"Sen. John McCain said Wednesday that he is "pleasantly surprised" that the Iraqi prime minister "is now behaving like a leader."

The Iraqi people don't want the U.S. and it's influences there, so why stay, John McCain?

As an ardent supporter of Hillary Clinton and a life long Democrat, I find it hard to vote for Obama, but even more so to vote for McCain.
Not voting is not an option, but who to vote for is the delema. Obama, McCain or a write-in.
With Obama I would have to hold my nose, but with McCain I'd have to don a gas mask.
One reason I would vote McCain in the hope that he would win, is that it would tear the Democratic party apart and from that rubble may emerge a stronger Democratic party that represents the center of the political spectrum.
One reason I would vote for Obama is the Supreme Court, but their June 12, 2008 ruling mitigated that need somewhat.
Obama reminds me of Carter and his inexperiance when it came to dealing with realities of national politics. Along with the cliques in the Democratic party each with their own agenda, bolds disaster for an inexperiance Obama.
McCain, along with Romney, the poster chridren for flip floppers.
Where were all these Obama supporters in 2000 and 2004? Sitting on their hands or voting for Nader.
Well let's see how they like it when their candidate loses because others sit on their hands or vote for a third party candidate.

if Mister stupid Obama gets his way and withdraws the troops from \Iraq all the money spent and the lives lost will be for nothing. I am a military man with 28 years in the U.S. Army(Retired). You can't deal with thes folks like Iran, Libyia, Syria, Pakistan, Saudia Arabia, Palestine they are all terrorist networks and they hate the West and all our allies. If we leave from over there we will never again be allowed back in. The only way will be like Omaha Beach and the Normandy invasion at a tremendous amount of lost lives when it's time for us to go back in. AND THAT IS A GIVEN, WE WILL HAVE TO GO BACK. The Middle East is a powder keg waiting to explode. ALL IT WILL TAKE IS SOMEONE LIKE OBAMA AS PRESIDENT OF THE U.S. TO SET IT OFF. THEY WILL BE PATIENT THEY WILL WAIT A COUPLE OF YEARS BECAUSE THEY ARE A PATIENT PEOPLE THEN ALL HADES IS GOING TO COME OUR WAY. IT'S NOT JUST FACT PEOPLE IT IS PROPHECY. READ YOUR BIBLES AND FALL ON YOUR KNEES AND PRAY BECAUSE YOU ARE ELECTING THE SNAKE FROM THE TREE WHO IS NOW ON THE GROUND TO THE HIGHEST OFFICE OF THE WORLD.

McCain is getting delayed information otherwise he wouldn't be making those statements or is this just another one of his "senior moments". Iran and Iraq are kissing buddies, but McCain you that's okay, you can "EXPLODE" your anger on Americans.

Oh yes Romney why didn't you send your next generations to Iraq heck that could have taken care of the Missionary situation since you believe in this war.

Rachel - McShame is used for him supporting this shamefull war the war that was started by Bush /Cheney for no reason just their nonsence /the war that has injured thousands of Warriors and over 4,000 killed because of Bush and gang of Oil /Haliburton Megas are filling their own pockets .
These idiots could care less how many young men and woman are injured and loose their lives
McCain is a war monger he said it could last 100 years he even vetoed a vote of education for returning warriors .
Just consider this these young people risk their lives for this country and he vetoes them receiving education after they return home .
These crooked coots what more damage can they do to this country before some people wake up .Already this country is so mired down with Buysh /Cheney debt will take many years to recover.

McCAIN BELIEVES WE SHOULD KEEP OUR TROOPS IN IRAQ 50 TO 100 YEARS, AFTER ALL WE HAVE HAD TROOPS IN GERMANY AND JAPAN FOR 60 YEARS.---BUT THERE'S A BIG DIFFERENCE IN IRAQ---THEY ARE CALLED TERRORISTS. WE NOW HAVE ABOUT 160,000 TROOPS IN IRAQ AND WE ARE UNABLE TO CONTROL A FEW THOUSAND TERRORISTS. IF WE SHOULD LEAVE IRAQ AND LEAVE A FEW THOUSAND OF OUR TROOPS----THEY WOULD BE DEAD DUCKS.

As a leader to embrace Ahmadinejad? As a leader to "negotiate" with Ahmadinejad? As a leader to encourage the departure of our troops? As a leader who disregards what our troops had accomplished?

Mr. McCain, I really wish you can think about your stands on Iraq and our foreign policy. If you align yourself with Bush's policy, our country will become extremely isolated. I don't think that will improve the national security of this great country.

Think again and think hard!

Mitt said McCain would be a great leader is not what Mitt said during the primaries. For example, on the subject of immigration that would affect millions of lives, Romney said no, no, no! Isn't it amazing how politics stays the same but rhetoric changes ?????

Yes, for behaving like a leader who's ready to stab you in the back. Just today he was kissing Ahmadinejad for God sake. Iran has total control on Iraq, and if not for the Iranians agreeing to cool it down in Iraq in exchange for certain concessions, McCain would have been seeing flashbacks from Vietnam. Iraq has been sold. Yeah, so much for diplomacy.

It's really sad the people in the blogs rob themselves of credibility by useless name-calling.

It's hard to have intelligent, meaningful discussion with anyone who arbitrarily insults a candidate just because they don't agree with them.

Yes, we all know how easy it is to attach an insult to McCain's last name. We also know how easy it is to change Obama's name to Osama, but you don't see any here doing that.

You people who arbitrarily insult McCain do so at the expense of the unity that Obama espouses. Each time I hear McCain's name changed to be an insult causes me to lose more respect for those who support Obama and increases the divisiveness prevalent in our society.

SO STOP IT ALREADY!

Interesting choice of words. "Surprised."

Iraqi leaders and military really need to stand up on their own. Do they read some hand writing on the wall? Writing that suggests that the Bush crutch is about to dissolve? That they need to get busy actually getting something done before the US pulls out?

And McCain is "surprised" by these actions taken by Iraqi leaders. amazing what can happen when a kid knows the training wheels are coming off in the near future. They suddenly learn how to ride.

Jeez, Democrats can't let go of the 100-years comment despite the fact it's been misquoted and twisted so many times that few people remember what was really said. Maybe that's the purpose.

Well, if that's all they got, then McCain should be in good shape once the policy debates heat up. Obama's liberal stance should come out and everyone will realize that the only unity will come from someone who is moderate and capable of raising support on the important issues across the isle.

And to those people that attach insults to McCain's name? (ie McInsane, McWorthless, McLoser, etc.) Can't you do better than that? If you have to prop up your arguments by worthless name-calling, then apparently your arguments aren't strong enough to stand on their own.

THIS IS GREAT!!!!!!!!

Why doesn't he just do this in front of a "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED" Banner then! Or a green screen, we can crop in the banner for him.

What honor is there in winning a war that never should have been fought? If we want to load up on honor, I think Canada or maybe Australia should be our next stops.

Dear Senator McCain,
You constantly speak about our soldiers returning victorious. Victory, you say, is defined by the stability and self-sustainability of the Iraqi government. Does it ever occur to you that this "victory" is costing American people their jobs, their homes, their livelihood, is costing this country its own economic stability, is costing American children their right to good education. Does it ever occur to you that progress of a nation is made by investing resources for fundamental needs of its citizens, and not that of a country far away and foreign. Do you realize that American people can no longer afford to spend 44cents of every dollar of their tax to go into this war? HOW CAN SUCCESS IN WAR BE YOUR ONLY MEASURE OF PROGRESS???

The irony here is that McCain is referencing Iraqi leaders' statement that they want to see a reduction in US troop levels to avoid "colonization" of Iraq. Somehow he uses this as an argument AGAINST troop reductions. While McCain salutes their "leadership", he is arrogantly (but not surprisingly) ignoring their wishes - and therefore implicitly their claim to leadership of/ownership over their own country. Sounds like Bush.

Even if McCain's statements about 100 years in Iraq is about maintaining a millitary presence there with bases and troops, how is that helping the U.S.? How can he justify the time, effort, money, and lives? Our military needs to be defending us here at home.

You call that conservatism McCain? I don't.

What exactly is the victory? What was the original goal in going there. They were suppose to have WMD but now we know that was a lie from the beginning. So if that is why we went, why can't we get out now. What creates a victory? More soldiers need to die, we need to borrow more money from China to support this war? The USA needs to go bankrupt, will that be our victory. How is this victory to be determined, would someone please answer that question. I think the victory would only happen when McCain says "WE WON!", and that would only be because of the fact he is saying the words.
We aren't fighting for an American cause so how can we have a victory? Iraq is not who was a terrorist threat to us on 9/11 so why are we fighting their civil war, don't we have our own gas and economy war here in the US to fight for first.

I just can't bring myself to vote for McCain.

I'm a conservative, and I've always voted Republican - but McCain is not a true conservative.

I'm voting for the best person for the job -Bob Barr.

The Republican party has made a mess of things in Washington, it's time to send a real conservative there.

Vote Barr in '08!
