Analysis: Crossing the Clintons

Former aides to Sen. Hillary Clinton say those who switched their support to Sen. Barack Obama may be on the outs.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - One after another, they jumped ship and left Sen. Hillary Clinton's campaign to back her Democratic rival, Sen. Barack Obama. And while the chapter on her campaign may be closed, there are still open wounds over those who've crossed the Clintons.

"So today, I am standing with Sen. Obama to say, 'yes we can!' " Clinton said on Saturday.

Yes, Clinton can support Obama in his race for the presidency. But as for the former Clinton supporters who switched sides, forgiving and forgetting might not come that easily.

The New York Times reported that some Clinton loyalists have been keeping tabs on those who have crossed the Clintons.

But CNN contributor and longtime Clinton backer James Carville told CNN's Wolf Blitzer Wednesday that article is "laughable."

"It's a very silly piece ... There really wasn't a list ... It's laughable. I talked to a lot of people in Clinton land today and they're not even sure what the point of the story was," he said.

One former Clinton adviser, however, said there's no doubt some have forever burned bridges with the power couple.

Who cares about burning a bridge thats no longer needed?! Why is this news? Nobody "crossed" anybody, they went with their hearts for what they thought was best for the country, should they be punished for that?

  5. Could be true!

If I were Hillary I would have a hard time forgiving the "friends" who backed Obama. I would have to say I would never want to be Bill Richardson! The Clintons helped him get to be Gov of his state.

I am glad that other talented children will get a chance to rule this country. This country was owned by two families and through Obama we can have another family that will lead us and might help us come out from dictactorship!
    Think of it
If hillary became a president, by the time she get's out, will be eight years and Jeb Bush will have a son to rule us or the husband to jenna Bush will be done with his school, will be 38-40 at the time and would be gloomed to be a president.

It is time for Americans to realize that we have our country back!

al- Do you not watch CNN or read at Cnn.com? One reason: Suspending her campaine gives her time to raise money to pay off her debt. You act like she is the only one in this campaine season to suspend her race instead of dropping out completely. She also get's to keep her delegates which will come in handy if Obama's campaine keeps messing up.

  10. the real deal

Think hard people. First of all if someone crosses no you don'r forget it. I mean you haven't forgotten all the bad things someone may have done to you now have you. It's politics. Second why do you Obamadables care who the Clintons don't speak to anymore, you have your cult leader to follow.

Al, the suspension is because she wants to make sure the party is covered. in case something blows up in his face. Do you not think the republicans are digging something up and are watching his every move. It's politics and just because he wants to play nice in the sandbox doesn't mean they will.

    al:

HRC suspended her campaign for only 1 reason...so she can legally continue to raise funds for the debts. It is a legal technicality.
It has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not she supports Obama, or how much she supports him, or if she has some nefarious plan to sabotage him in Denver. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

Can u get off her back please, and stop antagonizing her supporters!!

It's time to turn the page around. Let's all vote for Sen. Obama now because we all know that if McCain gets elected, Amecia will still go down, McCain is just a continuation of Bush's term. So people let's say if you want something like what we have and where we are today, go ahead vote for McCain. But if you want something different and new abroach, vote for sen. Obama, forget the wound, you'll get better sooner or later. Trust me!

The Clinton's don't own you just because you have worked for them. Everyone acts like they have long string tied to you and they hold the other end. I think Bill Richardson is owed an apology from James Carvelle. He had the right to make decisions he wanted to without a back lash from anyone.

Please we have so much to take care of. Things that should have been started 28 years or more ago.

  18. BILL RICHARDSON IS NOT A FRIEND OF MINE

Bill Richardson DOES NOT represent the Latin American community. The vast majority of Latinos are about hard work, principles, and LOYALTY!!!!

BILL RICHARDSON, Please stop speaking Spanish, you don't deserve such priviledge. You should try to apply for citizenship in HELL! Go faint at the Obama cult line and don't come back!

    Sincerely,

James Carville laughable funny coming from the man that brought us the Judas comment. The Clintons need to accept defeat and fall in line with the Democratic party. Hillary needs to go back to work like Edwards and Hucklabee no more kicking and screaming tell what you will do if the party does not give in to you.

THE MEDIA CANT LEAVE THE CLINTONS ALONE,JUST LIKE THE HATERS CANT STOP HATING.ITS JUST DIGGING O.B.'S GRAVE DEEPER IN NOV. I THINK THE MEDIA IS JEALOUS LIKE MANY O.B. WOMAN VOTERS OF HRC. SHE HAS MORE WILL POWER, KNOWLEDGE , AND IS AMERICA'S FIGHTER FOR A WOMAN. REPUBLICAN'S ONLY HATE HRC ,BECAUSE THEY KNOW SHE CAN BEAT THEM. THATS WHY O.B. GOT THE NOMINATION HANDED TO HIM ,THINK ABOUT IT. HRC ISN'T STUPID. WHY DO YOU THINK SHE IS NOT GIVING UP HER DELIGATES AND VOTES. HRC DOSN'T NEED O.B. LIKE HE NEEDS HER. SHE MIGHT ENDORSE HIM ,BUT IF SHE GETS PLAYED BY O.B. JUST TO GET VOTES FROM HER SUPPORTERS AND NOT PUT HER VP. OR SOMETHING BIG. WELL THERE IS A SAYING. WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND. THINK ABOUT IT.

  21. Democrat for Mcain

    To future Obama loser,
We don't need your change but we will change for a better candidate. Mcain is the one. He was a war hero and had the experience to be the president of United States. Hillary was right. and did not want to be your VP because you will be a big loser.

Does Clinton's "Enemies List" exist? Based on this commentary, James Carville says it is nonsense and laughable. But I suspect differently. Yes it is exist, especially if Terry McAuliffe goes on the record and acknowledge the existence of the list. I don't think Terry would lie on the Clinton's about this matter. I also suspect the list was a big factor as to why delegates waited to the last possible second to make their endorsements known. They preferred a more "friendlier" Barack Obama as oppose to the politically incendiary, divisive, knife fighting Clintons.

In case you have forgotten, many democratic legislators had their arms twisted by the Clinton's during Bill's two terms, , , , , , , in order to support policies that caused many democratic senators and congressmen to lose their political seats. The Clinton's had little sympathy to offer when their party representatives started dropping like flies between 1992 and 2000. So it is not surprising to me that democratic delegates resisted Hillary's offers to endorse her when the hope of an Obama nomination was just around the corner. Hillary needs to understand that just as she has an enemies list, her name apparently is on the enemies list of a lot more Senators and Congressmen than she must have thought. So she needs to tread lightly in the halls of congress.

    Sincerely,
    An Obama Mama

I guess humans live on building alliances all there life and loyalty is important to most of us so it does hurt when people who you thought were close to you let you down. Bill Richardson, would we know him as much if it wasn't for all those years he was in the Clinton administration. Many others like him were lucky to be appointed by Bill Clinton. When Carville called him Judas I think it's a name that will stay with Richardson all of his life. That's gotta hurt.

I am amazed at how many people in this country are so easily influenced. Who is this Obama??? No one, I want to know. I have heard all I have to to hear, I will not vote for him. He may be a good person but he is no way near being someone that I would consider to be qualified as President of the United States. Well, it seems like this country is making another bad judgement on who they pick for president! BO is scary! Obama supporters think that Clinton supporters won't vote for him out of spite,, THAT'S NOT IT AT ALL.... We don't want to vote for him because of who HE is and what he stands for. I will still hope and pray for a miracle that Hillary gets in somehow, someway.
