The Obama campaign debuted a new logo Friday that bears a striking resemblance to the presidential seal. Photo credit: AP, White House.
CHICAGO, Illinois (CNN) – Presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama sat down in Chicago Friday morning to discuss the economy with visiting Democratic governors, but all eyes were on the Illinois senator’s podium bearing, what might be described as, a quasi-presidential seal – a new Obama campaign logo.
The seal includes the same bald eagle as the actual presidential seal clutching an olive branch and arrows in its talons, but instead of a shield covering the center of the eagle’s body, the Obama version displays the campaign’s trademark “O.” Unlike the Presidential seal, which includes the words “Seal of the President of the United States” around the circumference, “Obama for America” and “www.barackobama.com” grace the top and bottom of Obama's.
Finally, just above the eagle, in Latin, are the words – “vero possumus” – which translates to “yes we can,” the oft-heard chant at Obama rallies.
It remains to be seen how the new seal will play in the campaign’s quest to win over working-class voters.

He is the most sneaky, arragont, let alone cocky person I have ever seen / or heard. I do not trust him, he is so out of touch with what's going on in the USA let alone Iraq,Iran, and on and on not a clue.
What astounding arrogance and presumptuousness! Even though I am a Canadian and not involved in your election, I think this kind of attitude by a presidential candidate makes America look like a laughing stock.
Vero Possumus – Act like a possum.
mmmm I'm a big Obama supporter but I typically don't care for it too much.
Who cares what logo one campaign has vs. the other? How many millions of US taxpayers were spent today, in Iraq? How many americans have died in Iraq this week? How much less in the US dollar today? What is the direct impact of the war in Iraq on the economy? How much money is needed to give a descent salary to a teacher, in the US? How many schools have we built in Iraq (a country with surplus budget) vs. how many schools have we rehabilitated in the US (a country with trillions in deficit)? if you have nothing else, ask candidates what they'd do if Osama Bin Laden was captured instead of killed. Will our system decide to torture him?
So this will be the seal when Obama overthrows the government and makes all white people poor, and all black people rich?
I can only wonder what the flag will look like.
This is bad. Obama is the presumtive nominee and he is attempting to change everything in this great country. He does not care about this country. The "elitest" seal.
You guys are funny - Dictatorship??
I think it's great. Positive thinking, haha. And anyway, McCain's logos and slogans look a little familiar too, hmm, let me think, where have I seen them before?
How about this - stop imitating him if you don't think he's got anything going for him.
Smart man.
Plus it pisses the righies off – just give them a day or two and McSame will copy this too. Why can't the McSame camp come up with their own ideas?
Disgrace!! Arrogance!! What a laugh. They go ballistic on this but the deceptions by the bush admin just float on by. Unreal.
Just when you think Obama can't possibly get any more self-consumed...he surprises you with yet another over-the-top exercise in megalomania. Perhaps next week he will invite us to touch the hem of his cloak so that we may see.
Some people just don't get it, you say you don't know the main, just as your typing your comments DO SOME RESEARCH!!! Stop listening to main stream media and research for yourself there is more to McCain and Hillary that what you see. And if you think McCain is the better choice, again RESEARCH!!!
If he's elected president, he'll probably have his own face carved in Mt. Rushmore.
Not surprised at his arrogance.
Go to hell all you Obama haters! If you vote for McCain, you're nothing but a fool and Obama doesn't expect your vote anyway.
Go Obama 2008!!!
I notice his version left out... the Flag. Where's the Flag?
It's a logo, probably thought up by a marketing group. Jeez you guys are paranoid. I'm sure if George had done the same thing and turned the Eagle into a big "W" holding olive branches and arrows for his campaign we'd being hearing about how patriotic and clever it was from the same group saying this one is arrogant and elitist. Stop being hypocrites and get over it.
WHAT A ARROGANT SELF SERVING ELITIST.
Really? You people are going to complain about his new logo? Of all the problems in this country and world, your biggest concern is how similar this man's logo is to the presidential seal?
I'm an Obama supporter, and I agree that this seems ever so slightly arrogant, but it's a non-issue.
You are all so worried about first ladies, logos, and PR photo ops, but none of that really matters.
Well, it looks like we have another candidate for the three dollar bill, and its logo.
Elitist and pompous.
Obama, I'm for you all the way, but I think that the seal is a bit too much.
Obama '08
Way too arrogant for me...won't get my vote. I'm with Lillian...TACKY!
What audacity this guy has! It is an Obamanation (spelling?) and absurd copy of the real presidential seal. Who is this one term senator from Illionois anyway?
In response, Mc Cain is going to spin his logo off the Mc Donald's Golden Arches. It will say "Over 1 Billion Screwed". By the way, Mc Cain bought the first Mc Donald's burger from his son, Ray Crock.
Try sticking to the issues and stop watching so much American Idol!!!
