Alice said that Libertarians believe in almost no government. I don't think thats right. I would say Libertarians believe in a weaker federal government and more clout in the hands of state and local government. The main thing that Libertarians think is that the government shouldn't do is make choices for adults who should make decisions for themselves. Its weird, but as a Christian, I would never encourage someone to have an abortion, but I don't think the government should tell them they can't. It all goes back to personal responsibility.

The conservative movement has gone to hell in a handbasket by Bush/Cheney/Rove courting poor evangilicals who do not understand true fiscal conservative principles.

The disappointing thing about conservative movements in this country is that too often the values are cherry picked without regard for context, i.e. the borderline moronic economic policy of Ron Paul and the libertarian party's completely ignoring that their core values were workable historically a hundred years ago, but were set a side in the interest of defending the people from the monopolies; or the undercurrent of present day bigotry that historically very nearly performed genocide on the Native Americans.
True conservatives should be about values as a total package not some half-baked nostalgia for Hollywood presentations of past eras.
For instance, "all men are created equally…" or "judge not lest yee be judged…" or "government of the people, by the people, and for the people…" in a time when to be greedy was to be amoral.
Too many people are conservative as if they don't have to read a book. Such local, or shallow, conservativeness, is what produces the likes of Al Qaeda and Dick Cheney (not that Dick doesn't read, but that he does not read well, or too broadly; his manipulation of the intelligence vetting process shows his disregard for truth, context, or conflicting realities that broad reading produces).

I can't vote republican until real republicans take over from the idiotic neocon view that the US should dominate the world.

Isn't this the same guy who did a completely unbelievable job of explaining away the anti-semitic and xenophobic remarks in his old newsletter? I don't know why the media still gives him air time.

You must try to understand that civil rights must and cannot ever trump individual rights. The Constitution provides for rights of all individuals, NOT GROUPS. Neither racial, ethnic, marital, sexual orientation, nor any other group rights need be, nor should be legislated apart from the Constitution. When this happens, it ALWAYS steps on the rights of others.

War on Drugs: This is a lose-lose war. Just as with prohibition, it creates crime and profit for drug lords and all their minions. It is another endless war that can never be won–just as DC designed it to be. It places the poor and black in particular at the disadvantage of being jailed for ridiculous lengths of time and does not ever advance the War on Drugs. You have only to look around you and at some statistics to see that since the War on Drugs, the problem has grown immensely. It is much larger now than before the War on Drugs.

Hillarycare is all about taxing and even "garnishing wages", as she has said. It is health care by FORCE, which the government has no right to do. The less government has to do with anything in our lives the better off we all will be. They destroy, abuse, and waste. This is simply another power play to keep government growing ever larger and it will be a disaster, just like all the other programs the government instigates. They do this to grow their power; they do not do it for you and me.

It does not matter which candidate-either Republican McCain or Democrat Obama wins, we will still have a mess in this country. They are both about power. Any third party candidate would better serve all Americans interests except the Green Party.

Please do some research and think this through instead of following the rest of the sheep.

Dr. Paul would NEVER advocate racial slurs. His philosophy would not allow it. His integrity would not allow it.

But I agree with you: wouldn't it be nice if the average person were better-educated? Wouldn't it be nice if we could take that money of the war and put it into domestic projects like education? This is one reason I think we must elect Barack Obama.

I am very interested in listening to Ron Paul speak at the republican convention. It would be wonderful if he actually to the nomination away from McCain.

If Ron Paul is the nominee I will be voting for him. If he does not end up on the ballot, I will vote for the Libertatian candidate because I am tired of the Republican Democrat back and forth politics as usual mentality.

I urge those of you not happy with your parties candidate choice to look at Ron Paul as well as the Libertarian Party.

Too bad neither the Green Party nor Libertarian party seem to have enough support or solid candidates to make a difference. Maybe they should start on the local levels.
