Blitzer: Obama is on an ambitious quest

CNN Anchor Wolf Blitzer

CNN Anchor Wolf Blitzer

(CNN)–Barack Obama says he’s going to run a 50-state race for the White House. His aides say he will aggressively seek to make inroads in some of the traditionally Republican presidential states. It’s an ambitious quest but one that would be made easier if he raises hundreds of millions of dollars.

We’ll see in the coming weeks and months how that works out. My instinct tells me he won’t be spending lots of time in Utah and Wyoming, for example.

Still, I do think Obama will campaign actively in North Carolina and Georgia – two states with large numbers of African Americans. His campaign as well as the Democratic National Committee will try to get hundreds of thousands of new voters registered, especially African-Americans and young people. That is potentially very fertile ground for Obama and could make a critical difference in November.

Howard Dean, the chairman of the Democratic Party, was criticized in recent years by some fellow Democrats for spending scarce DNC money in some of the Republican states. He said he wanted the Democratic Party active across the United States. His critics thought that was a waste of money and time.

But now, that investment seems to have paid off. Witness the recent Democratic successes in those three special Congressional elections in Mississippi, Louisiana and Illinois where seats long held by Republicans, including the former Speaker Dennis Hastert, were captured by Democrats.

From Hilary to McCain was never a Hilary supporter. This is some silly Republican trying to keep some mess going. What's wrong with trying run a fifty state campaign. There are fifty states in this country right. That sounds smart. Also the from Hilary to McCain you are not black, so just stop it. Your postings are juvenile and silly for this kind of blog. Grow-up.

Hey JD in Ohio (home of the mullet hair cut) what would you people know, you voted for Bush twice. We don't need Michigan, Ohio or Florida this round. Your state means nothing! Obama will pick up Georgia, Wyoming, Montana and Mississippi no problem. Thank you Bob Barr the idiot from the right posing as Nader, another loser!
And would the fake Hillary supporters give it rest. Anyone with half a brain knows that no actual womens lib junkie would ever vote for a man against a woman's right to choose. Not mention unfair pay for equal work or putting more idiots on the Supreme Court. The jig is up and the lights are on. All the data shows the shift from Hillary to Obama!
President Obama rocks the robes of the Klan members (are you one...look in the mirror)

Remember Obama lost many of the last primaries. This was when people were starting to get a good look at who Obama really is. The Obama cult is going to be surprised by how big his loss is in November.

Some of you Hillary supporters really need to seek professional, mental help (i.e. those that posted on the thread in regards to Nancy Pelosi saying that Hillary may yet run again as President later on).

You're acting like an angry mob of lunatics! Do you realize that those of us who would have been happy with either candidate have been completely turned off by your mean and nasty comments towards our Party nominee? Do you think that the majority of needed voters (fellow Democrats and Independents) would want to vote her in the next time she runs knowing that, if for some reason she did not win yet again, we'd have to go through dealing with your deranged behavior yet again? I'm sad to say that I for one would be hesitant to support her in the future out of fear of how ou all would react if she didn't make it to the nomination. God knows what would have happened if she were the actual nominee and lost to McCain. I think some of you just might have physically harmed others, if not yourselves!! I'm serious because that's JUST how nutty you all are reacting and coming across on these boards.

Get some help, please. I know your family and friends have to be worried sick about your mental state... and you know it too!

you know between you and Lou Dobbs, it is very difficult to decide who is the most anti-Obama, but i think that you run a very close second!

By the way Obama supporters, you must know that Barack really and truly intends to campaign in everyone of the 50 States. He has been saying this for months now, and you know something? "YES HE WILL"

Brooklyn, you must not have heard about Sen. Obama. He has been working before Washington. You know, the things a candidate did before they were elected matters as well.

The other thing, people keep making a fool of themselves talking about the 57 state issue when Obama actually said 57 states and cacuses. The best thing to do is stop repeating everything said by everybody on the news. Remember how Chris Matthews made a complete fool of the young man who tried to accused Sen. Obama of being an appeaser based on something Bush said when he was trying to cast doubt in the minds of the people of Isreal. As it turned out, he didn't even know what an appeaser was. Furthermore, he didn't even know his history and should not have been talking. Too much of this is going on.

If God says Sen. Obama will be president in 2008, the devil out of hell can't stop it.

    Obama 08!!!!!

Enlightened voter, who is it that describes Obama as brilliant? You? Why don't you just marry the guy? Running a campaign is nothing like running a country. Besides, what was so brilliant? He outspent Hillary by 3 or 4 to 1, and just barely beat her. even after he was a sure thing, he was still losing states by 30% margins. Your constant mcwar comments are nothing but hateful. Frankly if Obama is supposed to be bringing everyone together he needs to find a new group of supporters. All I hear is you guys do is bash Hillary for not quiting sooner, bash Republicans, and bash a true hero, John McCain. Obama's legislative accomplishments are nonexistent. 2 of 3 three he cited in his commercial were in the IL senate, not the US Senate. He wasn't even the chief sponsor of 2 of them either. Instead of spewing hate, why don't you enlighten us on his accoplishments? Just once be positive and tell us facts, not platitudes. You stick to hate, because your guy has done nothing you can brag about. By the way, there's also a big difference between management and leadership. America doesn't need a manager, it needs a leader. Besides his campaign what has Obama led? Nothing!

I think he's getting a bum rap no matter what he says and does. I wish both candidates would talk about themselves instead of putting each other down. If he travels around and does that, he might get alot more votes and alot more respect. I really don't think they like talking about each other, but they really don't have a choice with everyone else getting involved. I hope he makes it to all 50 states. McCain can do that too if he handles his money right, even with the price of gas as it is right now.

Wolf, you need to sit down somewhere where you won't cry. Obama is going to win and win big. When he gets into office, all evil-doers are gonna get brought up on war crimes and the Charlie-Black lobbyists are gonna get thrown out. Oh yes, Obama is a civil rights lawyer and will get justice for America. Get with those ambitious plans Blitzer! Obama 2008!

Brandon...did you forget that Obama won the primary in North Carolina? We will definitely be supporting Obama in November.

Obama's Babies Mama...your name speaks volumes about your ignorance, so I don't need to address that. But don't worry...the money won't run out. He's the antichrist, remember? I don't know why you folks don't realize that. There's really nothing you can do. You might as well just vote for him in November, because there is NO stopping the antichrist!!! LOL...what a bunch of idiots you people are.

This eloquent, intelligent man is going to be out next President. And I, for one, am quite proud. I am hoping that the idiotic rumors will stop very soon. He is accused of playing the race card, but DUH...he's black. Race is always going to be an issue, and racism is alive and well in 2008. No, opposing Obama doesn't make you a racist. But if you were an HRC supporter who is now supporting John McCain, you are either an idiot or a racist...you decide.
