Users rack up millions in tax dollars by shooting vetoes at flying pigs in the McCain camp's latest Facebook application.

(CNN) – Anyone who thought John McCain’s campaign – which launched its very first Facebook application just two days ago – would make a major push on the social networking Web site when pigs fly… is right.

McCain’s new “Pork Invaders” application, launched Friday, is a video game that requires users to dodge incoming projectiles from flying pigs. If a user takes a hit from one of the application’s pigs, the user loses one of the three lives granted at the beginning of the game.

How do you kill the flying pigs? By shooting off vetoes. With each pig killed by a veto, users rack up millions of tax dollars as their score, and progress to the next level — but only after the game lays out campaign talking points like comparing the respective records of Sen. McCain and his rival, Sen. Barack Obama, on earmarks.

On Wednesday, the McCain camp launched “Campaign Cribs: Straight Talk Express” on Facebook, an application that allows users to take a video tour of McCain’s campaign bus.

McCain currently has approximately 150,000 supporters on Facebook while Obama now has roughly 1,020,000 supporters on the site.

What a neat application. It is a shame the candidate doesn't have the knowledge to actually play it. If you can't even send e-mail, you are not qualified to be president in the 21st century.

Nathan   June 20th, 2008 5:55 pm ET

One of the founders of Facebook works for the Obama campaign. Also Obama has over 1,000,000 people on his Facebook list while McCain struggles to reach 200,000. Nice try McCain but you are falling way short.

canuta   June 20th, 2008 5:50 pm ET

Paying homage to video game from circa 1980. Brilliant. I hope McCain has enough 5 1/2″ floppies to make it through election day

Indie Dem, you took the words right out of my mouth.

Oh, this is going to be brutal (for McSame, that is). Its almost too painful to watch.

Brian: you must be so used to the GOP lies that you actually don't think they are same. Brian I'm well of but unemployed so do I care about gas, food women's right ..you bet you butt I do. If you stand up for McBush, McCheney, McRumsfeld and McRice ethics and lies told to the american people then I guess you also embrace the fallen GI's as Collateral damage in the war for oil.

You disgust me you conservative mouthpiece.

This John McCain comes across as one of the most hypocritical politicians ever. For every accusation he launches at Obama, inevitably he has committed himself. The latest, which I have yet to hear CNN report, is his oft repeated phrase, "I didn't really love America until I was deprived of her company." Yet his tycoon "princess" wife has bashed Ms. Obama for her statement, "For the first time in my life…." Funny how selective of a memory both Mr. and Mrs. McCain has.

Barbara   June 20th, 2008 5:11 pm ET

I think McCains pigs fly game is stupid and why would you want to make a game of killing pigs?
The man is as stupid as his Bush counterpart

Eugene: You have finall found your "reason" not to vote for Obama, congrats. Since you care about flip flopping so much here are a few of Mr. McCain's for your comparison. These are just the ones I as former marine with a brother currently serving in the sand find most distasteful:

I HATE WAR –FLIP- We could be in Iraq for 100yrs, not too important when the troops come home. Bomb, Bomb, Bomb Iran
I CARE ABOUT THE TROOPS -FLOP- But I can’t be bothered voting yes on a bill that would improve their benefits, because it would encourage them to leave the armed services and get an education and a better paying job. Every warm body counts for the next hundred yrs.
I CARE ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT – FLIP- I believe offshore drilling is necessary and the ban should be lifted. So a few people won’t be able to go to the beach and accidents might kill some wildlife, my oil & gas interests are bigger than the environment.
VOWS to first wife, I john promise to love honor and cherish for better or for worse -FLIP/FLOP- I didn’t mean the worse part, lets say until someone not dis-figured and richer comes along. So she pops a few pills, she’s rich, willing to walk a few steps behind me, and I can be as dis-respectful to her as I please.

I willtake Obama's flip/flops any day

Peter E   June 20th, 2008 4:38 pm ET

Nelli - Troy, NY   June 20th, 2008 4:35 pm ET

McCain is an anti-abortionist. He will over-turn Roe v Wade. That is not the America we should want for our little girls. No feminist in her right mind should vote for him.

Yep. It's all a game to McCain. Just like Iraq and the economy.

tigerakabj   June 20th, 2008 4:32 pm ET

Early 1980s game for youngsters? Makes perfect sense. Everything about McCain including his policies are out of date and out of touch. What an idiot, who is gonna get his flip-flopping fanny handed to him in November, along with the rest of his neo-conned party.

Obama can win those battle-ground DEM states without the help of Hillary.

Hillary needs the help of Obama to pay her sagging bills, loans etc. This is how terribly Hillary managed her campaign. I guess Hillary and her bitter followers need to beg Obama to come their help!!!

Bottom line, call on McCain to help retire Hillary's debts, loans…!

Well, where was he during the first term of the Bush administration? There was pork flying left and right. I can't recall anything that Bush vetoed. What was McCain doing to convince his REPUBLICAN colleagues to cut out the crap? That is what I want to know. Where are the speeches and votes? Show me that and not this cute game. I want facts and not cuteness from this guy.

Eugene is delusional   June 20th, 2008 4:05 pm ET

Eugene, don't know what tree you fell from, but it certainly wasn't the one of knowledge or logic. First off, the meeting with the Canadian official had nothing to do with NAFTA. Second, how is it Obama's fault that supporters booed HRC? Third, you talk about lying for votes and say that Obama's guilty of it when in fact the biggest panderer ever was Hillary with her gas tax holiday that she wanted to make effective this year (when she's not even president), just to mention one case. So get a grip on reality, will you!

Michael   June 20th, 2008 4:01 pm ET

Mr. Osborne, I've read your criticism of the intelligence or lack of intelligence in people in Tennessee and Kentucky. I see you're from Michigan. And your point would include the incandescent brilliance of those from Detroit?

This from the pseudo-patriot who wraps himself in the image of the flag with the blood of more than 4000 soldiers on his hands? Hypocrite! Most of the so-called earmarks are not pork. Yes, there are some projects that are pork. Most are not, though. Well over 95% of the earmarks are Congress' way of designating how money already budgeted in other bills is to be spent.

Linda K.   June 20th, 2008 3:58 pm ET

To Earl (and everyone else),

I don't want to hear any more jokes about Kentucky, Tennessee, or West Virginia. I'm a Kentucky resident by choice and this is one of the best states I've ever been in. (A little too Republican yet, but otherwise. . .)

Stereotyping doesn't help anyone. Don't spout off generalizations when you have no idea.

FactCheck   June 20th, 2008 3:54 pm ET

What a joke, John McCain don't know how to play this himself and this is like trying to put a square into a round hole. LOL

Jason   June 20th, 2008 3:52 pm ET

Supporters of Obama stop this stuff be adult. You continue to drive voters away as you are ugly and vile on every post. Your not helping the cause. Also spouting juvenile insults while claiming to be sooo smart is quite stupid so get over yourselves you are not as witty as you believe. Not to mention half of the things you say and believe about your candidate and say about McCain are absolutely false which bolsters the other sides argument that the young and stupid are trying to steal this country with a paper thin speach artist.

Nikolas   June 20th, 2008 3:52 pm ET

Wow. Pity John McCain doesn't have things going for him like race and gender to carry him through, and actually has to rely on capturing a majority vote in a country where such things count more than policy and past history. Sadly amusing how so many people on this forum don't get the reference that the video game represents. And these people have a hand in the future of this country?

I have no doubt that America will get the president it deserves.

Paul, Riverside, CA   June 20th, 2008 3:52 pm ET

Gotta hand it to the McCain group. I am an Obama supporter but this is clever.

Point - McCain.

John McCain-McFlip-Flop-McBush is no "maverick"   June 20th, 2008 3:52 pm ET

Pork? You gotta clean the mud from the pig first, Grampy. Maybe Mr. McSham needs to fire all the lobbyists doing business from his bus - including Phil Graham and his multiple dubious connections - from his campaign who are currently funding foreign dictators and warlords. Maybe that's why Cindy's planning a swing through Burma to shore up any deals or connections prior to the general election (?) McCain you are such a dirty, rotten, conniving hypocrite wrapped in pseudo-patriotic clothing. Let's talk about the Keating Five, shall we, big guy?

Ms. D   June 20th, 2008 3:51 pm ET

To: The Mccain supporters,

Before you keep attacking Mrs. Obama regarding being unpatriotic, you better do some history on your candidate. Because Mccain said he was not proud of his country until he became a POW and start missing the freedoms of his country. Now I can take a word or two out or add a word or two. My point is stick to the issues because everybody is from different cultures and backgrounds and everybody is not proud of everything the United States do!! But it don't mean they are not patriotic!!

BE   June 20th, 2008 3:51 pm ET

It's a tiny facebook game. McCain is just attempting to paint himself as a fiscal conservative. If you're reading anything else into it, you aren't as smart as you think you are.

Republican for Obama   June 20th, 2008 3:51 pm ET

First and foremost, I call it genious, but won't get my vote for it. I have to respect this though, no doubt about it, it's great Marketing.

If only he could carry out the concept of vetoes, rather then war. He will take from it that we like war, not money. And if I only rack up millions with tax cuts, but spend BILLIONS on a war, then am I not actually still losing?

Furthermore, isn't it odd that his first big internet application is very 'war like' in shooting things? The man isn't even elected and he's already started another war.

What's next? A shooting game where you kill US soldiers over seas and you get a free replay if it lasts 100 minutes?

ted   June 20th, 2008 3:51 pm ET

Dudes: this is just a campaign gimmick. Nothing more.

Peter E   June 20th, 2008 3:50 pm ET

But I feel sorry for all those low-income folks who financed Obama’s primary campaign — and are now being asked to finance his general election campaign. Obama is more than happy to take their last $100 — money that could be better spent to fill their gas tank or to feed thier children.

How thoughtless of the man - $85 million of already dedicated public funds is not good enough for Obama?

Doesn’t OBAMA see that he is only adding to the burden of the average american (SMALL donors) who he is now asking to SUPPORT him through November?

So Obama will BUY the presidency — now that’s democracy!

S. Boatman Warrensburg Mo.   June 20th, 2008 3:25 pm ET

They Should Make A Game With Mccains Face On A Waffle. . . You Could Get Points By Flip Flopping It!

Michelle   June 20th, 2008 3:25 pm ET

"The kids over in Iraq lives are a game to him. "

Response: The above post is pure tripe.
McCain has a son serving in Iraq.

This Is Just Lame.   June 20th, 2008 3:24 pm ET

I am sorry but I find that insulting. Why does McCain think young people need a video game to find information about his candidacy?

Monica for Obama in Indiana   June 20th, 2008 3:22 pm ET

Poooooorrrr McCain, he will never get it and that staff, I hope he isn't paying them.

Flying pigs, how tacky. But since he doesn't know how to work a computer, what does he care?

Brian   June 20th, 2008 3:21 pm ET

Why use pigs? Use big Hoover dams…. oh that's right pork is ok for Arizona just not the rest of the U.S.

independent for O   June 20th, 2008 3:21 pm ET

how lame.i have pogo.

Jessica, NY   June 20th, 2008 3:20 pm ET

for the record, I'm an Obama supporter. Doesn't mean I can't like something McCain does, I think this is quirky and fun. Lighten up people.

Michelle   June 20th, 2008 3:20 pm ET

I think it's a good idea and gets across the main point:

Much taxpayer money is wasted on pork barrel spending.

A Nightingale Sings in Berkley Square   June 20th, 2008 3:19 pm ET

Good idea John. Facebook is good. Obama is bad.

Maybe Obama is not a Muslim now but wasn't he raised as a Muslim?

As I recall his dad was a Muslim and later his mom divorced him. Then Obama's mom married another black Muslim and they moved to a Muslim country where they lived there a spell during Obama's formative years.

He may not be a Muslim now, at least that is what he tells us, but you never know what goes on behind closed doors with him and his hurricane wife. Isn't she a piece of work?

To be safe, there is another choice.

Do you want to risk our country with an unknown who was raised in a foreign land? I don't think I want that risk.

dan   June 20th, 2008 3:19 pm ET

People are still talking about the NAFTA thing? Uhhh, the canadian government came out and apologized to the obama camp because it was actually a CLINTON PERSON who gave them the :wink wink: go educate yourself and look it up. Of course that "unfair media for Hilliary" was pretty much hush hush on the entire topic. Just like they didnt say a word even though the Clintons are currently being sued for campaign fraud. Could you imagine if Obama was being sued for campaign fraud? It would be EVERYWHERE. But ya, the media is soooo unfair to Hilliary.

Crush Rush   June 20th, 2008 3:19 pm ET

After 34 years, John and the Big Oil Boys are back in business in Iraq.Nice timing, tells me why we went there in the first place.

Brian   June 20th, 2008 3:19 pm ET

Finally an honest post! Much better than thos Republicans pretending to be democrats!

June 20th, 2008 9:29 am ET

I dont care who he picks as vp. I'm rich, so i dont care about gas prices. I love war so i dont care if we stay there 150 more years. And it's man's world so who cares about women rights! All reason's i'm voting for John McCain this fall!!!

McCain's my friend!! :)

Bob Indianapolis, IN   June 20th, 2008 3:18 pm ET

Hope McSame is having a nice day in Canada, what with the endless war he supports, flooding in the Midwest, broken levees that should be fixed before rebuilding Baghdad, a deep national recession, $4 a gallon gas caused by speculation and a weak dollar that his pal, Dumbya has let slide for eight years, and that his shortsided giveaway to Big Oil won't fix for 10 years…Enjoy Canada, Grandpa! Stay there…

A CANUCK   June 20th, 2008 3:17 pm ET

Is shooting and war all Elmer Fudd thinks about ????????

Pam   June 20th, 2008 3:16 pm ET

Too bad McCain won't be able to play it, he doesn't know how to use a computer.

Elaine B, Milwaukee, WI   June 20th, 2008 3:15 pm ET

Unfortunately, the pig we won't see flying is the big bloated expense for this useless and unending war in Iraq. Trillions we could be spending to shore up levees, help people keep their homes or give us some relief from the gas prices. AND, one must note, having a pig game at a time when images of drowning pigs and heroic pigs who made a swim for it on the stubby legs makes shooting them down a bit, well, icky. Bad timing, John Boy. Bad form.

Eric   June 20th, 2008 3:15 pm ET

Does EVERYTHING dealing with this man deals with violence and killing?! Someone should look into that…..

Capt. Smash, Salt Lake City, Utah   June 20th, 2008 3:14 pm ET

Does everyone notice this is all about killing, yes: McWar likes to kill. This is his mind set. Let's go to war and kill people, McWar can not think of any thing else to do.

Brian From Knoxville has now transformed into Knoxville Operation Chaos   June 20th, 2008 3:14 pm ET

McCain will bring out Pitfall and Q-bert next. Maybe Super McCain-o brothers staring Bush and McCain will come out as well. Get that Mushroom, Juanny McCain.

JOHN MCCAIN…. MEMBER OF THE TRILATERAL COMMISSION.

Sarah, 23, FL   June 20th, 2008 3:14 pm ET

The younger generation is will be for OBAMA :)

"McCain currently has approximately 150,000 supporters on Facebook while Obama now has roughly 1,020,000 supporters on the site".

Hello???

Out with the old (McBush), in with the new (OBAMA).

OBAMA '08

jonny   June 20th, 2008 3:12 pm ET

Obama/Gore '08!!!!!

Tron   June 20th, 2008 3:12 pm ET

Way to leap boldly into the eighties, Senator!

Does the straight talk express have ColecoVision too? That would be totally tubular!

OBAMA BACKER   June 20th, 2008 3:11 pm ET

I guess he caught lie and smear Mrs OBAMA on this site. Numbers fon't lie 150,000 to 1 Million by OBAMA is a sad future outlook for McSame.

Capt. Smash, Salt Lake City, Utah   June 20th, 2008 3:11 pm ET

Get real McExxon is talking about honesty, McFlipper, McFlip, Flop, Flip! McChange with the wind. McKill; Women and Children with Napalm! McLeave my wife while she was on her death bed! McDepends that needs to be changed now! Come on, and they think this guy has honesty

Jeff D, South Bend, IN   June 20th, 2008 3:10 pm ET

Eugene - take a deep breathe, man - you are hyperventilating at your own fictional reality. Take some ritalin.

Heather   June 20th, 2008 3:10 pm ET

Who cares? John McCain's presence on Facebook is purely symbolic, because he admitted earlier this year that he has never used a computer. Remember when Bush 41 went to a grocery store, and admitted he had never seen a bar scanner? Same thing. Out of touch with reality.

Welcome to the 21st century, ladies and gentlemen. Now step aside, and let the big dogs play through.

Jeff D, South Bend, IN   June 20th, 2008 3:08 pm ET

You can't be serious!! Not only is McCain a senile, angry old man - his web team is completely clueless. This reminds me of my grandpa trying to talk to us about "those new-fangled computer gadgets". Or my grandma trying to work a cable box.

This is a Dukakis moment for McCain!

John Y Des Plaines IL   June 20th, 2008 3:08 pm ET

Wow what forward thinking! A 1980's video style game. How current and fresh. Is this the type of "new" ideas John McSame has for us if he god forbid somehow gets into the white house? How about some Pong next???

NoMcSame   June 20th, 2008 3:08 pm ET

McSame whole campaign is a game. The kids over in Iraq lives are a game to him. Health care is a game. Flip flopping is a game to him and all of his people but come January they all will have a lot of time to play them. This is no game McSame you are in the process of trying to put the U.S. at odds with the rest of the world just like Bush has done. The game is over and you can take your toys and go home.
Obama08 with or without the PUMA people.

Cynthia - Arkansas   June 20th, 2008 3:07 pm ET

Seeing how John McCain doesn't know how to use a computer, how is he going to kill flying pigs? How lame.

unions are not stupid   June 20th, 2008 3:07 pm ET

oh my as if we needed it any more high lighted that he is behind on the time he comes up with a game that is a knock off from the early 80's i wounder if he accesses face book through a IBM PC/XT with a supper fast 8080 intel processor LMAO yea that is sarcasm

New Day   June 20th, 2008 3:06 pm ET

Wow! that should really attract the young folk! A game that's modeled after another game that came out before they were born. Pretty sweet. He kinda reminds me of the aunt that you went to visit as a child who would offer you candy. Then after you accepted, happily, you find out its that dusty, old rock candy no one likes.

Eugene   June 20th, 2008 3:05 pm ET

Obama is a flip flop liar. He is the same old politician. He flip flop about Public Funding and NAFTA. During the primary, he said he did not aware of his staff talking to the Canadian about NAFTA but look at his position about NAFTA now, it is exactly what his staff said to the Canadian that time. He lies to Americans to get votes. This is change that you can expect from him. Also, at the Al Gore endorsement Obama rally, when the Governor of Michigan mention Hillary name, Obama's supporters boo her rudely. This is the Unity that Obama promise you. This is another change that you can expect from Obama. After all of this, I suggest all Americans do not ever listen to anything Obama say but look at what Obama did instead. He will never get my support or my vote no matter what Hillary say to convince us to support him. I simply can not support a flip flop liar.

Independent Fred   June 20th, 2008 3:05 pm ET

I really like Senator McCain my only fear is he's feeling the pressure to shift too far right. While I disagree with his position on the war I still see him as an honerable man.

If both camps stick to the Issues America will have a choice between two good guys, albeit polar opposites. I suspect the winner will be whomever is closest to center.

Jim   June 20th, 2008 3:04 pm ET

lol, I take that as an insult, he's treating people on facebook like babies, that's actually funny…wow…

What do YOU know   June 20th, 2008 3:04 pm ET

What an idiot. Is this his way of being hip or something? I feel insulted. Heaven forbid his brilliant campaign strategist would think up a game to use that was actually played by people that will be voting in this election. Space Invaders…. Did that not come out on Atari? In like 1980? It's a ticky tack criticism, but it resonates to a much larger problem with this candidate.

Earl Osborne MI   June 20th, 2008 3:03 pm ET

Right out of Roves playbook…the Republicans are full of games and this is just another example.

I suppose it's good for those in Tennessee and Kentucky….those uneducated white folk will crack open the moonshine and invite the whole clan to play….(do they have computers McBush?)

Go away old man and entertain the feeble minded people that will vote for McBush 2

Yvette   June 20th, 2008 3:03 pm ET

Dumb

Matt   June 20th, 2008 3:03 pm ET

…and the democrats will claim this is a demonstration of how much Republicans hate pigs and all other animals in 4…3….2…

indy dem   June 20th, 2008 3:03 pm ET

Paying homage to video game from circa 1980. Brilliant. I hope McCain has enough 5 1/2″ floppies to make it through election day

DJ, LA, CA   June 20th, 2008 3:01 pm ET

Memo to John: what about the billions of wasted taxpayer dollars spent on profiteering Bush/Cheney constituents that are seeking guaranteed no-bid projects in Iraq until 2012? What about the all the money you get get from Big Oil lobbyists seeking an extension of your corrupt energy policy?

Jason   June 20th, 2008 3:01 pm ET

that's awesome.
