Watch Sen. Obama discuss the economic policies of Pres. Bush and Sen. John McCain.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) - On the first day of what is to be a two-week economic tour around the country, Barack Obama said Monday he thinks lawmakers need to inject another $50 billion immediately into the sluggish U.S. economy.

The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee cited the largest monthly increase in the unemployment rate in over 20 years, and record highs in oil prices, food prices and foreclosures.

"Such relief can't wait until the next president takes office. ... That's why I've called for another round of fiscal stimulus, an immediate $50 billion to help those who've been hit hardest by this economic downturn," Obama told a crowd in Raleigh, NC.

He said specifically that he supports expanding and extending unemployment benefits, as well as a second round of tax rebate checks.

Democrats Beware!

Republicans have launched a blogosphere campaign where they claim to be Democrats who will vote for Senator McCain since Senator Clinton is not the democratic nominee!

Do not be fooled!

This is nothing more than republican tricknology, Karl Rovian VODOO; Of course all real democrats would NEVER vote for George W. Bush’s third term, ENDLESS war, overturning of Roe V. Wade, or more record profits and tax breaks for oil companies while the average American spending power continues to thin.

Be Brave Democrats and be watchful!

With a majority Democratic legislature and a Democratic President we can see real change not gridlock! Wake up Dems do not be fooled.

Jack from Texas   June 9th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

Well this isn't exactly change from the Bush policies the Senator is so against and goes to great efforts to challenge. Yet his many of his supporters think it's a brilliant plan. $50B is hardly a large enough sum either.

Printing extra money will do nothing but weaken the dollar even more, which is the main reason the economy is struggling. Prices will go up and you're right back where you started. Economies go through growths and contractions. Letting them work themselves out is usually the best course of action. Live within your means and save for contraction periods and you'll do just fine.

Bill, don't blame the auto execs. The market (consumers – you, me, him, her) did not ask for better fuel efficient cars until now. You want the government to know what you want? Keep the interest groups and PACs alive, don't kick them out like Sen. Obama wants. They are your voice. Without them, there would never be change.

Jackson:

I should expect such a response from an Obama zealot. You either misunderstood or ingored my concerns, and instead of offering anything substantial to the discussion, you bring in a cute little cheer for your demigod: "He's bringing more than change, man. He's bringing dollars!"

Where do you think these dollars will come from? They will either be from huge tax hikes or from Fed Reserve lowereing rates (in the form of printing currency out of thin air) or both. Both of these options are bad for the economy, so how can we fix a bad economy by implementing bad economic practices?

Think before you vote! Don't just line up behind Obama because he's charismatic! LOOK AT HIM! LOOK AT HIS STANCES! He represents just as much change as McCain.

The day's of cheap gas is over. This is reality. A gas holiday is not the answer. A change in attitude towards energy consumption is. We need more energy efficient cars, not artifically cheaper gas. And we need those oil companies who are experiencing windfall profits at our expense, to cough up the money for this transition.

It's so obvious. There's more to conservation than recycling cans. Even a non-college educated person like myself can see it.

Debby   June 9th, 2008 5:05 pm ET

To RIF: I read his economy plan and the only way his will work if he raises taxes for EVERYONE not just the rich. There aren't that many billionaires out there to rob peter to pay for paul. Obama might take troops out of Iraq but he will put them somewhere else as he said so we still have that 10 bill. per month to pay for.

scott   June 9th, 2008 5:04 pm ET

Spending cash like that means we must be staying in Iraq as that is going to be a expensive move on out of there, is that where the cash is going to come from or are we just not worring really about the roads and bridges he always talks about? must be making cuts again in the school system? these are just the spots the war money comes from. looks like more gov jobs and funding are going to go down. it all sounds good until you start being dumb and uneducated as Iam always told by his supporters and start thinking about it huh

Chris, Middletown, CT said:
"Open drilling in Alaska….its also time to put pressure on our allies in the middle east to increase production….if they do not….immediately pull our bases out of there….and tell the terrorists that "the Saudis have drawings of Allah…we saw them""

Drilling was banned from certain areas to protect the environment. There are plenty of other ways to fix the gas price issue without resorting to harming the environment further. The government forced TV to switch to digital. Why can't they lean on the auto industry to hasten their progress towards fuel efficiency and alternative fuels? Aptera is a great example of a new kind of car to fix our gas problem. Sadly, it has taken a spike in fuel large enough to hurt the pocketbooks of the auto industry execs to get us to the point where the large companies are actually working towards fuel efficiency.

Also, we have the technology for synthetic fuel, but we abandoned the idea when OPEC lowered natural oil prices after the 80s fuel "crisis". I'm not in favor of using wheat, corn, etc. for fuel. Let's not waste our food supply! Instead, we should be harnessing synthetic fuel, hemp, or other means of producing fuel right here without drilling.

Yes, we can... fix the problem that greedy executives have created.

Now see Senator McCain – that is the type of thinking we need right now not a GAS TAX. If you are really concerned about Americans and the folks you call "lower income" then you, Senator Clinton need to get on board and stress to old BUSH to do it again NOW>>>>>>

Bush and his administration got us into this mess, it is up to them to get us out. The adminstration believes it will just "fade into the sunset" well for et that.

When Bush came into office economy was Great, had surplus monies. But in 8 years Republicans have put us in a war based on lies from adminsitration, bankrupt the USA, and made America the laughing stock of the world instead as the most respected and feared.

So I would recommend you Senator McCain, you Senator Clinton, you Senator Feinstein, with your sorry old self, Senator Graham, Liberamann, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi – all you folks who think you know how to run this country -

back Senator Obama in this additional stimulas proposition for Americans. Come out of your white house BUBBLE and get Real about what we Americans are going through as Senator Obama is doing and has been doing since he announced his candidancy. HOPE, FUTURE have you tired old folks ever heard of it and it is not a fairy tale ask Bill Clinton, ask John F. Why are Hillary's supporters so bent on not voting for Barack Obama? I cannot understand why any democrate wouldn't. And it seems to be not just the women, but the men as well. Even if Barack hasn't been in the Senate as long as Hillary or McCain, he is the best candidate that we have right now to fix this situation. Remember ... there are only two(2) candidates left to choose from. McCain doesn't know anything about the economy ... he said it himself. Hillary and Barack have almost identical solutions for so many of our problems. Who do you think will most likely ask Hillary for her input, Barack Obama or John McCain? I think you all know the answer to that.

mccain all the way   June 9th, 2008 4:10 pm ET

Are you people crazy? Unemployment is up due to oil and gas prices. The economy is down due to oil and gas prices. Sure, greener is better, but what is the reason we are where we are? Because the liberals won't let us drill, using clean modern technology in locations where there is a multitude of stored fossil based energy and we are suffering because of it. All of you tree-huggers have put us in this fix. Currently, drilling offshore is only allowed in the gulf of mexico off the coasts of Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi. Drill, produce clean efficient domestic oil and watch the price go down. In addition, the US is dependent on fossil fuels to produce electricity because the Democrats and liberals have prevented any nuclear reactors from being built since Three Mile Island.

Don't blame the republicans when it is the liberal agenda that has gotten this country where it is.

By the way, if you want to see approval ratings worse than Bush's, look deep on the web and look at the approval ratings of congress. They are at 12%. THAT'S RIGHT FOLKS. YOUR DEMOCRATIC CONTROLLED CONGRESS HAS AN APPROVAL RATING OF 12%. LET'S VOTE FOR THAT!

Brilliant. Doesn't this guy read the news? By all accounts, the most recent tax "stimulus" is a total disaster. As economists had forecasted early on, people are either saving the rebate checks or paying bills. They are NOT putting it back into the economy. what will $50bn do to a $14 trillion economy (GDP), nothing.

That's a third of one percent, basically nothing. This will be done on a rebate check he says, $167 dollars each, which most people will just add into bank account, not being used. Or used on gas, driving prices higher, as lots buy on one day.

Not good change obama, merely pocket change.

I don't think Obama can make that second stimulous check happen and I don't think McCain can make that gas holiday happen either. Is it PANDER WEEK?

Joe   June 9th, 2008 3:31 pm ET

In a time where unemployment is a problem, expanding unemployment benefits are OK, but the $50 billion stimulus? This is going to create more inflation.

I am very fond of Obama as his policies are light years better than McCain's, but not this one.

Dear America: start walking and ride a bike, OK?

JJ   June 9th, 2008 3:18 pm ET

While I agree the gov't needs to do more to help the economy, I'm not sure if the stimulus checks again are the way to go. Those checks didn't help last time because the money didn't go back in the economy. Most of those checks went to pay off people's debt.

Plus with the checks, how will they enforce payback? An advance of next years taxes? They already did that to the first round. Maybe I need to listen to the entire proposal before making up my mind. Initially, I don't think it will help.

Ask Germany how just printing more money and giving it out helped their economy prior to World War 2.

Lets de-value the dollar some more. We all don't make a living off of slick political deals like you so turing a dollar last year into 50 cents this year does not help average Americans.

Obama's Fiscal Policy: Run the Printing Presses Non-Stop!

Somebody stop this idiot! The last thing we need to do right now is inflate the money supply, weaken the dollar, increase inflation and send the price of all dollar-denominated commodities (like, um, oil?) skyrocketing. This is what you people are trying to bring into the White House? Is there anything this PANDERING fool will not do to get some votes? Suspending the gas tax is one thing, but 50 billion dollars worth of pandering? This is so incredibly disgusting...

DJ, LA, CA   June 9th, 2008 3:04 pm ET

Empty suit? Take off the blinders and read again. Obama gave very specific ideas. Check your facts first before you post.

Reality-check time to the cynics...people really do need all the help they can get because now we can barely afford to pay for food, rent/mortgage, and gas. Second stimulus check would be a huge relief to the average citizen.

Republican question, "Where is all this money going to come from?"

Common guy's question, "Where is all the money for tax breaks for the filthy rich, and the money for 100 years of War in Iraq going to come from?"

The war in Iraq is costing us like a billion dollars a day. If we can not find $50 billion for people to buy food and gas, for sure hell we can not find money for 50 days of war.

Independent   June 9th, 2008 2:56 pm ET

To: all the people who is saying Obama is too inexperience for the job

If Obama is too inexperience to do the job, then why Republicans didn’t put Dick Cheney on the nomination ballot? He would have been perfect fit according to you guys. He has about 7 ½ year of experience as no. 2 position of the country.

Obama might not have prior the experience to run a country but he has courages, positive ideas and attitudes to give us a fresh start. As he mention in his speech “I am not going to say what you want to hear, I am going to say what you need to hear. Together we can build a strong country.”

Cathy in Illinois   June 9th, 2008 2:56 pm ET

People, wake up!! This country is so darn far in debt now that our great-great-great-great-grandkids will still be paying off our debt. To advocate another "rebate" give-a-way is ludicrous. My gosh, we had to borrow the money for the last "rebate checks" from another country. We're borrowing to pay for the way in Iraq. We're borrowing to give aid to every country from here to eternity and back. When are we going to wake up and realize we've got to learn to live within our means?? Why do you think the U.S. dollar is just almost worthless in the money markets these days? The LAST thing we need is another give-a-way check or another entitlement program. When was the last time we had a truly balanced budget and were able to actually start paying down the national debt?? We need to quit looking for a government hand-out every time we turn around.... and that goes for both individuals and corporate America.

Why not allow some drilling in our own country to increase the supply of oil? Oh, no, Democrats are too concerned about environment – it's more important to them than people.

Our problems with rising oil prices begun when Democrats took control of Congress. It's almost like the US economy is allergic to the Democrats-controlled Congress and is having an allergic reaction now.

YES WE CAN + YES WE WILL= DEMS IN WHITE HOUSE   June 9th, 2008 2:37 pm ET

This is a great idea considering the state of the unemployment rate! That's just it the govt. has always stop short of doing things that will help the middle and lower income peoples.

Obama is going to raise taxes, but on those that are not even feeling the pinch of today's economy! Obama feels that the rich should do their part instead of us non rich paying the most taxes, rather than they getting all the tax breaks. It's no different than our christian beliefs of helping those less fortunate.

McCain like all Republicans don't even really believe there is a shortage in the economy because they have never felt it, they have been too rich to even fully understand all they know is to get richer. They understand this though somebody has to pay if they don't and who is that somebody? US! Middle and lower income citizens the peasants of America!

It all reminds me of the Robinhoods storyline only Obama won't have to steal from the rich, he's letting them know upfront they are going to start paying their fair share of the burden, they have over taxed the peasants, we need a relief now.

It cost to be the boss is what these rich need to understand! And I don't mean small businesses I know most of them think they are among the rich, but we are not! Don't let your pride be your downfall, you had better know and understand where you fit in in this economic scheme of things or continue to be left out of the American Dream.

Greg Pottstown, Pa.   June 9th, 2008 2:37 pm ET

He said specifically that he supports expanding and extending unemployment benefits,

So instead of down sizing company's will close because they will have to pay more unemployment . That is so dumb. It helps you go longer without looking for a job. Lets just pay for people to do nothing . I don't know about you but i am tiered of paying taxes or missing a raise for people that are nothing but a drain

Here is an a good way to stimulate the economy... let's not pour so much money into Iraq and wars, take those billions of dollars to help fix health care and Social security... give a little back to people to spend... and we will see a better America. I love Obama, but I don't think a second round of checks will do anything... I don't think the first round will do anything. If people can't be guaranteed a retirement and health care, they are going to save every dime they can to pay for these things... so until those programs are stable there is no way people can afford to spend money. The war is a good place to look for money to fund other programs. Start there and then move on. That's just my thoughts though... I could be wrong I guess.

We are paying (literally) PAYING iraqi tribal leaders not to shoot each other or did we forget the additional money (billions) Bush ask for the Iraqi war on top of the War Budget. Not to mention the millions we lost in the middle of the desert. Just lost it.

And the money given back to individuals is equilivant to lowering taxes, YOU ARE GETTING IT BACK. They want you to spend it into the marketplace. Even if you are spending on gas, this is better than unraveling the gas tax so you will spin the stimulus check on gas, pay gas tax and support road workers and municipals.

To recognize the economic struggles people are facing and to suggest a plan to help relieve the economic pressure – that is the way it should be done. Too many people are having very hard times right now.

Obama is about helping this country get back-up on its feet, and will do the right thing to get it done.

sj in MN   June 9th, 2008 2:22 pm ET

I see no solutions coming from either Busch or McCain. The republicans are in charge of the white house and the blame for the current economy crisis lay directly in their laps. OBAMA has always talked about cynicism in government and some people, and it is on display in so many of these close-minded comments written here. If you can't put trust in anyone or anything what can you put your trust in?

charles   June 9th, 2008 2:22 pm ET

thats more like it. not tax holiday from the clueless old man.

Steven in Charleston   June 9th, 2008 2:21 pm ET

Expanding unemployment benefits is a good idea, due to the fact that people are having a hard time finding work, however I am completely opposed to the idea of a second "stimulus" payment. It hasn't worked the last two times we've done it, and it won't work again. It is simply economic pandering, nothing more.

For shame, Sen. Obama - I expected better of you.

FactCheck   June 9th, 2008 2:20 pm ET

Cost of war in Iraq for ONE DAY = $720,000,000. That's where the money is coming from.

People are you listening   June 9th, 2008 2:19 pm ET

McCain supporters please do not be stupid enought to keep bringing up Rezko. Who so far only fundraised for Obama and went in on a land purchase that Obama paid 1.3 million for a 1.6 million dollar property and and Rezko paid full price for the adjacent land. When Obama was the highest bidder.

Because noone has forgotten about the Keaty 5 and that failed SNL that McCain was actively involved in.

P, CA   June 9th, 2008 2:19 pm ET

Here is a supporting blog to what I just posted:

$825 billion / 4,091 soldiers killed =

EVERY TIME WE SPEND $200 MILLION ON IRAQ, 1 SOLDIER DIES.

Remember that, McCain. Each $200 million you throw away on making our country "safer" kills one more person. We're like the parent letting the kid sit in a chair while we do the fighting for them. Stand the kid up and teach him how to protect himself.

We're pampering Iraq.

PLEASE POST, CNN....

Kristen- Philadelphia, PA   June 9th, 2008 2:18 pm ET

Maybe this would excite me if I had gotten the first tax rebate. College Students whose parents claim them don’t get any rebate but I am still broke like students who aren’t dependent. Obama you have my support for November but not on this one.

BE FAIR HILLARY SUPPORTERS   June 9th, 2008 2:18 pm ET

has anybody caught on that as we get closer to BUSH coming out the WHITE HOUSE the more and more gas GOES UP!!!! and if McSAME get in the white house GAS might be 200 a barrell maybe more!! Of Heaven SHine down on us.

Peter E   June 9th, 2008 2:16 pm ET

Aha... and exactly where does he plan on getting that $50 billion from? We've heard this same rhetoric before... from President Bush. Hence the record deficits. I guess Obama also thinks our grandkids should pay the tab!

Citizen   June 9th, 2008 2:16 pm ET

The money is coming from the same place that Bush and the Republicans got it from. What a bunch of hypocrites; these rebates and the weekly checks for the Iraq war was not a problem as long as the Republicans were do it. However, as soon as a Democrat announces the same thing, then the Republicans try to act all fiscally conservative. What a bunch of hypocrites.

Ken   June 9th, 2008 2:15 pm ET

sounds like a good strategy.

Tough Choice   June 9th, 2008 2:15 pm ET

18 cents off each gallon of gas (for a summer's worth of $30 savings), or a $300 rebate check. What to do, what to do??

People are you listening   June 9th, 2008 2:14 pm ET

Obama – tax and spend, tax and spend, tax and spend

McCain – Spend, Spend, Spend, Spend and let's not forget war

Val   June 9th, 2008 2:14 pm ET

Obama, enough with this nonsense. People be smart and don't fall for his dangerous rheteric.

jim   June 9th, 2008 2:13 pm ET

I'm curious to see how BHO is going to pay for this stimulus. Obama is insane to think that his 'government solve everything' ideas are going to do anything but hike taxes and debt upon an already stressed nation.

Let's see if CNN actually posts this comment.

McCain '08

Concerned   June 9th, 2008 2:13 pm ET

I support Obama but I am 100% opposed to another round of stimulus payments. We don't even have any proof that the first round in 2008 did anything for the economy.

People are you listening   June 9th, 2008 2:12 pm ET

One wants to give you a Gas Tax Holiday for three months and save you at the most $70. The other wants to inject 50 billion so you can have another rebate check like the ones going out already for at least $300 dollars. Now who is really trying to help you.

Mar   June 9th, 2008 2:11 pm ET

A VOTE FOR OBAMA = A VOTE FOR JERIMIAH WRIGHT, TONY REZKO, WILLIAM AYERS AND FATHER PFLAEGER.
DO YOU WANT THESE PEOPLE IN OUR WHITE HOUSE BECUASE THAT’S WHERE THEY WILL BE IF YOU VOTE FOR OBAMA.
HIS RELATIONSHIPS WITH THESE PEOPLE SHOW HIS VERY BAD JUDGEMENT.
SAY NO TO OBAMA

km   June 9th, 2008 2:10 pm ET

I support this guy... but this won't work. We're too far gone. As a retailer, I am looking towards the end of the elections to boost the economy a bit. People are scared about the future with George Bush at the helm. When people are scared, the hunker down and save their resources. We are looking for an uptake in consumer spending this Christmas season....as a celebration of shedding Bush.

Chris, Middletown, CT   June 9th, 2008 2:09 pm ET

Open drilling in Alaska....its also time to put pressure on our allies in the middle east to increase production....if they do not....immediately pull our bases out of there....and tell the terrorists that "the Saudis have drawings of Allah...we saw them"

Viva Obama 08   June 9th, 2008 2:09 pm ET

A Vote for Barrack Obama is a vote for Hillary Clinton because they support the same cause.
A vote for John McCain is a vote for a George Bush third term more wars, bad economy and more country will not want to deal with our country. If you were really a true Hillary suppoter that want a better America for this generation and the future generation you must vote Democratic this November. Please do yourself a good favor and vote for the Democratic nominee this coming November.
No hard feeling because Hillary has none against Barrack. We must put the Republican out of the white house.
As you can see, we are in a big reccession and that will get worse with a John McCain. I want to tell John McCain that gas tax holliday is not a solution for the energy problem and will not going to be a solution. This gas tax holliday shows that John McCain do not understand the economy.

Ron L   June 9th, 2008 2:09 pm ET

SOMETHING needs to be done QUICKLY before it gets worst. There should be an extension of unemployment benefits. I am in Michigan and it is REALLY HARD to find a decent job here. And for those who wonder what I mean by decent $30,000 to $35,000 with some health care.

Penelope   June 9th, 2008 2:08 pm ET

OH, and suspending the gas tax for the summer was pandering to the voters. Are you kidding me? Where , praytell are you going to get the money? from writing another book? Nice show of economic experience. We already have a huge deficit. Are you the kind who thinks if he doesn't open bills that means he doesn't have to pay them.Nice bike Barack-you looked just like PeeWee Herman. And I hope you didn't lose the training wheels, you're going to need them.

Obama Mama   June 9th, 2008 2:07 pm ET

That is a good idea until the war in Iraq is stopped. The paltry economic stimulas wasn't enough and more should be done.

Marine   June 9th, 2008 2:07 pm ET

At the rate the checks are going out, haven't received mine yet, the $600 per taxpayer stimulus check is only worth around $300 thanks to the outrageous gasoline, food, medical, etc. prices.

MLG   June 9th, 2008 2:07 pm ET

Where do you plan on getting the money. More TAXES!!! McCain 08

Lisa   June 9th, 2008 2:06 pm ET

I'm all for it. The stimulus package I received is all gone. These gas prices are rediculuos

Stacy Clarks   June 9th, 2008 2:06 pm ET

LET'S GO OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Adam - TX   June 9th, 2008 2:06 pm ET

I'm up for another rebate check – Although I think these stimulus packages are flawed economics!

Obama!!   June 9th, 2008 2:05 pm ET

I recommend setting up a system where people receive check cards that must be used to PURCHASE goods and not pay down debt. I know I spent my rebate issued in May on debt. So it did not help the economy.

Elaine   June 9th, 2008 2:05 pm ET

Something needs to be done cause we're sure falling further in the hole here.

And the guy who helped put us there is running off to Europe.

HELP!!!!

HamptonU1992 in Maryland   June 9th, 2008 2:04 pm ET

Way go go! Finally someone that cares about our needs and won't pander to us just to get elected.

I can't wait for President Obama!!

mollygonz   June 9th, 2008 2:03 pm ET

I love the way you talk Obama!! Keep it up!! McSame is talking about the gas tax holiday again...God help us if he wins.

bill from pa   June 9th, 2008 2:03 pm ET

Works for me. Between the last rebate and this one I just might be able to pay for my oil heat this winter. The economy is doing great though isn't it?

mikky from grand rapids, michigan   June 9th, 2008 2:02 pm ET

I can't not bring myself to vote for Obama. I just cant see any good he has done. At least with McCain I know what Im getting. Besides, I vote for the person, not the party.

I cant wait for Obama to lose and ALL of us Hillary supporters can yell...

NO YOU DIDN'T!!!!

Arkansas Undertaker   June 9th, 2008 2:01 pm ET

This man is very intelligent and very rational in his thinking. That is why he will make an excellent President. He thinks about things and gets others opinions before he makes his decisions.

What would Rezko do............................hmmmmmmmmmm

CW4Barak   June 9th, 2008 2:00 pm ET

Yes Pres. Obama....teach them about fiscal responsibility.....all the money we are blowing up in Iraq and Afghanistan we could be spending here to build our economy and securing our borders....those people over there are not better off for it and we are far worst off for it....so who is really winning this war!! Oh, I know McCainBushCheney with their oil interest and investments!! No wonder they want to keep our troops there for 100 years so they and their colleagues can continue to live the high life! Obama, we are soooo longing for the Change!

Obama '08

P, CA   June 9th, 2008 2:00 pm ET

Here come the Republicans to tell us that he won't be able to find the money anywhere.... hmmm.. let's think... how about... all those tax cuts that Bush gave the rich, let's repeal those. And then, maybe.... hm... BRING OUR TROOPS HOME. That would give us more than enough for this one.

I love it how everyone acts like Democrats are just going to pile up debts and hurt the country, when we've had evidence that the Republicans' urge to withhold money (and put it in the wrong place) has sent this country into the dark ages again. No money for schools, holding back on relief efforts. Sure, we're saving money, but the people suffer... and then, we go and put it into Iraq/national security instead of getting the Iraqi government standing on its own and then keeping the money we're wasting.

Don't EVEN try it, Republicans. This country needs an injection/redistribution of wealth, and we DEFINITELY don't need to be throwing it away... I'd love to see someone do a calcluation:
($ spent in Iraq)/(soldiers killed)
see how much money we're spending per capita to kill americans.

Jason   June 9th, 2008 1:59 pm ET

Enlightened Voter - no mccain   June 9th, 2008 1:58 pm ET

His judgement so far and his knowledge of the issues has been impeccable.

The Austrian   June 9th, 2008 1:58 pm ET

Ugh....

Wasn't this guy supposed to bring "CHANGE"?!?!? And furthermore, wasn't it supposed to be change we can believe in?

Well, this isn't a change, and I can't believe it either. You can't have the Fed Reserve print money out of thin air and expect that to help the economy! This is a FUNDAMENTAL of economics, Senator! Your efforts are only going to make us poorer in the long run. Shame on you and all of your zombies for screaming "change" without really having any idea what you're talking about.

Gues where this money is really comming from???

mikky from grand rapids, michigan   June 9th, 2008 1:56 pm ET

And where does he think we are going to get this money? And he said the gas Holiday was stupid???

Chuck   June 9th, 2008 1:56 pm ET

Why don't we just giver everyone a $5,ooo.oo credit card and thell them they don't have to pay the bills? That in 20 years, their kids will still be paying off the interest?

Empty suit.

Democrat for Life   June 9th, 2008 1:55 pm ET

FYI Hillary Supporters,
I had a republican neighbor tell me this weekend that he and a gropu of his friends likes to go on this blog and portray himself as Hillary supporters that will never vote for Obama just to get other Hillary supporters to follow suit. He said it is his greatest joy to see how fast Hillary supporters will turn against their own party. He also stated that republicans would never do that. Just thought you should know…
