Sen. Obama asked his contributors to help bring Clinton out of Debt Tuesday.

(CNN) – Sen. Barack Obama has asked top contributors to help his former rival for the Democratic presidential nomination, Sen. Hillary Clinton, retire her debt, an Obama campaign source said Tuesday.

Obama did not direct members of his National Finance Committee to contribute to Clinton's campaign, the source said, but asked them to do so if they were so inclined.

Clinton suspended her campaign and endorsed Obama for the Democratic presidential nomination this month.

She has amassed a campaign debt of about $22 million, but about $12 million of that is money the New York senator loaned to the campaign herself.

Individual donors can contribute $2,300 to individual candidates.

Clinton and Obama have scheduled a joint campaign appearance Friday in Unity, New Hampshire.

Obama said Tuesday that he had spoken with Clinton by phone earlier in the day as well as on Sunday.

"We had a good conversation," he said. "We're looking forward to seeing each other tomorrow and campaigning on Friday."

Actually, Hillary needing her debt paid shouldn't even be an issue at this time and date. I would have thought by now that all of those who are willing to throw this country down the tube with their idiotic messages of love and support for Hillary and then suddenly becoming a Republican over night point of view would have it paid off by now. Let's see you pay up and shut up. There's not a one of you that really supports Hillary as you claim to or you wouldn't be saying what you are. The only thing that I can think of is that she really meant what she said when she claimed to carry the less educated. It's the only thing that makes any sense. You all have to be a bunch of lunitics. UNLESS COLOR PLAYS A ROLE IN THIS.

REDICULOUS! NONESENSE!

Why help this rich backstabbing woman who IRRESPONSIBLY got herself into this debt?

I'd rather donate to the Red Cross to the flood victims.

She has the money to write herself another check to payoff the debt! Her husband can go out make more speeches to payoff the debt!

The Clintons screwed up their hope in white house. Now, they are trying to screw up Obama's opportunity by taking his time away from his campaign to cater the selfish Clintons' personal agenda,

I WILL NOT donate any more money to Obama campaign if Clintons are on his VP ticket!

If Hillary continues her racist "hard working white people" campaign much longer she will be irrelevant. As an Obama supporter and donor if she continues this campign style another two weeks, count me out donating to help her. Let the hard working, low income, white people who love her so much pay off her debts. Let's see she should be able to get what, $655.00 paid off through their efforts. Her problem with her campaign which no one will talk about is that many of her voters are low income white registered Democrats who will likely vote for McCain in the fall, even if she is the candidate.

Alex From Strohs   June 25th, 2008 10:56 am ET

My dad used to say " You gotta put down big to pick up big". Hillary put down big and lost. She didn't get cheated. She just good, old fashioned, lost. She ran a bad campaign, and that cost her 10 million of her own money. Most people in the US don't have that kind of stitch to be blowing on anything. She should now have to deal with the consequences, like everybody else in America is doing. What a load of horse manure. I'm still waiting for those 18 million cult members that talk about Hillary like Christ, to fork over $1.00 each. Her debt should have been paid back twice over by now. But Hillary supporters prove they are all talk, and no action. This is why I don't worry about them in the general election. They will talk about voting for McCain, but in reality they will just stay home.

Hillary: "Thanks Barack, but raising money for me to pay my debt is not necessary. Bill and I have made plenty of money, we will take care of the debt ourselves. But in the spirit of unity, I will campaign for you without any strings attached, I know you would do the same for me."

Words you will never hear selfish, self-centered Hillary say.

And I will NEVER pay for her debt.

How can anyone on here blame Obama for the financial mess Clinton is in?? You people are amazing to say the least. He is doing what is customary in this process for the LOSER who spent too much. I personally won't give her a dime. If she can't recoup on her own, oh well, too bad!!!! Why not send Billy Boy out on some Middle East speaking tours and they'll get their money back. Obama is NOT PAYING BACK HER PERSONAL DEBT, only asking his big money contributors to help pay her debt to vendors. You know, all the small business owners she was supposed to be representing but stiffed their bills on her way through their state? It is a very nice a reasonable way to handle the situation, as usual.

IS THAT DEBT? I am in debt. I am negative $40-50K all my adult life. Donate money to me, not millionaires. and she spent like crazy even after she knew that she cannot win the nomination. I am getting cold chills imagining the spending she would have done being a president.

Dumb People!   June 25th, 2008 10:41 am ET

To: S. Shay,

And others–it's politics, stupid! He is doing it to save his face and gain HRC supporters. But, your candidate may or may not win the election and there is always 2012 and he too will need supporters if he runs again. But thank you for your comments and those of other spiteful people, you do continue to re-enforce my decision of not to vote for OBAMA! I, too, believe with the help of his supporters and friends he should do it on his own since he "walks on water", but he knows he needs the Clintons. He knows it, but it doesn't matter to me–he's not earned my vote and he never will get it! He can thank you for that as his supporter and all the other mouthy people and of course, his voting record and his inexperience.

Ep Tampa, FL   June 25th, 2008 10:40 am ET

What a let down. It seems more and more that Obama is following politics as usual and has made a backroom agreement with the Clintons. So much for change.

Looks like I'm voting Libertarian. Thanks to the DNC for getting my hopes up and letting me down again.

Brad - California   June 25th, 2008 10:38 am ET

I've helped the Obama campaign, but I will never give to help Hillary recoup her $11 million – the Clintons are worth a fortune already (after having left office) – $109 million in income from what I've read, not even including 2007, and with this kind of earning power, she has never and will never represent me.

Bill earns more out of the country supporting things like trade with Columbia than he earns in the country. Hillary obligated the Clinton's money to a failed campaign and a failed strategy – she and Bill can earn it back in 6 months. The Clinton dynasty is over!

Rusty, Portland   June 25th, 2008 10:38 am ET

Sure Barack Hussein, whatever you say. You want me to give money to Hillary? How much and where should I send it? After that, should I write you a check also and send another one to the DNC?

All of you politicians are millionaires and yet you are sucking us dry. Is that what you are going to do after you are elected? Of course you are.

Everyone knows you are going to raise our taxes and give the Senators a pay increase at the same time. Oh the poor fools who have prostrated themselves at your feet-what a rude awakening they are headed for.

Phil-Little Rock   June 25th, 2008 10:38 am ET

I always say 'GO OBAMA' at the end of each post, but let it be known: this is one ideal I TOTALLY DISAGREE with Sen. Obama on.

Think about it: if you start your own business, using your own money, if the business bombs, you can't go to the government and say 'please reimburse me my initial investment'. You LOSE THAT MONEY, and THAT'S IT!!

Hillary and all the Clintonistas urged her to keep going against the evil Obama and his mighty tribe of 'would-be Muslims' (remember that, all you Clinton idiots out there?) They told her she could beat Obama, even though the writing was on the wall. Now she's lost, and she's $24 million in the hole, now she wants HIS supporters to help HER!! After she threw EVERY KITCHEN SINK IN NY at Obama!!

I say, no thanks. Let Hillary's supporters bail her out!! 18 million people can come up with enough money to bail her fat, wide behind out of debt!! I, for one, as a staunch Obama supporter, will not give a Chinese nickel to have it turned over to Hillary Clinton. No way, not at all, no sir, not gonna get it!!

GO OBAMA!! (But not for Hillary...........)

There was a great segment on Rush Limbaugh yesterday...he played audio from Jimmy Carter's speeches. It was uncanny how similar Barack's talk is. "windfall profits", conserve, and basically sacrifice the hope and dreams for a comfortable life and a better tomorrow.

Carter failed re-election.

If you think that we can conserve to make tomorrow a better place, you should talk to India and China. China is putting a new coal power plant online EVERY 7 DAYS!! They're building nuclear power plants and are exploring for more energy. But, hey, if we cut back, then the world will be better!? NO, we will just slowly fade away and loose our hopes and dreams.

I believe if both Hilary and Bill can support and endorse Obama, then I can also have a change in heart and help contribute towards retiring her debt. But, I would like to see some of her disgruntled followers who are defecting to McBush also help retire Hillary's debt too. They can support McBush, I don't care, but they need to step up and help Hillary with her campaign debt. Obama can count on me to help.

This is the way it's been done for years. The Nominee ususally rallies the base and gets them to donate to retire the 2nd place nominee's debt. Out of the spirit of our need to win in Nov, I'll donate to Hillary's campaign despite the PUMA people's nasty comments all over these threads. And they want to talk about negative Hillary comments? HA!Had they supported Hillary financially throughout her campaign, this would not even be an issue. I also don't know how much help the Clinton's can deliver to Obama's campaign with all the nasty things they said about him during the campaign. " Sen McCain is ready on day one, I'm ready on day one, and Sen Obama has a speech he gave in 2002 ". Now I realize that during primaries, things will be said, but that statement alone is going to raise questions by the GOP about Hillary's support and her confidence in Obama's readiness on day one. Hillary being picked for VP? I just don't see it happening. BTW, to those who claim to be life long Dems, you probably are the Reagan democrats ( oxymoron ) who helped usher in this mess our country currently faces, so you can just keep voting in Republicans and continue the harm and hope that your SS and Medicare bennies aren't slashed, that gasoline doesn't hit 6.00 per gallon, and that the jobs don't continue to go overseas. Without a good jobs base, who is going to pay for those bennies you folks enjoy? What a mess you guys left our younger generations. Shame on you, you're no democrats.

Jon   June 25th, 2008 10:13 am ET

All he did was ask his supporters to donate money to Clinton IF THEY WERE SO INCLINED. If you don't want to, then don't, but there's really no need to spew out all this hatred of him. On his worst day Obama is still a better choice over McCain.

Both Obama and Hillary have now shown that they want, expect, and will give bailouts!! THIS IS NOT CHANGE!! They will destroy the economy if they manage it like they are managing their campaigns.

And for all of you who Dems who are voting for McCain, I ask why? to punish yourselves?
We want change. We don't want to work for 1/4 of the year just to pay taxes (which Dems want to RAISE!@!?) We don't want bailouts–let corporations and individuals fail-and learn. We don't want "windfall profit taxes"–who determines windfall!? the Pharmaceutical companies make MUCH more than Oil companies–heck, college endowments make much more than oil.
I'm voting for Bob Barr–real change.

I just hope the haters haven't done permanent damage to the DEMS chances to win in NOV.

Apparently having a really WEAK Pepublican opponent isn't enough to guarentee Obama an easy win.

Obama has a lot of mending to do after his dirty campaign in the primaries.

Peter   June 25th, 2008 10:10 am ET

No matter what he does; I am not going to vote for Obama. Nobama!! Mccain 08, Clinton 2012!! From now on, I have become independent. I will never again donate a dime to the democratic party, until Hillary becomes the get the nomination in 2012. Also, I would rather vote for Mccain for now so that I would have to put up with the impotent Obama. It is better to wait for 4 years than 8!!

Kris   June 25th, 2008 10:10 am ET

Obama is the man! All that money was used to try and derail him from his campain yet he is looking to help settle the debt. Its called DEM unity. Unfortunitly will not help unify the prejudice ones but that would be a small and insignificant percentage. Obama 2008-2012!

Ms J   June 25th, 2008 10:08 am ET

How can you call Obama a snake when he is doing more than enough to help Clinton get out of HER DEBT? Was it his fault that he outspent her and managed his money well at the same time while she left vendors empty-handed while still trying to run a campaign that she couldn't afford? Now she's looking to the one person that she despises most to help get her out of the debt that she put herself in. She had more support & votes than him (according to herself) so why couldn't she raise just as much money? Yet her radical followers just as well blame Obama for her debt. GO FIGURE?

BILL CLINTON CAN GO TO THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES AND GIVE A SPEECH FOR $20 MILLION.

What an ugly and divisive campaign of hate this man of hope and unity and change ran.

Now his success in NOV depends on the HRC supporters so he is forced to make nice.

WILL IT WORK?

Only the votes in Nov will tell if the strategy of hating your opponent and her supporters will gain you votes.

EVEN wit McCain as the poor alternative it is a big question mark. Hate can DO that.

Jan   June 25th, 2008 10:07 am ET

I will vote for Obama but I will NEVER help Hillary get out of debt. She caused this herself so let her get out of this mess herself. I doubt very seriously that if the shoe was on the other foot that she would help HER opponent.

I gave Hillary $25 when she endorsed Barack. I'll give her another $25.

Everyone, she could have made it worse if she decided to have a floor fight at the convention. Her better instincts told her she couldn't win any old way they played with the FLA & MI numbers. Her supporters should give to her even if they don't contribute to Barack.

I'm happy to have her on the campaign trail and all Obama supporters should be too.

Dee Tee Gee Arlington, TX   June 25th, 2008 9:58 am ET

I hear all of you Obama bashers, but obviously you're ignoring the mere fact that Hillary needs to be bailed out of debt is a red flag in & of itself. If she can't handle her campaign finances, how is she going to handle the business of this country. Hate Obama all you want, but the fact is that his campaign is well off enough financially that he doesn't have to use the federal campaign funding, something I think is great. Use that money for something else. And since you guys love Hillary so much, why don't you step up to the plate & open up your wallets & help get her out of the red. Sorry Obama, I got your back but I'm not helping her get out of the hole. She shouldn't have a problem covering her shortfall if all of her "supporters" come to her aid. Go ahead & vote for McCain. His senior advisor has already let us know what they're talking about behind closed doors. "Hey, we need another terrorist attack to put us over the top". How could you sleep at night voting for someone who would even think that? Ridiculous.

Denny   June 25th, 2008 9:58 am ET

I can't believe the venom I am reading. BIG PICTURE people. Do you want another Scalia on the Supreme Court. That is who McCain wants to appoint. AGAIN, BIG PICTURE!!!!!

john   June 25th, 2008 9:57 am ET

What Clinton said in Pennsylvania ? She is 'bitter' now.

lesson learned?   June 25th, 2008 9:57 am ET

Finally...

Remember that Obama drew in a bunch of "new voters". These young voters are enthusiastic and zealous... but proved to be not too sophisticated about voting etiquette.

First rule: If you blog filth and vitriolic insults against your party's OTHER candidate and all her supporters... well you will end up alienating many of those people and will lose their vote in Nov.

Obama has to do damage control now, after playing the race card and calling the Clintons and all their supporters, racist. And after all the uneducated, stupid, morons, inbred rednecks, uninformed, ignorant and even foul and filthy insults that his supporters threw at the HRC supporters. Mocking and jeering and booing doesn't help either.

That hatred divided the party and has done some real damage to the democrats.

GENERALLY... the strategy of divide and conquer by hate is not a good strategy WITHIN your own party. The newbies have not yet learned the lesson that such tactics can COST YOUR NOMINEE THE GENERAL ELECTION.

saga for Obama   June 25th, 2008 9:56 am ET

wow...this election has sparked the American people like never before, it has been a revolution for everyone...Mrs. Clinton has shown that " it is no longer extraordinary for a woman" to for president, and for Mr. Obama, well for ALL people of color, kids who come from single family homes, people who are poor as he and his family were growing up and to all the have faced adversity he says and through example has proved "yes we can".
i have been reading these blogs, doing research, lots of googleing i am telling you and find direct contradictions from what i have read here from "Clinton Supporters' (or repubs posing as them ) and what Mr. Obama has said about Mrs. Clinton.
Mr. Obama has shown great respect, restraint and character and is running a brilliant champaign. (i contributed 200.00 in 3 separate donations, i have no affiliation to PAC or any lobby, just a hard working American struggling to pay my bills)
McCain says "see he flip flopped" on public finance, well as we all know he should be the last person in the world to speak to that.
note 1) he took a loan out, then pulled out of PF, then back in
2) his view on immigration 3) off shore drilling 4) his idea of war on terror is staying in Iraq 100 more years spending Trillions of dollars while hard working Americans loose their homes.
Obama is not perfect but i think he s Great!
those of you who call yourselves PUMA....your claws are showing
those of you "who would vote for your dog" before you vote for "A BLACK" you are the ugly cancer that has plagued America.

and yes guts Mc Caints first wife is alive the poor woman what John put her through would be like a holiday compared to what he would put Americans through is he got into office.

by the way, he raised almost as much money as Obama last month, who were his contributors???

Val, Atlanta, Ga   June 25th, 2008 9:55 am ET

Former, I am 48 years old and I am not saying that Bill Clinton didn't do things for blacks or Poor Whites But I have yet to see him march in any of the Civil Rights Movement with Dr. King and Jessie Jackson and our other Black leaders nor have I seen him get locked up or sprayed with water hoses for walking a picket line. and I really don't think that Blacks are dogging the Clintons out nor woman if you can remember she had all the WOMEN votes and I have heard more people dogg out the Clintons by her own Peeps so lets just keep it real, Please.

BigAce   June 25th, 2008 9:55 am ET

I see the Clinton posers are still trying to cause chaos by using the same attacks and labels for Obama that the republicans are using.

A word of advice, if you want us to believe that you actually supported clinton, then use your own words or better yet, give a little more substance to your outrage. Canned phrases like "empty suit", "elitist", "appointed candidate" are your opinions which are not based in reality.

OBAMA won, get over it. No matter how much whining or complaining you do, the results will not change nor can we change them here for you.

You can spot the posers from the real deal because the real HRC supporters speak of their personal feelings while the others just attack without expressing how they feel about HRC.

Obama you are making a huge mistake. Remember...many of the supporter on your side are om your side because we HATE the Clintons. Birds of a feather!!! I will no longer give you donations because you want to bail out millionaires. I thought you were smarter than that. Maybe I was wrong. McCain is not looking so bad right now.

David, Silver Spring, MD   June 25th, 2008 9:53 am ET

What Obama is doing is a standard move for the victor in closely-contested primaries as a way to win over supporters of the vanquished candidate. Hillary Clinton should have campaigned within her means, the way Obama did; but try telling her supporters that. She should have run a cleaner campaign, without demeaning Obama's achievements or saying he was only about speeches; but try telling her supporters that.

As an Obama supporter, I got lots of email requests to contribute. Sometimes I did, sometimes I didn't. It's optional, just as I now consider it optional whether I help Clinton retire her debt.

TESAP   June 25th, 2008 9:52 am ET

Well, I find this a great move by Senator Obama. He should help her since she is helping him now. Senator Obama should also pick Hillary Clinton as his V.P. What is he waiting for?!?!? I hope he makes an announcement soon with regard to his V.P. pick. Maybe on Friday when they are campaigning together. That would be a fantastic move on his part. Let's face it; Senator Obama NEEDS Hillary Clinton. Please make up your mind already Senator Obama. I need to make a decision on who I will vote for in November. If Hillary is on your ticket, you will definitely get my vote. STILL SUPPORTING HILLARY CLINTON NOW AND FOREVER.

Substance not Rhetoric   June 25th, 2008 9:51 am ET

The funniest thing of all. Is listening to HRC supporters blame Barack for why they won't donate to Clinton to help their own candidate pay off her debt. Now I know some HRC supporters are just lost but for those still are rational please explain why Obama stops you from contributing to her campaign. Maybe Hillary lost because unlike Obama she could not inspire her supporters to participate.

BTW what are the qualifications for being President. Since you say Obama is not qualified or the least qualified.

Hate drove us away   June 25th, 2008 9:51 am ET

It was the vile, filthy hatred of the "new" voters Obama attracted to the democratic party that created the division in the democratic party.

These blogs have been filled with Obama supporters posting hateful and nasty insults about Hillary Clinton and her supporters: stuff like,
they are racists, inbred redneck cousins, ignorant, uninformed, poor, uneducated stupid morons etc etc.

That kind of hatred against OTHER democrats can cost a nominee the election in the fall. Hate usually will not gain you the support of those who you hate and insult and demean and denigrate.

JohnBoy   June 25th, 2008 9:51 am ET

TAX THE RICH AND PAY OF HILLARYS DEBT.

Actually . . .   June 25th, 2008 9:50 am ET

I always vote for the candidate I consider best for my country - NOT strictly party line - which seems like foolish, displaced loyalty to me. As a centrist Democrat, I chose Hillary Clinton (and contributed heavily to her efforts). But now I reject the corrupt, ultra-liberal DNC and Democratic Party. Let the DNC "redeem" itself by even a small fraction and retire Hillary's campaign debt. Now I will vote for the only other centrist candidate I consider best for my country - John McCain.

Mike, Syracuse, NY   June 25th, 2008 9:50 am ET

Dem   June 25th, 2008 9:50 am ET

Wow.
So Obama is trying to help out his fellow democrat. He is asking for all democrats to unite and help out with a campaign debt. Which if you all would read the entire story, the debt will be paid first and if there is any left over will go to paying back her personal loan she lent to her campaign.
But noooooo, you all are bad mouthing and trashing. Talk about unity.
If Barrack can't even get this simple little thing done, what makes you all thing he can tackle the big problems.

Independent is looking mighty good now.

It's actually untrue that Obama would be the most unexperienced president this country has ever seen. Obama started in the State Legislature in 1997 and serves as a Senator currently, that gives him 11 years as an elected government official at the State and Local level.

The least amount of experience for anyone as president is actually only 2 years for someone elected to the position. Woodrow Wilson was governor for 2 years before coming president, and he's considered in the top 10 presidents of all time.

Here's a list of presidents with less experience than Obama: Woodrow Wilson, Teddy Rosevelt, FDR, Ronald Reagan, John Adams, Abraham Lincoln, James Monroe and Harry Truman.

Coincidentally, James Buchanan has had the most experience out of any presidential canidate ever, over 30 years of government work under his belt before taking the presidency.....and he's regarded as one of the worst presidents ever in our nation's history.

Experience isn't always a good thing.

Tanya, GA   June 25th, 2008 9:48 am ET

How can they say that they are protesting the very party that has fought for her to spite the "believed" actions of one person. Which is by all means false!!! If he cares about the REAL PEOPLE, why doesn' t he ask those contributors to help some of his supporters with their foreclosures.

To me, a family who are about to be kicked out of their home is significantly more important than HRC, a person who has over $100,000 million in the bank, gets free mortgage (the secret service pay her mortgage) and is complaining and whining because she used 10 mil of her own money. YOU TOOK A CHANCE AND LOST. Deal with it.

Hmm, lets see, he has a BA from Columbia, Graduated Magna cum Laude from Harvard, where he was the president of the Law Review, taught Constitutional Law at the University of Chicago for 12 years, wrote two books, served in the Illinois Senate, served in the US Senate, and worked with multiple foundations. And he's only 46.

You call that a quitter? What have you done that even comes close?

I dont care who this is, the LAST thing I want to do is help a Millionaire get back their money after a bad investment. And to ask supporters to pay for her to get her money back is insulting on both their parts!

Joe Six   June 25th, 2008 9:42 am ET

You got to be kidding. Obama asking hard working people to contribute money to pay down debt of a couple that made over $100 million in the last 7 years. They still have millions in the bank and can make even more. I guess Obama really does think some people have alot of excess, unneeded money.

Mike in Columbus   June 25th, 2008 9:42 am ET

LOL, this will somehow still manage to anger her supporters.

As an ex-Hillary supporter i will not donate a dime to help her pay her debt. The reason is simple i beleive she betrayed us all by staying in the race not because of some ideal but just to show that she was entitilled to her crown.
NOOOOOOOOOOPUMAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!

Irma in North Carolina   June 25th, 2008 9:35 am ET

All you so called Hillary suporters are a disgrace to your party. First of all you 18 million people can not afford to give a dollar to her, to help her out of debt. You are so childish saying you are going to vote for Mccain and have four more years of bush. Ask your selves this question, is hillary going to vote for mccain now, cause she didnt win the primary. I think not. It goes to show now that you really arent true supporters of hers. How do you think this makes Hillary feel. By the way I am a repbulician and just today I have but my Obama stickers on my car, so you know who I will vote for. So hillary suporters please wake up and see the light.

To Hello: It is Clinton supporters who are hateful. You are the ones who have depicted Senator Obama, a Harvard educated, intelligent individual as a monkey among other things. Two of the reasons why the rest of the world hates the United States are the policies of the current administration and Hillary supporters.

California Gold   June 25th, 2008 9:31 am ET

Politically it is appropriate. Political reciprocity: Clinton endorse Obama and Obama encourage contributors to help Clinton. Not a problem. Both are professionals who put on their game face and play the game. Understood.

Personally I think Senator Clinton ought to be exclusively responsible for repaying herself. She loaned her campaign personal funds. Will she repay herself first? Where does she place herself in pecking order of debts? If she has to eat it-so be it. She racked up megabucks of campaign debt knowing there was no way she could accumulate the number of delegates necessary. Super delegates were jumping ship before the last primaries, yet she spent money like it was going out of style. I don't fault her for hanging in there to the very last vote, but I think she should raise her funds by giving speeches or write another book.

Jason   June 25th, 2008 9:30 am ET

The politics of $$ as usual. Buying Hillary's support.

Obama chose not to take public financing because he knew us suckers would keep digging into our pockets for him. Now he wants everybody to dig in a little deeper for her.

This is out of hand and I'm done.

Frank   June 25th, 2008 9:29 am ET

I'm sure Senator Obama can't legally use the money sent directly from his internet donors. They will do fundraiser, etc. to pay for her debt. I believe strongly that the vendors should be paid because a lot of them are small companies. Mark Penn & Senator Clinton's personal loan – if need be the two of them can eat them. I also heard that she is charging interest on her personal loan – that amazes me.

hillary supporters voting for mccain is not a threat. it will happen because we dont want obama as president. we dont much agree with mccain but we certainly do not agree with obama and so we will vote for mccain and you can keep your money. if obama is so great then why does he have to pay to get her voters? it is because he cant not relate to her supporters, women, blue collar, low income, elderly etc etc etc. if he thinks hes GOD, like most of you supporters think he is, then let him go out and meet these groups of people and WIN over their votes with the truth and a workable plan of action. otherwise, no thanks.

Xavier, Saint Louis, MO   June 25th, 2008 9:18 am ET

I support Obama; however, that pill is hard to swallow. Clinton careless stayed in the race and ran up the bill when it was clear that no way on earth she could have won. It was like she was running up the bill on purpose, just so Obama could be stuck with it.

I just can't see myself helping Clinton pay for her reckless behavior. I'll continue donating to Obama; however, Clinton ain't getting a dime!

nonnie   June 25th, 2008 9:18 am ET

Pay for what?? Poor Hillary's debt?

Today I saw a news blurb with pictures of a mother and father weeping while walking their children into an orphanage because they could not afford to feed them. As soon as I get some pocket change to donate to anything, I'll donate it to the children for food. Hillary eats well enough and her suits cost more than some people earn in a month right here in this country. Boo fkn hoo Hilary! Her Ego, Lies, Desperation were direct result for all the debts today.

LifeLongDemocrat   June 25th, 2008 9:08 am ET

Ok, slam Hillary re the debt. This happens to almost all politicians so get over it. Do you want to win? Then Obama needs to woo the Hillary supporters or most will go to McCain. The Obama supporters seem to think he is invincible...well, my generation thought the same of McGovern, Dukasis etc. The Dems are great for going over a cliff for their candidates.

Obama needs the support of the party regulars as the independents and young voters are highly unreliable when it comes to voting and showing up. Sorry, but true!

Farrell, Houston, Tx   June 25th, 2008 9:08 am ET

Whether you agree or disagree with Obama helping pay off Clintons debt, this is not unusal after a campaign, it's been done before and it won't be the last time. It seems odd to us but it is the dynamics of politics otherwise Obama wouldn't make such a request. I support Obama and so does Hillary and Bill Clinton, so let's move on.

Sean, NC   June 25th, 2008 9:07 am ET

Anybody think this is Obama extending an "olive branch" to Clinton supporters by willing to bail their candidate out of debt? While I think this is a gracious move, I do not think that this will help win over the narrow-minded democrats(I believe that's an oxymoron) who won't vote for Obama because he is not Sen. Clinton.

Alice   June 25th, 2008 9:06 am ET

Yes, I agree with the folks who point out that she can better afford to pay it off than I can. But I gave $5.00 to Hillary - as an expression of outreach and unity.

Now if her own supporters would just pony up $2 apiece, we wouldn't need to keep having this discussion.

What a joke, she ran her campaign into debt, what ever happened to taken responsibility for your own actions, or do democrats think that everyone but themselves should pay for their mistakes. If she does indeed get bailed out, it will be a most hypocritical move, she is wealthy, campaigns against tax breaks for the rich, but when she, a rich person, is in debt, she wants all the breaks in the world. What a joke

Hey RJ-

Those 18 million that voted for Hillary, IDIOTS!

They don't understand that there was no injustice. Obama played by the rules. And yet many of the crazy cat ladies claim their was some sort of genderism when I can identify specifically WHY I despise the woman.

When asked for specifics why Obama "cheated, played the race car, treated HRC poorly". . . . . nothing! No specific examples. Which leads me to beleve we have 18 million racist cat ladies in this country who believe women are better than African Americans. At least these old hags will disappear once HRC does. If Obama decides she doesn't deserve it, NO CABINET FOR YOU, and I hear, she is screwed in NY. People have had enough of her and her family, JUST LIKE THE REST OF THE COUNTRY!!!

GO AWAY you idiotic, whining crazy cat lady HRC supporters. She aint in the race no more. Go whine and complain about the whipersnappers who walk on your lawn!

MONEY? This is an issue? 7 more American soldier's hearts have stopped beating in the last 2 days. People have nothing left from all the flooding in the Mississippi area. Entire neighborhoods in Florida, Arizona, California, are vacant from families that have lost jobs and cannot afford to live in the one thing that has given them some security in life. Thousands of jobs are being lost every day from business no longer able to say open because of fuel prices. We are the fortunate ones left, sitting at our computers, still able to afford to power them and selfishly complaining about "spilled milk"! Come on people, it's time to move on, come together and turn this country around. OBAMA / CLINTON 2008!

S. Shay   June 25th, 2008 8:52 am ET

I wouldn't contribute a bucket of warm spit to her campaign and it ticks me off that Obama is asking his supporters to do so. Are we supposed to turn into bumbling idiots and forget our common sense? Hillary’s campaign is O.V.E.R. so why in the holy hell would anyone give their hard earned money to reward someone who not only is a millionaire and won’t suffer because of the loss but also someone who LOST? Since when does the loser get to win? She didn’t and can’t deliver on her campaign promises so to what are these people contributing? Now it’s clearly obvious that she stayed in the race in hopes of recouping her initial 5 million and ended up going more into debt when the ‘whitey tape’ never showed up. Yes the whitey tape is why she stayed in the race. Even Sean Hannity admitted that people from her campaign were calling and asking about where to find the tape!!! She USED her own supporters due to her greed and now Obama has the nerve to ask his supporters to contribute to her greed thereby affecting the financing of his campaign. HELL NO! I’ll send money to Obama but not one dime to Clinton.

Chammorita   June 25th, 2008 8:51 am ET

This is NOT a surprise. It's DONE all the time. The winner usually helps the loser out with paying down their debts. However, I think Hillary should pay for Mark Penn's fees. It should NOT be paid out of donated money. Help should pay for vendors, excluding Mark Penn the IDIOT who obviously did NOT do his homework and costed her the nomination. Mark Penn was a major problem and Sen. Clinton should have gotten RID of him 10 months ago. He was nothing but a big liability from day one.

It's NOT surprising that Sen. Obama is willing to HELP Sen. Clinton pay down her debts. It's the RIGHT thing to do.

Everyone needs to stop with the "BASHING" and bitter comments and get together. YOUR either a loyal Democrat or your NOT. Bottom line. If you are a team player then WELCOME, if your not, "don't let the door hit you where the good LORD has split you!".

Life's too short and it takes too much energy to constantly spew bitterness and negativity. It's just not worth the time, there are a LOT more important things going on in the world. Let's move on.

Save your hatred for those who REALLY want to harm our country, NOT those "18 million" Americans who cast their vote for what they believe - just like you did - which, after all, is what America is all about. Now go get a life!

Bill from Woodstock   June 25th, 2008 8:50 am ET

Big mistake. The Bill and Hillary cashed in after his stint in the WH and have $80 million! She did not run a good race and from the start it was clear her finance people were not up to the task. Why should we pay for her badly run campaign? Obama has many, many small dollar donors (like me) who will resent "paying off" Bill and HIllary. They blew it, and can afford it for crying out loud. Big mistake.

Working American to Pay Rich Politician's Debt, NOT!   June 25th, 2008 8:41 am ET

Why should struggling Americans pay the debt of someone that makes millions of dollars? Can someone help me pay my debt? I can barely pay my student loans. The economy is terrible, gas prices are high, and the overall cost of living is up. The average working American does not see a salary increase, yet we are asked to pay a rich woman's debt. I don't get it.

Patty   June 25th, 2008 8:40 am ET

I'm sure this is the condition upon which she would help O'Bama. Her rhetoric about uniting the party is BS. Let her pay her own bills. No one is paying ours.

jack23   June 25th, 2008 8:39 am ET

This is ridiculous. Why does the winner have to spend money to help out the loser? If she spent way too much money, that's her own fault. The debt is a result of the inefficient way that Clinton's campaign was run and it speaks volumes about what kind of candidate she was, going from basically the presumptive nominee to a loss and a debt of $22 million.

I, for one will certainly be voting for him unlike some of her other supporters who say they will vote for McCain. Do you want another Republican in the White House in 2009 to put us in a worse position if that is possible ,or a Democrat to try to clean up the mess.

Let's all unite and do our best to put a Democrat in the White House in 2009. I really think Obama would rather us pull together. WHAT DO YOU THINK?

To me, a family who are about to be kicked out of their home is significantly more important than HRC, a person who has over $100,000 million in the bank, gets free mortgage (the secret service pay her mortgage) and is complaining and whining because she used 10 mil of her own money. Tammy - KCMO   June 25th, 2008 8:34 am ET

I can't in good conscience help Hillary pay off her debt. She continued to run despite not having the funds to continue or the votes. She mismanaged her money and her campaign and Obama defeated her fair and square despite what her fanatical supporters think. She and her husband divided the Democratic party with the kitchen sink tactics and now that this is over I don't see either of them going out of their way to fix the problems they created. I also don't see them supporting Obama in the fashion any good Democratic nominee that lost should.
As far as I'm concerned she is on her own to pay her debt. She has plenty of money to do it herself obviously or she would have dropped out sooner. Let the supporters that refuse to vote for Obama including PUMA pay off her debt. They don't need Obama supporters.

Jeanine G   June 25th, 2008 8:34 am ET

I Love You Barack! I am voting for you for sure...but help Hillary retire her debt? The money she "loaned" herself?

Sorry man, I love ya, will vote for ya...but I won't give a dime to THAT woman.

Al - Florida   June 25th, 2008 8:33 am ET

Hey Obama folks, listen to your glorious leader. You want Unity, well here it is. We know the last thing Obama supporters want to do is to help Hillary. It's hard at first but you'll be ok. You asked us Hillary supporters to support the party's nominee, now its your turn. Hillary supporters listened to Hillary and now support Obama (see the latest polls), so you must now listen to Obama and support Hillary.

Line up and pay up $$$.

Freddie, La   June 25th, 2008 8:32 am ET

I sent a $50 pmt Saturday and I'm encouraging all Obama/Dem to do what you can comfortably send for Sen. Clinton. Remember Demo's we're all in this together.

New Day   June 25th, 2008 8:31 am ET

This is insane! A month ago, if anyone dared to suggest the Hillary should leave the race they were called sexist, even though the media has said that to EVERY candidate in the primaries that has EVER fallen behind to the point where it would be improbable that they could catch up. In that month, she has SO mismanaged her campaign finances that she is 20 million in the red. So, now, because she had to get her way like a spoiled child, we need to pony up the cash? Whatever happened to being responsible and living within your means? If I go out and buy a ferrari and cant afford it, will anyone go to newday.com to donate money for me? Huckabee stayed in the race but was flying commercial flights and staying in cheap hotels with nearly no staff at all so that he wouldnt get into debt. Why didnt she?

V, Chicago   June 25th, 2008 8:29 am ET

When will this election cycle be about more than just figuring out ways to give Hillary what she wants?

NObama   June 25th, 2008 8:28 am ET

Hey Barack,

Just ask Rezko to cut a deal with Hillary. You know how it works....

Harvey in Va   June 25th, 2008 8:28 am ET

I have given 4 times to the Clinton campaign but I will not give a dime to Obama or anymore to pay off a debt. If she were to be on the ticket I would start contributions again otherwise I am voting McCain PERIOD

russell   June 25th, 2008 8:27 am ET

FORMER , YOU NEED TO LOOK IN THE MIRROR AT YOUR RACISM AND YOURSELF ,UNDERSTAND WHO 'S BEEN CONTROLLING THIS NATION OURS FORTHE EIGHT YEARS, SOME OF YOU TOOK A CHANCE AND VOTED FOR AN IDIOT WITH NO EXPIERENCE AS PRESIDENT .......WHAT MAKES ONE QUALIFIED TO BE PRES . DEFINTELY NOT BEING IN THE MILITARY OR BEING A WIFE OF A PRESIDENT ...................WE ARE LIVING IN A VERY INCLUSIVE WORLD ,SO UNTIL YOU GET THAT IDEA AMERICA WILL REMAIN LOST..............................................................

What a surprise

Vote McCain or join the insane

John in Ohio   June 25th, 2008 8:27 am ET

Hope this is the bone she gets tossed, instead of a VP nod.

I'd pay $20 million to keep her off the ticket.

Democrats Unite!!!   June 25th, 2008 8:24 am ET

It's no big deal guys... Trust me, Obama is a much better candidate because of how tough the primary was. Just watch him cream McCain over the coming months...

I'll donate $100 to Hillary in the name of UNITY!

Helen   June 25th, 2008 8:24 am ET

All through this campaign we heard from the likes of individuals such as Geraldine Ferraro & James Carville. Well since the two of them are so well connected in the arena of raising money (remember they wanted to pay for a re-vote in FL & MI) then NOW IS THEIR TIME TO SHOW THEIR SKILLS.

In the words of Whitney Houston.....HELL TO THE NO!!

Vote Dem in November   June 25th, 2008 8:24 am ET

One last thing. There are approximately 12 websites claiming to be ex Hillary supporters voting for McCain.

Pumapac, Dems for McCain and so on. All originate out of Scottsdale Arizona started by a group of registerd republicans headed by Suzanne Hendrix, a registered Republican.

Pumapac posters are not Democrats. Take your Rush Limbaugh crap somewhere else. You have been outed at Huffington and you should be outed here!

scotty   June 25th, 2008 8:23 am ET

Id love to help you Hillary but just can't stand that "typical" Black man. and id have to give it to him first. He is just like a big box Impressive on the outsside but when you open it there is barely anything in it, all packaging and not much product

Heidi   June 25th, 2008 8:22 am ET

NO...NO...NO...NO. Hillary is a multi-millionaire. She stayed in the race at her own risk. She annoyed the public to no end with that smirk on her face.

In the writing or her own supporters....I WILL NOT BE CONTRIBUTING ONE D@MN CENT TO RETIRE HER DEBT.

When all americans debts are retired then her can be also.

Good bye once again Hillary.

Vote Dem in November   June 25th, 2008 8:20 am ET

Barack, you are the first candidate I have financially contributed to in my 25+ years of voting. Hillary will be receiving my next contribution Friday.

Good luck sir, this Nation needs you.

NObama '08

David Axlerod = Karl Rove   June 25th, 2008 8:18 am ET

Get used to being asked to pay for Obama's blank check pet projects. Its going to happen a bunch over the next 4 years.

bern   June 25th, 2008 8:18 am ET

Let me see if I understand, I am supposed to give money to a millionaire who already has more money than I will ever have in my life? Yeah...right.

While I understand the need for unity and all that, I think Hillary should pay her own debts....period. If folks who have a bunch of money want to help her out that's fine if "they are so inclined" and it seems that those folks are who Obama is talking to. Still, anyway you cut it Hillary spent money she did not have (and did not need to spend because the race was already effectively over) and is now asking democratic voters to bail her out. That money could have been used for the good of democrats all over the country.

kentucky   June 25th, 2008 8:18 am ET

Going on vacation and licking your wounds for the last month is not what I would call working your heart out for Obama. I think that the Clintons have enough money to more than pay her way out of debt. I think she is holding her support ransom in lieu of some sort of deal to be the vice president. I know that is is important to unite the party and get back on track, but reading some of the comments left by the so called Billary democrats on this Blog, its going to be difficult, regardless of what happens with her debt.

tidho   June 25th, 2008 8:17 am ET

He's going to be in a tight race and he's funneling money to help retire the debt of a multimillionaire. Brilliant.

To all those that praised Hillary's run, this is part of the reason so many were saying she should quit. Her actions directly harmed Obama's chances in November...and that's before Republicans have even started running the clips about what she said about him.

Rosa   June 25th, 2008 8:16 am ET

Obama is doing for Hillary, the same she would have done for him had the circumstances been the other way. As a Hillary supporter, I have to say, I am proud of him for doing so and as of yesterday I signed up on his website to support him fully after hearing about his efforts to help her out. Obama and Mrs. Clinton as his VP will sweep the country. I have absolutely no doubt about this. This country needs a sign of HOPE to move forward and any hint of them joining on one party ticket, is for many of us, the sign we have been waiting for for almost 8 years. LET'S MAKE HOPE A REALITY, LET'S BEGIN BY SETTING GOALS AGAIN.........OBAMA AND MRS. CLINTON 2008!

Steve   June 25th, 2008 8:15 am ET

Can Obama get some people to pay of my debt as well?

nikki   June 25th, 2008 8:15 am ET

I agree the hrc supporters keep shouting, "YOU need US we don't need you, we will walk away and vote for McCain if Barack doesn't pay off hrc's 20 million dollar debt, there are 18 million of us!" ok well as many have suggested on these boards, why don't all 18 million of ya'll each donate $1, that should clear up almost all of her debt...don't forget you guys don't need us...remember? so no, I wont be donating 1 red cent to her

Joe Logic   June 25th, 2008 8:14 am ET

Before I give Sen. Clinton a few dollars to help her out of the red, I'd like her to answer the question:

"Well, why would you spend money that you don't have in the first place?"

Wait, this is America... oops. I answered my own question. The check is in the mail, Hillary!

45 white male in PA   June 25th, 2008 8:14 am ET

I would not give her one penny, let her spend her 109 million dollars, and deal with it, the way the rest of us have to pay our debts.

Joe   June 25th, 2008 8:13 am ET

Are you kidding me, no Way!!!!!!!!

Master Plan   June 25th, 2008 8:13 am ET

Despite the apparently growing lead by Barack Obama over John McCain, in AOL straw polling McCain trounces Obama. Interesting.

Anthony   June 25th, 2008 8:11 am ET

No way!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have totally destroyed the party and my money will not get you back to $100 million.

Go Barack!

Terry in El Paso, TX   June 25th, 2008 8:11 am ET

Public financing of campaigns is obviously necessary. Elections should not be won or lost – as they are now – based on how much money the candidate can raise. While you and I might cough up the occasional hundred bucks, that is chump change. Candidates need tens of millions, hundreds of millions. Corporate donors do not give money out of a sense of civic duty. They invest money in candidates, and they expect to make more from the candidates actions than they paid in donations. That is, they want to see a profit.

Candidates who cannot raise that kind of money are never heard from because they can't afford the costs of campaigning.

If candidates had the same financial resources, then they could only compete with their ideas.

queryman52   June 25th, 2008 8:09 am ET

A real tem player! After going back on his word about public financing because he has so much money, he now asks others to help Clinton. $20 million is a drop in the bucket to Obama, and HE should help her out because he needs her constituents.

Nobody Asked Larry But...   June 25th, 2008 8:08 am ET

Terry in New York said it all. I encourage all readers/commentors to read her spot-on comments. I'll make two short additional comments: obscene, and I'll take 100K to get me out of debt and be happy.

jakiti   June 25th, 2008 8:08 am ET

Perhaps people should help for sake of unity. However I hope it's a lesson for everyone not just Hilary in this case to realise and know when to stop when desperately chasing something. It is ironic that it has come to this considering how negative her campaign was towards Obama.

Steve   June 25th, 2008 8:07 am ET

This is pathetic. Raise enough to leave her with the debt equal to her investment. Then she can eat her own investment. She did me no favors by running. EGO!

d   June 25th, 2008 8:06 am ET

As soon as Hillary apologizes for the divisiveness she caused during the Democratic primary then i would consider donating a dollar to her campaign..with the caveat being that she tell her looney husband Bill to NOT campaign for Obama. Bill Clinton did way more harm than good to the Democratic party this year, and now he wants to support Obama?? Go away Bill, go away Hillary, and take your $110 million with you.

TerryDo   June 25th, 2008 8:06 am ET

CALLING ALL CLINTON SUPPORTERS AND PICK UP THE CHALLENGE FROM THE OBAMOBOTS WHO MOCK US HER SUPPORTERS:

Yes, indeed I would ask all Clinton supporters to go to her web site and donate to relieve her of her debt so she does not have to work with Obama.

OUT OF 18 MILLION THAT BELIEVE IN CLINTON ALL THAT IS NEEDED IS A PERCENTAGE SENDING IN $20.08 IN REMEMBERANCE OF THE YEAR 2008 THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY SELF IMPLODED.

Obama needs Clinton to help him get elected because he certainly will not get elected with or without her help, so it does not much matter, but he will try to use her.

Come and join PUMA PAC AND DONATE AT HILLARYCLINTON.COM

THANK YOU!!!

AREYOUFORREAL   June 25th, 2008 8:04 am ET

He said, he ask top contributors not us little people. You know the people with the big bucks. So stop bickering.

newyorker40   June 25th, 2008 8:04 am ET

No one should help repay any debt Clinton acquired after it became mathmatically impossible for her to win. No one should pay for her vanity or her inability to grasp the true nature of the situation.

georgia   June 25th, 2008 8:02 am ET

Won't do it even for you ,O.
She doesn't deserve yours nor our generosity. Her campaign went broke trying to break you by resorting to lies ,hate mongering & vote buying. Let her silver (fork)tongued hubby hit up his jet setting cronies or their suppossed 18 million vigilantes bail her out .
THEY ARE NOT TO BE TRUSTED !!!!!

Former   June 25th, 2008 8:02 am ET

God, you people are such incredible slime. Badmouthing Bill and Hillary? I would imagine half of you are black, or women... not realizing that the Clintons pushed forward Civil Rights 20 years in the 1990s because you are too young to remember and too stupid to know better.

I switched to Independent a few weeks ago because the Democratic party has lost all intelligence and reason in the past 4 to 6 years.

Barack Obama is not JFK and he NEVER will be. I will vote for him because the WORST Democrat is better than the BEST Republican, but call him what he is... a half-witted charmer with no leadership experience aside from leading a crowd of idiots to vote for him.

Sue in MI   June 25th, 2008 8:01 am ET

It's nice to see some civility in the Democratic Party. He is right, he will need the Clintons to win; specifically, he needs Hillary on the ticket to win!
Who else can deliver her voters? Who else is equipped to fight the Republican spin machine? Who else has the experience with the press? Who else has the knowledge of the inner workings of the White House?
I think he is slowly coming to the realization that they need to be a united front to win this.

JB   June 25th, 2008 7:59 am ET

Get real! Tell Hillary to get a job like the rest of us! I guess she's been feeding at the public food dish so long that she's forgotten that those"real people" she loves so much have to work to pay off their debts. You know politicians are morons, when they are worth millions, and then have the nerve to ask for a handout.

Billary and family.....Born Losers.

Dan, MA   June 25th, 2008 7:53 am ET

I have no problem contributing to Obama, but I'm not prepared to help Clinton. I wish the Clinton campaign luck in getting out of debt, but I will take no part in it.

jay   June 25th, 2008 7:52 am ET

I agree with Barack Uda, let her crazy supporters give one dollar a piece. Although, I like the fact that Barack is trying to initiate the process of healing within the party. And by the way; in order to have this change process started for those who don't think he about change, HE HAS TO BE ELECTED FIRST. that is when the change should start not while he is trying to become president.

strong   June 25th, 2008 7:51 am ET

My message to Obama on this is: Go to h .... !

Both you and Hilly are millionaires, loaded with money. Settle your own debts yourselves and leave the rest of us workers alone !

People make no sense   June 25th, 2008 7:50 am ET

Now we know that 18 million people didn't support Hillary. They were just cackling hens or "Operation Chaos" republicans. Figures.

I will not pay a millionaires debt off   June 25th, 2008 7:48 am ET

I agree with folks above. Let her beloved 18million voters help relieve Clintons debt.

Madison   June 25th, 2008 7:47 am ET

OK Clinton lovers, instead of posting your angry, rambling messages, why not truly show your love for Hillary by helping her out. Dip into your moonshine money or give up chewing tobacco for a day

E. C., Houston, Texas   June 25th, 2008 7:46 am ET

WHO BELIEVES A CNN POLL THAT HAS BEEN PRO OBAMA FROM THE BEGINNING? NO ONE. OBAMA CAN'T AND SHOULDN'T WIN THIS CAMPAIGN, FOR HE'S THE MOST UNQUALIFIED AND INEXPERIENCED AND SHIFTY POLITICAL CANDIDATE THIS COUNTRY HAS EVER SEEN. PEOPLE ARE STILL WONDERING: WHY IS THIS MAN RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT? HE DOESN'T POSSESS ANY QUALIFICATIONS, NOR THE INTEGRITY AND HONEST CHARACTER, THAT THIS OFFICE DEMANDS. ISN'T IT AMAZING THAT THE OTHER POLLS ARE REVERSED? POLLS CAN BE MANIPULATED, AND CNN IS PRO OBAMA ANYWAY. DON'T BELIEVE IT.

Obama is Michael Dukakis revisited   June 25th, 2008 7:46 am ET

Obama had better do all he can for Clinton if he plans on winning.

For you Obama, I will   June 25th, 2008 7:45 am ET

I had already planned to give Hillary a little bit of money, despite her ugliness during the primary.

But, the thought of having that senile loon taking the Oval Office, scares me to death.

Fix the mess, VOTE DEM!

wrob from GA   June 25th, 2008 7:39 am ET

Hopefully the "heavy hitters" can take care of Hillary's debt. Us "small fry" guys want to continue supporting our candidate. That being said, we're a Democratic family and we should support each other. Glad to have both Clintons aboard!

Timber   June 25th, 2008 7:39 am ET

iT'S THE LEAST HE COULD DO.

leaprfrog   June 25th, 2008 7:39 am ET

...and the reason she couldn't loan herself the rest of the money is why?

She incurred the debt. Let her pay it off herself. Hey, under this model, can I go to Vegas, gamble myself into the red and then have someone else pay off the debt? Sounds like a novel economic solution. Maybe we can get China to pay off our national debt...

BIG PETE SR.   June 25th, 2008 7:37 am ET

I will have no problem doing this ;we are one unit looking towards the big picture.

Barack Uda   June 25th, 2008 7:37 am ET

If each one of those eighteen million crack(pot)s sends a dollar, that oughta do it.

Terry in New York   June 25th, 2008 7:36 am ET

Poor Hillary!!! Imagine being in her shoes, starting out with a 100M loaning herself 12 mil and still oweing 10 Mil. leaving only 78M she'd paid her own bills like the rest of us! Wouldn't you think 78M is more than enough to survive on. Come on people, I wish I had her problem.
How ridiculous is this. She was told over and over to give it up but she wouldn't and kept going further in debt each day. I wish you'd print the 4 letter words I'm thinking. Anyone who would send her money so she can pay herself back and get back to 100 Mil in the bank, must have some kind of mental defiency! Maybe they would also send me money to pay off my car and mortgage? I'm not greedy like her just a 150K would do it for me. ANY TAKERS?

dave   June 25th, 2008 7:36 am ET

I am a Hillary supporter and I will do anything for Obama to get elected. I like the way both are trying to unite the party. They both get all my respect. They are very professional, I hope he picks her as a VP.

AJ   June 25th, 2008 7:30 am ET

Well now the truth comes out. The only way this snake could get Clinton to help him win over her supporters is to pay off her debt. Politics of change – yeah, in a pigs eye. It's the same old crap and he doesn’t even do it very well. He is so transparent in his con jobs. I have been a democrat all my life but I won’t be supporting Obama in the fall. I think I'll go on vacation. The thought of having to choose between Obama and McCain is just too dismal.

A Nightingale Sings in Berkley Square   June 25th, 2008 7:27 am ET

I would gladly donate a lot of money to Mrs. Clinton if Obama would drop out of the race.

You see the DNC appointed him the candidate by the crazy way some of the states were allowed to vote. see Washington, Nevada, and Texas and Iowa to name a few. Reminds me of elementary school when we had to stand up in a line and choose who to be on our team. Group behavior is different behavior when one is behind closed doors.

I think Obama is naive and a serial quitter. Check yourself on how many times he has quit something rather than see it through. If he sees a disadvantage to something, he quits. Reminds me of the fat kid who took his ball and ran home to mommy.

Nice gauntlet gloves while shoveling a couple of photo op sand bags. Give me a break and let's vote for a McCain

Travis   June 25th, 2008 7:27 am ET

Ok PUMA and other Bigmouths that love Billary so much...

Pony up your bucks and get the Junior Senator out of debt.

While you're at it ask Bubba to dip into his money for her.

Enlightened Voter   June 25th, 2008 7:27 am ET

Barack, I believe in you and have donated to you. However, I cannot in good concience donate to that snake. She, because of poor management, did not manage her finances well and I will not give her a dime. This is part of her karma because she tried to demorialize you and lied continuously throughout her campaign. I would go to the ends of the earth for you Barack, but not on this one.
