Drilling was banned from certain areas to protect the environment. There are plenty of other ways to fix the gas price issue without resorting to harming the environment further. The government forced TV to switch to digital. Why can't they lean on the auto industry to hasten their progress towards fuel efficiency and alternative fuels? Aptera is a great example of a new kind of car to fix our gas problem. Sadly, it has taken a spike in fuel large enough to hurt the pocketbooks of the auto industry execs to get us to the point where the large companies are actually working towards fuel efficiency.

Also, we have the technology for synthetic fuel, but we abandoned the idea when OPEC lowered natural oil prices after the 80s fuel "crisis". I'm not in favor of using wheat, corn, etc. for fuel. Let's not waste our food supply! Instead, we should be harnessing synthetic fuel, hemp, or other means of producing fuel right here without drilling.

Yes, we can... fix the problem that greedy executives have created.
