Watch Ron Paul's interview Thursday.
(CNN)— Rep. Ron Paul had some words of praise for recently declared Libertarian presidential nominee Bob Barr Thursday, calling him a ‘very positive’ influence on the presidential race.
Paul, who never officially ended his own Republican presidential bid, told American Morning Anchor John Roberts, “[Barr] talks our language, so I do really believe that he can have a very positive effect in this campaign and let the people know that limited government is a very, very important message.”
Echoing the principals he based his own presidential run on, the Texas congressman said Americans’ voices will be heard with Barr, and he “gives everybody a choice in the matter.”
Barr, who was a former four-term Republican congressman from Georgia, left the GOP to join the Libertarian Party in 2006 and officially won the its presidential nomination late last month.
Asked of speculation surrounding the creation of his own convention in September, Paul said he and his supporters won’t be there to cause problems for the Republican Party.
“We’re not going to disrupt them,” he said. “We’re not going to demonstrate as much as present a positive case for values that we believe should be the Republican values.”
Paul, who has made it clear in past interviews he will not support John McCain because of their differing views, said again Thursday he disagrees with the Arizona senator on foreign policy and economic relief.
“I would say [McCain] does not represent limited government values, and the republicans deserve to hear the other side of the story.”
Programming Note: Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul will be in “The Situation Room” Friday. What would you like to ask him? Put your question on video and you could be featured on CNN.
Both candidates are puppets of their party. I do not trust Bob Barr at all either. The only thing that is gonna change in the next 4 years is that americans will become more and more dependent on the government to live their lives while at the same time losing more and more civil liberties. This country is on the verge of fascism. And is run by corporatocracy. I recommend reading the book Confessions of an Economic Hitman by John Perkins. Very insightful look at the US and its policies in regard to other nations and the reason we are so hated today.
I know this is really silly, but I can't take Barr seriously after seeing him on the Ali G show. One of Cohen's characters (the one that interviews political people) offered Barr a piece of cheese, and after it was already in his mouth told him that it was made from the breast of a woman, I believe he said his own mother. The look on Barr's face and watching him swallow was priceless!
This republican is voting independent this year.

Libertarianism doesn't work in a society of more than 100 people? Really?
So, just by virtue of living around more than 100 people, the ideas of personal responsibility, minimal government interference in our lives, low government spending coupled with low taxes (which means more money WE can spend how each of us as individuals decide), and holding firm to the principles of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights are not relevant? Really?
Maybe its the fact that you are a socialist and YOU need the government and people like me to pay for you, all because you are too lazy to get up and do it yourself. Get that job at McDonald's and quit crying about having your unemployment benefits extended.
Say YES to America, Say NO to SOCIALISM.
Ron Paul is the Dennis Kucinich of the Republican party.
Both are rediculous... both are irrelevant.
Why is anything either one of them says considered "news"?
i'm a democrat always voted democrat but i love ron paul!!this guy isn't afraid to tell the truth, stick his neck out, and speak his mind.the ideas and values that he throws ouyt there are real solutions to real problems..if i was a republican who refused to vote for obama (maccain's might as well be a democrat, wolf in sheeps clothing) i'd throw my vote to barr, just for ron paul..
i sure hope that hillary's clan doesnt defect to Barr!!*wink*
According to CNN, Iraq war could cost taxpayers $2.7 trillion..
And McCain supports the war...
He says how long the troops stay there don't matter..
It's the casualities that do...
Whatever that means...he sounds confused...
If they troops continue to stay there, THERE WILL BE CASUALITIES.
Doesn't take a rocket science to figure that one out...
And this is the man people would rather vote for because he has EXPERIENCE.
We all have to start from some where.
McCain needs some body work.. guy has severe brain damage.
He can join Hillary and get their heads checked.
They keep wining like babies.
OBAMA (2008 -16)
Bob Barr believes that immigrants bring in communicable diseases. What a phony Libertarian! They might as well run Lou Dobbs.
"We’re not going to demonstrate as much as present a positive case for values that we believe should be the Republican values.”
BS, raise hell boys!
As a republican, I will write in Dr. Paul or vote for the libertarian party. To think what our country has made me sick. The apathy in the US citizen is a disgrace to our founding fathers. Try this...Liberals want to what ever they want and be free llike the trees and conservatives want to be able to do what they want and not have someone tell them how to live. Don't these ideas seem the same. How about eveyone gets individual liberty as long it doesn't infringe upon someone else.
What is it going to take to realize that the republicans and democrats are driving this country towards fascism? When will we all wake up and realize that they are in colusion with each other to hold the power within the 2 party system? George Washington once said that the rise of the 2 party system will be the death of America.
Check out Hacking Democracy..rather informative
Finally, CAN WE JUST GET PAPER BALLOTS AND NOT USE THE COMPUTERS WHICH ARE PRONE TO HACKING AND MANIPULATION!
Why are you all talking about so many other names.....
the election is just between McCain and Obama. Take a look at their policies and vote accordingly. They are not so individualistic to ignore the plans of their respective parties. Both will tow the party line for the most part.
