The Republicans only wish they could afford to do such a thing.

Sante   June 5th, 2008 10:32 am ET

You people are so ungrateful!
It is a disgrace how you treat one of you very capable politicians, Hillary!

To be in a high end for Obama /What he has done for this country?/ by trashing Clintons or however else that could be is the MOST DISHONOURABLE think. Why he has to rise on the "death" of somebody? Is in he capable to do it on his on??!!!
And you are talking about "proud American" and "how far you have gone"?

You do not deserve her! And she is a woman! Pakistanis are better; the entire country was crying for Mrs. Bhutto and they suppose to learn from you?!? That's way the world do not like you!

4-5 years from now you are going to trash Obama and specially Michele Obama any how!

That is America!

Money, Bread and Circuses!!!

Sorry Mrs.Clinton, that is you country!

Olivia   June 5th, 2008 10:32 am ET

While you're at it………do away with superdelegates too. Change the rules that can let a body of people literally change the direction of a political race in an hour. Let the voters do the choosing right up to the last minute.

While you're at it………do away with endorsments from organizations that try to influence their members how to vote and who to vote for.

Yes, reorganize or change the rules. Most of the past heads of the DNC backed Obama and no one even looked twice. I did.

I know about the freedom of speech and press and I support this.
But……. what the ENTIRE media and bloggersphere did to Hillary Clinton was so grossly unfair that the DNC should have stepped to the plate and spoken up for her when it really got out of hand.
CHANGE THE RULES AND CHANGE THE HEAD OF THE DNC.

It's okay to be upset your candidate was beaten, but let's not be ridiculous…you need to join us kool-aid drinkers and fast. This country and our little children cannot endure any more of this crazy Republican rule. To, "John Mcsame for president"

Your the one thats oblivious to the many wrongs Bush has done to this country. I pose these question to you. If you love this country and you place it first before any paty values , then how can YOU vote for a man that has the same polocies as Bush, policies that has drag this country down hill. Do you want to keep seeing gas prices go up? Do you want to see the war continue for a 100 years as you candidate sugested?. Do you want to see this country economy stay in a slump? Obama will give us a fresh start and new ideas. Hey we had a President for eight years whos policies have not worked, why not try something different and new.

Obama won the popular vote. Period. Hillary only won it if you count Michigan and Florida which were discounted primaries. The delegates are being seated, the votes still do not count. Not to mention Obama is up by more than a million in votes if you do the math for the Caucus'. Being an Iowan, I would like to say to the fanatical Hillary supporters who cry about votes not counting, get real. You want her to get the nomination based on the popular vote? Well guess what, I live in Iowa, we don't vote. We have a caucus, meaning none of our voices are calculated in the popular vote. Read a book.

I, for one, do not want to have another 100 year war: do not want a President that is beholding to special intrest groups and big Business: Do not want to see anymore "no bid" Billion$$$ contracts: Do not want any more jobs outsourced when Companies in this country can perform the same function: Do not want any more "shotgun" diplomacy: And lastly do not want any "bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran" type person in any leadership position.

RJ, CA   June 5th, 2008 10:26 am ET

How "impressive"! Now that he has his own thing in the bag (with the money of lobbyists), he want to keep them out of the DNC — just like always — except that he will plant ANOTHER one of his operatives in the DNC — just like before. Now that he has his own thing in the bag, he talks "tough" about terrorists — just like always. Just like always, he will continue to steal other candidates' ideas and make them his own. What a fake and opportunist!

Ron   June 5th, 2008 10:26 am ET

I listen to all these die-hard Hillary supporters who are so upset that their candidate didn't win and see a lot of women who must have been wronged somewhere in their life by a man. They then go to rallies and post comments on websites projecting the hate built up from their experiences onto someone who has only shown the upmost respect for women and that's future President Obama. Even funnier is that these same women believe it to be hogwash when a minority who has experienced prejudice in their life perceives even a hint of prejudice in something said by an Obama opponent. Sexism does not trump racial prejudice and vice versa. If you perceive there to be any form of gender bias in a statement or happening then fine but don't be a hypocrite and refuse to believe that others may think that their feelings of bais are any less important.

GO HILL!   June 5th, 2008 10:26 am ET

Ben   June 5th, 2008 10:24 am ET

Go Obama! Keep taking concrete steps in the right direction and the American people will see that " Yes, We Can" indeed. You Republicans, keep harping on "inexperience and Rev Wright" this is all you can see, because this is all you think about, old stereotypes and division. Hillary''s performance on Tuesday night is EXACTLY the reason she lost the primary and why she would not make a good leader, at this time. Barack stood steady, acknowledged his faults, admitted them and made the correct changes. What else can a person expect from their leader but steadfastness, humility and wisdom? You may not agree with everything Barack is saying, but YOU KNOW he will lead with HONESTY, STEADFASTNESS, WISDOM and HONOR. Go Obama!

Greg   June 5th, 2008 10:24 am ET

Christine, I hope you also noticed that the McCain people copied the style of Obama's website – similar logos, similar slogan – they couldn't come up with a message and style of their own. That shows a lot about the kind of ideas they will bring.

Isn’t it nice to see for once a leader who is willing to go against the establishment and set a course for a better country?
For those Clinton supporters angry that Obama won, always remember that you never get into a competition unless you are ready to either win or loose.
When you claim that you will not vote for Obama because he won will just prove that crazy catholic priest that you “feel entitled” that Clinton should be the nominee, regardless of the democratic process.

Chris from Chicago   June 5th, 2008 10:22 am ET

To "John McLame for President" – Condoleeza and other administration officials and even McCain's top advisors are saying we should meet with Iran's leadership. How is that supporting our country's interests when everyone recognizes what is a good idea, and your McLame candidate prefers to ignore their sound advice for the purpose of sound bites that line up with ignorant people like you! Barack will be a better Commander in Chief because he is open to change and open to dialogue with the world. And I guarantee you; the world is WAITING for the US to bring its leadership (but it has to be leadership that they can respect!) and four more years of George W Bush (lack of) foreign policy is definitely not the answer!

As an Immigrant, I am so proud of what he has achieved and I pray for him everyday for God's guidiance, wisdom and understanding to find out the direction God wants this country to go. I am so applled as to what is going on in this country and having lived here for 16 years now it is said to see the America that was once powerful gradually lose its power. I think we as citizens ought to pray for God to deliver us from all this because it will get worse from here if we don't.

Steve, Madison WI   June 5th, 2008 10:21 am ET

To "John McCain for Pres." :

The role of a "leader" is to lead. You obviously do not have to be a war veteran to make decisions regarding war, otherwise most of the elected Republican leaders would be disqualified, including Bush and Cheney. A good leader surrounds themselves with people who are experts in various areas and then actually listens objectively to them (in other words the opposite of what Bush and Cheney do).

To Charlette (and the like):

I am an independent who started the election season as a Clinton supporter, but with the resolve to support whomever was the "anti-McCain" candidate as we need CHANGE!! Hillary lost fair and square and actually mainly lost due to her team's failure in caucas strategy (which is ironic since Harold Ickes played a key role in getting the caucas system going years ago). Anyone so self-centered to put their egos ahead of the good of the American people should be ashamed. More war, a ultra-conservative supreme court, more tax cuts for the rich, no healthcare reform…. this will be your guilt and shame should you not unite to defeat McSame. Just as the Neo-cons and the Religous Right don't represent the true Republican ideals of Goldwater and Eisenhower, the "If not Hillary, I'll vote for McCain" crowd are a fringe element tainting the ideals of the Democratic Party.

Unite or go away, but do not claim to be a Democrat!

Funny, this was something he fought earlier in the primaries but NOW he wants it to stop. He accepted bundled contributions from lobbyists and most of his advisor's are lobbyist. How soon the Obamanation groupies forget. Go check Thomas A. Daschle (D-S.D.), who joined Alston & Bird Atlanta-based firm's corporate clients strategic advice on such issues as energy, health care, financial services, tax policy, trade and agriculture. They rank 50th in the nation of big push law firms. So funny!

"John McCain For President" How will Obama be a better commander in chief than McCain? Let us count the ways. First, no more shooting before talking. Which means our military won't be stretched to the brink. Which means it will, once we figure out how to get out of Iraq, be a better military. Right now it's a thin military full of exhausted men and women fighting an unpopular war. Obama has said he will focus on the real threat, Al Queda, in eastern Afghanistan. He will provide better benefits for veterans, and has said in the past their is no excuse for homeless vets. The list goes on and on. McCain, on the other hand, is, basically, a zombie.

Joe from Northern California   June 5th, 2008 10:18 am ET

American politics are often a series of corrections. Jimmy Carter, provided a necessary dose of decency and trustworthiness, following the Watergate years–even though he wasn't the strongest as Commander in Chief. Similarly, Obama will provide people a sense of a new beginning altogether, rather than a "modification" of policy (represented in admittedly varying degrees by McCain and Clinton). Sometimes athletic teams need a change of coaches simply to improve morale, even if the end results are the same–at least the team feels positive about building towards success.

Marilyn   June 5th, 2008 10:18 am ET

Many of us who voted for Clinton did so because, after the good people dropped out (i.e., Biden, Edwards, etc.), we considered her the lesser of the two remaining evils on the Democratic side. Now that she is out of the picture McCain is the lesser of the two remaining evils. Bitterness has nothing to do with it. I will vote for the good of the country over party loyalty every time! If I wouldn't vote for Obama before, why on earth would I vote for him now?

JD   June 5th, 2008 10:18 am ET

AS someone who is not an American Citizen I can honestly say how proud I was to have witnessed history being made in the United States of America. It leaves us the rest of the world to believe this is a true meaning of democracy.

To the supporters of Hilary Clinton I strongly suggest you all come together to unite the party this is what she would want. She has showed us all women can achieve success in this world. I for one believe. Thank you Hilary.

WoW! He really wants the Democratic Party to genuinely embrace the principles of democracy. Thank you Obama! The Democratic Party would gain tremendous strength and influence if the people supported candidates financially instead of lobbyists (It certainly worked out well for him). What a paradigm shift for politics- Integrity!

jesus saves   June 5th, 2008 10:16 am ET

i'd just have to say that i find it funny that people still believe any and everything they hear. obama's a muslim, he's a black liberaterian, he's an elitist (how many of you even knew what that was before Hillary said it) he's sexist…you believe anything you hear and that just goes to show that America is still stuck. some of you are so gullible that if hillary told you Michelle slapped her in the face you'd believe it.

yes obama is an african-american, but he's also a white american. i can tell you he didn't win the nomination because of the color of his skin. he won because his peers have faith and trust that he can deliver on his promise of change. he's a different type of leader…quite positive he is, why would you want anything less? Hillary has done an injustice to herself, the party and to her supporters by campaigning the way she campaigned. Throwing the most dirt does not entitle you to the presidency.

and one more thing, people keep saying he's young and inexperienced blah blah blah. that the presidency isn't an internship. did anybody who sat in the oval prior to being elected ever have presidential (gov't) experience before they were actually elected? no one does, they all learn on the job they all experience what's required to run an effective gov't…well some do anyway.

ANYWAY obama or mccain whoever's at the helm i pray will all God to govern his every move

Michelle from Colorado   June 5th, 2008 10:16 am ET

Obama supporters make me laugh. Even after your guy gets the nomination all you can do now is gloat. I hope to God he is not like you. Your attitude is what still makes some Clinton supporters block out Obama's message. We cannot hear him above your raucous, in your face, drivel. Sit in your seats and let the man do what he said he could do.
Why can't you just be happy for him and look forward instead of trying to pick a fight? If you really believed in this candidate, you would take the high road and move on to loftier things than still wallow in the mire of your own self righteousness. This attitude is the one that separates all of us daily regardless of whether it is an election year. Grow up and be proud of what he might accomplish rather than being a sore winner. The war has just begun.

Phil Newton Murphy, Oregon   June 5th, 2008 10:16 am ET

Let's Unite   June 5th, 2008 10:15 am ET

Clinton supporters please do not let a few ugly remarks on political blogs stand in the way making a choice that is clearly correct. This election is about us, not Obama, not Clinton and certainly not McCain. I will be voting Democrat in November because this party has chosen a candidate that will not tolerate the demise of this great country’s fundamental values and depletion of our reputation abroad that has taken place in the past 8 years. This move by Obama is a wonderful start. I can’t wait til January 20th.

To the cynics, this is the beginning of Obama's match of words with action. Go Obama ' 08

Billy   June 5th, 2008 10:14 am ET

To move beyond the Clintons is to just move ahead as if they are not in the picture. Give them praise, but just move on and clean things up. I'm hoping Obama will do the walk along with his talk. Action does speak louder than words. This move would be an indication of action backing up the talk. It is good to see him moving already!

notsurewhosworthit   June 5th, 2008 10:13 am ET

Its about time, I think that move is proof that change is coming. I just hope that if he wins, he doesn't wind up fighting the "permanent campaign" against the republicans.

haas   June 5th, 2008 10:13 am ET

I knew Obama was smart but now I know he's a political genius. He's going to do for the DNC what he has done for his campaign. Raise money from the American people. The Republicans are going to have a hard time now showing they care about the average American when they get their money from corporations, and lobbyists. Way to go Obama. Go get 'em!!!

Finally, a politician who means what he says. I hope this is a foreteller of things to come in American politics.

Charlotte, it seems your cynicism is misplaced in this instance. This is one politician who has steadfastly stood by his principles, without stooping to attack his opponents, and seems to genuinely mean what he says.

Gina - Lancaster, PA   June 5th, 2008 10:12 am ET

I love it. He is not just talk like many Clinton supporters were trying to say. He will take action and he started it less that 48 hours after being the democratic nominee.

Way to set the tone and take the lead, (future) President Obama.

Vance Elliott   June 5th, 2008 10:12 am ET

Everyone needs to calm down and think about what has happened with this very historic event. Race has raised its ugly head in this campaign, pitting race against gender. We knew that this would be historic either way. Now that an African American has become the Democratic Nominee with the overwhelming support of a cross section of the population to include white, black, and Latino and if there is ever to be a woman to reach this milestone, then that same cross section of the population will be needed. So Support Obama so that we can breakdown these barriers and become a better country because of it.

Hillary is not dropping out. She is suspending her campaign.
There is a big difference.
I do not know what that woman is planning but one thing I know is obama should NOT pick her as his VP.

She wants the presidency so bad, I am afraid she will sabotage his candidacy.
We all know she does not like him. He is stealing her Show.

Why is it the bitterness that you exude so typical of the 'wronged' woman. I can understand disappointment, but this level of viciousness is one of the reasons Hillary lost.
Many of her followers are misplacing their emotions, directed to the wrong person.
The number one reason she lost however, is that Obama is the right person for the times.

Making the DNC stop taking money from lobbyists…this is huge as both parties have taken millions from lobbyists over the years. Yet another great example of the differences between McCain and Obama.

Hillary supporters – I can empathize with some of your feelings as harsh words have been going back and forth from both camps during this process. However, does supporting McCain out of anger truly show your support of your candidate. If you go to McCain because you feel he is the better candidate, that is totally your choice and we should all respect your decision. If you are going to McCain out of spite, this is where I think you are going over the line for no valid reason.

I like Jack's take on it all. If we each do a little, it contributes to something much bigger: KInda like what Obama said about how the country is greater than the sum of its parts.

What's phenomenal is how more and more are coming together out of a unshakable sense of hope and a clarifying sense of vision to help contribute to a greater level of unity.

I am grateful to these folks as much as I am to Obama for being willing to help us take ourselves to Washington and get about the task of taking more responsibility for our lives and creating some robust beneficial change.

Send your change and be a part of change. :)
Peace.

volakis   June 5th, 2008 10:05 am ET

Accountability in government starts with the flow of money. Cut off the PACS and you start to have control of what happens at the highest levels. This should be very interesting. If the Republicans and McCain do not follow suit they will be viewed as complete hypocrites. The fact that the McCain crew does not have a chance of developing a network like Obama has in place is going to effectively cut them off at the knees financially!!! As they struggle to tap their old resources (big corp donors) they will soon run out of cash….

This is a brilliant move. People should watch and listen…this is like an amazing chess match…

Hard Working Martha   June 5th, 2008 10:05 am ET

Charlotte, calm down. Why are you stabbing your candidate, who will endorse Obama on Saturday, in the back? If you are a TRUE HRC supporter, you will follow her to the end. Listen to what your candidate said in one of her inerviews, "it would be a huge mistake to vote for McCain". Also, read her email to her supporters regarding her campaign, posted on the site today, she's a true DEM and not a "hot air" DEM. Listen to her speech at the AIPAC on yesterday and how she supported Obama.

To ALL HRC supporters, if you support your candiate, you need to help her repay her debt, make the move and unify the party. Stop being so selfish.

Steve O.   June 5th, 2008 10:04 am ET

Obama is not perfect, but he's the most impressive major party nominee I've seen in my 40-year lifetime. This is a great step forward for our democracy.

PJ   June 5th, 2008 10:04 am ET

Charlotte, Why is it that you are upset? is it because Hillary lost, or is it because Barack won?
In the history of elections, never has the young voters come-out in numbers like they have in this one. Younger, educated voters are seeing past gender and race and concentrating on what they believe is more important, the future of this country. I agree with the above writers and think that you should take a clear look at what is at stake in this historic and challenging time and ask, Whom do you want at the helm to fight these important challenges?

As to this political ticker….I think it is great that he is asking the DNC to halt federal lobbyists or political actions committees donations, it really shows leadership.

Go Obama! Go America!

demveteran   June 5th, 2008 10:04 am ET

Once everybody gets over their giddiness that the executive branch has become an EEO employer, maybe the media will remember what an unpatriotic, militant, racist Mr. Obama is. I'll be voting for Ralph Nader this time around.

arc, Lugano CH   June 5th, 2008 10:00 am ET

Why are Hillary supporters so angry and hateful? Don't they want their party to win above their misdirected scorned anger towards Senator Obama? Don't they realize a vote for McCain will only prolong the status quo and goes against everything that their candidate stands for? There are so many people in this world, who have endured war, genocide and unmentionable horrors. They would give their right arm to be a bitter Hillary supporter in America. Hillary’s legions of hateful, angry supporters don’t know how good they have it. Hillary's defeat is very much her own fault.

Time for Unity   June 5th, 2008 9:59 am ET

To the frustrated Clinton supporters:

We understand your disappointment. You fought a hard campaign and you have lost — perhaps unfairly, though I would disagree with that. But you haven't lost the White House — aren't you Democrats? Please take time to process and then join us as we change the world for the better.

To my fellow Obamacrats:

Please stop attacking the Clinton supporters. They may be lashing out out of anger and frustration, just as some of us might have had the roles been reversed. This isn't like any other primary season in history, and they should be allowed time to come to grips with such a profound disappointment. But given time and treated graciously, most will rise to the occasion and help us chart the future.

It's time for the People to take back the Process, and my hat is off to Sen. Obama for this move to free the DNC from the grip of corporate demogogues. But the only way we can defeat the Republicans in November is to remember that we are different factions of the same team…so I hope Sen. Obama will also encourage his supporters to reach out to the Clinton camp, instead of continuing the bickering that has been an unfortunate part of the last 16 months.

WOW…….

FEMALE FORMER HILLARY SUPPORTER.

Jenny from IN   June 5th, 2008 9:59 am ET

Can I just say something right now to all the Clinton supporters who are threatening Obama?

Stop being so childish.

Clinton and Obama knew the rules of the primary election before it started. You are talking like no one voted for Obama. Obama won, that's all there is to it. And about Michigan, if you really wanted to be fair to voters, you would be fair to the voters that wanted to vote Obama, but didn't come out. I mean, 40% of all the democrats that voted in the primary voted 'uncommitted". That's 40% saying "NO" to Clinton.

And another thing, Obama supporters don't owe you anything. I keep hearing this "you've disrespected us" stuff. No, we didn't. When Hillary Clinton was being ridiculous and malicious we sat back and we tried to negotiate with her. But all that ever mattered to her was winning. Now she's using her supporters to try and gain leverage.

If you don't want to vote for Obama, then don't. I don't think we should give in to whiny, childish cries for attention. You voted, a lot of other people voted, and Obama won. That's how it works. No one owes you anything.

And if you're a woman and you feel like you've been ignored and you're upset because you think this is men holding women back, think again. I am a woman, and I have always supported Obama. I would love to see a woman president, but I am a political science student, and I have studied both Obama and Clinton and have a working knowledge of the complexity of the issues and I knew Obama was the right candidate. We don't need a democrat who has always stood as a symbol of right-wing opposition. We need someone whose policies work with both sides so that this country can get on track and get things done.

So grow up.

KateLynn   June 5th, 2008 9:59 am ET

Just like his stand on the dubious "gas tax holiday" idea, every time Obama puts his foot down and speaks the truth in contrast to his opponent, he is creating experience and change. This is the sort of experience we want, Mr. McBush, not the kind that rubber-stamps tax cuts for the rich and a war that wasted ten of thousands of lives (American and Iraqi) and hundreds of billions of dollars.

I love it!!!! Close the doors on the federal lobbyists or political actions committees. Nothing comes for free, and those groups have sucked the life of politics for to long. Barack Obama along with the DNC can be the ones to move to bring about Change.

What’s risky about that? Sorry McBush but your friends will not run the USA like they ran away with your conscience.!!!!

hey john mccain for president, I like what you had to say in your statement, although you don't know the intellect level of people. One thing though, you say people place partys values above countrys interest because people like a democrat canidate, how would you explain good ol george W. bush???!!! I mean republican supporters and yourself probably will never tell the truth about him, or our situation now, or his legacy. I bet you supported him, but when I ask people about our commander in chief, they can never tell me anything meaniful that should be a lasting image for him and his office. I say he is a strong man, but, other than that theres not much positive you can tell us from his 8 years in office, why should we think that the republican party is the right choice for this country. If you could, I would love to hear it, otherwise, join people, real people that would like our country going back to a positive image, the force that we are supposed to be and help out the movement.

White small town for Obama !!   June 5th, 2008 9:57 am ET

Remember is not only about the war!! Is about the economy is about health insurance, is about gas prices, food and our home!!
McCain is another Bush and Bush is making sure he gets elected to even do couple of fundrasing for him. Come on ! you don't see the picture.. Just tthe way McCain talks I can tell he's all about BUSH reminds me of BUSH speeches years ago, and how ppl were so into BUSH that they voted for him, everyone was happy and then what happened? gas price went up, a war that's killing tons of our soldiers everyday, people losing their homes, their jobs and people that can't afford the way of living in UNITED STATES, the AMerica that at one point everyone wanted to come to, the Strong AMERICA the example of the entire country, and now everyone sees us as a weak country!!

This is a person of good moral principles. McCain is surrounded by lobbyists and interest groups' money. How can he claim "a leader you can believe in"? A self-called leader that is backed by oil companies among others? You can believe that he represents Bush's third term, that's what you can be sure. Vote for McCain and don't complain about gas prices and more senseless wars! Hillary supporters: she or Obama are either of them are far better than Bush's comrade! Is time to turn the page and move on. America cannot wait four more years! Obama can and will beat McCain! Obama '08!

Audrey   June 5th, 2008 9:55 am ET

Hillary supporters need to put their personal feelings aside and vote DEMOCRAT this November. She will do all SHE can to help put a DEMOCRAT into the White House. Please do YOUR part and vote your DEMOCRATIC party. Voting for McCain just because she's not on the ticket proves nothing but a childish response because you didn't get your candidate.

If you all really thought McCain was good enough to get your vote, why did you vote for Hillary in the first place?

Grow up. Support your party and your country. Republicans are nothing but a menace to everyone except wealthy people and big fat rich corporations.

Alex in TX   June 5th, 2008 9:55 am ET

To all the Obama supporters out there…..learn how to win graciously. If you keep rubbing salt in an open wound, you have contributed to McCain's presidency.

I am an ardent Obama supporter but the time to end the anger has come.

And to the Hillary supporters, don't let the unfiltered words of Obama supporters divert your attention from the message from the candidate himself. There is a reason he is the candidate, and we are all posting on cnn.com. He is brilliant, respectful and will be a great president carrying on most of the issues near and dear to Hillary.

Well, in hearing this, I went ahead and made $15 donation (unfortunatly it is all i can afford at this time, but every little bit helps), and will probably try to do so in the months ahead. If we can get the entire DNC to not accept Special Interest, and show them that they can still raise enough money, that would really be a great thing!

Obama 08!!!

Nobama   June 5th, 2008 9:54 am ET

This is nothing new, it is a ploy. The same money will be filtered through different hands to give the false impression that lobbyists are no longer involved. Obama has once again pulled the wool over the eyes of America.

Gene in Connecticut   June 5th, 2008 9:54 am ET

Now, I'm impressed! I mean, it's one thing to say you won't take any "bribes" from lobbyists and PACs, but it's an entirely different matter when you make your national party follow suit. Our next President of the United States is starting to show signs of exactly HOW you can make 'Change You Can Believe In' by demonstrating to his party and all of America that a public servant's candidacy can and should be funded by the people, and not the personal interests of the powerful, privileged few. Finally, we have someone to vote for that leads the people by example!

Richard, St. Paul, MN   June 5th, 2008 9:54 am ET

Finally! A politician who is pushing for actual Democracy in our Democratic nation! This is an incredibly impressive and gutsy move. I'm guessing that his fellow politicians, especially the dimwit Republicans, will have a cow; but this is exactly the type of move that shows that a President should side with the People and not Parties, PAC's or the skanky Lobbyists. Go Obama!

I see from reading above that if Barack loses, predictably, it will all be
Hillary's fault. Amazing how much skill and power she acquired over night. Why, turns out she can make it or break it for Barry. Who knew?

Why is it up to Hillary Clinton to "bring the Dems together?" She lost, remember? You ran her out. She owes you NOTHING. I hope she will resist accepting the VP slot, but BO's surrogates are clearly applying pressure while, as usual, he sits it out.

I love the way you all speak: Now she MUST-she HAS TO-"OR ELSE…!" Or else what? She won't be the nominee? You all won't like her anymore?, won't treat her well anymore?

If the Democratic party is so strong, nothing Hillary might do could bring it down. If it's weak, see Howard Dean about that. Fact is, she got more votes than any primary candidate in US history, including BO.

Interesting to hear Reid and Pelosi announce, "the voters have spoken." No, the voters elected Hillary Clinton. You mean the DNC has spoken. And, as they say, it's not over 'til the fat lady sings. That would be Oprah.

Note to Michelle: You'll need more than pearls to look the part. Stop clumping across the stage in heels too high and dress too tight. You can take the girl out of the south side of Chicago, but…you know the rest.

Lynn   June 5th, 2008 9:53 am ET

Obama has been taking lobbyist money under a disguise. What leadership – you believe everything that comes out of his mouth. I guess that is leadership or follow the cult.

RT in KY   June 5th, 2008 9:53 am ET

Hillary supporters: How do you feel being treated like "bargaining chips" ? Does it feel great that your candidate has your vote in her pocket? Do you get an overall sense that Hillary has the needs of party and our country foremost in her mind? Would you have wanted to win if it meant breaking the rules? Answer these questions so that I can begin to understand your willingness to go against everything Hillary stands for.

I will vote for Barak. He is most intelligent of the two candidates. You have to sit back and think, this man walked all over the candidate who have been in the political world for 35 years. It had to take lots of intelligence, strategic planning to achieve this. If he can do this for the country, which I think he can, then this is all I will need to be convinced.

Lee-- Dallas, TX   June 5th, 2008 9:51 am ET

Way to go Barack. This is truely change we can believe in. I hope the critics and talking heads are taking notice. Go Dems, go.

Talk is cheap, taking that walk will cost you a pretty penny… and its worth it.

c in iowa   June 5th, 2008 9:51 am ET

It's so refreshing to see a candidate who takes action and follows through on the ideals many of us share, rather than pandering to the populace and then continuing to play by the corporate playbook. Although there are Hillary supporters who obstinantly refuse to back him, and McCain supporters who persist in voting for a man who would continue the failed policies of Bush, Obama is invigorating many voters and will likely not only usher in a new way of fundraising, but bring a larger segment of the population that had once been apathetic and disillusioned back into active politics. This is a beautiful time to be an American.

Pope of America   June 5th, 2008 9:51 am ET

Oh, JMcFP…

You support the spiritual descendant of the Country's most disliked President ever. His policies, much as he hates to talk about them anymore, are nearly identical to the same ones that got us in this Foreign and Domestic mess.

But it's the OBAMA supporters who are blindly following their party. I understand.

I believe Obama will live up to his idealistic values. That is why he will not respond to Billary "strong-arming" him for the VP, as she tried to strong-arm Michigan and Florida. She disqualified herself as VP by the criticisms she made of him on national TV. He is wise, organized and insightful. He will select a strong VP who will compliment his leadership and enhance the outcome. There will be more courageous change.

Keep It Real   June 5th, 2008 9:47 am ET

I think what Senator Obama is planning to do is one major step towards really achieving change in Washington. However, I think Obama also needs to turn in the $33K he's already accepted from lobbyists and then his slate will be clean. Essentially, he's no where near McCain who has already accepted close to $500K from lobbyists but the point/fact still remains that he has accepted some.

Once he does that, any intelligent person in the United States of America would be silly not to join this man if you really want to see a difference in Washington.

Congratulations now and predictably later Obama!!!!

Praetorian, Fort Myers   June 5th, 2008 9:47 am ET

Yep…his imprint is the party of BS and he's marching under the banner of socialism.

Vote Libertarian–the only party who will really make a change. Bob Barr 2008. Let's eliminate all special interests (even the "good" kind the liberals love) from the teat of the American taxpayers.

Rich   June 5th, 2008 9:47 am ET

President Obama would be a better commander than President McCain because Obama is a listener. Rather than just listen to the military point of view, which McCain might do, Obama would listen to the State Dept people and the military people. I believe he would weigh the costs and lives before committing people to harms way more than McCain would. Also McCain seems to have a temper and might not be as open to new approaches as Obama, such as reaching out and talking etc.

McCain is an military man, but from a 1970's approach. Things have changed radically in the approach of military and our role in the world. We can not bully people with might as much as we could 40 years ago.

Also, I believe Obama understands he lacks military experience and will use his ability to bring in experienced people to help him make a decision. McCain also lacks large scale military experience, but I hope he would reach out to people who understand modern military tactics. But I think he would just bomb the hell out of an enemy because that is how to win a war. Oh by the way, that idea doesn't work anymore.

So now explain how John McCain has put the country before the Republican Party.

Nik, Florida   June 5th, 2008 9:47 am ET

The few stubborn people that respond to these blogs do NOT make up the majority of Clinton supporters. I have to believe that the majority of Clinton supporters will jump on board in November to beat McCain. Keep in mind, McCain = WWIII

Those of you who will not vote Democrat, stop writing your useless comments and stick with McCain if that is what you are truly feeling. Let's move on and I welcome Hillary in the process. I wish I could say I want her on the ticket, but I don't. I do however, think she is a master at this and she will in fact help him win.

joe   June 5th, 2008 9:45 am ET

To "John McCain for president"

The number one role for the president is to NOT get the US into illigitimate wars like Iraq in the first place. The old "shoot first and ask questions later" routine is not how this country should be run. Obama has the sense to keep this country out of wars, and to rely on his military leaders if we have no diplomatic options (unlike Bush who disregarded his military team).

Jay in Chicago   June 5th, 2008 9:44 am ET

I think Obama is going to turn a lot of states blue this election. Virginia is one of them. The more people learn about two differing positions between mccain and obama on the three main issues (Iraq, economy, healthcare), they will begin to lean towards one or the other. I think it's safe to say that most informed and intelligent voters will buy Obama's arguments. People voting on the basis of sociocultural issues, might go for mccain. He is a decorated war hero and we honor his service. However, his ideas will not move the country in a new direction and that is undeniable. The GOP will attack Obama's patriotism and resort to fearmongering to win this election. But make no mistake, this election is too important to make a decision based on fear.

She's only semi backing Obama because if she backed McCain, whom i don't doubt she is routing for, she would lose favor in her own party and would be an after thought for the 2012 election. A position I have no doubt that she is coveting. She'll say the appropriate things to look like an Obama ally, but she's not in this instance. She wants the limelight and is hoping for a return in '12.

It is a sad day when Obama will state that america is free but will not allow the same freedoms to other nations. Pulling troops out of iraq is not the thing to do…. the best thin in my life time in the past 35 years was to liberate iraq so their people can have the freedoms of our country… maybe all the liberals like the ideal of a dicatorship…. lets try it in our country for a few years to see what they think about that

Charlotte – For those of you who claim HRC was robbed because she won the popular vote, I think it should be mandatory that you tell us which states you counted and which ones you didn't, otherwise it's just deceptive.

1. You are not counting certain caucus states – how can a candidate win a caucus but you don't count them as receiving any votes there?

2. You are giving all 300K plus votes in a one-name election to your candidate and counting 0 for Obama. An election tactic similar to some nations we call undemocratic.

3. You are including votes from Florida, which moved the date of its primary so far ahead in the calendar that it clearly tilted the playing field to favor the establishment candidate, who at the time was HRC. Again an election tactic used in some nations we call undemocratic. When other nations change the dates of their elections we as a nation cry foul. Why were the HRC supporters in favor of accepting this undemocratic tactic?

4. Terry McAuliffe supported the halving of the delegates for Florida and Michigan back when he was DNC chair, because he did not want to see a disputed election. Once he became HRC's bagman he changed his tune. Same thing applies to Harold Ickes.

I guess they'll say whatever they have to depending on who is paying. Their current paymaster is HRC, who couldn’t afford the bills. So who will pay in the end? The mystery donor to Bill's library perhaps?

How about honesty, the whole story, consistency, openness and some perspective from the most fervent Clinton supporters? Is that too much to expect? Unfortunately, yes it is.

it's with sadness that i look at the comments from the clinton supporters. they seem to throw the blame on other people which their candidate and her campaign started. they do the pinching and they say ouch. if they're so blind with their loyalty to their candidate and could not see the light and the truth about the direction the party is now going and threaten to support mccain instead, then so be it. i'm sure we will miss them or maybe not.

one of the things that my parents taught me is that we need to be careful with what we say as by the time the words come out of our mouth, it will be too late to take them back. this is exactly what hillary did. she espoused so many vitriolic remarks about obama during the campaign that her supporters blindly believed them. it's too late now to retract them. however, it's not too late to learn from it and see the progress and changes for the good that are now in the horizon.

He's already acting presidential and taking the necessary steps for Americans to take our country back from special interest.

Good choices for the DNC and great choices for America.

Obama.

This is one way to start reforming politics and how things are run. Make sure that what you do is clean and free from influence; you need to be able to say that the ideas that we run on are ours and not given to us based on someone else's agenda.

Dee Okla.   June 5th, 2008 9:36 am ET

Charlotte, it's ok, I know change is hard sometimes but change is needed.

This is a ture stance and a show of leadership. This candidate has taken fundraising to a new level and I think all Americans now can see what truth, honesty, and hardwork form the bottom up can do. Those critics need to look at the issues and how he will lead this country to a new hight and stop the petty bickering. Leave that for McCain.

jackson from Iowa   June 5th, 2008 9:35 am ET

Iam so proud of my country taking this on so strong.Iam 58 ,white female ,change to a democrat to be part of this change and the hope for the young people. Our age group as really messed this country up.It is time to change from our old views and grow up as a country. To be a leader in a world that has come so much into one market.War is a old world ,what we do effects our neighbors so much more than ever before. So Iam hoping the DNC helps America move into a country to be a world leader again.

Don't think about the past. Please underatand the loving behavior and respect that Obama showed to Hillary in 17 months. he never disrespected her. he never said anyting bad about her even if he knows much on her.

Please come and unit the party. Together we will win. Thank you

Can Barack fire Howard the Duck Dean? That guy is a joke.

DJ in TX   June 5th, 2008 9:34 am ET

While financially not the correct thing to do, it is consistent with his message.

To the people who keep saying this race was so wrong and un-democratic, remember these are the EXACT same rules that Bill Clinton had during his run. I agree that the Florida and Michigan issues were wrong from the start and the DNC bungled that, but something had to be done.

I just hope the Democratic party changes before the next election. I like Sen Ben Nelson's idea of rotating regions of primaries.

Let's unite and make sure a Democrat wins in November.

Michael   June 5th, 2008 9:34 am ET

Yes, this the begining of new generation that will lead in truth and in spirit that cares about the ordinary people.

not stagnate to calm their fears. Let's keep moving.

Raymond Duke   June 5th, 2008 9:33 am ET

Who cares what he says. Does anybody with a half of brain really believe this idiot. Like this latest controversy with "REZKO" thi isn't the man I knew. Isn't that the same thing he said about reverend wright, father pfleger, Ayers, the other professor. I reckon if he will make the same claim when the racist video comes out in november with his wife calling white people "WHITEY" and other racist statements. Either everybody around him has come down with a mental illiness since he started this campagin or this man is an out and out liar. You can decide which you believe . I will take the latter. Of course the media will not pick up on this. They don't want to be responsible for hurting this black mans historical moment by telling the truth and questioning his real thoughts ,motivation and judgement. plus they are to scared of the black people and the great religious black leaders like reverend AL and Jesse.

Rob   June 5th, 2008 9:33 am ET

I do believe that this will generally be a cordial campaign between the two candidates. Both men are respectful to one another.

David Axlerod on the other hand, not so much.

Alll the mud slinging during this campaign will take place between paid staffers and supporters of each candidate.

Kenneth M   June 5th, 2008 9:32 am ET

CLINTON SUPPOTERS SHOULD TAKE NOTE. WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE YOUR VOTES BUT WE DONT NEED THEM. WE WON WITHOUT YOU BECAUSE OBAMA IS BETTER AT ORGANIZING. WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN TO BEAT MCCAIN. WHILE ALL ARE TALKING ABOUT HIS CONECTIONS TO ODD PEOPLE HE WILL BE FLANKING THEM WITH SOUND POLICY. IN THE END HIS FOES WILL BE LEFT SCRATCHING THEMSELVES WONDERING "WOW, HOW DID HE GET ME TO VOTE FOR HIM".

Darryl Miller   June 5th, 2008 9:32 am ET

Yes, Lou Dobbs has a good point and Senator Obama is right to ask the DNC to no longer except money from lobbyist or PAC's.

I am with all American are over joy'd to be a part of American History…..

Deb   June 5th, 2008 9:32 am ET

What a Joke!

If you believe this you also must find it easy to believe that Obama actually loves America after spending 20 years attending a church that preaches just the opposite.

Lynne   June 5th, 2008 9:32 am ET

I've donated $100 to the Obama campaign. Nowt that he's the nominee, my donations will go to the DNC. I'm sure most Obama supporters will do the same. We don't donate a lot, but there are millions of us. =-)

People's PAC   June 5th, 2008 9:32 am ET

My only hope is that the representatives, governors, senators and president we elect will finally act as lobbyists on our behalf, what they were elected to do; by the people, for the people. I hope that they will enact legislation that promotes a strong healthy economy that benefits its people, not at the expense of its people. I believe that the policies, trade agreements, and legislation of the last both republican and democratic parties have done just this and it is time somebody stands up against exploiting the people of this country as simply a market and starts promoting its skills, innovation and progress so that we can once again be proud, strong and have the time to raise our families.

Charlotte and others that feel "burned" by the DNC-
That's completely understandable if you don;t feel like financially supporting an organization that you feel has not handled sticky situations in the past year well.
However, please remember in November that Exxon and their record breaking profits in the past year will be funding McCain's presidency campaign. Who do you think he will reward if elected? You or them?
Please I am a student drowning in debt. I can't afford higher gas prices without drowning further.

The DNC will support our Candidate and the new leader of the Demicratic Party……Unlike the Republicans…………this Democrats are Anti-war, Pro womens choice, and against frivilous International Trade Agreements and Pacts. I would ask ALL those disillisioned Hillary Folks to consider the above before you vote for McCain. Remember that your vote could cause a VERY Lengthy involvement in Iraq/ Afganatan and cause many more deaths and severe injuries to OUR troops. They are fighting to protect our principles ,including.. the right to vote. This right should never be used as a punishment or taken friviliously when casting it………too much depends on every vote. IF PERSONAL FEELINGS get in the way of what is the correct course for this Country it is best not to squander your American RIGHT for poor judgement.

Josepha   June 5th, 2008 9:29 am ET

If "she" is on the ticket, I will NOT vote for Obama. She will think she is the prime candidate.

Michele   June 5th, 2008 9:29 am ET

And the hate goes on………why we can not blame the candidates for the division in the DEM party we can blame the voters…..this has been the most hate filled mess I have ever seen. STOP hating Hillary it is not going to Sen Obama any good. Stop calling him Mr President he has not one yet and it is disrespectful. His followers want him to implememnt this great change well don't wait on him start making a change yourself. I have a problem with the hate between the two the supporters of Sen Obama and Sen Clinton. Show some dang respect when she is no longer in the picture I wonder what the Hillary haters will do with their time. Oh that is right pick on McShame grow up his name is McCain and calling people Billary and McSame or McShame is a sign of being juvinile and Sen Obama supporters are suppose to be so well educated.

JC from NJ   June 5th, 2008 9:28 am ET

For those few Obama haters…what is he going to do to our country? Maybe he will wreck the economy, Drive us to a pointless war, Run up the deficit, Make us hated around the world? Been there and living that. Should I continue.
Now stop your hating and do what most countries in the world are doing at this moment and admire Barack Hussein Obama because whether or not you all like it I and a lot of (ignorant) people are going to do whatever it takes to hear a State of the Union address from this man. How's them apples!
PS All McCain supporters should be drafted first and if they are women be present on the day when he and his judges overturn a woman's right to choose.

Independent   June 5th, 2008 9:28 am ET

If the DNC agrees to stop accepting PAC money, they can count me in as a new donor.

Change is needed & It's time for the DNC to recognize this.

Joe - Chicago, IL   June 5th, 2008 9:28 am ET

Lots of candidates talk about doing this, but never follow through. I'm looking foward to seeing how this plays out. Its a shrewd move considering McCain used to be the champion of campaign finance reform. This could be a huge campaign highlight for Obama.

A Liberian-Canadian in Toronto   June 5th, 2008 9:28 am ET

yes. Show your capacity to change the country. This will help McCain to understand your leadership. Hillary did not want to go. Believe me McCain is easy to beat than Hillary. "Charlott" Democrocy is EXACTLY what is going on here! Obama is doing the job he was ELECTED by the MAJORITY to do.

THIS is a perfect example of:

1) A poster PRETENDING to be a Democrat or "ex- Democrat"

2) A person so pitifully blinded by emotions and ignorance that we welcome them to leave the party and pout.

I believe it is a pretender though posting to create problems within the party.

There are Hundreds of fake posters so beware. It is only going to get worse.

Charlotte, you are not a true democrat anyway. Right now it's about the party and the issues that all democrats should be concerned about, because if the Republicans maintain the White House it will be business as usual. Four more years exactly like the past eight.

The election was competitive and we had two good candidates, but it comes down to the fact that Hillary lost, not because of anything Obama did, but because she ran a flawed campaign.

TIME TO PUT THIS BEHIND US AND COME TOGETHER.

Kenneth, you are an idiot if you believe he does not need the Clinton supporters to win in November. People like you are the reason I will write in Hillary Clinton in November.

Jason in WV   June 5th, 2008 9:24 am ET

"I think the way this election was handled if a disgrace to democracy."

You mean a disgrace in the sense that Obama won more states, more pledged delegates (you know, the ones people vote for), and more votes (unless you use the fuzzy math where caucus states don't count and Obama has zero supporters in MI) than Sen. Clinton? He beat her, fair and square, by every conceivable metric.

Even if FL and MI were seating at 100% and he received zero delegates from MI, he would still be ahead in the delegate race and would still be the nominee.

East Coast Bum   June 5th, 2008 9:24 am ET

The DNC won't get any money from me until they count all of the votes in FL & MI. Punishing voters for the actions of a Republican legislature or a handful of Democratic insiders is not what our Party should be doing. I have no doubt that many Democrats in FL & MI will sit out the election in protest and that is contrary to the goal of uniting and restoring our nation.

The DNC needs to hand Howard Dean a pink slip and count the votes.

As a former Democrat, I just signed up on McCain's website.

Since they no longer have Hillary to insult, they have moved to McCain's site.
I am voting for McCain to shut these people up. Not a good reason to vote for someone? Never is voting for Obama because Oprah tells you to.

Mike NYC   June 5th, 2008 9:16 am ET

Charlotte – get over it there was no conspiracy. The only person who had created the problem was Hillary Clinton. She fueled alot of the feelings you have today because of something she had changed her stance and opinion on based ultimately for her own gain.

If she cared that much about what happened in Florida and Michigan and making sure there was a strong democratic process in place she would have done so last year.

Please explain your position further in detail. Who will never get another dime from you?

Senator Obama you make me proud to be an American and alive to witness this moment in our History.

I salute you with Honor and most of all Respect.

A Texas Voter   June 5th, 2008 9:16 am ET

Dont worry Charlotte, we will all give a little extra to make up the difference!!!!OBAMA'08

Tyrone, NY   June 5th, 2008 9:16 am ET

Well now, let's see—Obama's big donations came from Tony Rezcko, who was just yesterday convicted of fraud and money laundering in Chicago. Yes, this is the same Rezcko who sold Obama land in Chicago at bargain basement prices.

I guess Obama is our model for fund raising.

europe   June 5th, 2008 9:15 am ET

Talking about the AIPAC lobbiysts, So far for 'change' after hearing the speech yesterday, it seems after all that also mister Obama's good ideas are going to waste in Washington when it comes to foreign policies, wich angered the whole Middle East. To make a statement like that in the middle of the peace proces is appaling to them and likely to fuel a whole new rage of exremism, unfortunatly. So after accusing Bush his policies does it turn out that it wil be mr. Obama who will be running for his third term??
Will you post it CNN???

Didine - Maryland   June 5th, 2008 9:15 am ET

Barack is a very smart man with brillant ideas. I hope The DNC will listen to him.

Obama '08

Phong Nguyen   June 5th, 2008 9:15 am ET

Moneywise I am out of politics…

Charlotte   June 5th, 2008 9:14 am ET

Kenneth, you are an idiot if you believe he does not need the Clinton supporters to win in November. People like you are the reason I will write in Hillary Clinton in November.

GR   June 5th, 2008 9:14 am ET

He is Oprah and Kennedy money. Duh.

Phong Nguyen   June 5th, 2008 9:14 am ET

It sounds positive!!!

voter   June 5th, 2008 9:13 am ET

good move. he is maintaining his promise to not have lobbiest control washington. it is refreshing to see a candidate stand by his word.

Jake from Ny   June 5th, 2008 9:13 am ET

This is another example of Obama's leadership, his vision, and his ability to think ahead and manage a successful operation all at the same time.

This is exactly the type of individual that we all NEED running the country. Smart and able to know what he can handle and what is better handled by somebody else.

Anthony   June 5th, 2008 9:13 am ET

Real progressive change is coming to America!!!! Brace yourselves!!!

dmw   June 5th, 2008 9:12 am ET

If the DNC does not take federal lobbyists money, I would be surprised. They may do it to please Obama, but, it will not last.

The DNC and the Democrats are as much about special interests as the Republicans. The special interests are different. One is geared towards capitialism (Republicans) and the other is geared towards Socialism (Democrats).

Bill NY   June 5th, 2008 9:12 am ET

Its nice to see that change begins right away!

Nsikan   June 5th, 2008 9:12 am ET

That's right! You practice what you preach and live what you believe. No more pretence, no more double standing, no time to waste. Pave the ways for change. It may not be easy but we trust Senetor Obama to make good on his promises. Its another time to donate my $25 to the campaign.

Sam   June 5th, 2008 9:10 am ET

Such Leadership is amazing and just a piece of what is promised.
He will be the greatest president the US has ever seen.

Obama 08/ Clinton 08

OG Straight Talk   June 5th, 2008 9:10 am ET

That is leadrship! With a person with good organisational skills, DNC will realize that little drops of water makes a might ocean that never dries! Moreover, the best option for democracy is being free form lobbyist that can blackmail and pressure you to make decisions that is in conflict with the needs and interests of the people one is representing / serving!

Steve   June 5th, 2008 9:09 am ET

Wow! Now thats what I call CHANGE! That is what we really need: Democracy by and for the people once again! It's time to tell the lobbylist and PACs that they can have their right to argue for their ideas like every other American or group of Americans, but their money will no longer talk!

FB   June 5th, 2008 9:09 am ET

So, just checking the last board.

Hilliots are still whining. Demanding things from the Obama supporters.

Wrong, you were the abnoxious ones. YOU accused Obama of being a racist. The media and the political elite claimed Bill Clinton was a racist.

You have claimed from day 1 that genderism was bringing Hillary down. Wrong, it is her lying and win at all cost attitutde. It is her, and your attitude of inevitability. Remember those days?

You and Hillary have lied (popular vote, Bosnia) and manipulated the rules (FL and MI "it is clear they will not count", to "count all votes". . . but just not caucuses or any state that could hurt me).

And you blind followers regurgitate everything she says without any sort of due diligence.

Many Hillary supportets have already jumped ship. What is left? The crazy women who are blind, and unwilling to apolgize (like Hillary). GO VOTE FOR MCCAIN. Stop threatening and just do it in Nov. In the meantime, SHUT UP!!! We owe you nothing!

CW4Barak   June 5th, 2008 9:09 am ET

Start showing them how to lead President Obama. Onwards and upwards all the way!

Obama '08

Brian Knoxville, TN   June 5th, 2008 9:08 am ET

I have voted for Democratic candidates in every primary election, general election, midterm election and recall election (I voted in CA against the 2003 recall of Gray Davis) since 1996, sometimes enthusiastically and other times not so much, and I have donated money to candidates and the DNC since 2004.

But this nomination is the worst failure of Democratic Party leadership that I have ever known. I wish pundits would stop saying that Hillary exposed weaknesses. She didn't. She's a strong candidate with depth. Obama is a weak candidate with nothing but flowery rhetoric and empty slogans. Hillary didn't 'expose' that Obama is sleazy and shallow. He just is sleazy and shallow, and most Democrats who voted in the primaries saw through the smoke and mirrors and saw that he is sleazy and shallow.

The party's leadership has totally failed us.

McCAIN FOR PRESIDENT '08
A moderate Republican and a qualified leader

Charlotte   June 5th, 2008 9:05 am ET

correction typo.. is a disgrace to democracy!!!

Annette   June 5th, 2008 9:05 am ET

Excellent move, smart and right decision on the DNC. This move shows the incredible organization and technology use by the Obama camp, a glimpse into the style of the Obama presidental administration.

Obama v McCain   June 5th, 2008 9:04 am ET

Presidental already. Let the Change begin!

Heather   June 5th, 2008 9:04 am ET

I think that's fantastic. Look out, here comes the new Democratic Party. With Obama's fundraising power behind it, we can't lose. I am so excited about this election.

Greg, NY   June 5th, 2008 9:04 am ET

Wow, I hope they comply. That would be a big move.

carlo   June 5th, 2008 9:04 am ET

It's nice to hear that Obama is using his new influence over the DNC to do something constructive and ethical. I love this man.

Charlotte   June 5th, 2008 9:04 am ET

They will never get another dime from me. I think the way this election was handled if a disgrace to democracy.

John in Virgina   June 5th, 2008 9:03 am ET

This is a good idea for the purposes of consistency. I just hope people are able to pump up the DNC funds from the measily $4.4 million they had last month.

DW   June 5th, 2008 9:02 am ET

He's (Barack) is starting on the right foot already!!! You go Barack!!! Organize! Organize!!!

I'm sooooo PROUD of YOU!!!!!

My prays are with you all the way. Great start!!!

Love ya!!!!

Kenneth M   June 5th, 2008 9:02 am ET

WOW! WHAT A PROGRESSIVE STANCE. HE IS REALLY PUTTING HIS MONEY WHERE HIS MOUTH IS. BET HILLARY WOULD HAVE NEVER DONE THAT. HE NEEDS NOT CLINTON SUPPORTER NOR SPECIAL INTEREST MONEY. WHAT A CHAMP FOR THE PEOPLE.

Enlightened Voter - No hillary for VP   June 5th, 2008 9:01 am ET

He is such an honorable man with integrity. He is not just talk, he walks the walk.
BTW-what ever happened to the gas tax holiday that hillary and mccain promised?

KP, FL   June 5th, 2008 9:00 am ET

I am very happy to see this. He is already beginning to effect the change he has so fervently endorsed his entire campaign.

REMEMBER, NO HILLARY!!
