It saddens me to read comments filled with anger and ignorance in connection with the upcoming election in November when the fate of many of the major cities on our planet is in grave danger due to our failure to take climate change seriously. Many more hurricanes will demolish islands and wreck towns, and rising waters will innundate costal cities, including New York. I wish the energy people put into critizing politicians could be directed towards coping with climate change!

Actually, I would imagine most people who aren't in unions are very happy about it. You might try opening your eyes and comparing your wages and benefits, etc. to those of your peers in non-unions businesses. Yours are almost certainly going to be lower. If there was EVER an organization that had as it's ONLY mission its own self-preservation, it is unions. Think about it.

I really don't trust union, obama was endorsed by one in Ohio during primary and he ended up losing big time to Hillary by 10pts. I hope that the history won't repeat itself. However, i still believe that he might win in November due to his family history:
1) his cousin Odinga from his father side is the current Kenyan vice president.
2) another cousin this time from his mother Dick Cheney is the current USA vice president. Since is surrounded by vice presidents both sides,i think that it is time for him to be a president. No wonder he defeated Hillary. OBAMA 08-12

The reason why many don't like unions is because they're inefficient, have poor productivity and lead to poorly made, high-cost products. Pay increases are tied to tenure rather than performance, the union infrastructure only survives to the extent that worker/management conflict exists and therefore does everything it can to continue it, etc. (just like wacko Hamas members try to undermine peace negotiations).

My father-in-law was a union electrician and would often have to wait hours for someone else to just open up a door for him, since it wasn't HIS union that had the job of opening up the door. Does anybody out there like being told that you CANNOT do something because someone else HAS to do it?

As for those of you who talk about Republicans not being in the 21st century, do you understand how laughable it is that your pro-union stance puts you squarely in the 1930s?????

Hey Union Member Thomas. You complain about your union but I bet you are more than willing to take the salary and benefits they get for you. I used to be a union president in my younger days and there were a number of complainers like you who slammed unions and bemoaned their dues but more than willingly took anything they could that the union bargained for them and often complained that it wasn't enough. If you don't like what you union does then run for office in it...oh wait, people like you just complain, they never want to participate or put in any off work time.

All these union and political endorsements get alot of read for Obama, but at the end of the day, it is the voter–behind closed curtains within the privacy of their own judgement that will make the decision as to the nest POTUS.
I will share my decision, and I hope it is the same for the majority of others, and that is NO OBAMA!.
I'd rather have 4 years of MCCain, that one day of OBAMA.
To all you Obama supporters, I just can't believe you are buying of this. Your hopes and dreams do not lie with the election of Obama. He is a say anything politician who has somehow latched onto the weakness in so many, its scary, real scary. Think long and hard about your decision in Nov. What Americans seem to forget. We are in TWO wars.

We are winning in Iraq. The surge level will be gone by October. Further troop pull outs will occur because Iraq is taking control of its' own country.

However, we are STILL in a war in Afghanistan. The death toll there is greater than Iraq. We have not defeated Osama Bin Ladin. Senator Obama's SubCommittee was in a position to actually do something about Afghanistan, but it did NOTHING for two years...why? The chairperson was too busy running for President!

What on Earth makes you think he will do anything after he is President?

No renegotiating NAFTA.
No fixing the deficit.
Manufacturing jobs will still leave the United States.

All of those saying Unions killled or caused the death of American Auto Industry need to wake up. GM refused to co-operate with Toyota for the research of Hybrid Technologies. Today they are closing plants not because of the Unions, but because they were stupid enough to think that the oil will always be $30/barrel. So lets get educated before posting stuff that has no merit. If Sen McCain can promise that oil drilled in American will not be sold on the International Market and will only be used in America, I will vote for him; but the truth is when that oil comes out of the ground (May be 10years) oil companies would be looking at India and China to see who can offer them a better price.

I am glad to be white and a part of this exceptional phenomenon. We shall do it again in November. There shall be no rest for the wicked. To me Obama is the IDEAL.
