How interesting that McCain's group came up with this ONLY after it was reported that Karl Rove said the same thing. This just shows McCain is just more Bush. McCain is counting on American's patriotism and support of troups, which is why he and his supporters continue to bring up his being a POW. McCain obviously believes being a POW entitles him the presidency. While I applaud his service to our country, I do NOT believe it makes him more qualified to be president. I am guessing his efforts to smear Obama, is to try to distract from the fact that he doesn't really have any real position on any issues...except for the war. His people say that Obama "flip-flops" on issues, however McCain flip-flops so much he'd make a great fish!

*smirk*

Ahh yes....the benevolance of the Republican Party in the past 8 years is just overwhelming, isn't it John?

Let's see...who was it that used their office for personal gains, and when called on it - stonewalled Congress for the past 8 years?

If that's not self-serving, I don't know what is.

Sorry - the neo-cons ruined my Party, and until they fix it - I'm voting for Bob Barr, the real conservative.

True Republicans for Barr in '08!

Do these McCain hacks ever check any facts before they slander or is it just slander first and apologize for misspeaks later.

McCain 2 weeks ago: I never loved my country till I was deprived of her' McCain yesterday: 'My entire life I have put my country first'. No media outrage about these statements but this old codger gets all the coverage he wants telling blatant lies about Obama. His 'campaign' is outrageous and doomed if this is all he has.

“People recognize they need new leadership, strong leadership,” Romney said. “Not somebody who is consistently putting himself and his party ahead of the interests of the nation.”

Which party should he be saying that about? How about the one that has hijacked our government and run it into the ground over the past 7 years? The dismal economy, oil prices, two wars that have gone on longer than Vietnam, domestic spying, outing CIA agents, a backwards education system, windfall profits, torture, a housing crisis.

Give me a reason NOT to elect Obama.

When Obama voiced his opposition to the Iraq war, he was a voice in the wilderness. There was, at the time, absolutely no political upside to taking that position. This attack is ridiculous.

Yeah,I saw that McCain voted against equal pay for women.
And I honor his service but geez,to use that as his sole reason as to why he should be president is disgusting.Obama didn't take a job on Wall Street and was a community organizer for years. He's donated thousands to charity, etc.I think the republicans went way to far on this one.I think it will turn people against them. They've gone way too far.
I don't think either candidate is evil or doesn't care about their country so for them to say this is way out of line.McCain needs to denounce this comment.McCain is no maverick because this is just a smear campaign.

“People recognize they need new leadership, strong leadership,” Romney said. “Not somebody who is consistently putting himself and his party ahead of the interests of the nation.” I absolutely agree and it is one of many reasons this former Hillary supporter will vote for McCain.

"Success on the ground" from the memo is a subjective term. Granted Obama decided to call the public financing system "broken" rather than admit opting out made better financial sense. I can't speak to OBama's reasoning on town hall meetings. Regarding the supply of energy, he doesn't necessarily have to be against increasing the supply to be working for the left wing. It could very well be due to his own reasons believing it to be right rather than it being a left-wing goal.

McWarmonger (the lousy pilot - not hero) that was shot down was "catered to" (if you get my drift) by a bunch of vietnamese women.

Why should he want to come home? He didn't love his country then - admitted it himself.

Go Away MCWARMONGER!!!! Go attend more secret meetings, or dream up a terrorist attack fake like Charlie Black said. It might improve your lousy campaign. ZZZZzzzzzzzz

Oh puh-leeze! Does McBush sound more desperate everyday??? It's laughable....really....I imagine they'll just keep throwing typical political slams and jams, hoping that something will resonate with those undecided voters....I think most folks will scratch their heads and wonder if John McCain is losing his mind!

Are you crazy?! Obama is trying to fix america from Bush! If anyone is selfish its John McLame! He won't run for a second term he said! So in his "4 years of change" he could screw us even more!! Ralph Nader is selfish! he made it so Gore/Lieberman didn't win! This proves that Obama is not at all selfish compared to these figures!

John McCain keeps inserting his POW status every chance he gets, just as Rudy Guiliana has with 9-11. Yes, he's a war hero, blah blah blah, but, this is a presidential election and John McCain is not the man for the job. John McCain will continue losing support every time he uses his POW status in this election.
I also remind voters that John McCain came home afer the war while many soldiers did not.

Their new way of painting him as an elitist. Good luck painting a guy raised by a single mother, one food stamps at one point, just got done paying off his student loans, as an elitist.

McCain was practically stamped with "Admiral" at birth.

And Obama's the elitist?

Okay...its becoming COMEDY watching this poor little man try anything to get Obama in a bad light. The republicans would have been better off trying to recruit Hillary to run for them. She was a tougher opponent against Obama than McCain is. I thought the general election was going to get rougher. This is just funny, now!

I'm sure McCain suffered greatly as a prisoner of war, but will somebody please explain how that would qualify him to be president or an expert of foreign policy! Perhaps the lesson he should have learned is that we ought to be very, very, very thoughtful and selective in deciding when, where and why to go to war.

This McCain bashing needs to stop. I'm a democrat but ever since the campaign began months and months ago I have never heard such nastiness as that from Obama supporters. First it was Clinton, now its McCain. Issues need to be discussed rather than nit picking. We all know Obama has CNN and MSNBC in his pocket but I don't think its fair to let them decide who will be president by always printing crap that they know will bring out the nastiness.

Whoever said McCain (mcsame) has more character is totally deluded. mcbush panders to whomever he thinks might get him elected. He has flip flopped so many times that he can't keep track of what he says. His track record is dismal. Because he was a prisoner of war during the Vietnam era does NOT qualify him for anything! He "pretends" to be a maverick, he's NOT, he "pretends" to be a straight talker, he lies! Character, NO, NO, NO! He will say anything, do anything to get "himself" elected. It is mcbush who puts himself first, he does NOT put this country first.

Obama has worked as a community organizer working for the needs of other Americans instead of being selfish and taking a lucrative job and forgetting about the needs of others. On the other hand McCain has flip floped on just about every issue that he feels will get him into the White House. McCain did not feel seniors needed the extra help of the stimulus package, he did not feel that vetarens needed better benefits in the new GI Bill and so forth. The only group that McCain feels needs help are those that are already wealthy by wanting to make the tax cuts permanat for those that do not need it. McCain wants the vote of the average American but is not willing to help out the average American.

First he was elitist, naive, arrogant , and now he put himself first. Sounds like one of those strategies from the Karl Rove's play book. But for some of us voters who reason critically, those personal attacks just won’t make us to falter in our support for Obama.

McCain, what happened to your pledge to have a campaign on nothing but issues? So far the only thing you have done is prove that you have no stand on issues so you are going to the right wing for play ideas and coming back with what they do best, attack.

I am sorry to say I have lost all respect for you, and in record time. It has only taken you 3 months to destroy any credibility you once held.

So while Obama talks about Policy Positions, Developing New Sources of Energy, Rising Gas Prices, Bettering Education for our children and Ending the Iraq War.....The GOP is talking about Obama.

Come on people wake up. McCain and the GOP are afraid to discuss the real issues and want to just play around in the mud. How is their talking about wether Obama is elitist, which he is not, or wther he puts himself first or not, which he doesn't, how is this going to help Americans and America.

The GOP are a bunch of cowards who would ratther focus silly things than the real issues that will help move America forward.

Obama puts himself first? Really?

John McCain has a glowing record of sacrifice and selfless service to his fellow man. Like when he cheated on his first wife because she had gotten fat (because she couldn't walk after being in a terrible car accident), then divorced her and married his doctor-shopping, charity-defrauding, cookie-recipe-stealing hundred million dollar angel of a wife Cindy, all while Ross Perot had been paying for his first wife's healthcare. That took huge guts and sacrifice on McCain's part. Really.

Then Obama was all like "I don't want to make millions as a lawyer, I want to help bring community and pride back to the inner city for very little pay." What a selfish jerk.

I've got news for the McCain/Rove/Bush/Cheney clan. Your dynasty is OVER. Change is coming to Washington, one way or the other. The American people are fed up with the lies and fear-mongering, and the raping of this country. I use to say I was a proud Republican. Now I'm just SICK of what that Party has done to this country.

Saddle up boys, because a new sherriff is headed to town.

I sure hope McCain and his campaign keep up the irrelevant personal attacks until November. That way, we will not be in danger of forgetting what partisan, do-nothing politics sounds like. The Republicans have used these tactics to promote a climate of fear for the past 12 years, fracturing this country and driving out hope. They just don't seem to get it that the "base" of this country lives on Main Street, not Wall Street. Enough with the whiny babies--let's get some committed adults in office.

Hey Bud,

Obama didn't vote against the war, he said that he was against the war.

Obama wasn't in the senate at the time, he was still at the state level of government. So it is easy to be against something when you don't even have a vote!!

Also, Obama has cast more "present" votes as a U.S. senator than he has voted "Yes" or "No".

"In what appears to be the latest line of attack, the McCain campaign released a memo Thursday accusing rival Barack Obama of putting his own “self-interest” ahead of his party and American citizens."

It kind of reminds me of someone......(cough).....President Bush....

So what has McCain done as a politician?

If Rove wants a definition of "arrogant", why doesn't he look at Cheney?

THANK YOU!!!! Obama talks about reaching across the aisle and compromise but when has he ever done anything to work with Republicans or take a stand that put him at odds with his core supporters? He cares only about himself and saying and doing what's popular at any given moment. How can he be trusted to make hard decisions that may not exactly be popular?

Case in point, he opts out of public financing after saying earlier on he would accept it. The he votes for government eavesdropping after decrying it throughout the primaries.
