Why are you all talking about so many other names.....
the election is just between McCain and Obama. Take a look at their policies and vote accordingly. They are not so individualistic to ignore the plans of their respective parties. Both will tow the party line for the most part.

As a republican, I will write in Dr. Paul or vote for the libertarian party. To think what our country has made me sick. The apathy in the US citizen is a disgrace to our founding fathers. Try this...Liberals want to what ever they want and be free llike the trees and conservatives want to be able to do what they want and not have someone tell them how to live. Don't these ideas seem the same. How about eveyone gets individual liberty as long it doesn't infringe upon someone else.

What is it going to take to realize that the republicans and democrats are driving this country towards fascism? When will we all wake up and realize that they are in colusion with each other to hold the power within the 2 party system? George Washington once said that the rise of the 2 party system will be the death of America.
Check out Hacking Democracy..rather informative

Finally, CAN WE JUST GET PAPER BALLOTS AND NOT USE THE COMPUTERS WHICH ARE PRONE TO HACKING AND MANIPULATION!

According to CNN, Iraq war could cost taxpayers $2.7 trillion..

And McCain supports the war...

He says how long the troops stay there don't matter..

It's the casualities that do...

Whatever that means...he sounds confused...

If they troops continue to stay there, THERE WILL BE CASUALITIES.

Doesn't take a rocket science to figure that one out...

And this is the man people would rather vote for because he has EXPERIENCE.

Wow.

We all have to start from some where.

Ron Paul is the Dennis Kucinich of the Republican party.

Both are rediculous... both are irrelevant.

Why is anything either one of them says considered "news"?

Darth Vadik from CA-

Libertarianism doesn't work in a society of more than 100 people? Really?

So, just by virtue of living around more than 100 people, the ideas of personal responsibility, minimal government interference in our lives, low government spending coupled with low taxes (which means more money WE can spend how each of us as individuals decide), and holding firm to the principles of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights are not relevant? Really?

Maybe its the fact that you are a socialist and YOU need the government and people like me to pay for you, all because you are too lazy to get up and do it yourself. Get that job at McDonald's and quit crying about having your unemployment benefits extended.

Say YES to America, Say NO to SOCIALISM.

I know this is really silly, but I can't take Barr seriously after seeing him on the Ali G show. One of Cohen's characters (the one that interviews political people) offered Barr a piece of cheese, and after it was already in his mouth told him that it was made from the breast of a woman, I believe he said his own mother. The look on Barr's face and watching him swallow was priceless!

Both candidates are puppets of their party. I do not trust Bob Barr at all either. The only thing that is gonna change in the next 4 years is that americans will become more and more dependent on the government to live their lives while at the same time losing more and more civil liberties. This country is on the verge of fascism. And is run by corporatocracy. I recommend reading the book Confessions of an Economic Hitman by John Perkins. Very insightful look at the US and its policies in regard to other nations and the reason we are so hated today.

Perhaps but it will never happen!

Obama=Bush No more extremes! Extreme right-wing to extreme left-wing is not change America can believe in.

It is early! The economy will improve, and Iraq will continue to improve. Troops will begin to come home without a Democratic president!

Barack doesn't know much about anything, and his judgment is not credible.

Expensive suits and liberal universities do not make the man.

Vote for the American hero, a centrist in touch with mainstream America! :)

To Bayou Joe:

When you said:

That made you sound ignorant.

I'm tired of voting for the lesser of two evils. I'm a true conservative and voting for Barr this November. Maybe some pain with Obama at the helm will help this nation in the long run. Jimmy Carter gave us Ronald Reagan, maybe another loss will wake that fool of a Republican Party up and get back to that they are supposed to be.

Dave
I do get fed up up with multi millionaires like Ed McMahon crying about how he can't pay for his 5 million dollar home. Maybe he and others should have thought of the consequences of taking out second and third mortgages to pay for Mercedes and swimming pools instead of paying for their homes. I will acknowledge that some people did get hosed by some shady lenders, but they should have read the terms of their loan too.

Alice said that Libertarians believe in almost no government. I don't think thats right. I would say Libertarians believe in a weaker federal government and more clout in the hands of state and local government. The main thing that Libertarians think is that the government shouldn't do is make choices for adults who should make decisions for themselves. Its weird, but as a Christian, I would never encourage someone to have an abortion, but I don't think the government should tell them they can't. It all goes back to personal responsibility.

Imagine him as president . . . he'd have hundreds of people spying on Bill Clinton, writing reports on Bill Clinton, obsessing on Bill Clinton, while our economy spun down the drain. Barr can't let it go that Bill Clinton had sex in the White House; he'd never do such a thing, even in the bedrooms!
I'd like a Libertarian president; he'd repeal ALL gun laws and ALL drug laws, and as many age limits as possible. That cool with y'all? Yeah, it would suit me, but maybe not be best for my country?

I actually care what happens to this country; it isn't just 'who has the meanest soundbite' although that's kinda fun too.

RON PAUL IS NOT A TRUE REPUBLICAN AND BOB BARR IS A KOOK!!!

The conservative movement has gone to hell in a handbasket by Bush/Cheney/Rove courting poor evangilicals who do not understand true fiscal conservative principles.

See the excellent posting below by Neal Klomp! Neal gets it!!!

Neal Klomp

The disappointing thing about conservative movements in this country is that too often the values are cherry picked without regard for context, i.e. the borderline moronic economic policy of Ron Paul and the libertarian party's completely ignoring that their core values were workable historically a hundred years ago, but were set a side in the interest of defending the people from the monopolies; or the undercurrent of present day bigotry that historically very nearly performed genocide on the Native Americans.
True conservatives should be about values as a total package not some half-baked nostalgia for Hollywood presentations of past eras.
For instance, "all men are created equally…" or "judge not lest yee be judged…" or "government of the people, by the people, and for the people…" in a time when to be greedy was to be amoral.
Too many people are conservative as if they don't have to read a book. Such local, or shallow, conservativeness, is what produces the likes of Al Qaeda and Dick Cheney (not that Dick doesn't read, but that he does not read well, or too broadly; his manipulation of the intelligence vetting process shows his disregard for truth, context, or conflicting realities that broad reading produces).

Ron's supporters are the best. If Ron asks them to support Barr, they will be a huge boost Barr's organization.

I can't vote republican until real republicans take over from the idiotic neocon view that the US should dominate the world.

I was wondering where the crazies in US politics went to.... then Ron Paul popped back up.

Isn't this the same guy who did a completely unbelievable job of explaining away the anti-semitic and xenophobic remarks in his old newsletter? I don't know why the media still gives him air time.
Rather than pander to his kookiness, some journalists should raise their antennas a little higher and ask him some tough questions for a change.

B. Churchill June 12th, 2008 10:56 am ET said:

"Bob Barr spent his life fighting civil rights and the "War on Drugs". Ron Paul's early writings - there are reams of them - are full of racist and homophobic rants - (about the coming race wars and such). Barr wants a smaller government now because it was the government that enforced desegregation, and now he says the "War on Drugs" was wrong. Paul now claims someone else - he has "no idea" who - wrote the papers that bear his name. Do your homework, folks…"

B.,

You must try to understand that civil rights must and cannot ever trump individual rights. The Constitution provides for rights of all individuals, NOT GROUPS. Neither racial, ethnic, marital, sexual orientation, nor any other group rights need be, nor should be legislated apart from the Constitution. When this happens, it ALWAYS steps on the rights of others.

War on Drugs: This is a lose-lose war. Just as with prohibition, it creates crime and profit for drug lords and all their minions. It is another endless war that can never be won--just as DC designed it to be. It places the poor and black in particular at the disadvantage of being jailed for ridiculous lengths of time and does not ever advance the War on Drugs. You have only to look around you and at some statistics to see that since the War on Drugs, the problem has grown immensely. It is much larger now than before the War on Drugs.

Hillarycare is all about taxing and even "garnishing wages", as she has said. It is health care by FORCE, which the government has no right to do. The less government has to do with anything in our lives the better off we all will be. They destroy, abuse, and waste. This is simply another power play to keep government growing ever larger and it will be a disaster, just like all the other programs the government instigates. They do this to grow their power; they do not do it for you and me.

It does not matter which candidate-either Republican McCain or Democrat Obama wins, we will still have a mess in this country. They are both about power. Any third party candidate would better serve all Americans interests except the Green Party.

Please do some research and think this through instead of following the rest of the sheep.

Dr. Paul would NEVER advocate racial slurs. His philosophy would not allow it. His integrity would not allow it.

Libertarians are their own ideology. They believe in virtually NO government except for national defense, which own might call "ultra- conservative" (although modern conservatism has taken on a very different attitude.)

Disaffected Repubs often gravitate to them, viewing them as some sort of compromise, sort of the way the Dems went for Nader in 2000.

Go Barr! Get those disaffected Repubs out of McCain's column in 2008!

Any candidate willing and able to get us out of the war has my vote. McCain is not the one. Way too excited to watch these soldiers relive his youth, frightening, frightening man who no doubt has issues outside of running for president that need to be dealt with.
Go Obama.

To Joseph Durbin who suggested that we should have a referendum for every major issue. The reason that wouldn't work, particularly in America, is that most people do not have time to research, nor the education and training to analyze, each issue. This is why we elect such well-educated politicians like Hillary Clinton, John McCain, or Barack Obama-- people who are to make decisions that have to stand the test of time. For example, years after calling the Iraq a disaster-waiting-to-happen, only now is Barack reaping the rewards of his correct analysis.

But I agree with you: wouldn't it be nice if the average person were better-educated? Wouldn't it be nice if we could take that money of the war and put it into domestic projects like education? This is one reason I think we must elect Barack Obama.

Ron Paul is senile lunatic with no ties to the Republican party. He and Barr are Libertarians, that makes them closer to Obama in ideology. Left wing ideologues do not win elections in the United States. Never have never will. Americans are smarter than what we give them credit for.

Barr and Paul should more than offset the Nader effect on the Democrat side. I hope they rob lots of the neo-con votes from McCain.

@ Martin: Kucinich has already proposed Bush's impeachment. Too bad it's merely a gesture that won't really go anywhere.

I went to Europe with only $500 to find a job. It's clear that America is starting to become a third world country and I'm preparing in advance.

Barack Obama or Senator Mccain are not qualifed to lead this country out of a recession. I wish you all the best, good luck in the future with one of these two idiots running this country.

Do you believe that Obama or McCain support the Bill of Rights (U..S.
Constitution).? What I have seen they spin the subject, unlike Ron
Paul, who is a man of principle that support the Constitution.

A vote for McCain is a vote for McCain.

A vote for Obama is a vote for Obama.

A vote for Nader is a vote for Nader.

A vote for Barr is a vote for Barr.

I am very interested in listening to Ron Paul speak at the republican convention. It would be wonderful if he actually to the nomination away from McCain.

If Ron Paul is the nominee I will be voting for him. If he does not end up on the ballot, I will vote for the Libertatian candidate because I am tired of the Republican Democrat back and forth politics as usual mentality.

I urge those of you not happy with your parties candidate choice to look at Ron Paul as well as the Libertarian Party.

While I plan to support Barack Obama in the general election this fall I agree that we need a strong, viable third party. The only way to truly fight corruption and have real change in Washington is to be rid of Coke/Pepsi politics.

Too bad neither the Green Party nor Libertarian party seem to have enough support or solid candidates to make a difference. Maybe they should start on the local levels.
