Oil companies usually sign a prespection and exploration contract with the politicians of oil exporting countries, well before tehy start prospecting. In other words, the oil is sold even before we know what is in the ground for sure.

If the local dictator doesn't give concessions to the oil company who wants it, it simply means that he has a bigger stronger competitor backing him.

If he doesn't, He is in trouble, and the oil company will not have a lot of problems ousting him or overthrowing the regime with the help of their own milicia, their mercenaries, our CIA or our government and military.

Sad isn't it. Oil that is in these countries have been sold long time and for 100 years in advance at least.

What runs the price of oil up is the speculators in wallstreet and the oil companies themselves. They may buy a barryl in a long term contract when the barryl was $.5 and turn around years later to sell it for any price they chose.

Yet in America, we keep pointing fingers at those countries who are being rip off just like we are. Mostly their citizens, because the meager oil revenue from the whole sale of their natural resources are paid directly to the coffers of the dictators in American and european banks. Oil companies, Bush and McCain do the same when they get their cut of the money.

The people never see the money. They are the victims as well.

The dictators are content with the meager cut they get, so long as it is paid to them and not to the country's treasury.

We have been waiting to be liberated by your country for some time
and pray for the day that the American forces parachute in to save us from

In the meantime, we need to realize that we will require oil for a long time to come; we need to drill for oil in Alaska and offshore; we need to build more nuclear power plants; we need to use our vast amounts of coal and coal-shale deposits; we need to build more refineries; we need to lower capital gains taxes to encourage people to invest in the development of alternate sources of energy; we need to fund nuclear fusion research; we need to understand that an enormous amount of electricity is required to create hydrogen; we need to appreciate that an electric car is not entirely "green" or "clean" if it relies on carbon-based fuel to generate the electricity for its overnight recharging; we need to develop alternate sources of energy but realize it will be decades before they substantially reduce dependence on petroleum; we need to stop being so wasteful with all limited resources; we need to trust the future to inventors and entrepeneurs and investors and capitalists, not government bureaucrats; we need to understand that the U.S. government only loosely enforces its borders in exchange for oil from Mexico and Canada; we need to ignore Al Gore and his "one socialist world" followers.

We do not each need to spend $600 per month on a new hybrid car payment in order to save $150 per month on gas (taking $450 per month out of the rest of the economy); we do not need to ruin our economy with ludicrous CO2 cap-and-trade agreements that will do nothing but raise prices to unimaginable levels and destroy jobs; we do not need to listen to people who can't comprehend that global warming is a cyclical and natural phenomenon caused by the effect of solar activity on cloud formation; we do not need to tax the oil companies and remove their incentive to look for more oil; we do not have to feel guilty for creating wealth and prosperity.

At least it's not another "Pretend I'm Going On A Congressional Tour, but Change It Into A Photo Opt For My Presidential Campaign" trip.

Taxpayers foot the bill for his trip to Iraq and Israel, and we paid for this one as well. You would think with all the money that his wife has, that he would sponge off of her instead of us.
