It is amazing that so many people are so taken in by fancy rhetoric and empty promises. Senator McCain has two sons serving in the military with one of them in Iraq; do you REALLY think he would intentionally put his sons at risk? But then, with the exception of a few 'thinking' individuals, I guess you probably would.

It is unfortunate – no it is disgraceful and disgusting that you would take an individual who served his country well and who was held captive for five years – to defame him as most of you in this comment area have done. You don't have to like him and you don't have to vote for him but you really do need to open your eyes as to who is really the big threat here. And it isn't McCain.

Hypothetical situation:

A senior Obama aide is asked "Don't Obama's chances of winning increase as the economy continues to worsen?"

How should the aide answer? Obviously, if the economy gets worse between now and November, the anger against Bush and Republicans, including McCain, is going to grow and make Obama more appealing.

So if the aide is honest, they would say that the worse the economy gets, the better Obama's chances get. Even though that is true, I seriously doubt Obama is hoping the economy gets worse, just as any reasonable person would doubt McCain, or Mr. Black, is hoping for a terrorist attack this fall.

Acknowledging an obvious reality does not reveal any sinister intentions.

I am utterly disguisted at all the terrorist attack remarks that will "help John McCain."
Both Black and Bill Kristol should be banished to Afghanistan (away from news microphones) and made to serve in combat alongside our soldiers (remember our soldiers, those wonderful men and women risking their lives every day).
The McCain campaigh has completely shamed itself and should just go away.

Charlie Black is not stupid.
He reminds me of Karl Rove.
His statement has helped solidify the impression that John McCain is the candidate of experience in dealing with the Terrorist threat with those that believe in this fantasy and those who may believe in it in the future.
John McCain supported the Bush story that Iraq was a player in the 911 attack.
It's not the amount of expeerience that counts, but what that experience has taught you.

He doesn't regret a thing! He knew what he was doing and knew that even if he took heat for it, the words were out there and it would stick with some.

Apparently he, too, has realized that most voters are gullible morons who will believe anything and everything without bothering to research if a statement is true or not. The fact that most Americans STILL believe Obama is a Muslim (because spending 20 years in a CHRISTIAN church surely proves that) and still believe that Barack is NOT his real first name only backs up the fact that far too many voters are stupid.

I suspect Swifters will be out and about in full force soon enough and they'll repeat their lies over and over and over again so that come Nov. we will end up with another 4 years of psycho conservative, Bush tactics.

I think there are segments of the Republican Party that would love something disasterous to happen to innocent Americans, it is scary and sad but true, not to mention sickening. I hate that this campaign has disgenerated to these kind of comments and scare tactics. There is race involved in this campaign, age, and now tactics to discredit one's love of country and ability to protect us as Commander and Cheif. It will be so nice to deeply feel that we have evolved as a country and can really be proud of where we are, but it seems like just when we think we have advanced the old way of doing things rears it's ugly head. tsk, tsk, tsk!!!!

We have heard republicans saying that with a democrat in the White House, America is weaker.

It is actually the other way around. Terrorists gain more if John McCain and republicans wins the 2008 election. Islamic radicalism has grown and multiplied more under the Bush administration than any other administration. Bush, Cheney and Rice policies have done more to inflame the anti-American sentiment around the world than anything else we have done.

A John McCain administration will be just a third administration of George Bush and that's just what terrorists need and hope. An administration that gives them a reason to keep anti American sentiments high, so they can continue recruiting and fundraising.

A democratic administration will restore America's image around the world which will be a big blow to Osama Bin Laden and all others.

It is actually a John McCain administration what terrorists crave.

It sure sounds like part of an overall strategy for the McCain camp – make outrageous and racists statements and then offer a weak apology after the content is out there.

The Republican party is going to play racism and oil games the entire election cycle. The Big Oil companies and traders that are protected by republican legislation when they had the majority are squeezing the people on oil and gas prices.

Legislation to undue this critical market manipulation is now being blocked by John McCain and his filibustering GOP senators.

These past eight years of fabricated war justifications, protection for Enron and other energy thieves by John McCain and his republican partners should show us all that they can't be trusted. Right now there is an awful stench of greed and corruption in the republican party and they need to be booted from power by the people at the voting booth.

A terrorist attack on America would be the direct result of the GOP failure to fight the enemy instead of grabbing for profits.
