Why do the Republicans want us to Die...be afraid....be ATTACKED?
ALL for an election? It not just okay that 3,000 people died on 9/11..it's not just okay we've gone to war and 163,000 (+) of our young people stand in harms way and 4,000 (+) have died for a war that should not have been authorized, it's not just okay for these people to get on TV and mislead us, its not just okay that so many people died in flood waters in New Orleans, Its not just okay to introduce people like Rev. Wright to the public based on a few sound bites, that may not reflect his views, but can be controversial if taken out of context....IT JUST NOT OKAY FOR THE LAST 7 Years that have put us in a recession, caused a major housing problem, and put over 300,000 fellow Americans out of work.

What do these people want from us? Why do they continue to target our biggest concern another Attack to change our perception on he can lead us better? THIS IS JUST A JOB.

I don't see how anyone can justify these comments. Obama's advisor Samantha Powers was fired for calling Clinton a monster, even though a lot of people agree. What Black said is what a lot of people agree with; however, the media called for Obama to fire an UNPAID ADVISOR. Black is McCain's SENIOR ADVISOR, yet the calls for his firing have yet to surface. McCain has had more gaffes, misstatements, blunders, flip flops, and out right lies since this election started, yet the media seems hypnotized by his baby back ribs or something, because he's never called on any of it. Then Obama detractors accuse the media of being in the tank for Obama. I don't understand how anyone could say that after the media spent a month discussing Obama's pastor at a church he rarely attended.

I just wish people would just come out and say why they're really not voting for Obama. I'd feel better. I appreciate honest bigots, racists, and rednecks. I'm from the South, so I guess I'm used to honest racists.

It was a trick question.

if he said no it would seem like he doubted McCains abilities in a crisis and if he said yes it gets spun into McCain wants another terrorist attack.

The only correct answer is "No one benefits from terrorist attacks, however, if one were to occur it would simply be another means by which Senator McCain could prove his experience trumps Senator Obama's blind, naive optimism."

Leslie Sanchez is so one dimensional she is the worst annalist CNN has. If someone like Charlie Black says something as crazy as he did and then apologizes for it he should be commended, but if someone from the Democratic side said anything like that the world would be coming to a end. I like to pride my self for listening to every side, even though i am a die hard Democrat, most Republican annalists get there point across with out demonizing the other side. but Leslie Sanchez represents all that is evil with the republican party AND SHES ONLY A ANNALIST!! its people like Leslie Sanchez, Charlie Black, and McCain that help the people really see what the Republican party represents. BIG MONEY, BIG BUSINESS, LIES LIES LIES!

"how many terrorist attacks have the us suffered since bush went after them. how many sleepless nights have you lain awake wondering if the will attack again.like it or not if some unfortunate terrorist attack should occur i sure wouldn't want obama trying to talk them to death give me a man not someone who rides other people's coattails"

How many American's died from terrorist attacks on the Democratic watch? How many more Americans died in Iraq compared to 9/11? Why hasn't Bin Laden been caught??? Bush has all the might and power of the greatest country on Earth and our allies and we can't catch one man????

It's amazing how few McCain supporters have logged on to make comments about this insight into the Republican mindset. Maybe it's because Black did in fact tell the truth. It relates so well to all of the terror alerts we had with Bush.

People wake up. The Republicans want you to live in fear.

The people trying to excuse Black's comment would have been calling for Obama's head for not firing the guy 2 seconds after the comment was made.

This is insight into the people that McCain has surrounded himself with.

Sad. But true.

Why not frighten Americans into keeping the Republicans in power.

Domestic terrorism has been used to oppress Americans for centuries: immigrants, women, Blacks. Why not use it to control other voting groups: Whites, men, West Virginians, Ohioans, Floridians, etc.

Why not?

Mr. Black - I doubt you're truly sorry. I think you're sorry your words weren't taken as they would have been in 2000 - or 2004.

Fear mongering - just one of the many reasons I won't vote gop.

So typical of McCain and the people he surrounds himself with. Black is a disgrace and now McCain has disgraced himslef by not firing Black as a senior advisor. The longer the Presidential election goes on, McCain will more clearly show himslef for what he is....a warmonger, a flip flopper, a man who cheated on his first wife, a Senator who used his power and influence to keep Cindy out of jail for stealing drugs, and an old man who has lost his bearing. McCain is totally ignorant in matters of the economy. His Viet Nam POW hero status and military experience do not equate at all with the abilty and intelligence to be Commander in Chief. We have a history of Presidents who were failures who had military experience. With McCain, you continue four more years of Bush's eight years of failures both at home and at war.

Are you sure you don't know why he said that? Maybe because that's something you guys discuss in our senior advisor meetings. Please, we all know that you think something like that would benefit you. I'm sure this too will go away, because all things negative against McCain doesn't stick.

We've had 5 years of this crap. Terror Alerts hyped when a political agenda needed to be accomplished. Is Charlie Black, the new Karl Rove and Friends that like to use the American real fear of being attacked against us to win this election.

NO NOT THIS TIME. NOT THIS YEAR. BUSH HAD HIS TURN.

John McCain should fire this man along with Phil Graham if he wants to show he can break from Bush tactics.

Obama 2008 is now my man.

The reporter asked the question. The answer was merely pragmatic.

Had It been a democrat asked if Barack would do better if an attack occured the answer likely would be no. Why? because he has no understanding of terror and no understanding of poor policy dealings with our lurking enemies. Barack buys his favors. He learned from Rezko how to do that.

This is what they do (Republicans)! This is why John Kerry lost, the Republicans will lie just to get back to the White House and put fear in the American people. Democrats will unite and beat those war mongering evil doers. Charlie Black should be fired. 4,000 plus of our innocent young men/women have been killed by these lies that the Republicans have brought forth. No more lies, no more Republicans! It's time for our country to be led by a democratic administration for the people; not just the rich and well-connected.

"Asked if McCain would stand to benefit from a terrorist attack on U.S. soil" The key word is he was "asked" by the reporter if it would benifit him. He wasn't calling for an attack. The fact that you can read so much into so little is humorus. And yes if attacked it would be an advantage because he has the experiance to deal with it. I'm a true Bush hater but we need experiance with McCain to deal with and change the US and not some fairy tale of change with an idealogogy that just won't work..

There you have: the fake patriots are wishing that some of their brothers will die, so that their right wing man keeps the power.

Well, Bush surely profited in 2004 from the 9/11 attacks in 2001...
PNAC even told in 2000 that a new Pearl Harbour would transform the army for the better...well, they got what they hoped for...

If, god forbid, there were a terrorist attack before the fall elections it would only demonstrate what a failure the Republicans have been at the helm of this country for the last eight years.

We Americans understand that Bush/Cheney et. al. have NOT succeeded in capturing Bin Laden, did NOT pursue the terrorists in Afghanistan, and have made us LESS safe by waging a destabilizing war in Iraq!

Americans cannot be fooled any longer by the Republicans playing the "fear" card.

We are no longer in the paralyzied mind set post 9/11 in this country. And YES we folks out here understand a new political reality when it comes to "who can keep us safer; McCain or Obama?"

The answer is simple, obvious, and not as complicated as pundits are making it; a Democrat will keep us safer.

An unfortunate terrorist attack before the elections will vividly show that Republicans cannot be trusted to keep us safe. A Republican President only created more terrorists around the world because of the Iraq war, and McCain and his party have failed miserably after 8 long years!

Why doesn't he put politics aside at a time when his advisor summons the images of 9/11 all over again and just say, "I strenously disagree, I am sorry he said this, and he will be fired." It's not always about you McBush; sometimes it is about the American people.

Why is John McCain a hero? For having survive his plane going down? What or how that enhanced his fellow comrades in arms or benefited the US war effort? For having lived out the war, without risk to his life in the Hanoi Hilton were they even wanted to release him for being the son of a US navy almiral? How did they learned that? For having said he only came to love America when was deprived of her? he said it several different times.
The real heroic thing to have done was to accept release and go back to fight, but I guess it was safer been in protective custidy.

I knew someone in the rethug party was going to slip sooner or later. Folks, we are fighting a war on terror indeed. It is the repugs, always has been. Bush calling everybody the axis of evil, when he has demonstrated that he is who he condemns.

I can't wait until President O initiates Nuremburg trials Round 2 against these war criminals and puts them away permanently. After all, he is a civil rights lawyer.

It show's how out of touch they are. Hillary did it last month with the Bobby Kennedy statement.

Everyone knows that a terrorist attack would benefit McCain. That doesn't take a great deal of genius to understand. However, no one thought the McCain campaign would be dumb enough to come out and say so. When you need the tragedy of a terrorist attack to inspire people to vote for you it signals how pathetic your stance is on the issues.

I'm an Obama supporter and I don't think Black meant anything negative by his comment. The question was a leading question and I understand what Black was trying to say even though I may disagree that McCain is better for our country. Don’t let fear tactics win this election for McCain.

Needless to say OBAMA '08!!!!

i just cannot get over the fact that you have missed the point. WE ARE IN AN ILLEGAL WAR THAT IS KILLING U.S. TROOPS FOR NO REASON. Progress??? Have we solved the religious aspect of the cause and effect of this country, or the entire middle east??? didn't we have the crusades a few years ago and did england solve these religious factors??? MAKING PROGRESS in what??? we should get the hell out of there and let the country manage itself. when they kill each other after we are long gone is that progress???

i am a vet. my dad was an officer in WWII, uncle tommy jones a west point grad and war hero in korea. and i say---there is no pride in winning a criminal offense and to talk about progress is like bank robbers talking about how they help their families and even some scraps to the poor.

this is out of whack that you would write about progress when bush and the entire administration needs to face a Nuremberg trail just like after WWII--why were the german's on trial--they invaded places they had no business doing and tortured prisoners and and and, but there was progress??? they invented the Volkswagen for all of us. our space program. DON'T WE EVER LEARN.???

final note, a thousand years from now these countries will be at war with each other and also religious wars within their own country. AND SOME IDIOT WILL WRITE ABOUT THE PROGRESS IN IRAQ, OR IRAN, OR WHEREVER.

let the republican fear mongering begins!

Charlie Black, who is a renowned lobbyist for the worlds worst dictators is conjuring up this fear-tactics?!

It just shows that at this time when the american economy is in the tank, gas prices skyrocketing and morgage meltdown is on the upswing, the republicans cannot run on the issues, but would rather invoke another terrorist attack!

the republicans feed off of evil terrorist attacks & wars that do us nothing but misery and pain at the gas pump!

Time for CHANGE IS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"McCain has the right stuff. Mr Black was wrong to make such a statement and John McCain let him know in the harshest way possible. Presidential material all the way."

I'm sorry did he fire Black. That would be the harshest way. Being a prisoner of war and enemy sympathizer while P.O.W. doesn't make you Presidential.
