So why is Obama mentioning race all the time? He did this in the primary and used it against Hillary, don't think it will work this time,we already know you are black, thats not the problem with you, it's your ethics and how you use your race . against your opponent. I think you will try to divide the country, so you can win at any cost. McClinton 08

You know its hard to tell. People will SAY race doesn't affect things, but let's be honest it does. When I read some of these blogs and it says "Hussein" and "He's too liberal, too unfamiliar" those are code words for "he's TOO different" If his name was Bob Smith instead of Barack Obama, we might be looking at a different picture. Its not to say EVERY person who doesn't support Obama is a racist, but even those people have to admit that race IS an underlying factor to some people's strong dislike or mistrust of Obama. And yes, the GOP WILL use that as a tactic in some of their ads. Just because the Obama camp points out the fact that yes, race might be used as a wedge and that we all need to pay attention to stop it, it doesn't make it whining. Its just pointing out the truth... like HRC did at the end of her Presidential bid when she said sexism played a factor? Was she whining then?

If Obama wants to win a general election, he better stop labeling people as racists who do not agree with him and his policies.

I have been called a racist for months around here because I supported Hillary Clinton. I worked in Bill Clintons campaign in 1992 and met Hillary back then, yet many Obama supporters called me racist because I supported Hillary.

This is not how you win and influence people. People vote for candidates that they trust and feel comfortable with. Obama had better start working on this or it will be to late and he will have NO one to blame except himself and his supporters.

It's a shame that the most unenlightened, bigoted people are the same group that has nothing better to do than complain about everything and leisurely vote in the middle of the day, between rounds of golf or Mahjong.

Young, educated people: the system is hosed. The "typical Republican demographic" is already living off your taxes, using a flawed system that will not provide you anything back for as much money you have been forced to put into it. Let's get out, vote -again-, just like we did in the primaries, and start stacking the deck for our future.

Is Obama The Second Coming? Nope. Is he Going To Fix Everything? Nope. But it is a fact that he brings to the table life-experiences no president has ever had before. And he's proven, at least twice, he can buck the system and succeed: even make it better.

Why not Obama? What's he going to do? Get us into a war? A recession? Tarnish our already shaky foreign policy reputation? Oops, sorry, the Republicans already did that.

I'm a white male, who's still a NCO in the US Army, by the way.

The more Obama plays the race card while pretending to do otherwise... the more supporters he loses.

He has been off message his entire campaign... agitating hate in his followers while preaching a soft message of hope, unity and change.

No one is buying what he is peddling anymore.

Too bad for Oprah, Caroline, Kerry, Ted, the media and the DNC.

Your puppet has been exposed.

Sadly, racism will always be around.
And I feel that is what makes Barack, I mean President Obama, so special, he is the perfect mix of cultures both made and mixed in the USA for us to enjoy! He will to try to save us from the perils of another four or eight years of 95% exactly the same thing.
Huge Sale at Macy's 5% percent off. That's almost free right?

•	How can you question the patriotism of a man who only made it to this point in his life because of the opportunities that AMERICA gave him? Obama is GOOD for me, GOOD for you, and GOOD for AMERICA! Yes there are racist people, and they will always exist, but they are NOT growing in numbers. America will make the right decision and vote for OBAMA because is the best candidate!

There will be some problems with race. There are some KKK and some organizations and individuals like that. But they are a small group of people and will not affect the election results. McCain campain will say Obama is too inexperienced. But I think that is not racial. Obama said his opponenets would say he was too young and inexperienced. But I think this is a reasonable debate about experiences. Of course, McCain's age should be an issue too although discriminating based on age is against civil laws. McCain would 76 when his first term ends. Is he health enough for four years?

So far the race is not an issue at all in general election. If you are honest, you should admit Obama benefited as a black during primary against Clinton. He consistenly won about 90% of black votes that are about one third of the Democratic primary voters. There are no other reasons he should win more black votes than Clinton. In fact, Clinton's universal health coverage might be good for blacks.

Some Republicans (maybe not McCain campain) will likely attack Obama out of touch with common Amercans (values), tax and spending, too liberal, not patriotic, too soft on crimes and foreign enemies, and so on. But I do not think that is racial because Republicans have attacked John Kerry, Al Gore, Mondale, and Mike Dukakis in the same way. If Obama's campain reacts to almost every attack against him as racial, it will not do anything good for him.

Obama needs to focus on issues. So far McCain campain and Republicans are only focusing on issues. If Obama's campain over reacts to every attack against him, the campain will be turned into mudsliding and that will not do him any good. A muddy election will benefit McCain more.

This is THE YEAR for CHANGE! America needs healing-- and unification. The mean-spirited gop and a few fanatical supporters of Senator Clinton can not and WILL NOT stop progress.
Our Nation has to have change....and all the old ways are thrown out and a new day in American Politics has begun. YES, WE WILL.

I celebrate the diversity of America.

But Obama will never get my vote back after all the tricks and race baiting he has done just to trash his opposition out of the running.

Obama is a farce... he uses race both as a shield and as a sword depending on what is working to his favor at any given time.

We are a mixed race society. I hope he doesn't fool anyone with this transparent ploy.

We are all so intermarried anymore that NO ONE cares about race.

It is Obama who is creating a false divide just to drum up votes by running on the race card that he claims he does not keep pulling.

He outsted HRC by playing up race and instigating a divide in the democrats... now he tried it again with the Republicans.

American negroes have an ancestery reaching farther back in American history than 95% of any other race. How long do you have to be a decendent of American ancestors to be called American?
They are not African Americans! They are American negroes!
What is wrong with being a negro? The word"negro"means black.
there is nothing demeaning about this. This is what they are called everywhere in the world in any language based on latin
The American negro is no more African that I am!
I .want to add one more thing. I will vote for an American. I will vote for Obama!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh yes,I AM WHITE

The only one who keeps bringing up race is Obama the race card player, and he is the biggest racist of them all! He sat in a hate-filled racist church for 20 years and exposed his daughters to that garbage. Obama is DISGUSTING, and I am SICK of him!

I cannot believe some of the comments I am seeing on this blog, some of you should be ashamed of yourselves. It is hard to fathom that there are still people in this day and age that are still blinded by color and ethnicity. It is hard to believe that some still hold on to this outdated and discredited ideology that one race is superior to another, that there is such a thing as pure white or pure black. It would seem that some refuse to take the blinders off, refuse to step out of your comfort zones, and refuse to educate yourselves to the facts of race, culture and ethnicity. It is a sad testament to how immature this country is when it comes to race and cultural acceptance, sad indeed.

Barak wants it to be about Race. That is why he fired a preemptory attack so that when the issue comes up and it will, he will complain about the Republicans using the Race card. and he will continue to get 90% of the Black Vote and young voters with no clue as to how race affects decisions in America.

Fortunately for us older more mature voters that went through the civil rights era and experienced the affect of race in our careers.

We will not vote for Obama because of his inexperience, his hidden agenda and his lack of respect for the white and jewish people that made it possible for him to attend Harvard Law.

And you think people are going to tell the truth on a survey like this. Usually the deep seated fears that people have don't come out in conversation. They will vote out of fear and ignorance not out of some well thought out survey response driven reason.

Why is it that people are not acknowledging that the racial attacks that Sen Obama spoke of had already begun before he spoke on the issue? We saw it here recently in Texas and for bloggers to ignore that fact is ridiculous. Of course the GOP will use race as one of many fear-based issues. Thats how Republicans win elections, by playing on the fear, hatred, and ignorance of the uninformed and uneducated. History, and empirical data show that negative attacks work on this demographic and the Republicans know this all too well.

Speaking the truth about racism is not playing the so-called race card (I hate that term since it minimizes the real issue). Those of you who have dont understand this are either not paying attention or simply dont want to own up to it. Racism is an ugly evil in our society and I hope one day we can get past this as a legitimate issue that impacts the political arena. Yes, we've made progress, but we still are not there yet and dont get defensive for me pointing it out. We've still got plenty of work to do building and mending fences.

God bless American and both candidates as we seek new leader for our country.

Anti-Obama is totally race driven

We are supposed to be a Christian nation, after reading so many of the above comments so full of hate it saddens me. What I know is that God is going to hold American accountable for its' hard-heartness.

There are too many of you that would rather the US suffer and go further down economically and spiritually than make changes that could once again put American back on top as a super power.

You are aware of the scandalous White House of the Clinton years
The lawless driven White House of Bush2
and Bush 1 was the chief in the CIA with Ollie North with the Iranian-Contra affair

Total corruption and yet you would rather that again than let a man who really loves and wants to bring about positive reform for the people of America.

I suspect that his being biracial with a predominant African-American appearance will have an impact on whether some people choose to vote for him or not. They may not be willing to state that as the reason but I'm fairly sure that race will play some role in voter preference.

Tell Bill Schneider to get a real job. He was so off the mark with his polls and predictions during the primaries. His record is about as reliable as the weatherman's.

People. If you dont like to vote for Barack Obama, please just vote for John McCain. McCain will bring troops back . Yea. That is true. But He is beating the same war drum against Iran, which is 10 times more powerful than Iraq militarily and other resources. So that he can send your kids to fight against Iran, into the middle eastern deserts.

The kids are right, there's no place in the election for racial politics. The bible say "and a child shall lead them". The kids know more than we do--open up the presidential pool to qualified candidates. That means blacks, women, hispancis, asians, native americans, etc. It means everybody. This is America, this is America.

While we've been bickering among ourselves, the kids have been living Dr. King's dream. They've been studying together, playing together, growing together and we can learn from them.

Obama has consistently run counter to his own campaign message. He created an image of himself to sell to the people... and then has behaved WORSE than the typical politician.

When you run as a new type of politician for hope unity and change….
and then you resort to all the dirty, sleazy, underhanded, back-stabbing tactics that Obama has… you foul your own image.

Playing the race card also alienated many early supporters of all races and ethnicities. Another Obama hypocrisy that cast him as a false person.

Betraying Wright to gain votes didn't help either. It proved that he lacked conviction and principles and would do whatever is necessary to win.

Finally cheating to steal the nomination from the other candidate really did not help his image or advance his message.

So… race… not a factor.

Everything els… yep… a big factor

Mr. Schneider, are you in denial? LIke so many others I know.

You've got to be kidding me if you believe that racism will not have an affect on this election. Most prominent black politicians will be quick to tell you that they must discount 20% of their electorate because of racism. Meaning they must concentrate on the remaining 80% and win an overwhelming majority of those votes.

A person who carries racism could only be considered a bad seed, nothing more, nothing less - just a bad rotten seed.

Then there is the "domino effect" that falls afterwards, and stupidity is usually the next to follow.

The End.
