Everyday it gets more obvious that Obama does not understand the economy at all. Get this man new economic advisors. What's Obama's idea instead of offshore drilling? OIL WINDFALL TAX. An awful, awful idea. Even blind Obama supporters should agree that Obama is wrong with that idea. That's Jimmie Carter at his worse. Combine that with his vote for the Cheney energy bill and his doubling of the capital gains tax and you have a presidential candidate who has no idea how the economy works.

Obama supporters complain about the issues not being talked about. Well that's probably a good thing for Obama because he knows absolutely nothing about the economy and would devasted our economy if elected.

McCain flip-flopped yet again. Once he got lucrative donations from the very deep pockets of Big Oil...did another flip-flop.

Drilling more oil will do nothing to reduce worldwide demand let alone U.S. demand – so Republicans better get use to high prices if you vote for McCain.

I believe that we need a complex solution to the complex energy problem. Obviously new technologies, solar, wind, nuclear, etc. But we also need to become more self-sufficient with oil supplies. Yes we may not see any oil from off shore drilling for some years, but not a bad idea to start some progress in that direction. With the volatile situation in the Middle East, we should start looking closer to home for our oil. It will be more expensive to obtain, but if we don't start now, we just push the potential further and further into the future.
Devoting research to make it more environmentally safe could make it an attractive part of the solution.

Hey, I'm a Canadian, and if I had it my way, McCain wouldn't even be ALLOWED in my country! Take it from me, NAFTA ain't so popular here either. During the Bush administration, Canadians have noticed that they are paying a HUGE amount taxes on things they EXPORT. In fact, that tax is way larger than that of the U.S. So yes, Canadians are getting screwed over on NAFTA too. We still need free trade between our countries, but this agreement needs to be reformed, and fast.

    OBAMA '08!!!

For those of you who think Obama shares your concern about high gas prices, think again. He stated recently on CNBC that “high gas prices don’t really constitute a problem for Americans . . . only the RAPID increase in prices . . .” So much for his immediate concern for you!

LET US BEGIN to drill here and drill now! Yes, of course it’s a temporary solution – but at least it is a solution. Drilling here and now will send a strong signal to the Middle East oil cartels that America can find a way to fuel its economy (and democracy!!!!) without them.

Then let us show the world that the America that split the atom and put men on the moon will find a new way to power cars and factories.

Yes, it will take some time, but it always begins with the FIRST STEP.
PLEASE! Let the GOP and John McCain shout from the rooftops a new - and winning - campaign slogan: "It's domestic energy, stupid!"

  24. If not Hillary....then McCain

Off shore drilling would be at the discretion of the indiviual states. By the way, The Netherlands have off shore drilling, are clean, have major income from tourism, and store their waste underground. They are PROGRESSIVE in many ways. It is time we drill at home, and put our money into our country's wealth rather than Mexico and the Middle East prospering from our need. There was a time when Americans were more self sufficient. We import high cost commodities and products from overseas, pay through the nose and recieve tainted merchandise. Think of the AMERICAN JOBS drilling would generate. Remember the Alaskan Pipeline?
