Seriously, YOU WILL be paying $4 bucks for a long time... in fact, we'll be lucky to get back to that number in the next 2 years...

gas will only go down if....

1) you strip all profits from gasoline per gallon... that's about 10 cents for the oil companies, 19 cents for the government, and 40 cents on average for the states....

2) decrease supply, increase demand, or both... we pay about 65% of the price of gas is directly related to buying it overseas...

STOP BUYING IT AT $140 a barrel and you get cheap gas...

I have a MAJOR problem with people like you that spew out hate like it's a 2 for 1 sale.... all you do is criticize one side and act like the one you are on is righteous...

BULL..... both sides are right and wrong on several issues, but energy is something WE MUST work together.... we must stop regulations on nuclear, coal, and oil... we must invest more in solar, wind, coal to oil, geothermal...

John McCain automatically states that the cause of lowering corporate taxes in Ireland created their boom. But Ireland has allowed anyone who wants to go to college to do so for several years. The cause may have much more to do with a highly educated work force which has been bringing tens of thousands of new high-tech jobs and economic opportunities to the Emerald Isle. India and China have done the same. Where are so many US jobs being offshored to? Coincidence?

I find it hard to believe that big breaks for a few businesses trumps thousands upon thousands of well trained workers who also navigate their way ever more successfully through their job markets.

The question is, if Ireland continues lowering their corporate taxes will they be able to continue this high end education program?

The mistake is not giving rich people a tax break, the problem was not adjusting the rate. You can't keep something at a high level and expect things to balance out. When things get out of balance, you have to make adjustments. This Administrative did nothng when they saw things getting out of control. Incidentally, giving rich people tax breaks does not necessarily generate jobs in the economy. Individual tax breaks and business tax breaks are a different breed.

I agree with Obamas $250,000 threshold. I am sort of in the middle on corporate taxes. I am for cutting taxes for those companies who keep jobs here, who don't polute the enviroment etc. and not cutting taxes or penalizing those that do.........obviously, it would be more complicated than that, but thats the gist of it.

This pretty incredible– after all this time to get things sorted out in their minds, the clintonites still don't have a clue. Truly remarkable how checked out this demo is. Talk about Kool-Aiders, these guys got played by Hillary and her strategists like a violin. And this idea of "getting back" by voting for McCain? Emotional, knee-jerk responses are supposed to last a few hours or days, not weeks and weeks. Experience? Clinton? Number 34 in seniority among Senate Democrats? Clinton doesn't even have enough clout to do anything significant in the Senate. She's finished. For good. Over. Done. Anything she accomplishes moving forward will be due to the kindness and graciousness of Mr. Obama and his administration. Maybe Chelsea will have better luck in 2016.

Off shore drilling, it will take 10 plus years to see benefits, a commitment to alternate and clean sources of energy could easily allow for a far greater impact then off shore will allow.

McCain, you have backtracked on anything that seperated you from the present gong show of a government.

Taxes: I like Huckabee's plan. End all income tax and go to a combination of federal sales tax and increased inheritance tax.
This will sweep up people who are not paying taxes, including illegal aliens working for cash, tradesmen working for cash and barter, and the offshore fakers who pretend to be from the British islands.

Want a REAL solution that fast and is REALLY a break with Bush?
Only allow cars on the road that are below 30 MPG on even and odd days by their license plate first number. All vanity plates with words are odd number.
Put all trucks that are below 20 MPG on even and odd days.
Stop allowing the sale of SUVs that get less than 20 MPG!!

A CNNmoney headline from Feb. said Exxon made $1300 a SECOND in 2007, when oil was a paltry $65/ barrel- they made over $40 Billion in '07. The price per barrel has since doubled. By very simple math, they'd stand to go over $100 Billion this year while raking in more money per second than most people make in a week.

They also gave their former CEO a $400 million dollar retirement package. That's right almost a half a billion bucks to never work again.

And McCain wants to give THEM a break? Look up the donations by pacs this cycle. Oil companies own the republicans.

This is why so many people are against Obama.... he makes it seem this way...

1) I (Obama) lived the American dream

2) It's almost impossible now

3) I blame rich people (even though he is a millionaire in his own right

4) Let's tax the rich and give free handouts to anyone that is not rich

5) Let's tax companies (not just oil) who seem to be making too much money. Those taxes will pay back those that spent too much at their business.

Apparently, it's cool in America to get a handout, which is a big slap in the face to the heartland of America IMO.

There should be a mix of progressive and regressive taxes. Taxes on gasoline is a great example of a regressive tax (virtually, any flat tax can be deemed as regressive).
