WASHINGTON (CNN) – Bill and Hillary Clinton attended the memorial service for Tim Russert at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington on Thursday. That was the first time I have seen them since Senator Clinton dropped out of the presidential race and endorsed Barack Obama. She was very enthusiastic that day. It dawned on me yesterday that we still haven’t heard the former President formally endorse Senator Obama. I am sure he will be on the Obama bandwagon openly and energetically fairly soon. But I wonder what’s taking so long. Then again, is it really all that long?
As our CNN contributor and Democratic strategist James Carville has pointed out, it was only the other day when Al Gore endorsed Obama. We shouldn’t be surprised that Bill Clinton is waiting for the right moment to deliver his big endorsement speech. And having covered the Clinton White House, I can predict that it will be a major media event when he does. Bill Clinton is just one of those remarkable political figures. When he wants to do something, he has a knack of doing it in a spectacular way.

But after that big endorsement is made, how active will the former President be on the campaign trail?
The answer is: I don’t know. I suspect some Obama supporters will want to see him very actively out there. He remains very popular with a lot of Democrats. Others might want him to step back. I remember that Al Gore, back in 2000, didn’t use Bill Clinton all that much, even in states where he might have made a difference. I am referring to Arkansas specifically. Had Gore won Arkansas in 2000, he would have been president. That one state’s electoral votes would have made the crucial difference.
We will soon begin to learn what roles the two Clintons will take. Those of us who are political news junkies will find it fascinating no matter what they do.
One final thing: what about Chelsea Clinton? She was an amazing campaigner for her mom. Let’s see what she does for Obama.

OMG.... Why do the Obama supporters have to be so bitter and angry all the time, no matter what story is on CNN, all the comments are bitter and hateful against the Clintons....NO matter what the story is.. It could be, Happy Birthday Obama, and the O's are attacking theClintons and their supporters..
Just do it like Al...hi and bye! Please stay away as much as you before you see all your glory dragged into the mud with yours. Keep smiling sweetie. Hillary 2012? Maybe who knows.
who cares?

I would think that he can be as polarizing as his wife. Not everyone can be a good campaigner all the time. The conservatives would nail Obama with something because of the connection. It just goes without saying that any negative policy Bill Clinton had, they'll attach to Obama if he comes anywhere close to.

He will after working some steam off with some of Hillarys young female campaign staffers. He might as well get something out of the deal.

I BEAT MY BROTHER TO A PULP WHEN WE WERE KIDS.
AND HE DRIVES ME CRAZY NOW.
HOWEVER LET ANY ONE TOUCH A HAIR ON MY FORMER
REPUBLICAN BROTHER'S HEAD, AND IT'S ON.
BILL UNDERSTANDS WHAT'S AT STEAK, BETTER THAN MOST.
The Clintons should not do anything for Obama if Hillary is not on the ticket. Hillary should run as an independant.
I hope never he will endorse Obama
Stupid all the way
The Clintons will support Obama soon. Andrew, Shelly, and Sam(arab man) are all fools
Let's hope an PRAY we NEVER have to hear from Bill again...he an Hillary did enough to the Party already. They should both just disappear:)
I agree CLINTON in the ticket or McCain in the WHITE-HOUSE
i swear me and my family cousins brothers sisters and trust me i have a lot
of family members will vote for McCain.
Here's your favorite son, Clinton supporters. How could u love him more than Obama who hasn't said nor done anything to slander Clinton or woman, but McCain has ON RECORD called his wife a C***. Something life, "Thanks Cindy (after she introduces him) now go back to the kitchen ya C***."
Look it up. You Clinton supporters have no reason to hate Obama. Look at McCain's record... he's anti everything that would benefit woman. ANti-planned parenthood, anti-choice, anti- contraceptive research- ANTI EVERYTHING
I DARE ANY CLINTON SUPPORTER OUT THERE TO PROVIDE ONE SINGLE SHRED OF EVIDENCE AGAINST OBAMA IN TERMS OF HATING WOMAN.
I hope that he never endorse him? Hillary will be back!
As for 2012, Obama got 17.8 million votes.... You will need them if McCain wins (which I doubt) and Hillary decides to run for president.
So, you better be careful how you handle this situation.
----who cares????
dont like the clintons any more.........
Give him time..He is STUNNED that Hillary did not win. They are both probably in a DAZED and EXHAUSTED state.
You know what REALLY PATHETIC....How the Media wants everything done right away, every day, so they will have something new to talk about. With all the CRAP that is going wrong in the country they are concerned about Bill Clinton....
What a travesty...
When Obama turns into an attractive young woman.
The Clintons can take their time. Heck, they might not even make it on the ticket with him. I really don't see them helping all that much unless she's with him on the ticket (which frankly, might not happen).
I sincerely hope that Mr. Clinton does not throw in his support for Obama. it would be a slap in the face to his wife and her supporters. Everyone made the Clintons look like racists – especially the Obama camp.
And, to all of you that say we are racists because we are not supporting Obama. keep on believing that. We are not racists we are just not plain stupid to support a flakey fake like obama.
I think you mean "in a spectacular way," not "spectacular war." The latter would refer to the current president's approach.
