DNC moving operations to Chicago

WASHINGTON (CNN) – The Democratic National Committee announced Thursday that a significant part of their operations would be moving from Washington to Chicago, the home of the Obama campaign.

“We've begun a transition period here at the DNC that fully integrates our operations in DC with the Obama operation in Chicago and in the states,” DNC spokeswoman Karen Finney tells CNN. “Our goal is to quickly consolidate these efforts into one operation and effectively drive one national strategy.”

The political, field and constituency operations are being moved to Obama's Chicago headquarters, while the research and communications departments will remain in DC.

After winning the nomination, Obama decided to keep Howard Dean on as chairman of the DNC, and sent over senior aide Paul Tewes to oversee the collaboration.

“When the nominee comes in, we essentially merge the Democratic National Committee with the campaign of the presidential candidate,” Dean told reporters on Tuesday, “there’s not going to be a coordination problem.”

Finney emphasized that the goal is for Obama and DNC staffers to feel part of “one big team” and to eliminate any redundancies. She pointed to 2004 as an example of when the Kerry campaign and DNC resources wastefully overlapped.

DNC staffers in Washington will also have the opportunity to work in other states – both the Obama campaign and the DNC have staff in all 50 states and many will work under the same roof.

“The blending of the cultures is not hard at all, it’s pretty seamless,” said Finney.

Details are still being worked out, how many staffers and who will technically employ them is still unclear.

This is an unprecedented move, and speaks volumes to the executive strength of Obama and top aids. His campaign has become the hallmark of efficiency and tactical fortitude.

He will undoubtedly, when president, appoint the best of the best to his cabinet and the country will be MUCH better off for it.

Compare this to Bush and his sea of Regent university (pat robertson school of jesus in politics) undergraduates who are embedded EVERYWHERE in the Bush administration.

Well why not. Isn't that where the "Dailey " machine is located. Too many states are in play for the fix to go in like what took place with the John Kennedy election. Illinios , especially chicago will not determine this election. They can pick up a few votes there by letting all the illegals vote since they sanction illegal immigration.

I have a problem with this merger. What happens when McCain beats Obama? Will the DNC move back to Washington? What is the cost this move will entail? Does the DNC help other candidates win their elections, or do they now just help Obama? This move is crazy. You can now offically consider me an EX-democrat!

Why don't we just hand over the whole party to Obama? This looks more and more like he was selected by Dean and Co. to be the nominee.

The New Obamacrats Party should move out. Who need to be kicked out of the Democratic Party? Who changed the rules?

    Never give up for democracy.

    If not Hillary, McCain 2008.

Well, I find this really weird. Moving to Chicago? Double strange to me. Makes me wonder if this is the plan the DNC had all along with the help of Obama donations for his campaign. That way, Obama keeps Howard Dean as Chairman. Hmmmmmmm. Sounds like we all were bamboozled from the get-go and the DNC planned all along to make Obama the nominee. I still am not forgetting how the DNC, the media, Obama himself, along with his supporters, treated Hillary Clinton during her campaign. She is a champion and always will be. I am still angry about it and it will take some time for me to make up my mind for November. Still wanting Hillary Clinton to be our President.

    This truly is no joke.

The Obama campaign has used its financial resources to take over the DNC and is now beginning to patrol the internet for activities of citizens who are opposed to the illegitimate selection of Barack Obama as the undemocratic Democratic Party’s nominee.
The Obama campaign is already using its power to suppress Democrats’ voices, just as it tried to do consistently during the nomination process. These tactics are sleazy and have to be condemned by every American.

The website of our registered organization–People United Means Action PAC–has been systematically targeted since yesterday and is still suffering sustained disruptions. Right now, our links are not working.

Anyone who even thinks about donating money to the Obama campaign must think about the way in which his or her money is being used.

Wake up now, before you discover after it is too late that you have unwittingly supported the rise of yet another secretive and unaccountable regime that abuses the power that YOU gave it.
