Obama’s presidential seal gone after one use

The Obama campaign is no longer using the above logo.

(CNN) – Barack Obama’s communications director said Monday that the presidential seal the campaign unveiled last week at a meeting with Democratic governors won’t be seen again.

“That was a one time thing for a one time event," Robert Gibbs told CNN.

Pegged to Obama’s rostrum at Friday’s meeting was his campaign’s version of the presidential seal – a bald eagle clutching an olive branch and arrows in its talons, but instead of a shield covering the center of the eagle’s body, Obama’s had the campaign’s trademark “O.” Rather of the words “Seal of the President of the United States” around the circumference, “Obama for America” and “www.barackobama.com” lined the top and bottom.

The Latin “Vero Possumus” was arched between the eagle’s wings, meaning “Yes we can,” an Obama slogan and rally chant.

Many wondered whether a seal – with Latin phrasing no less – was the best idea for a candidate fighting for the working class vote and trying to fend off allegations of elitism.

It was very arrogant. Maybe he's learned. I cant beleive that the RNC treats bob bar better than DNC treated Hillary.

    His arrogance bested him.

This man is a false leader who rose by race baiting and cheating.

Thank goodness. That was the worst move I have seen from the Obama team this campaign season. It was such a bad taste for whomever designed it. I hope we don't ever see it again.

Still love the man though and I am glad he is not shaking about giving up Public financing. Staying with we the people instead of lobbyists is a great move.

What a dumb mistake that was and a waste of money. He really does not have the experience or smarts to be President. Who would be so arrogant to place his own Presidential seal in front of his podium and try to psychologically have the country see him as the president?! He must think we are all sheep. God, this guy is scarier than GWB.

Obama has gotten away with every arrogant and smug thing so far.

This one really crossed the line.

They need to reign in their boastful mission accomplished stance.

Look how it backfired on Bush.

    Obama = Bush.

    Obama does NOT = HRC

    McCain does NOT = Bush

The seal is gone, that is good, it was a bad marketing stradegy. I like Obama's stance on renewable energy, ethanol is a viable alternative. Illinois is the second largest producer of corn in the country. The problem is, sugar cane is 7 times more efficient. Now if Obama is as intelligent as his supporters say he is, wouldn't it make more sense to use sugar cane versus corn? But we must remember that one of Obama's largest financial supporters produces ethanol with corn, they even allowed him to use their company jet, so will he make the intelligent choice and explore using sugar cane, the obvious educated choice or will he simply stick with the less cost effective choice of corn for producing ethanol to keep his large financial backers. We ubdecided independent voters will be watching, Politics as usual or Change We Can Believe In?

"Many wondered whether a seal – with Latin phrasing no less – was the best idea..."

Who exactly is "many"? I never saw you quote anyone... And I noticed that on other networks they more or less ignored the seal, instead opting to cover what actually went on at the meeting.

It's called "substance", CNN. Give it a try sometime.

I guess the seal got thrown under the bus too – what a joke! Add this to the ever growing list of gaffes.

Sure wish Hillary was the nominee so I could feel good again about being a democrat!

The perfect combination of Latin, arrogance, slickness, and entitlement. There is nothing more appropriate for an Empty Preppy Suit. This is the inner Obama. This is not a slip or misspeak.

The person that made the idea of this seal should not be given a second chance, Geez! I'm glad it's taken down.

But I love "Vero Possumus" ;)

I personally think this was a low level design decision that someone made. Considering the fact that Obama didn't really even like the current logo that is being used because it was too "slick", I'm pretty certain when Obama walked into the room and saw that he wanted to have it taken down, but it was too late. Oh well, it's kind of funny in a way. Silly issue to be making the news in the first place.

It just showcased his true nature: entitlement and arrogance.

Never has so little in a candidate been marketed as SO much.

BRILLIANT PROPAGANA... would make Hitler proud.

Go home with your Obama SS youth.

They were the only ones fooled by you and used by you to hate and destroy the better candidate

Hillary supporter, I'm sure you mean well still trying to push Hillary as the Pres., but she lost, she quit and has endorsed Obama. If you want to keep pushing for her I can feel your pain, but from the outside looking in, when you do this on the boards, you only appear spitful, and childish. (If I you won;t let me win then I'm taking MY ball and going home. )

    lie and justify
is becoming obama's trade mark he fully intended to use that seal however seeing that it would show that he like his seal are just imitations of the real thing and prove what an elitist he is he showed his super judgment and dropped it. i hope Hillary drops him and we'll see how far he gets on his own

  25. saga for Obama

it is odd to me that a silly seal would cause such an up rise from Mr. McCain's supporters while Mr. McCain's stance or lack there of on the issuses that affect our nation go unquestioned by them. they say elitist, arrogant out of touch....i am waiting for uppity from someone. the mess we are in right now is because of a Republican House, Senate and President.... NOW LETS FIX THE MESS THEY MADE!!!!!
