I wonder what it takes to become a state that is strong for Obama. To have a 13 and 17 pt lead in a state, as is the case in WI and MN, and only be considered "leaning" for Obama is conservative at best. In addition to that, there has only been one poll recently that suggests the election is close nationally. In the last few weeks several polls have shown Obama is pulling ahead. I agree it is too early for the Obama team to start measuring the White House drapes, but I would much rather be sitting in his position then McCain's.

wow--the arrogance of you obama folks never ceases to amaze me. It is your narrow-minded, condescending attitude that is going to keep a lot of HIllary supporters out of your camp. And trust me you need us, even Obama is begging now. When will you realize that this is not a high school football game. This is important and if Obama wants to win all of you need to act like grown-ups and start reaching out to people who have not agreed with you rather than contstantly insulting them. Your guy also needs to pick the only turly qualified person for VP (Hillary) otherwise we will have another republican in the white house. Grow up kids, we've seen these nice speeches before--need a little substance too. So, stop crowing and get to work trying to mend some fences otherwise it is going to be another long 4 years!

Ha! Ha! Seems like the McCain supporters are getting a little nervous. They scoff at the polls where OBAMA is ahead and "cling" to one that has them "tied". OBAMA will win in November! Have you listened to one of McCain's speeches or town hall meetings? What a joke. Come on, Let's say it together--"President Obama"!!

Everytime I read these comments on CNN, it makes me sick to think people actually live in some mental state of idiocy.

Contrary to what the liberal media will force down your throat, polls mean as much to this election as Al Gore means to global warming. Doesn't mean a thing. It has been proven over and over again that people will say one thing and vote another. Obama never won as big as projected. Look it up.

Jealousy, envy, loss of control, it really shows many would like to be on Obama’s side but can’t so they try to pull him down instead. Most typical of men to do this.

Seems like I remember the shocked look on a woman's face when she was interviewed on the national news, saying " I don't know anyone who voted for Reagan!" So maybe she needed to widen her circle of friends. Or her horizons. Or her closed little liberal mind.

To Larry of Boston...

You do know that Black media, or even Black voters, are not the reason he won the nomination, right? But we'll go ahead and add this to the list of things that are the fault of Black people. lol

Since the Democratic Party hand-picked the nominee, maybe we should all just let CNN use their experience and wisdom to pick the President -- NOT!

These news agencies are still trying to influence the election. We, the people, cannot let that happen. Obama does not represent the majority of this country and it is our job, the people of this country, to make our voices heard.

November will be perfect timing to show the Democratic Party and the news agencies that we, the people, still choose our President.

Democrats for McCain!

Although I am an Obama supporter, we need to very cautious about all of these early polls, it is just for communication purposes. You have to wonder who are these people polling, what demographics? I have never had anyone to call me, never.

I notice that you still have New Mexico projected as leaning for McCain. For the last two months polling has been running for Obama at about a 5% margin on average. Even some strongly Republican wed sites are shoing as leaning toward Obama? What does it take for your "experts" to keep up to date?

Even though I'm an Obama supporter, CNN, please choose your words better. Stating that he only needs 39 more electoral votes.........this is only June and even though everything is in place for a Democratic win, the republicans are not going to just lay down.

This is good news, but it is still early. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Definitely with Obama and Hillary playing nice, this can only turn out well. "With our powers combined, I am Captain Planet!" ... Captain Planet (the 80's or 90's cartoon) would be a great campaign slogan...lol

Dear "Typical"
It's interesting that you mentioned the North Korea diplomacy progress, since that seemed to be the exact thing Bush tried to chastise Obama for last month. I guess Obama's Reagan-style diplomatic approach was correct after all. In fact, it kind of made Bush look somewhat hypocritically "appeasing" I believe were his choice of words.

Anyway, it's great to see Obama doing well. Let's keep the momentum going and take back our country for all Americans.

Angel,

I agree, our president should be elcted by the people. The GOP did steal the last two elections.

If you follow that train of theougt OBAMA SHOULD NOT BE THE NOMINEE. he DID NOT win the popular vote in the primaries.

This is why Obama ran a great primary, he proved that the swing states can also be won in the GE.. The Repubs are very vulnerable and the swing states are up for grabs. People are tired, hurt, unemployed, no health care, a insane, useless war, gas prices absolutely off the roof, shall go on....it's no wonder.

In 12 of the 16 last presidential elections the front runner in June polls won the election. The other four had to do with very unpopular presidents, which in this election benefits Obama even more.

I'm really offended that CNN has allowed so many anti-Obama posts on this site, all of which have vaguely racist undertones.

It's 2008, people!!!

Time to stop with the distractions. The American people will not fall for racist-driven pandering this time!!!

Fellow Obama supporters, don't get to comfortable. We're only finishing the first lap of a mile long run, so there is a chance that we could still lose. I've seen it before, people get confortable with a big lead then blow it in the end. Just always remember it's not whether you lead in the beginning or middle of the race, the only thing that matters is who crosses the finish line first.

I am in Germany and all I can say is that the International Community is extremely eager to work with a President who is willing to resolve complex issues multilaterally, they are tired of being dictated to by the Bush Administration. Obamas is not the solution, his willingness to engage is.

We live an a world of global problems and global opportunities that require global consensus. The oxymoron that your opponents 'hate freedom' has to stop. What we all hate hypocrisy.

Nice job by some to compare Obama 08 to Dukakis 88. If you don't realize the different between the years, they are obvious. Dukakis was trying to defeat a vice president of a popular president while Obama is trying to defeat a senator who is in lock step an unpopular president.

This is far from over. Just like the Bush/Cheney "shock and awe" campaign in Iraq wait until the McCain/conservative right "smear and fear" campaign is unleashed in full force by the Republicans against Obama. This will influence a lot of voters who fall back voting based on negativity and not hope and positive values.

Keep in mind that when all else fails, the right wing nuts will turn to their ace in the hole - fear. They will raise the threat of a terrorist attack, or if necessary, create one that will send many voters to the man they feel will protect them in times of peril - McCain.

Its just a poll people and its showing two things; People are willing to give change a real look this year and Secondly, its going to be close. All during the primaries all Clinton said was "he's unelectable, he can't win" But its showing that even though it was a tight race, he is still doing pretty well. A poll is end all be all but it shows how it may trend.

You PUMA/ "Clinton or McCain" people (who are not the same as Clinton supporters or Democrats) used to LOVE polls... until she wasn't doing well in them. Just like you had no problem with caucuses until after Iowa... then they were undemocratic (although no one complained about them when Bill ran). And, just like she had no problem with MI & FL not counting... until she was losing. Seems like if its not good for you, its not important. Just your candidate didn't win so now its voting against your interests. Seems like your "bitter".

It seems many things going Obama's way and he is getting all the press. Do we want a return to higher taxes? Obama has stated we need to return to the rates we had before the Bush tax cuts. I hope everyone will take time to examine the true implications of the policies set forth by a person with no tangible legislative history and see through all of the demonizing of Bush's policies. I don't believe that everything Bush did was a disaster and the things going on economicaly are not his doing. Don't rush to annoint Obama President until McCain has truely laid his plan out.

I"m tired of people talkin about experience. Where has Bush's experience taken us; foreclosures, wars, high gas prices, etc. What did Hillary's experience take her; 22 MILLION dollars in debt during the PRIMARY season. If that's the kind of experience you all are talking about i'll put my chips with the Junior Senator from illinois.

well whichever candidate wins there is a two word reponse for every american "YOU LOSE". these candidates were chosen by wolf blitzer and are not equipped mentally or in any other proven capacity to have executive talent, no budgeting experience, have never run a business or an institution.

walking into the white house these two: nepotist mccain and affirmative action obama will be totally overwhelmed.

these men have had NO-SHOW jobs in the senate.
what exactly does the senate do?
do they have reponsilibities?
are they accountable for anything?

Minnesota has NEVER been a Republican state. A few pockets here and there. Even the Senator (Slick Norm) and Pawlenty were true blue Democrats in their smarter days. Where you getting your information?????????????

You list Iowa and Colorado as "toss ups" yet I can't find a single poll from the last several months with McCain leading in either one. How are you defining "toss up?"

Angel, don't be ridiculous. The electoral college is a good thing. It prevents there from being a recount in every freakin hamlet just to double check the popular vote. Also, the GOP has never "stolen" an election. The Founding Fathers wrote this into the Constitution for the good of the people, and you would be stupid to question the supreme law of the land.
