Former Clinton-backing union endorses Obama

Sen. Obama met with union leaders Thursday.

Sen. Obama met with union leaders Thursday.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees – a 1.4 million-member union that backed Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary – endorsed Barack Obama for president Thursday.

“AFSCME will mobilize more members and invest more resources than ever before to help Senator Obama win the White House,” AFSCME President Gerald McEntee said in a statement. “We will turn out an army of 40,000 AFSCME activists to knock on doors, make phones calls and talk with their co-workers and neighbors to produce an unprecedented turnout in the 2008 election.”

The backing of the nation’s largest public service sector union comes in the midst of a series of meetings in Washington this week between Obama and major labor leaders.

After eight years of a republican president, the country is already in the dumps. There is no other way but up. It will take a Democrat to get us there. For those Obama Bashers, you need to wake up. The only thing The Republican party has done for the country is start a war, create high gasoline and food prices, create more unemployment and mortgage foreclosures. This does not sound like a group that should occupy the White house for another four years. If the general public is smart they will vote all of the Republicans out of congress
also. They had their chance and they blew it.

Get over the Public funding. Obama does not need it. All you people stop listening to McCain and his people and pay close attention to what Obama says and will do for our country. He will be the need President and those that say no are just racist. And he will do it without Hillary on the ticket.

Good for them! Obama should not except public financing because McCain has already cheated and the 527's are going to come out fighting as Obama goes up in polls. Why should he play by rules that the GOP breaks? Working folks for Obama!

To Souza;; You say you are not voting because you are aHillary supporter and don't believe either candidate can do the job. I just wonder if thats the example you would like to set for ------(fill in the blank) that if things don't go your way you will not participate? Take my marbles and go home. Are you sure you are old enough to vote? that is a very immature attitude to have. Don't care who you vote for but do vote, it is not only a privilage it is a duty.

It's hilarious that honest and hardworking men and women are described as "special interests" by neocons and lame brained self destructive puma's.

Why would any decent American support the people who want to export all of our jobs and give us below living wage positions in the service sector to further line China's Communist pockets?

If we're going to funnel money to people, for goodness sake let them be Americans.

To all the racists backing McCain and the white supremist party beware that McCain's nickname in Vietnam was Songbird. I wonder if he was a singer.

Nice to see a union and its leadership supporting another Democrat.

An example is John Sweeney, head of AFL-CIO, and also a card carrying member of the Democratic Socialists of America, and the Trilateral Commission, of which he has relentlessly, along with other socialists in the Democrat Party, tried to infuse European Style Labour Party politic.

Unions have been supporting Democrat Party candidates since Karl Marx created the first International Union in New York; the IBWM. With an unadulterated Socialist like Obama, it appears that the chickens are indeed coming home to roost.

    Unions. A Marxist Tradition.
