Obama's last debate didn't spoon feed him so he's a bit gunshy on the tough questions.

Don't tell me the Dem blew it again–this one should have been easy–instead they put their money on all talk, no experience, and no stable plan.

Obama's idea of Civil Rights work in Chicago will sink his ship when you add on the flip flop on his Civil Rights Church mission.

Something stinks about the venue. If McBush is really serious about this town hall debate then why is he trying to select 0 venues which will have predominantly Republican audience? His claim is just a gimmick. While I support the town hall debate, I will think that the venues should be selected at random... So the audience who are going to ask the questions will not be more of one party than the other.

I'm glad Obama is doing it the way he wants to. McCain needs any exposure he can considering how underfunded his campaign is in addition to the total lack of enthusiasm he inspires among his followers. At any rate, McCain shrillness and inability to draw money, coverage and set an original agenda shows what a total dinosaur loser he is. How can anyone vote for a technically illiterate president in this day and age? I mean, if he can't even use a computer how would he get almost any job, much less the presidency. Enough said.

He just got the DNC to change how they do business by beginning to cut their ties to lobbyists and rejecting PAC money......also a large chunk of the DNC is moving to Obama's Chicago headquarters......Change is already happening

John McCain stands for Democracy. He will make an excellent President. He put his life on the line for his country, which is more than I can say for others who only say "just words? just words? Just words? Just words? Just words? Yeah, TALK...that's all I hear from the opponent. Just Talk! Talk Talk Talk and more Talk! Lets hope someone brings a radio transmitter jamming device to these debates in the event someone is using an ear receiver, much like a TV preacher did back in the day, to get miracle information regarding the people of Faith who came to see that preacher at large gatherings. These folks were misled in a very sad way. So, if some American Patriot brings such a device to a debate, it will insure that all is being played on an even playing field so to speak. John McCain does very well answering questions "off the cuff". McCain is an American Patriot, and I would feel safe on any battlefield, knowing this Great American was flying air support. McCain paid a very great price in the war against the reds. He could have been exchanged for the release of red prisoners soon after being shot down by those red devils, but he let other American P.O.W.s of lesser rank be exchanged first. This American Patriot put his life on the line for his fellow P.O.W.s & AMERICA. John McCain is an American Hero, got that! He is The Man, now and in November and when he is sworn in as our next President. McCain gave more to his country, than "just words"............!

Town hall meetings fine, I do not think he will come out looking like a shinning star. I think he will be dry and dull as usual. I just want to hear about the real issues. What about the high gas, heck everything is high. I am mad because every time I go to the market, I spend more and more. We can't even afford daycare. Talk about helping us from the ground up. McCain should consider taking the townhall challenges that Obama suggested. It is fair game. This old timer and his old timer Republican buddies bullies people but chicken out when being challenged back. Months ago when CNN held a debate with Obama and Clinton with CNN as moderators, old timer McCain decline the get together because he cannot handle any questions that has nothing to do with War. By the way, knowledge of foreign policy is more than war, it is about civil negotiations, not bullying, but civil negotiations that McCain doesn't have. McCain thinks that because he is so old that younger generations like Obama has to listen to him but NOT vice versa. Grow up McCain!

Why would anybody want to debate McCain. First and foremost he would need Lieberman there to be his interpreter. Maybe two heads are better than one. It would be one debate and after the beating he would receive he would be saying I did not commit to 10 only 1.

I keep seeing these kind of posts. Once again, before posting, do your homework. I have watched them via CNN Live Video. Now it seems that many of you are on here a LOT so one would think that you would catch these meetings too.

I have seen Barack conduct a couple of town hall style rallies. He is very confortable in this setting and very at ease. Actually, I like seeing him in this element more because he gets right down to the substance of the issues and talks to the people directly.

mccain had 4 months to tour the country making his case, i think obama should take at least 2 before he starts any town halls. it's a nice plan for mccain to push this early, blunting obamas travel. but obama must say no for 2 or 3 months. there are 2.5 months after the convention when 6 or 7 debates could be held. three old style debates and 3 or 4 town hall.
mccain's wantss them now when everyone is outside and won't hear how bad a debater he is, then he'll try to back out of the real debates in october.

You know in your heart McCain and his Barbie doll wife are not for the average citizen, yet you would rather cast your vote for him rather than Obama because you think he is different from the average American. He is for all Americans; not just the status-quo. BUT you still would rather vote for the old man, with old ideas and limited vision than someone like Obama. Obama has not called a race card. How dumb can you get! If Mccain wins (which is doubtful) you will be screaming and whining because you got screwed again by the Bush Machine. The GE is not until November, can we space out the time and not rush these debates? Honestly, the GOP and McCain are just trying to make Barack look bad but all they keep doing is making themselves look bad. They have been coming after Barack for two months now and so far thier tactics are not working.

I say, let them keep it up. The more they do this the more Barack benefits. In the end, it will be a landslide because they will push the majority of their party, the independents, conservatives, etc. right into the arms of the Dems.

Last I checked Obama's nominee status is less than 2 weeks ago. McCain has than over 3 months to plan and prepare for his town hall. Give Obama a minute to plan HIS campaign and than he will meet you. You want him to go to Iraq, town halls of your choosing…anything else? I thought it was his campaign to run and not yours McCain. Run and talk about your issues and let him do his.

Also, I have never seen a man so anxious to be put to shame!

McCain did a very good job at the town hall meeting yesterday, with his responses having much practical substance. I was impressed.

I think Obama didn't participate because he avoids events where he has to do impromptu speaking......he really doesn't have much to say unless a teleprompter is spooon-feeding his words to him. Even then, he has nothing substantive to say.....just lots of flash and fancy rhetoric. Makes me look forward to the debates that will have to come in the future. He sure didn't look or sound very good when pitted against Hillary.

I supported Hillary but now, as a centrist/moderate Democrat, my vote will to go McCain in November. Not only because of the really raw deal Hillary got from the MSM and DNC, but because McCain is by far the better qualified candidate.
