WASHINGTON (CNN) — In addition to meeting with the Congressional Black Caucus Thursday, Obama is also planning to meet with female members of Congress at the Democratic National Committee, according to several congressional sources.

One Democratic aide described the lunchtime meeting with the legislators as a follow-up to one Obama had last week with 28 female members of Congress — roughly half Clinton supporters and half Obama supporters — at Rep. Rosa DeLauro’s home. The aide said the Obama campaign is organizing Thursday's meeting and it’s open to “any female Member of Congress who wants to attend.”

To those women voters who were Hillary supporters and now saying that "No Hillary, NoBama, Hi MaBush",

If you just do that out of frustration, what will you gain? You may get a split second of satisfaction, but you will regret about it rest of your life (if and only if you are a decent human being). Does McBush ever care about women's issues? Honestly, who would be a better candidate for women's issues? Think about it hard. If you still think McBush is better than Obama, then you're not a true Hillary supporter. Otherwise, you're a plain stupid or maybe just a plain racist. If you are one of them, I respect that only if you could admit that you're a stupid or a racist. Otherwise, you're a stupid racist coward!

cindy sls from pa   June 18th, 2008 8:29 pm ET

wow! I'm so tired of people saying that they are not going to vote for obama because theyre mad hillary didnt win! Or how about the people out there saying that there candidate hillary lost so theyre going for mccain! Hillary and obama are not the same but hillary and mccain are certainly a heck of a lot farther a part. And as for obama is inexperienced and has bad judgement, last time I checked nothing…no matter how many years compares to the job of being a president…the only way to have experience in the field of being a president which is quite different from other jobs is to be a president. On the grounds of bad judgment, I haven't seen any yet, I have seen a lot of good in how he has run his campaign and the choices I've read about that he's made in his life though. Mccain on the other hand has went with judgments that I do not agree with as a democrat, a person, and a christian. I follow the media and pick out what I want to believe, meaning I don't care if you call Mccain Mcbush or Obama a radical, because some things are obviously not true. But it makes me mad when others get carried away with this stuff or other silly matter when really we should be looking out for the well-being of our future America. My only request is to make a logical educated decision. Make sure what you choose to believe is true. And don't vote on emotion. Because you might not have those same emotions years from now…but facts will always be facts. Democrats need to stick together…we always have…were similar….we believe in similar beliefs…. and republicans dont….thats why there republicans….

Get Real   June 18th, 2008 8:28 pm ET

Don't you think its funny that Obama is still painted as Rookie lacking experience while he has shown nothing but exemplary courage and wisdom in conducting this landmark campaign so far. Just to name a few, facing the race issue head on, refusing to accept money from lobbyists, deciding to run a clean campaign free of dirty tricks, deciding not to pander by avoiding short term populist measures like gas tax holiday, deciding to open dialog with adversaries, opposing the Iraq war from day 1, trying to unite a country divided by race, religion and hatred. These are just a few examples why I support Obama. I am sure you can find your own reasons if you care to look.

While you Obama haters here talking smack, Obama is getting a game plan together that's going to blow you skeptics right out of the water. The Dem learned from Dukakis, Modale and Kerry's mistake, not responding to attacks until it was too late. Obama is going to take it to the enemy. He's getting all factions of the DEM party on the same page with the same agenda, that's stomping the s–t out of the GOP in the general election. "Yes We Can".

So… while you cry that your candidate has been disrespected… you condone doing the one thing she would consider a true slap in the face.. and that's helping McCain win. Go VIG! Show your support by slapping Hillary in the face and telling her that her opinions, dreams, and desires mean nothing to you!

If every woman senator and congresswoman came forward and told me to vote for Sen. Obama, I would not. His numerous criminal and terrorist supporting associates and his pitiful lack of experience render him wholly unsuited to be POTUS. That the DNC promoted him over the much more experienced Clinton, and even awarded him some of her delegates is truly appalling. I am now a registered Independent and I will vote McCain in Nov.

I agree with John, Catholic

Hillary kept campaigning and spent a ton of money which she didn't have, even when the math was overwhelmingly against her… she should have quit when Obama practically swept on super tuesday.

I'll also add that I'm tired of Hillary supporters.. like Xena, who's been posting quite a bit telling Hillary supporters not to give money to the Obama campaign. Xena.. you have nothing to worry about.. if Hillary supporters wouldn't even give Hillary donations… what makes you think they will make any donations to Obama.

These members of Congress should know that there are people who associate themselves with the Obama camp who use tactics that are so fundamentally undemocratic that they may as well be terrorists.

Then they threatened us.

Gene   June 18th, 2008 7:05 pm ET

I'm curious what people are talking about when they say that they don't know what Obama stands for and they know what McCain is all about because he has such a long record. When Obama speaks.. do people put their hands over their ears and hum?

Obama has been very clear on many of the issues. What does he stand for? Ending the war in Iraq and going back to Afghanistan. Investing in renewable energy. Subsidizing healthcare so more people can afford it. Getting the country out of debt by increasing manufacturing and export as opposed to importing more. And if you close your ears when he talks.. go to his website where he has everything outlined very detailed.

McCain on the other hand is changing his positions every week… and other than the war in Iraq.. he hasn't been clear and consistent on a single issue.. and he's been avoiding the economy issues altogether… with the exception of his latest flip flop on drilling for oil… which won't benefit anyone for years to come.. though I do agree that we should be drilling for our own oil.

Any woman that would vote for McCain is definitely unAWARE. If a woman wants to live under McCain's choices of what women are entitled to.. they might as well move to the middle east where women ARE considered second class citizens.

Any Clinton supporter who votes for Obama, as far as I'm concerned, is party to the degradation and demeaning treatment Clinton received and still receives by the media and Obama-Centrics. Obama said not one word when Clinton was being devalued and marginalized - why, because he was the beneficary of her trash and bash. There is an alternative - write in Hillary on the November ballot. It's that simple.

John, Catholic   June 18th, 2008 6:58 pm ET

Would someone be so kind as to tell me why Obama should pay off Clinton's campaign debt?

I realize that money is often what keeps dreams from becoming reality. To be president of the United States take money. If one does not have sufficient funding to campaign then one is not prepared to be president. There are many other qualification for president but we cannot deny that being able to afford running for the presidency is a qualification that must be met.

She caused her debt by campaigning when she could not afford it. She should have quit when she ran out of money. She chose not to therefore she should live up to the results of her decision. Is that not what accountability is about? Or are the American people to bail her out like we have bailed out Bear Sterns? I was not aware that the average American Citizen has so much money lying around as to bail out multimillion dollar companies and individuals.

Just as an essential requirement to run for president is the finances to run apparently an essential requirement to receive fiscal aid in this country is a net income of $100 Million or more.

Courting the female vote. Because, as we know, it doesn't matter what the average US citizen thinks. The real voters are already in government. They make the decisions. We don't.
I hope to God these ladies ask him questions like, "What is your stance on the current welfare system?" and "Can you outline 3 major strategies you plan to use to get our country out of debt/" and my favorite, "What church did you belong to before the one you spent 20 years in with Rev. Wright?"

YAM   June 18th, 2008 6:57 pm ET

I will say again you go right ahead in vote for McCain, but I will guarantee you this, you will jeopardize the future of you, your children and your grandchildren. Know this, McCain and Obama both are millionaires, you will not be hurting them but instead you, the middle class. Also, remember , this is a trick to get the Democrats to go Republicans. Most of them who says they are Democrats are Republicans trying to sway all of us to go to McCain. My concern is that those who continue to allow another 4 to 8 years of Bush-like Economics(McCain) is just simply clueless. You have no idea of what you will be getting yourselves into if you entertain the Republicans. They are extremely happy right now. The Republicans think that we are fools. I would like to say another thing, look where experience has gotten us thus far. Candidates continue to say how much experience they have but what has been done to make this a better country. There is definitely no unity here in the UNITED States. I believe that is what Obama will bring to the table, togetherness, wisdom and respect within our country as well as outside of this country. We tried everything else why not give him a chance, it certainly can not get any worse than it has been. Lastly, I bought the book from Scott McMellan titled, WHAT HAPPENED, Inside the Bush White House and Washington's Culture of Deception. I encourage anyone and everyone to read this book. Once you have done this, I guarantee you will think twice before you vote the wrong person(McCain) into office. The publisher is a reliable source so whatever is contained is true.

Gina, California   June 18th, 2008 6:55 pm ET

I'm a Republican. I don't like Bush. BUT, I don't agree with calling John McCain another George Bush. John McCain is John McCain, and George Bush is George Bush.

If you do that . . . then you might as well say that Barack Obama is another Bill Clinton or Hillary Clinton. And in that case, why the primaries?

There are two DIFFERENT individuals from their predecessors. Accept and respect that.

Some of you that post on these CNN blogs seem to be quite ignorant. If you don’t like CNN or what they list on THEIR website then why are you still coming to their site? In a political year such as this and when the world shows such interest for information and seems almost hungry for change CNN and all other News outlets do their jobs by providing the information.

I review news sites daily and when I don’t like the information I am reading I move onto something else. What cowards that you post without using your names and make statements like “No woman with any sense will vote for you (Obama)” Well I am a 42 year old woman that put myself thru college and earn a good living as an Accountant. I think that qualifies as having good sense, but perhaps like many of the primary polls reflected that the uneducated were not voting for Obama!

Obama has a pretty good track record of telling his audiences exactly what they want to hear. . . why does he think he needs to speak just to the women in Congress rather than speak to any member of Congress who is interested in attending? A very short while back Obama was 100% for NAFTA pledging publicly to invoke a 6-mo opt-out policy calling NAFTA "devastating and a big mistake". Now that Hillary is no longer in the picture, Obama has changed his mind and says "sometimes during campaigns the rhetoric gets overheated and amplified" and he has changed his opinion on what should be done regarding NAFTA. He even says "All politicians are guilty of that and I don't exempt myself."

Chris in Va.   June 18th, 2008 6:10 pm ET

Let's see, Obama inspires the nation with hope for a better tomorrow, and McCain can't find his car keys. You decide '08!

P.S. When Liberman stands behind McCain doing his ventriloquist routine have you ever wondered where he puts his hand to make McCain's lips move?

Schalaine Ellisor   June 18th, 2008 6:06 pm ET

This is a plea to Hillary Clinton supporters=Can you put aside your anger and logically look at what is best for this country? Do you honestly believe a vote for John McCain will do anything to advance your concerns? Are you aware of his position on abortion or a women's right to equal pay? As mothers, how could you vote for someone who would keep our troops in Iraq for an indefinate amount of time and then offer them nothing when they return home? He has flip-flopped on so many issues recently, I doubt if he is aware of where he stands. Please take the time and educate yourself about the man you are willing to cast a vote for. If you do that and still feel he is the best candidate, then by all means vote for him. Personally I can't see how, unless you give lots of points because he's a white man and Obama is a black man. I have a dream one day my children shall be judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin. For millions of people, that day has arrived. Are you one of those people?

I meant to write this on the previous post (about the Muslim women getting denied to stand behind Obama) but they don't have the comments enabled on that one.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is a setup by the repubs … send some women with scarfs to stand behind him just to affect the psychology of the public ….

Way to go Obama, they just need their ego's stroked.
Although it won't change anything. If they are going to vote for you, they are going to vote for you. If not they wont. Good of you to spend the time. But a rejected and unhappy woman is very devious and coniving, they have never asked other Presidential Candidates to do this. But thank you to allowing them to voice their concerns, but I really wouldn't trust them.

DC Missouri   June 18th, 2008 6:00 pm ET

This is what I like most about Obama — his willingness to listen to all points of view.

Jeannie, Sacramento, CA   June 18th, 2008 5:59 pm ET

Obama needs the female vote and I, for one, won't give it. There are 9 members of voting age in my family. We are not voting for Obama in November. We will stay home, sit back, and watch the black voters try to put him in the White House all by themselves. Let’s see how well they do without the Clinton bloc of 18 million voters.
McCain winning the White House will not affect my family or for that matter, a vast number of our friends. We are upper middle class, well-educated, have private medical insurance and private retirement plans from stable careers, we are not affected by Iraq, we don't need Roe v. Wade, we couldn't care a snit about the conservative Supreme Court, and we can afford gasoline. We’re willing to relax and wait till 2012 when we can unseat McCain through a candidate other than Senator Obama.

RV - Arizona   June 18th, 2008 5:57 pm ET

I can't believe there is still a bunch of Hillary cry babies out there. Get over it! She's not in the running anymore!

And if you vote for the Crip Keeper (McCain), become a republican and shut up!

Jessica M   June 18th, 2008 5:57 pm ET

Isn't it part of the Obama theme to include everyone in the conversation about the changes that need to occur in the nation. I think meeting with Congresswomen is another example of him talking the talk and walking the walk. As opposed to our current President that seems to think that working with congress and the word Veto are interchangable ideas.

When is the last time McCain had a meeting with a group of Congresswomen? How does the Straight Talk Express work when no one is willing to talk…or listen.

At the end of the day a President can't do much without Congress and Congress can't do much without the President. No matter who is in the White House they need to work with Congress. Just ask Nancy Pelosi or GWB how much they are getting accomplished "working" together.

The stalemate has to end!

Joyce in Florida   June 18th, 2008 5:55 pm ET

It also appears to me that Obama is pandering for Hillary Clinton supporters. He will do and say anything to get elected. No matter how he gets there whether it is respectful or not. As far as I have seen from his campaign, he lacks respect, dignity, and most of all EXPERIENCE. I still am pondering how I will vote this November. If Hillary is put on the ticket as V.P., he will get my vote. It will take me some time to get over his actions against Senator Clinton. I don't trust Senator Obama and I don't like his attitude against others who get in his way. I could go on and on but most of us know the true man that Obama is; elitist, arrogant, divisive, sexist and dishonest. STILL WANTING HILLARY CLINTON TO BE OUR NEXT PRESIDENT!!!!!!!!!!!!

bridgette   June 18th, 2008 5:51 pm ET

He has no more control of what his supporters say than any politician. So that is just silly to try to hold him accountable for that. He has never been disrespectful to any female person that I know of. Sometimes we supporters get caught in the heat of the moment and we say things that shouldn't be said. Myself included. I was once foolish enough too say if Obama didn't win then I would vote for McCain, and, I slapped myself as soon as I heard the words coming out of my mouth. It was just the heat of the moment.

This is fine as long as Whip does not attempt to push Bob Johnson's letter off on O, Bob's letter is just as full of bogus lies and misrepresentation as he is, he does not have a right to speak for us all rights have been lost when he first opened his mouth against O and his letter is totally against what we as AA want.

Bob Johnson sent a letter to Clyburn on the behalf of AA asking him to demand from Obama that he select Hillary as VP because the AA community has high reguards for the Clintons, well this might have been true at one time before they chose to disassoicated themselves from us misusing the relationship we once had. This relationship has be tarnished by them, so be it! Now the Clintons have become repulsive to most AAs.

Obama is amazing, he is the true uniter. He is meeting with all types of people, getting their input and listening to their concerns. He shows incredible judgment and wisdom. He's looking more and more presidential every day. John mcwar might too if he would stop bashing Obama but I guess he has too since he has no principles or issues to stand on and changes with the wind. I guess it would be embarassing to run as a republican.

Joyce in Florida   June 18th, 2008 5:45 pm ET

Will in Richmond, VA, are you in a dreamworld or what?!?! Yes, Obama ran a victorious campaign but it was not a pretty sight. Especially the way that Hillary Clinton was treated by Obama and his campaign staff. Were your eyes closed while all this was happening or did you think that Obama's arrogance, body language, and brush off of Senator Clinton was funny? NO IT WAS NOT NOR IS IT FUNNY!!!!!

TEXAN   June 18th, 2008 5:44 pm ET

Good for him ! He is showing these women that he will be the President for ALL Americans. Alot of these women felt that only Hillary could really understand and fight for them. Now they see that Obama cares and will be there for them too. Hopefully, this will end the notion that " women will not vote for Obama" Woman unite and vote for Obama !!

Aware from 4:58 CDT, all the women I know will vote for Senator Obama for the following reasons. Perhaps these don't mean anything to you and for that reason you'll vote for McCain?

McCain has a 0% pro-choice rating from NARAL and Planned Parenthood.
* He has vowed to appoint pro-life justices to the Supreme Court.
* McCain voted against reauthorizing the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) for five years.
* He voted against the restoration of the Fair Pay Act.
* McCain voted to suspend the Family and Medical Leave Act in 1993.
* He voted to shut down the Title X family-planning program, which provides millions of women with health care services ranging from birth control to breast cancer screenings.
*He promises to appoint judges like Alito, Scalia, Roberts and Thomas, all of whom are on record to overturn Roe v. Wade.
And just so you know, McCain did say in 2007, in South Carolina no less, that Roe should be overturned.

Oh yeah, he allegedly called his current wife (you know, the one he cheated with while his actual wife was recuperatinig from a disabling accident) a C… That c word rhymes with punt.

Hmm, interesting, excepct maybe you aren't a woman but really Clayton Williams in disguise?

For all those reasons, most intelligent women are going to vote for the guy who most respects them and respresents their goals.

Lastly, 16 women in the Senate. 11 are Dems. 5 are Reps. Do the math as to which party is the champion of woman's rights.

McCain=WOMEN BEWARE   June 18th, 2008 5:41 pm ET

Women do your homework on McCain.

Look at McCain's voting record the last 25 years on women's issues. He has voted against ALL women's issues such as healthcare, equal pay, etc.. He wants to take our rights and choices away.
Obama has voted FOR women.
McCain has no respect for women. He called his wife a trollop and c**t in public. He cheated on and ditched his first wife, after her terrible auto accident, for heiress Cindy. He's keeping the money from Clayton Williams. It goes on and on with McCain. He's a male chauvinist pig.

Response to Lynn   June 18th, 2008 5:37 pm ET

Lynn, it's so called democrats like you that are trying to keep the party divided. Hillary didn't get the nomination, try and come to terms with that. If you feel you don't want or need to support the Dem party then stop trying to keep others from doing so!!!

IT'S ABOUT UNITY NOW NOT A SPECIFIC INDIVIDUAL!!!!

Georg   June 18th, 2008 5:36 pm ET

David, Silver Spring, MD   June 18th, 2008 5:33 pm ET

I hope that women and all minorities will realize that an Obama victory will open the door of opportunity for them all.

If McCain wins, we'll have yet another white male in the White House and will only be able to talk about how close we came to seeing that streak ended.

If Obama wins, the string will be broken, and in 2012 we won't even be making a big deal about a woman running for the office.

Women's rights were not an issue during the primary because dems are on the same page, especially with equal pay and PRO CHOICE. Now that we've moved on to the general election, we are fighting against the republicans who share the opposite view…PRO LIFE. I know its hard but try to move on to the general election. The primary is over. That's why democratic women are on TV talking about womens rights. Also, please explain how Claire McCaskell is two-faced? Stop spewing hate that has no merit.

Please   June 18th, 2008 5:27 pm ET

James, SC   June 18th, 2008 5:24 pm ET

So many people are soooo afraid of the BLACK man. They are blinded by fear and hate; and little do they realize that the black man (any man or woman) cannot run this country by himself.

Now, when I seriously think about it; I believe these people are more afraid that Senator Obama would become the benchmark of Presidential Standards. They rather see a useless republican candidate become President, than an intelligent, resourceful, willing, and engaging BLACK person lead this country. Is this something to be proud of?

NoMcSame   June 18th, 2008 5:22 pm ET

Some of the Hillary supporters make a lot of noise but they won't send her a DIME, how sad it must be to be Clinton and to have support like that. Excellent Will, These people are plan sick in the head if they think Sen. Obama does not have the wisdom and knowledge to run this country. Some of the same ignorant things were said about John F. Kennedy which turned out to be one of our greatest leaders.

I pray he wins by a landslide.

MD   June 18th, 2008 5:10 pm ET

The level of energy in Obama's campaign is astounding.

The planning, the outreach to various cross-sections of the society, and their willingness to gather information and listen to various groups' concerns will definitely go a long way to guarantee success in the general election.

Well Done!

Nancy McKinney   June 18th, 2008 5:10 pm ET

To angry Hillary supporters:
Remember when a McCain supporter called Hillary the "B" word and HE LAUGHED!!! Please show Hillary some respect by rejecting this support of calling Hillary the "B" word

Also, a McCain supporter who raised $300,000 for McCain joked about women being raped, and McCain REFUSED TO RETURN THE MONEY!!!

Also, he voted AGAINST women having equal pay (look it up!!)

As a woman, and fellow Hillary supporter, I ask that you please show some respect for Hillary by rejecting this disrespectful behavior that McCain has exhibited towards women and vote for Obama!

Ted van Tol   June 18th, 2008 5:09 pm ET

"What's your position on this issue Mr McCain"?

Will in Richmond, VA   June 18th, 2008 5:02 pm ET

Gary… My friend… You call young voters ignorant. Please reread your post.

All the experience in the world has gotten us exactly where? You claim to know so much. Please enlighten us.

I'll take wisdom, as shown by the people that Obama got to run his victorious campaign, by his willingness to keep diplomacy on the table under all circumstances, by his meeting with 40 military leaders to discuss our options all over the globe, by his handling of tenuous situatios regarding race and religion, I'll take that wisdom over experience any day.

How about CNN doing your work and highlighting the True Obama that you have been hiding from the American Public.

Some of these female Senators been on TV today to pitch for women's rights. Why now? Right sure, again just trying to get Hillary 's women vote for Obama. Especially two face Claire McCaskell.

Marc PDX   June 18th, 2008 4:42 pm ET

Actually, female HRC supporters are the demographic Obama needs to focus on the most as they are the most likely to have been disenfranchised by the primary election defeat of Hillary. Barak has the black vote pretty well sewn up so his time is better spent wooing the female vote now. That and working class whites. He hasn't done much with that group yet (other than offend them a couple of times).
