Obama raised roughly $22 million in the month of May

(CNN) — The Obama campaign said Friday it had raised $21.9 million in the month of May, along with nearly $690,000 in general election funds.

In its monthly campaign finance report filed with the Federal Election Commission, the campaign said its cash on hand figure was $43.1 million.

In April, the Obama campaign reported $31 million in donations. Monthly FEC reports for all presidential candidates are due by midnight.

This money is coming mainly from everyday, regular but extraordinary people including those who do not have. These are the kind of people who saw through the establishment and saw in Jesus a person of integrity who invited them to work for CHANGE THEY COULD BELIEVE IN. Even Samaritans and foreigners believed in him as they do in OBAMA and his "WE" message.

In a questionnaire last year, Obama answered "yes" when asked: "If you are nominated for president in 2008 and your major opponents agree to forgo private funding in the general election campaign, will you participate in the presidential public financing system?" He added: "I will aggressively pursue an agreement with the Republican nominee to preserve a publicly financed general election."
So much for that! What’s a mere $85 million to Obama? By rejecting such public money, Obama can now raise millions more to buy more votes, just as he has in the primary campaign - and send Michelle to finishing school – and make himself a presidential seal – and buy off CNN the DNC – and that’s just for starters.

Why doesn't Obama just take the public funding and let the rest of you donated the money to help the midwest flood victims. That would be a much better use of the money than paying TV stations to run ads.

Jen, CA...you are entitled to your own opinions but not your own facts. Obama raised $22 million in May (as a primary election candidate) and McCain raised $21 million in May (not $31 million) as a general election candidate.

Watch for June and July totals once Obama hits mid-stride before the Democratic convention. Obama will be hitting monthly totals of $30 to $60 million per month.

As a Hillary supporter, Jen,CA, you dishonor Hillary by not supporting Obama. If Hillary supports Obama, why don't you?!?!

Mc Cain could not raise that kind of money in a year , unless his lobby buddies throw him out some serious cashola. The gig is up Grandpa Monster. Republicans are the root of all evil seriously look AT ALL THE DAMAGE THEY HAVE DONE. An Cnn just watchs and won't ask the hard questions. Instead they pretend like only Bush destroyed America but they voted him in, not to mention. Theres only one kind of Republican . There millionaires , the others are just stupid.
