Obama and McCain are each strong on certain issues.
Obama and McCain are each strong on certain issues.

(CNN) – In some of the more recent public opinion polls, Barack Obama comes out doing much better than John McCain on several domestic issues. McCain, on the other hand, does better when it comes to the war on terror.

The latest USA Today-Gallup Poll, for example, shows that Obama is seen as doing a better job than McCain on health care (51 percent to 26 percent), the economy (48 percent to 32 percent), energy (47 percent to 28 percent), and taxes (44 percent to 35 percent).

In this same poll, they basically tie on such matters as the war in Iraq (43 percent to 43 percent), moral values (40 percent to 39 percent) and illegal immigration (34 percent to 36 percent).

But it’s a totally different situation when it comes to the war on terror. McCain is seen as doing a better job by a 52 percent to 33 percent margin.

All of which suggests that Obama probably would win the election if the biggest issues involve the economy and other domestic matters. But that could change if the war on terror were to emerge as issue number one. Under that circumstance, voters might flock toward McCain.

It’s a fascinating insight into the minds of voters – but remember: it’s only a current snapshot. Things can easily change between now and November 4. They always do.

When foreign people read these blogs, such as the above, and a few others today, that mortifies the world into thinking that America has not learned anything and is still going down the wrong track. It is frightening and it is very, very sad.

Jimmy   June 23rd, 2008 7:51 pm ET

'But that could change if the war on terror were to emerge as issue number one'

That sentence just frightened me, I don't know why but do you understand my concern?

Angie, an American   June 23rd, 2008 7:36 pm ET

I have not always been the biggest supporter of McCain, but he will get my vote in November. The main reason is that I feel like in a crisis an American war hero is much more trustworthy. I think Obama is much too inexperienced for the job. I am also afraid that the man may be a little bit of a wolf in sheep's clothing...............am I the only one who gets that feeling?

Brian in So. Cal.   June 23rd, 2008 7:08 pm ET

hey mike in syracuse – i believe GWB had the experience and the family tree to back it up and look what a mess he delivered. after 8 years i don't think anyone needs to indure anymore of his experience. i'll take young, energetic, intelligent leader over an 80 y/o retread. why don't we go with a 100 y/o, they would be overflowing with experience.

Michelle from Colorado   June 23rd, 2008 7:05 pm ET

It is funny how these two are seen as doing a better or a worse job of anything. This is not either one of their jobs at this moment. People are wishing that one or the other is or would be doing better on this that or the other issue. Somehow, this year, people stopped looking at the current track record of the candidates and instead just wish or think when it comes down to it, they will be successful. This is not based on any evidence. It's just who told the best fish story.

sandor   June 23rd, 2008 7:01 pm ET

I don't know why Wolf Blitzer doesn't just join the Republican party. You can see that he is biased as old hell and the same goes with half the media. Corporate cronies versus the real people of America.
What a corrupt system! What a corrupt democracy!

Seth...IN   June 23rd, 2008 6:52 pm ET

Both candidates have issues that are not favorable for president, Obama is young, radical, and inexperienced overall. McCain is old, not quite conservative not quite liberal. Obama, like many of his liberal predecessors can speak very well and give moving speeches, but when it comes down to it speaking is not doing squat, it is action that will do any good for our country and frankly larger, stronger central government is not the answer at all! WHEN we have our next terrorist attack (hopefully not) but it may be inevitable, and if it is from a country like Iran or North Korea, etc.... who do you want in the oval office and earth loving peace at all cost isolationist or a confident, tested, experienced leader when we have to react? America will choose in November.

joeskeys2thegame   June 23rd, 2008 6:45 pm ET

Most of America wants out of Iraq but Obama and McCain poll to a standstill. Bush/McCain policies have done everything imagineable to inflame and broaden the conflict and increase global terrorism and McCain is still given a huge edge in "War on Terror."

This is a question of perception. Democrats have every reason to argue that they are better equipped on foreign policy and national security with the Republicans. They can't run away from this fight and rely on the economy. They have to hit it head on. Right now Obama is doing that. Hopefully America can take note.

gobo   June 23rd, 2008 6:32 pm ET

It surprises me what the basis is for people to believe that McCain is stronger in forgein policy/national security. Because the guy used to be in the army or he talks tough does not make him strong in those area.

Devon Spencer (Lancaster, PA)   June 23rd, 2008 6:30 pm ET

I don't know how this poll is accurate. Americans are tired of the Iraq war and McCain wants to continue it until our non-achievable mission is completed. Barack Obama wants to end the Iraq war slowly and safely (not immediately like McCain said Obama would do).

Marc PDX   June 23rd, 2008 6:27 pm ET

The war on terror will probably not emerge as the top issue before the election (we're well protected currently), but it probably will after the election when Obama let's our guard down. Too late, but it'll be the will of the people...

Andrew and Mike, just say no to drugs, and get yourselves checked into a rehabilitation clinic, now. They are seriously warping your brains, and you need serious help. The last 7 1/2 years have not been good for America. And Obama thinks he is the democratic nominee for President of the United States. And he will win in November. And he is right.

obama's just a smooth-talking, clueless phony who prays on people's emotions.

Belle   June 23rd, 2008 6:21 pm ET

Let's see....so far Senator Obama has broken his word on fund-raising, and has flopped on NAFTA, then says that the Republicans will try and make us afraid of him because he is black.

Doesn't he realize the reason we are afraid is because he does NOT keep his word, his policies are going to cost tons of money, and America will not be able to pay for it without higher taxes in every single corner?

He also sponsored a bill to cut down global poverty that will send billions overseas...

When will the government get it that the money now needs to be spent at HOME first? Instead of giving billions to the UN, who did NOT help with the war in Iraq, perhaps those billions should be spent to help build the US economy, rebuild the infrastructure, help the flood victims and rebuild the levees in New Orleans. What about all of the folks that did not have flood insurance or lost their homes in fires or tornadoes?

Do we see money from all over the world pouring in to help us out?
I think not. Sometimes you just have to reinvest in home first.

Unfortunately, NEITHER candidate wants to do that.

Jonathan   June 23rd, 2008 6:19 pm ET

Wolf, find another story to stir up controversy and hatred. Trying to rehash old news story about Barack Obama and asking where is the support from Pres. Bill Clinton because you have nothing at all substantive to report. No one in the Obama camp is thinking about when the former Pres. will announce his support of Sen. Obama. Get a new job Wolf!

Why dont you back up some of your ridiculous statements with some facts!!! Oh, wait, you probably dont have any. Republicans for Obama   June 23rd, 2008 5:59 pm ET

McCain is a one trick pony. His so called "expertise" is on an issue with which the majority of Americans disagree with him. He and his fellow party members treat our soldiers as if they were expendable pieces on a chessboard. Obama seems to be of a much more sound mind and will thus be getting the vote of this moderate Republican and many others like me.

Robin B   June 23rd, 2008 5:58 pm ET

I would like to see a liberal in the White House. However, Obama is just too inexperienced to be President. He really has not done anything that great in the Senate. And, even though I don't really care whether or not he takes public funding, I do care whether he keeps his word. He said he would take public funding, and I think he ought to do what he said. Also, I don't think he should have let Rezko help him out by buying the lot next door; it was an unethical deal.

I don't agree with McCain on any of the issues; I can't vote for him. I don't know what to do about this predicament.

Because he's smart and intelligent . MACCAIN IS NOT AN EXEMPLE FOR OUR YOUNG CHILDREN HE DIDN'T HAVE AN EDUCATION, A MASTER DEGREE ONLY OF MILITARY AND MCCAIN WAS BORN IN PANAMA AND HIS WIFE STOLE DRUGS HOW CAN I VOTE FOR MCCAIN. NEVER MACCAIN BECAUSE I NEED EXAMPLE FOR MY CHILDREN FUTURE ABOUT HIS EDUCATION.

Glad to see that most Americans can see a true leader for the continuous war on terror. This war will continue for many years to come and we need a strong, confident leader to stand up to the forces of evil.

McCain will narrow the gap regarding health care, tax reform and energy once he gets to debate Obama and the public comes to the realization that Obama is promising everything and has no way to pay for his programs without killing the economy and raising taxes on EVERYONE.

Rocky

bernj   June 23rd, 2008 5:54 pm ET

What war on terror? There is no war on terror. There is a war by the repug government on the constitution and individual liberty.

Terrorists are real and need to be dealt with. However, the constant erosion of the constitutional rights of American citizens for the war on terror...or the war on drugs...or the war on whatever the govenments decides creates fear......is not worth it. I want to be safe but I want to be free too.

John McCain, because the last 7 years have been so good for America and Americans!

Independent-woman-4-Obama   June 23rd, 2008 5:52 pm ET

I am amazed that people are supporting McCain, and that the margin is so narrow. The Republicans have done a lot to hurt our nation but people are not aware of what's coming if McCain wins this election.

More war, possibly with Iran, since we will need to secure even more oil!

Growing national debt, obviously people don't care that we owe over $10 TRILLION TO CHINA, SAUDI ARABIA AND DUBAI.

More of the same......... we need to wake up people!

Republican who loves OBAMA   June 23rd, 2008 5:49 pm ET

Welcome back Senator Clinton! You look amazing! Can't wait to see you on the stump with OBAMA! Now, for all of her former supporters still hurting from the primaries, I feel your pain, I have always loved and admired Senator Clinton, but she lost and as a TRUE DEMOCRAT we have to support the nominee, which is Senator OBAMA. Think with your head, and not your heart when you vote in November. If you truly supported Senator Clinton and her values, those are the same as OBAMA's, a vote for McCain is a slap in the face against Senator Clinton. Think about that, he does not share true Democratic values, in fact he depises them. He does not have the experience or your best interests at heart.

What!!! McBush is stronger on the war on terror?! My God people. McBush wants to start World war three with Iran while we have all of our Army tied up in a useless war in Iraq. His own Generals have told him that this would be suicide. McBush sings crazy little songs about bombing Iran. McBush does not know the difference between a Sunni and a Shiite (or care). McBush is a foriegn affairs nightmare and will screw up the war on terror more than Bush has.

Older white woman for OBAMA!   June 23rd, 2008 5:43 pm ET

Terrorism is the republicans bread and butter. It’s the ONLY thing they think they can use to win this election. The irony is that they’ve single handedly made the country a lot MORE vulnerable to terrorism. It’s like a business model to them. The breed hatred and radicals across the globe so they can stay in business.

There is one HUGE flaw in the study that Obama has more educated voters on his side. 99% of our education systems promote liberal idealism to young America so it is only logical that the most liberal candidate receive the votes from the most liberal Americans.. Education provides knowledge, but not necessary intelligence. Remember the average American scores 25 points over mentally retarded on the IQ test and many of those go off to receive college degrees. I know someone who is highly intelligent with an IQ of 150 and never graduated from high school, yet they have written numerous books, own their own very successful company and are no supporters of Obama. I also know people who have an average IQ with a Doctorates degree and are supporting Obama. I myself am in-between the two with a BA Degree and not supporting either candidate.

I have been asking this question for a long time.WHY DO HILLARY SUPPOTERS HATE OBAMA WITH SUCH VERNOM? Where exactly is their anger coming from? Is it racism, subconcious-racism,sexism or just pure Satanism? I wonder! Can I challenge them to tally the number of times he spoke good about Hillary versus HER about HIM. Tally their negative ads also. They must not confuse Obama with the DNC, the media or the SUPER DELAGATES. The man is just good. Hillary is good also. Its them who are developing a 'coronary' and not OBAMA. I seriuosly hope none of them are Christians, or else they must consider forming a SATANIST movement. In fairness Hillary has had a long time in politics, and this is a chance for others. Those who are against CHANGE please go and leave in ZIMBABWE and prove your resolve.

Kevin in Dallas, think about it sweetie it is Public Finance, I send $100.00 a month to his campaign I am the public and if he is trying not to be like that old Washington then don't do what they normally do and thats using that fund. McCaine have a problem with it because the people that support him does not send money to him like Obama's supporters do And the real problem is that he know Obama will out campagin him finacially. I am more concern about gas, people loosing there homes, jobs, war and education, those are my concerns. And I bet you one thing if McCains had received the amount of money like Obama he would opt out too, believe that.

Obama has no knowledge of much of anything.
He's a Chicago nobody.
McCain will win this election because we want to be safe.

Obama has weak morals.
Obama still hasn't discussed his "non practicing" muslim father that might effect the international view of the US.

Obama also has the Reverend Wright and his anti American racist hanging on his neck.

Most people are not going to forget this issue, whether the media discusses it now or not.

It would be as bad as having McCain having the KKK attached to him and then never discussing it.
Obama is still being vetted.

Obama is radical.
Obama is just plain scary.

It would be nice if people actually knew things about war, politics, and the world. Most people know nothing about Iraq but still complain about it. Fact of the matter is that Obamas plan to rapidly pull our troops out will cause WW3. As soon as, we are out without a stable government in Iraq a civil war will errupt between the Sunni and Shia and Iran will join the fight to help the Shia because they are perdominately Shia. This will be a bloody civil war seeing that the war between Iran and Iraq during Saddam's rule was so bloody. At the same time the Kurds in the north will attempt to establish their own state, but Turkey which has brutal surpressed the Kurds in its country will quickly and violently take over the Kurdish state because it has vowed to do this to prevent its own Kurds from attempting to break away and join the Kurdish state. In addition to this, there is the possibility that countries around Iraq will jump in to try to lay a claim on the country's oil supply. The U.S. and U.N. will have to move in to protect the Iraq people from genocide. And yes the U.S. will have to go in because we seem to be the only state capable of winning World Wars with low losses.

God Bless our brave troops. They are heroes protect our freedom everyday. Thank you all for what you do and sacrifice for us.

lil   June 23rd, 2008 4:40 pm ET

This is why black let it slip that a terrorist attack would help mccain j
win, thank you Mr Black and Wolf for letting us know what your stratigy
to win in november.

Michael Ray Thompson   June 23rd, 2008 4:39 pm ET

Wow, your poll is amazing. John McCain is an experienced. war hero Republican. Barak Obama is a rookie U.S, Senator from Illonois. These polls will be all over the place. John McCain will be the next President!

Johnny in NYC   June 23rd, 2008 4:39 pm ET

All McCain voters should also have to enlist to fight the war in Iraq. Come on people stand and truly believe in your candidate and his views. You can vote for a college kid to sacrifice their life but you wouldn't do the same?????

craig Startt   June 23rd, 2008 4:37 pm ET

Hey John Smith
How about the COUNTRY instead of the DEMS? How about America instead of " the Party?"

Can we just be American?   June 23rd, 2008 4:37 pm ET

One would think McSame will win when it comes to the war on terror as that is the makeshift war that Bush instigated and got us in this big mess and now we are in Iraq versus kicking behind in Afghanistanyes I am sure if Americans become bedazzled by MsSame stating that he will keep us safe kind of like Bush then he will be the favorite ... If that happens though I will loose all faith in America and the lost of credibility we have in the world will be well deserved....

NickNas   June 23rd, 2008 4:36 pm ET

WOW!! REALLY??

Hey Wolf I am looking for work. Seeing that your team is getting paid so much by CNN to come up OBVIOUS Things like " 2 guys going for office from different parties are strong on different issues" I would like to submit my resume. Lately all I have seen from your team is the obious or old news or simplt re runs of issues that are old and tired. I can help. I am sure I can do no worse than your tired crew.

Oh yes ... I am sorry but I will NOT suck up to the Clintons as shamelessly as you do , that might be a deal breaker.

craig Startt   June 23rd, 2008 4:35 pm ET

And OBAMA is for what? Based on his background and experience doing WHAT? And his friends advise will come from WHO?
PUHLEEZE.....Hillary at least has an answer to these questions.

Fitz   June 23rd, 2008 4:28 pm ET

CNN, air the video of McCain saying he didn't really love America until he was deprived of her company. C'mon air it, I know you've seen it because I have. Maybe that's why John and Cindy stopped saying it you think? because it came out. Well talk about it for a month or 2 like you did with Michelle. C'mon do it be fair.

terry   June 23rd, 2008 4:26 pm ET

What about Obama? "Mr. Right Judgment" is already flip-flopping. Who knows what this 'unknown' will do in the WH. He may flip-flop with the terrorist dictators. At least with McCain, we know that he will stand by his word. I trust McCain with National Security. If Obama is President, the only "Change" you will have will be in your Pockets. The only way he can pay for all the change that he wants is through higher taxes. He is the most radical of the senators on the Hill. And get this, he wants to tout the properous years during the Clinton-era as a campaign motivator. Wasn't he the one that criticized Hillary for what her husband did? Now he wants to give credit to what her husband did? Mr. Flip Flop Obama is at it again. Go figure.

Mike, Syracuse, NY   June 23rd, 2008 4:26 pm ET

@joe. Wait what has Obama done period? Oh right, NOTHING!!! He's the most unqualified candidate in at least 100 years. Standard Obama challenge: name one legislative accomplishment in the US Senate?

MLG   June 23rd, 2008 4:23 pm ET

I am picking McCain because I don't trust Obama. McCain 08

Deb   June 23rd, 2008 4:21 pm ET

I think Senator Obama needs to educate people on the problems as they exist in Afghanistan. Needs to show how Senator McCain and all his foreign policy experience still focuses on the war in Iraq as we lose the battle against Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan.

American Me   June 23rd, 2008 4:20 pm ET

If this poll is accurate, then the American people must really love war-

Because that's McCains answer to everything: bomb bomb bomb

Dennis   June 23rd, 2008 4:19 pm ET

I'm still waiting for an answer to this question. What is McCain going to do that is soooo different from GWB? He still supports GW's tax cuts and where has that got us?

He has no plan for college. Obama? $4000 tax deduction.

He wants to drill off shore even though the oil companies still have millions of acres available on their current leases that they will not drill. Obama has a long term plan for alternative fuel sources.

He is for continuing the Iraq war. Obama is for ending it.

I'm open minded. I believe in voting for someone who has my interests, so please Mr/Ms McCain supporter, enlighten me.

no mccain   June 23rd, 2008 4:18 pm ET

the only reason mccain is leading on the war on terror because the gop are good in using fear to scary the american people.

Kevin in Dallas   June 23rd, 2008 4:16 pm ET

I simply love how Democrats are trying to paint a guy who spent years on end as a POW as a war monger. Has there ever been a presidential candidate with a better understanding of the cost of war?

Obama's a great orator, but I'm starting to question his "change you can believe in" since he's tactics are no differant. Mention your opponent and the current President in the same sentence as much as possible. Make promises you don't keep and then lie about why (public financing). Now he's playing the race card to raise money. Now I'm not saying McCain is any better in that regard, but I actually believed Obama for a while. But this all day sucker is worn down to the soggy white stick.

gl   June 23rd, 2008 4:12 pm ET

Wolf, I am not buying that one! McCain is out of touch on the war on terrorist.

independent thought   June 23rd, 2008 4:11 pm ET

The Federalist... one word... idiot

John Smith   June 23rd, 2008 4:10 pm ET

Please, please, let the "bitter" and uninformed (and racially motivated) Hillary supporters not vote for Obama; let them throw their votes at McCain and watch their dreams and hopes go down the drain!

These "bitter" voters should not be encouraged or begged to vote for Obama. For the educated and informed DEM, the primaries have always been about:
1. The party, not the candidate
2. The issues, not the candidate (gender, race or otherwise)
3. The White House, not the candidate

This is about winning the White House, gaining control to address issues of interest to DEMS, if people cannot see this as the goal, please let them vote for McCain! Let this nonsense and baby-talk stop!

ANGIE   June 23rd, 2008 4:09 pm ET

DONT LET THEM USE FEAR AND BIN LADEN TAPES DONT FALL FOR IT AGAIN WE DID WITH BUSH AND LOOK WHERE WE ARE TODAY PLEASE PEOPLE DONT FALL INTO THE FEAR MONGERING TRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JC FROM NJ   June 23rd, 2008 4:09 pm ET

I will vote for McCane because he promised he would send me and three of my closest friends the beautiful Baghdad Springs Resort. He said It would be a working vacation. I wonder what he meant by that?
McCane in 08!

Charlie Black just said another attack will benefit McCain. He's a senior advisor.

PAUL MOONEY   June 23rd, 2008 4:06 pm ET

Would it be possible ,one day on your show, to explain to the American public why nothing has been done in 35 years (since the Arab oil embargo) to produce not only alternative sources of energy but also make much more efficient cars? McCain wants to reward someone for buiding a better battery, but why now and not in 1973-2008? The was a lot of finger pointing between the two parties in 1973 and today the blame game continues but nothing has come from it. Please explain why.

Thank you

joe   June 23rd, 2008 4:06 pm ET

Wait... what has McCain done to make us safer from terrorists?

Oh, right. Nothing.

Look for a tape of Bin Laden or an invasion of IRAN from the Bush administration coming to a T.V. screen near you. Maybe they can dig up Tom Ridge to revive his useless color-coded terror alerts.

JVD   June 23rd, 2008 4:03 pm ET

WHY DID THE MEDIA STOP REPORTING ON OUR TROOPS CASUALTIES IN IRAQ????????? WE DON'T CARE ABOUT ALL THIS CRAPS; WE WANT THEM BACK HOME.

ALLBAMALLTHETIME   June 23rd, 2008 4:03 pm ET

The War in Terror is a FARCE. So, you mean to tell me that McCain is excelling in an issue that isn't even REAL? You'd better pay CLOSE attention as more of McCellan's testimony is elicited...

James from Richmond   June 23rd, 2008 4:03 pm ET

Only we Americans would think that just because someone likes to fight wars that he or she would be a good general. The greatest warriors do their fighting before they get onto the battlefield and they don't even have to draw their weapon.
War mongering has led us this far I wonder where else we will be going?
Iran,China, North Korea bring them all on!

Brian   June 23rd, 2008 3:56 pm ET

To The Federalist:

That's funny in your rant you gave no FACTS.... hahahahaha...

Cynthia   June 23rd, 2008 3:56 pm ET

Wolf, if the truth be told Senator McCain scares me more about the war on terror than other issues. I can always adjust my budget or whatever to what he were to do.

Taylor   June 23rd, 2008 3:52 pm ET

This thing is a done deal, but people like Wolf (who hates Obama) will spin the numbers to try to use them at McCain's advantage. Wolf is a big disappointment. He does not want to say anything positive about Obama without adding a "but...."
He is the Mount Everest of bad journalism along with Dobbs, the Foxies and Scaborough.

"In America, anyone can become president. That’s the problem." – George Carlin

CW4Barak   June 23rd, 2008 3:48 pm ET

Well if the American people allow the Republicans to scare them into voting them back into the White House because of the "war on terrorism" then we and not McBush have hit our heads....because we did that the last time and look where it got us. I am more interested in why I am paying over $4/gal for gas, can't pay for college, can barely buy food or clothes, why all my neighbors are foreclosing on their homes, why my friends are either losing their jobs or can't find any, why our brothers and sisters are dying in a war that was unnecessary, and why billions of my tax payer money is being wasted in a country that I really don't care about (Iraq) every day!

So that's why this year we are less interested in the people of Iraq and more interested in the welfare of the people in the USA who are suffering badly!!

Annette   June 23rd, 2008 3:48 pm ET

It's a shame that on the subject of war, McCain does better. I would prefer a president that has a well-rounded strength in all areas of importance, because it should take good reason to go to war in the first place, anybody can command our troops to go fight, however, it takes a great leader to decide when to fight. I hope folks really take that to heart in November.

The Federalist   June 23rd, 2008 3:45 pm ET

It's funny how anyone could possibly believe that Obama would be better than McCain on health care, the economy , energy and taxes, when his "answer" to all of these problems is socialism.

For all of Obama's talk about the many "great new ideas" he has, it all smells of warmed-over, already-failed-many-times socialism. But then again we have to keep in mind that for many in this country, and many around the globe, socialism (like "global climate change") is a religion at best, a cult at worst. This is a cult belief and trying to debate someone about the utter failure of socialism everyplace and every time it's ever been tried, is like debating religion... it's a deeply help "belief" that you can't talk these people out of, regardless of the FACTS to the contrary.

Hey, Socialism has only killed 100 million people... let's give it another try!

big ed   June 23rd, 2008 3:45 pm ET

I've heard many Republicans accuse John Kerry for being a traitor to his country in April 1971, when he testified before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee about the atrocities committed by US troops in Vietnam.... a war based on lies. Today we have many Democrats who feels the same way towards John McCain, who surrendered military information to his NVA captives during his 5 years there since 1967 Hanoi, Vietnam.

By the way, since John McCain wishes to flaunt his POW status before the American people, while running for president against Obama, I feel that facts about his POW events are fair game to discuss, IMHO.

ProundToBeRepublican   June 23rd, 2008 3:44 pm ET

Most Americans do not know what a real war looks like, most think it is like a cowboy movie or video game they have not faced reality of real war specialy republicans who try to make you beleive they are tough they can destroy the terrorist in a day, bring democracy in Iraq in few months, could wipe Irab from the face of the earth in a day all this tough talk is a wishful thinking we have seen it in 8 years bush admistration made matter worst the terrorists are strong than ever, iran is stronger than ever, iraq war still a disaster , but still some idiots think Mccain which is third term of bush would handle war on terror better than Obama it is sad you can not get any more ignorant than this.

johnny   June 23rd, 2008 3:42 pm ET

Blame Bush!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amarissa   June 23rd, 2008 3:40 pm ET

Every poll will change day by day as Obama continues to back up on his "Change" promises! He is the worst of the worsts! Not only unqualified but the biggest LIAR in the history of our nation.
NOBAMA! unless you want a "Change" for the WORST!
Amarissa,
Miami, Florida

@everyamericans   June 23rd, 2008 3:39 pm ET

Wolf,

the only thing that americans are hoping to change between now and November is the economy. And John McCain and George Bush doesn't have a clue as to how to fix the economy, the mortgage crisis and high gas pricess!

they are only proposing to drill for more oil; same excuse they gave for going into Iraq: OIL. In essence, they want to create more jobs for big oil companies, increase their record breaking profits, and give oil companies more tax breaks, while shipping our jobs overseas!

I think the american people have had enough of George Bush and the republican economic pandering. Time for Change is Now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TJ Johnson   June 23rd, 2008 3:39 pm ET

Obama offers prosperity to issues such as government-financed education and government-controlled health programs, government-forced ruination of private enterprises, government forced downscaling of American private lives to "eliminate global warming"; government-forced downscaling of auto purchases; government takeover of oil production companies; increased taxation on the "wealthy" to give to non-workers of America, and on and on. These are not American ideals at all. In fact, I can easily say that are socialistic - perhaps even communistic. Please, American, not Obama. He's all bad except for his talk, talk, talk.

Mike   June 23rd, 2008 3:39 pm ET

Obama sure has some people buffaloed.

From what he has shown me; Obama is clueless on the economy, taxes, and energy. He needs to go back to school.

i just don't understand why people have so much faith in him in these areas.

Or maybe his followers are even more clueless than Obama is about these matters.

After all, I have seen some pretty bumb statements made by his followers on the blog.

Doris,Memphis,TN   June 23rd, 2008 3:37 pm ET

McCain is leading on the war on terror because Americans know he will bomb! bomb! bomb!

Charlie, Odenton, MD   June 23rd, 2008 3:35 pm ET

Unfortunately for McCain, he is in the shadow of this current administration, and getting out of it is going to be rough. Does anyone see the economy not being the #1 issue. Heck by November we might be talking about major airlines having to close shop, which mean 25000+ jobs out the window as well.

Keep battling McCain, we need your wisdom and tough-minded attitude in the White House!!

R.I.F.   June 23rd, 2008 3:34 pm ET

Considering the fact that McCain's top adviosr Charlie Black staated bluntly that an attack on the US would benifit McCain greatly, I'm expecting to see Bin Laden tapes rolled out one per week until November. Voterss would be stupid to fall for this rove strategy again.

Al, NY NY   June 23rd, 2008 3:34 pm ET

If that's the case in terms of the war on terror, look for a "last-minute" incident to "rally" everyone around JM, probably around mid-late October,. Maybe even Osama Bin Laden formerly "public enemy #1" but demoted to an afterthought will mireaculously be caught

Bulldog   June 23rd, 2008 3:32 pm ET

Obama supports reversing the "Enron Loophole" while McCain supports it. McCain's economic advisor is the one who created the loophone in 2000 while his wife was on the board of directors at Enron and received almost $1 million in less than a year. This loophole is THE major reason for the extreme oil and gas prices and John McCain supports it. It allows corrupt commodity futures traders to manipulate oil and gas prices oversees because this loophole took away crucial government oversight and regulation to stop these traders from manipulating any types of commodities. The same thing is now starting to happen with food prices traded in futures commodities. John McCain and Obama are on complete different ends of this issue.

Blame Bush   June 23rd, 2008 3:28 pm ET

The polling on domestic issues was actually between Obama and Bush.

PS from Tennessee   June 23rd, 2008 3:28 pm ET

Get ready for WW-III. McShame will be singing "Bomb, Bomb, Bomb Iran". "W" got re-elected based on fear! I hope this country is not that stupid to fall for that again!!!!!!!!!!!

Ray Victory   June 23rd, 2008 3:28 pm ET

The "War on Terror" ... what does that mean ???

How many Americans have an informed view of what this means??

Isn't the W"War on Terror the one in Afghanistan? The war McCain has forgotten about?

Simon Sczywhek   June 23rd, 2008 3:27 pm ET

Didnt polls show most people wanted OUT of Iraq? McCain says he doesn't care how long the US stays there even if it's 100 years. Obama said he wants to pull the troops out and he would be carefull doing it.

Seems like McCain supporters need a education
