The people McWar surrounds himself with are the kinds of people who orchestrate his way of thinking. War, war and more war! This gets them excited. Black only said what they have been thinking all along. It just came out in public this time instead of behind closed doors. Again, NOT MY SONS McWar. Not my sons.

Soooo....is all the money we're spending on the war REALLY going to fund the war?? The Obama camp would be dragged thru the mun if one of them has made such a insensitive statement. So the GOP is counting on another attack to scare us into to voting for McBush? Say goodbye to ANY chance you had at my Vote.

Black should have said, "We all hope and pray that a terrorist attack does not happen. But if it does, Senator McCain will be the most equipped to handle the situation." I know McCain certainly does NOT want a terrorist attack!!!

This reporter really "led" Black into this response with the way he phrased the question. Bad job on the news interviewer's end! "Boo" to the reporter.

The fact that he claimed he didnt recall the comment should speak volumes to some of you.

When you let go of you anger, let go of your hate, let go of your fear.....

And just look at the two candidates, what they represent and what they have stood for.......

And just think about what the American people as a whole are suffering through.....

The choice is dirt simple.

No one in their right mind would cast a vote for the GOP and John McCain.

It is amazing that so many people are so taken in by fancy rhetoric and empty promises. Senator McCain has two sons serving in the military with one of them in Iraq; do you REALLY think he would intentionally put his sons at risk? But then, with the exception of a few 'thinking' individuals, I guess you probably would.

It is unfortunate - no it is disgraceful and disgusting that you would take an individual who served his country well and who was held captive for five years - to defame him as most of you in this comment area have done. You don't have to like him and you don't have to vote for him but you really do need to open your eyes as to who is really the big threat here. And it isn't McCain.

Pretty good deal, you press on with a failed campaign, lend yourself the bulk of the money to keep it going, then extort repayment from others afterward.

Just Clinton being Clinton I guess.

Hypothetical situation:

A senior Obama aide is asked "Don't Obama's chances of winning increase as the economy continues to worsen?"

How should the aide answer? Obviously, if the economy gets worse between now and November, the anger against Bush and Republicans, including McCain, is going to grow and make Obama more appealing.

So if the aide is honest, they would say that the worse the economy gets, the better Obama's chances get. Even though that is true, I seriously doubt Obama is hoping the economy gets worse, just as any reasonable person would doubt McCain, or Mr. Black, is hoping for a terrorist attack this fall.

Acknowledging an obvious reality does not reveal any sinister intentions.

Just because a question is asked does not mean it is deserving of an answer. "Why do you ask?" "Did you have something specific in mind?" "Don't you have any sense of decency?" "Is your mother still hooking under a fictitious name?" All of the above.

Black is political advisor strategist...of course he'de make a comment like that, of course it's crossed his mind. It doesn't mean he'de plot an attack. I'm sick of how overblown everybody's reactions are. It seem everybody's comments have to carry n impossible moral weight. If you don't vote for Mc Cain you're a socialist. If you don't vote for Obama you're a racist. If you don't stand by Hilary, you're a mysoginist or a traitor. Sometimes I don't think I'll last till November. Stupid article. Stupid reactions. Could we be rational and vote on opinions, not in relflex to hurt feelings or fear?

I am utterly disguisted at all the terrorist attack remarks that will "help John McCain."
Both Black and Bill Kristol should be banished to Afghanistan (away from news microphones) and made to serve in combat alongside our soldiers (remember our soldiers, those wonderful men and women risking their lives every day).
The McCain campaigh has completely shamed itself and should just go away.
McCain whines about Senator Obama changing his mind on campaign finance, yet allows his staff/supporters to make terrorist comments.
John McCain and his campaign are a disgrace.

I would NEVER vote for anyone that depends on more Americans dying to win an election.

IS THIS WHAT THE REPUBLICANS ARE ABOUT? LEAVE BIN LODEN OUT THERE SO HE CAN ATTACK US AGAIN JUST SO THEY CAN WIN ANOTHER ELECTION?

Charlie Black is not stupid.
He reminds me of Karl Rove.
His statement has helped solidify the impression that John McCain is the candidate of experience in dealing with the Terrorist threat with those that believe in this fantasy and those who may believe in it in the future.
John McCain supported the Bush story that Iraq was a player in the 911 attack.
It's not the amount of expeerience that counts, but what that experience has taught you.
His present stance on the war indicates that he has not learned anything.

An attack on the nation would benefit John McCain? It only means that what's good for McCain is not good for the nation.

I am Pedro, and I say: "Vote for Obama!"

My hope is that McCain not only distance himself from his campaign advisor, Mr. Black, but that he "fires" him now...please! This development is upsetting to me! As a long-time Republican, I still support McCain! The statement by Black may be somewhat taken out of context -- but it will hurt McCain !
Now Obama will endeavor to slam McCain on this issue through the rest of the campaign! ...Damage control by McCain now could be too late! ... Black must go -- NOW !!

bush/cheney certainly used a terrorist attack for their own gain, of course mccain would benefit. and with his violent, ineffective ideas on foreign policy, we would defintely be dealing with one if he were POTUS, which is exactly why he should never be!

enough of the GREED, selfishness, divisiveness, and ugliness of repugs. they are a disgusting group, and need to be gone!

McBush? McWar? Can't you guys come up with something at least a bit more inventive, not to mention something that's accurate? I don't plan on voting for Obama, but I don't need to engage in idiotic name calling or the making of unfounded claims to feel better about it.

He doesn't regret a thing! He knew what he was doing and knew that even if he took heat for it, the words were out there and it would stick with some.

Apparently he, too, has realized that most voters are gullible morons who will believe anything and everything without bothering to research if a statement is true or not. The fact that most Americans STILL believe Obama is a Muslim (because spending 20 years in a CHRISTIAN church surely proves that) and still believe that Barack is NOT his real first name only backs up the fact that far too many voters are stupid.

I suspect Swifters will be out and about in full force soon enough and they'll repeat their lies over and over and over again so that come Nov. we will end up with another 4 years of psycho conservative, Bush tactics.

It's absolutely true that McSame would benefit from it. I think there are segments of the Republican Party that would love something disasterous to happen to innocent Americans, it is scary and sad but true, not to mention sickening. I hate that this campaign has disgenerated to these kind of comments and scare tactics. There is race involved in this campaign, age, and now tactics to discredit one's love of country and ability to protect us as Commander and Cheif. It will be so nice to deeply feel that we have evolved as a country and can really be proud of where we are, but it seems like just when we think we have advanced the old way of doing things rears it's ugly head. tsk, tsk, tsk!!!!

Yeah, a terrorist attack happening on King Bush's watch. That would be extremely good for his campaign since he only plans on continuing Bush's systematic elimination of our rights. Except for guns that it is, it's alright if Americans kill each other.

1. It's the heart and soul of the GOP playbook, and 2. What McCain's camp is feeling, knowing he's going to get his butt kicked November 4th.

Charlie Black is most likely not the only person in McSame's camp that is eyeing just "what" another terror attack in the U.S. would mean for the republican campaign. It is a fearful thought (just like their goal is---instilling fear in voters) to consider to just WHAT lengths political ambitions could drive the criminal world to be a part of. God Bless Barack Obama for wanting justice and a decent America for all of us!

1: Bush and Republicans didn't make us any safer
2: They've been lieing to us all along.

But ofcourse, everyone already knows this.

We have heard republicans saying that with a democrat in the White House, America is weaker.

It is actually the other way around. Terrorists gain more if John McCain and republicans wins the 2008 election. Islamic radicalism has grown and multiplied more under the Bush administration than any other administration. Bush, Cheney and Rice policies have done more to inflame the anti-American sentiment around the world than anything else we have done.

A John McCain administration will be just a third administration of George Bush and that's just what terrorists need and hope. An administration that gives them a reason to keep anti American sentiments high, so they can continue recruiting and fundraising.

A democratic administration will restore America's image around the world which will be a big blow to Osama Bin Laden and all others.

It is actually a John McCain administration what terrorists crave.

i'm just looking forward to a day in this campaign season where mccain begins to really FEEL just like the tired, old man he is...
dont get me wrong...there is nothing wrong with being a tired, old man (i normally say "age" is all in your head)....

but when it comes to THE most powerful job on the planet...it would be soooo nice to BOTH get RID of republican slime for a few hundred years........and have someone who brings a sense of confidence to the presidency....- the kind of confidence where there is no need for a wheelchair at any given political event (or at bedside)...

get REAL....the sound of "cane" in mccain is all we need to know....

Is Black saying people should die for McCain to be elected. So, McCain candidacy does not depend on his qualification but the death of American citizens. Micheal Moore was right. The terrorist attack on ths nation was envoked by greedy men who do not have this country and its' people at heart. Same, same and same on Black.

Ironically, Obama would benefit. After eight years of Bush (and similar policies sought by McCain) it would prove we are still no safer.

It sure sounds like part of an overall strategy for the McCain camp - make outrageous and racists statements and then offer a weak apology after the content is out there.

The Republican party is going to play racism and oil games the entire election cycle. The Big Oil companies and traders that are protected by republican legislation when they had the majority are squeezing the people on oil and gas prices.

Legislation to undue this critical market manipulation is now being blocked by John McCain and his filibustering GOP senators.

These past eight years of fabricated war justifications, protection for Enron and other energy thieves by John McCain and his republican partners should show us all that they can't be trusted. Right now there is an awful stench of greed and corruption in the republican party and they need to be booted from power by the people at the voting booth.

A terrorist attack on America would be the direct result of the GOP failure to fight the enemy instead of grabbing for profits.

I'm not surprised - the Republican Party runs on fear, and John McCain, once a man I admired, has sold his soul in his desperate bid to be President. This kind of cynical pandering to the fear-mongers starts from the top-down. McCain should immediately call for Charlie Black's resignation.
