Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

(CNN) — Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton appeared together Friday at a rally in Unity, New Hampshire, a town where they tied in the January primary.

Watch: Obama says Clinton 'rocks'

"We may have started on separate paths … today our hearts are set on the same destination for America … to elect Barack Obama as the next president of the United States," Clinton said.

Watch: Clinton praises Obama

"We are one party, we are one America," she added.

The two Democrats walked onstage together to U2's song, "Beautiful Day" as an enthusiastic crowd chanted "Yes we can!"

Some of CNN's reporters are saying things like "Hillary thought she deserved to be president," and now "Hillary's supporters are bitter…."

This is NOT TRUE! Hillary has never said she deserves the presidency. That is the media talking (and I heard it on CNN this morning).

This is NOT TRUE! We Hillary supporters are not "bitter." We got turned off big time by the cruel and nasty comments made about Hillary early on and continuing to the last primary by Obama's young followers. I have read many blogs with these comments.

Come on, CNN. Your people are speaking this minute about this "bitterness." Can't your reporters come up with something else to talk about?

Hey, CNN Pundits, why not send out a call for responses to the argument that Hillary (and Bill) HAVE to give nominal support to O if she wants a unified party for her 2012 run after O's close defeat in November. Remember you're supposed to be a balanced media (unlike the other guys who incidentally as you know are attracting more viewers since your skewed reporting on the primary).

Great rally and a good beginning of the general election campaign. If this was an audition for vp, Senator Clinton certainly won the part. I cannot think of any other democrat who can more convincingly support the election of a democratic president this year. She gives a good speech and no one more believes in the changes that are needed in the country than Hillary Clinton. She has preached it for the primary campaign and she is a firm believer. She is committed and determined and she has not only the courage of her convictions but has proved her loyalty over the years that she will have the courage of his convictions. You would have the two most popular democrats on the ticket and would be unstoppable for November

I am energized even more than ever to make sure that the Democrats are running this country in January of 2009. Hillary seemed more natural and at ease in Unity NH this day. I have been for Obama since early on. If I had seen this side of her during the primary season it would have been a much more difficult choice.

Ex-mod-GOP for Obama   June 27th, 2008 2:10 pm ET

Let's keep this up. I think it would be wise — and not just for political reasons — for Obama to consider Clinton for a top-level post in his administration. The bottom line is she can get things done.

This "sweet little romance" shows you how dedicated Clinton is to her ideals and how easily she can climb in bed with an opponent who treated her is a sexist way during the primary. I don't trust either one of them.

I am let down   June 27th, 2008 2:10 pm ET

I heard every word that Mr. Obama just said in this speach. However I heard nothing, I heard him state all the "choices" in this election. However heard no information on how he plans to do anything. Why does this man never explain how he plans to do the things he says he will do, Just the result? We are to just take him at his word, that the result will happen and not know HOW??? I was an Obama supporter however I can't say now that I am going to vote for either man. Mr. McCain at least will talk to people and EXPLAIN what he has in mind. Additionally I am really starting to see the diffrence between Mr. McCain and Mr. Bush.

Oh my oh my, they both called each other the worst of the names, and they are best friends. Is there something called "Self Respect" in their dictionary. This is how McCain is different from both of these. Democrats are most probably going to take the white house, but the fact is it will not make a difference, and people can blame George W all they want, the excesses started under Clinton and George W had to pay for it. This is what happens when Media is so excessively democratic biased.

By the way Miss Clinton, with that 20 million that you are asking from people, we could take that same 20 million and feed 2 million children for a year, oh I am sorry, but your high standard of living is rather more important than those 2 million children.

A Believer   June 27th, 2008 2:14 pm ET

Seeing Senators Obama and Clinton onstage together made me, as a young woman, burst with pride. So many boundaries have fallen in this race. Let us put aside our differences (they are generally so small), and look to the future. Both Obama and Clinton are forward thinking politicians who are amazingly in touch with what America needs today. Let's not allow neo-con smears and rhetoric color what we really know Obama can do. We know that Obama is a change on many, many levels. Let him be the change we so desperately need. Staying the course has gotten us to this point - a crippled dollar, a banking industry with no regulations, foreign dependance on oil killing us at the pump. Let us remember that this is what 8 years of "staying the course" can do.
We need change.

Cynthia   June 27th, 2008 2:14 pm ET

If I were Barack Obama… I would run what is called a BLITZ or a FULL COURT PRESS on McCain. I would take Hillary, Bill, and Oprah on a state by state tour where they can take turns either holding the big rally or having the more intimate setting with voters. In Florida for example, you could have Obama in Jacksonville, Bill in some senior citizens home, Hillary can tear it up in Miami, while Oprah gets some excitement in Orlando. THEY CAN PULL OF A STRATEGY LIKE THIS IN EVERY STATE. THERE IS NO WAY THAT MCSAME CAN MATCH THIS KIND OF ENTHUSIASM. LETS NOT JUST TRY TO BEAT MCCAIN…. LETS STEAMROLL THE OLD MAN!!!!

I appauled Senator Clinton's help. However, NO CLINTON ON THAT TICKET! I mean its nice now, and its good to have her support, but its a bad idea. Not just because of the things she said during the primary but the Republicans will come out in DROVES against the Clintons. Not to mention, some of the scandals the Clintons may be involved in. Obama needs someone with foreign policy experience and Clinton isn't on the top of that list. Sorry, but I do want to win and I don't see it with Clinton on the ticket. But I do (even though I don't particularly care for her behavior) wish her all the luck in the world with whatever she wants to pursue.

McCain is not the man to take us through these uncertain and unhappy times. No matter how much the media portrays McCain as a maverick and a centrist, he is beholden to the same interests as Bush. If Obama is elected, he could create a new democratic coalition which would include significant numbers from all the major demographic groups, i.e., men, women, affluent, poor, black, white. It would rival that of the New Deal coalition built by Franklin Roosevelt.

Jim in GA   June 27th, 2008 2:25 pm ET

As a Clinton backer, I for one will NEVER cast my ballot for Obama. The media is trying to down play the reluctance of Hillary supporters to back Obama. It’s all part of a campaign to make them fee left out if they don’t get behind him. The smart ones will figure it out.

CNN – why are you not reporting the results of the new Time Magazine poll? It shows that Obama only has a 4 point lead. Funny how you raised the LA Times and Newsweek polls right up the flag pole once they came out because they gave Obama double digit leads. The one that shows a much tighter races gets swept under the carpet. What a farce.

HEY HILLARY SUPPORTERS – BACK A WAR HERO NOT A TOTAL ZERO

Edward   June 27th, 2008 2:25 pm ET

I'd like to write to all of the Obama supporters who hate Hillary: She's human, her campaign made mistakes, and chief among those was underestimating Obama. She never disliked, and neither did Bill, so this isn't suprising that these two would be genuinely frindly with one another. And here's my note to the so-called PUMA pac: get over yourselves! Can you really sit there and say, "If not Hillary, I'll vote McCain."? The simple answer is, no you can't! Because if you answer "yes we can!" then you are just a hypocrite, right?

Peter E   June 27th, 2008 2:25 pm ET

So where did all that "she'll continue to campaign" and "will take it to the Convention" and "she'll take the party down with her" and "she's going to be selfish and arogant to the end" go?

Oh, so NOW Hillary is no longer the cause of all evil in this country, now that Obama's campaign needs her?

STILL FOR HILL   June 27th, 2008 2:26 pm ET

To Obama Campain:

Please don't call me again. I will not be contributing. I'm still on the fence and I am still waiting to see how many times Obama flip flops before I cast my vote against him. Currently, I have three:

1. Iran a big threat or a little threat
2. Ban on handguns or No ban on hand guns
3. Public finance or no public finance

So far, I know who the say or do anything candidate is… and it's Obama.

Plus, McCain is right. We need to be drilling for oil and building more nuclear power plants.. Energy independence is not just an economic problem, it also effects national security.

Was for Hill, now for McCain

David in Chicago   June 27th, 2008 2:26 pm ET

Whooohooo!!! Obama and Hilliary!! United!! I DO hope she's on the ticket as VP!! I really do!! But, if not.. I know we must march on to make change!!

To all the Hillary voters, I'm shaking your hand and thanking you so much for unity!! GO UNITY!! :) :)

Oh, and to those Hillary democrats who are still angry.. and want to vote McCain instead… you stand alone now : /

disgusted   June 27th, 2008 2:26 pm ET

Yes, DON'T be FOOLED… by Obama and his hateful wife Michelle. I am NOT a republican but I am not a democrat either. I vote for the BEST candidate.

I voted for Hillary and that doesn't mean I'll vote for Obama boy. Get real.

PUMA - we know what happened in the caucuses and with the DNC. We won't forget.

Tonybel   June 27th, 2008 2:26 pm ET

Ohiobo, J From Canada   June 27th, 2008 2:26 pm ET

Together, they will go places. United, they will stand and prevail in November. But, divided they will fall and McCain will prevail in November. The twenty two million dollars question is are both their supporters willing and able to see the big picture? The country needs both of them and their supporters united.

ls   June 27th, 2008 2:26 pm ET

Obama and Hillary together targeting unity among the American people is going to be very positive, powerful, and exciting to watch.

McCain and his Republican camp mightest-well put their pencils down and take the rest of the summer off.

Go Obama and Hillary !!

ANOTHER DEMOCRAT FOR MCCAIN   June 27th, 2008 2:26 pm ET

LET THE SPIN BEGIN!

Hillary and Barack were at each others throats and now they want us to believe they're united? Please.

We have already BLOWN this election just like we blew it in 2004 and 2000.

At least McCain is a moderate and I can live with that over the INSANITY of Obama. He is RUINING the Democratic Party and forcing me to vote Republican!!! Gah!!!!

jimmy velman   June 27th, 2008 2:27 pm ET

WE ARE NOW MORE CONVINCED THAN EVER THAT HILLARY CLINTON SHOULD BE OBAMA'S VP PICK. HAVE JUST SEEN THE UNITY RALLY IN N.H. TODAY. HILLARY CLINTON WAS TERRIFIC
OBAMA'S SPEECH WAS NOT AS GOOD AS HILLARY'S, YET OBAMA IN NOT SO SUBTLE WAY HAS RULED HILLARY OUT OF HIS VP CHOICE. NOT BECAUSE OF HILLARY'S CREDENTIALS BUT BECAUSE " WHAT WOULD THEY DO WITH BILL CLINTON?"
BILL CLINTON WILL STAY IN THE BACKGROUND, BECAUSE HE HAS LEARNED HIS LESSON, HILLARY DID NOT NEED HIM AND CERTAINLY NOT OBAMA. OBAMA'S TEAM IS WHAT IS KEEPINGHILLARY FROM THE VP SPOT AND IT IS BECAUSE OF BILL CLINTON.. OF COURSE THE OBAMA AND HIS TEAM BELIEVE THEY DO NOT NEED HILLARY TO WIN. BILL CLINTON WILL DO WELL TO STAY OUT OF THE CAMPAIGN AND STAY IN EUROPE.OR OUT OF SIGHT AND SOUND. IF HE PROMISED TO DO THAT PERHAPS OBAMA MIGHT RECONSIDER AND PICK HILLARY AS HIS VP. THERE ARE STILL MILLIONS WAITING TO FIND OUT WHICH OF THE WANNABEE VP'S OBAMA AND CAMP WILL CHOOSE.
HILLARY'S SUPPORTERS IN THE MILLIONS HAVE NOT QUITE MADE UP THEIR MINDS ON OBAMA. ONCE OBAMA'S CAMP MAKE THEIR VP CHOICE. THERE WILL BE A SHUFFLING TO OR FROM OBAMA 'S CAMP OF THE MILLIONS OF HILLARY SUPPORTERS.
WE ARE VERY CERTAIN OF THAT.

She is just doing this stunt to get the debt off of her which Obama should pay for since he made her spend millions for no good reason even thought she was to be the nominee since 2006 when it was determined so.

Young African American Male for Hillary   June 27th, 2008 2:28 pm ET

Great speech from Senator Clinton. Affirms why I love that lady so much. Her tenacity and grit and courage baffles me each time. I am slowly warming up to Senator Obama. Maybe time will heal it all but today was a start.

A JOB WELL DONE!!!!

He wants to increase the welfare rolls with your tax dollars and she wants everyone whether they need it or not to have health care.

Very attractive team wouldn't you say. But for me, I'll take J. McCain

He has experience and leadership qualities rarely found in a US Senator.

Republican Joe   June 27th, 2008 2:29 pm ET

I have no choice but to vote democratic this election. I watch both candidates rallies and I can say that McCain's rallies are so boring, it's like being at a funeral. No body smiling, cheering, and everyone looks like a zombie. With Obama everyone is smiling, cheering, and having a great time. The people in McCain's background are the 36% who are enthusiatic about the candidate and they don't look like it. After going to one of his rallies the people there are probably going to vote for Barack but won't tell anyone.

Jim   June 27th, 2008 2:30 pm ET

God at first I couldn't stand the thought of seeing HIllary as his VP but wow these 2 look amazing togather, having her as VP would really make this unity one for the history books. Honestly, I'm all for it now!

Their are two ways to control people. Fear and de-moralization. Don't give up, don't be afraid, move forward!! You and your vote DO COUNT!!

Roofin Reality, Houston, Tx.   June 27th, 2008 2:31 pm ET

MCR, not so fast my friend.
Both Reps and Dems have problems. But the Dems right now are way more likely to stand up and be accounted for vs. the Reps, at least in IDing themselves as a Dem.
It's early, so we'll see.
But, if things stay the same as they are now, Senator Obama can win from 272 to 310. Anything over 290 is closing in on a landslide.

I do believe the popular vote will be a landslide in favor of Obama. But, we can't, and shouldn't, count out Senator McCain yet. I just don't like his campaign, his changes of positions and the fact that even some Reps are advertising that they've (Senator Gordon in Oregeon trying to get reelected) worked with Obama.

wycliffe, NJ   June 27th, 2008 2:31 pm ET

Chuck, Democrats United We Stand   June 27th, 2008 2:31 pm ET

I must adimit this is the first real good feeling I have had in a very long time. Hillary sounded more honest, sincere and heart felt in her words than I have heard in a very long time. It is time, time for this country to come together under one idea, one process and that is to change the way we as a country take care of our own people. There is an old saying that equates to this, you can not police someone's house if your own house is a disasture, and we are one messed up place right now. Say good bye to the ways of the past 8 years and lets start building towards a greater and better future for all Americans as well as all people of this world.

Matthew   June 27th, 2008 2:31 pm ET

He needs to put her on the ticket. Over 17 million Americans have already voted for her ans she ran in all 50 states. No one else has that kind of recognition and ability to hit the ground running without having to be introduced to the American people. She immediately puts Arkansas, Kentucky and West Virginia into play, solidifies Ohio and Pennsylvania and gives us a fighting chance again in Florida. She brings back a nice chunk of the Reagan Democrats and helps Obama with seniors, women and Latinos. She knows how to fight Republicans and can go off and do it, leaving Obama to get back on his "hope" and "change" message which he has been diverted from. Plus, her ultimate destiny is tied to his. If he loses - with or without her on the ticket - she will be blamed. That's why she'll work her heart out for him because it ultimately benefits her.

No other potential VP can bring so much to the table. If he cannot see that, I really question his judgment.

Independent and Happy   June 27th, 2008 2:31 pm ET

The message of unity is bigger than Obama and Hillary Clinton. The issues are bigger than Obama and Clinton. Therefore, the two candidates needed to put their egos aside to work towards a common goal. They need to work together to change the direction the country is going. The last eight years have been a disgrace.

jfs Memhis, Tn   June 27th, 2008 2:32 pm ET

I thought both Hillary and Barack did what they had to do to obtain unity in the party, but I think he needs to have someone different on the ticket. It would look good for the democratics to have her on the ticket, but the republicans would not vote for her because she has been so polorizing in the past. I also don't think Bill Clinton would agree to being vetted, due to his business overseas with his speaking tour and his library foundation. Hillary could be on his cabinet as one who could make the health care happen for all Americans. She would be an important part of that process that I feel would be very rewarding to her.

JB   June 27th, 2008 2:33 pm ET

Bayousara-

You are wrong. Hillary's campaign early on claimed it was "a campaign of inevitability". That is a quote. As in it is inevitable that Hillary will become President.

And you all are bitter. Bitter that you lost. Give me one other reason that you would be so anti obama. Your explaination as it is hs supporters fault is invalid.

HRC supporters have been awful to Obama. You people claim he stole the election, how? And don' say caucuses, he followoed the rules and won by the rules.

You crazy cat lady HRC supporters are bitter. You try to claim it was an anti woman agenda that caused it. YOU ARE WRONG. It was an anti Hillary campaign. Unless you believe all woman lie, cheat and act extremely hypocritical.

Hillary did more to hurt the woman's movement than help. Boo hoo you call on me first all the time. Or (sob sob sob) "it gets hard".

Or, duck, sniper fire everywhere. She is a terrible person (notice I did not say woman, but person). Where ae her tax returns or her husbands library financials.

And finally you claim Obama is inexperience. If that is the case then HRC was even more inexperienced. Or does knitting in the white house give you experience?

scotty   June 27th, 2008 2:33 pm ET

She did her part Iam not sure he really did his and was kinda Arrogant once again but its a personal trait I guess. now nuff of the cheese lets try to won a campain (it will be his first true win) but a win is the prize where after now lets See your proof you have worked for it.

Veronica in Texas   June 27th, 2008 2:33 pm ET

The Clinton's have always said they would support whomever the Democratic nominee is. Michelle is the one who stated she and Barack might not support Hillary if she got the nomination. Hillary has always expressed love and loyalty to the Democratic party even when the party has not supported her. I am sure it took a lot of pride to stand on stage knowing beside Obama knowing that you are more qualified and have sacrified much more for this got . I for one will not support the Democratic party in the general election. This DNC and media chose Obama with all the negative and outright nasty comments about Hillary and Bill. The level of hartred directed toward the Clinton's was unforgettable. If the Obama supporters represent the "new" Democrats, then this is obviously no longer the party for me.

Leroy   June 27th, 2008 2:33 pm ET

It really boggles my mind when people say Obama is not qualified to be president. I think his campaign shows that he is. I mean really, you think Hillary is more qualified? how is that? With the economy being arguably the top issue and looking how she managed her campaign finances, do you really think she is more qualified?

That was a good start for Senator Obama today in Unity, NH he has a long way to go yet and needs to be prepared for the "swift-boating" the ultra-conservative wing of the Republican party will do in the general election that will make the 2004 attacks on Sen. Kerry look like childs play.

Dennis   June 27th, 2008 2:37 pm ET

That was great. I was glad to see it. I think Senator Clinton has a home in an Obama administration.

It is inevitable that a Clinton supporter is going to show up and say that Senator Clinton is just doing this to retire her debt, and that she doesn't really support Senator Obama, and that she'll win the presidendcy in 2012. I know it is going to come up, so I'll go ahead and ask. Do you really think that? If you are really a supporter of Senator Clinton, do you really think she would be that deceitful? And if so, would you really want someone like that to be President?

I believe she is sincere. I suspect she is disappointed by the outcome of the primaries. However, she and legions of her supporters have rallied behind Senator Obama. I believe they will help Senator Obama win the presidency.

Peter E   June 27th, 2008 2:37 pm ET

Yes I agree that some of these posters must be fake. Of course Hillary said she deserved the presidency, lol. If she didn't feel she deserved it she wouldn't have ran. She wouldn't have let people announce her as the next president of the US. Every presidential candidate should believe with all their heart and soul that they deserve to be president. Next, why would you be so upset and turned off against Barack Obama behind some things his "young supporters" said? As if there weren't the same amount or more of Clinton supporters spewing all kinds of nonsense about Obama. Why weren't you turned off from Clinton because of them?

Brian, NJ   June 27th, 2008 2:42 pm ET

To MCR

The Democrats may have some problems now but we will unite in time to kick some McCain's butt.

UNITY IN UNITY!
=============

Congratulations on your first united campaign, Barack and Hillary supporters!

Now I know that this might just be wishful thinking, but here goes anyway. From today going forward, please folks, NO MORE NEGATIVE COMMENTS aimed at BARACK OR HILLARY. (See I told you it might just be wishful thinking but I am still wishing).

From this day onward, the only NEGATIVE COMMENTS ON THESE BLOGS, should be directed towards, ?????????? Yes you got it JOHN McCAIN………Now be truthful, for both Hillary's, and Barack's supporters…….wouldn't this be a wonderful way to GO FORWARD UNITED? From here to November it's UNITED DEMOCRATS against McCAIN!

I live in Italy and everybody here is prayiny for Obama, cause that will surely bring a lot of change that the whole world dearly needs…listening to Hillary tonight is really touching and Obama must really be pushed to do a better job after such a wonderfull discussion from Hillary

I'm still not sold on her as VP. Maybe as an African American their shots still sting a little bit. Maybe by August I will have changed my mind!

Michael Lorton, Virginia   June 27th, 2008 2:45 pm ET

I'm just wondering how much influence Hillary's "unity" will have on Obama when it come time to choosing a running mate? There is something in this for Hillary……..and that you can take to the bank.

Its time for CHANGE

AK in LA   June 27th, 2008 2:45 pm ET

YEAH!
Glad you are back Hillary. The campaign so far between Obama and McCain has a big snore. Wake me when it's over.

Linda31   June 27th, 2008 2:45 pm ET

I heard the speech and was very impressed with both of them. Going to be a great election.

Ladyhawkke   June 27th, 2008 2:45 pm ET

There is no unity within the Democratic Party and the Unity Event was a farce. The DNC broke it's own rules and stole the nomination from Hillary by awarding Obama uncommitted delegates plus 4 delegates that were Hillary's. Dean, Pelosi, Reid and all the traitors pushed her out of the race even as she was winning. I am a proud PUMA and will never vote for Obama whom I consider a divider, racist and liar. He played the race card against the Clintons although it was he who used it to bamboozle the AA community to vote against Hillary. The man is unqualified and unfit for office. If Hillary does not take it to the convention, I will vote for John McCain.

Janet in MO   June 27th, 2008 2:45 pm ET

They look good together.. I am an Obama fan, however, I like Clinton too.. I must admit they look good in their Blue! What a Team!

Raymond Duke   June 27th, 2008 2:45 pm ET

I like to read the blogs but I can't really comment on this unity deal. As far as me I have already made up my mind when hillary was put out. I went to the next competent person. John McCain. It is over for me except casting my vote in november for John McCain.

Alex   June 27th, 2008 2:46 pm ET

Well, I hope this keeps up, thought the republican machine is really something, they don't give up. We can't stand down and think its over, we need to keep up the fight as strong as possible till Nov 4th!

Why the bittnerness?   June 27th, 2008 2:46 pm ET

I notice a lot of bitter, spiteful comments here from Hillary supporters. If you were true democrats, your ultimate concern would be the party. The party is finally coming together in terms of the candidates, but the voters need to follow suit. Choose priorities over pride, folks. It's the intelligent and adult way to live your life.

nitro   June 27th, 2008 2:46 pm ET

Veronica in texas you seem to be the only one that has not excepted the fact that Obama won the nomination. Since you are from Texas could it be that you are really a republican.

Michael   June 27th, 2008 2:47 pm ET

I was once against a "unity" ticket but, it may not be that bad as long as Bill Clinton can let Obama do his job.

Obama/Clinton 08
Yes we will!!

Jeff   June 27th, 2008 2:47 pm ET

Obama can't win.

Don't blame me, I voted for Hillary. I've also lost all interest in this thing. And no I'm not a fake poster - he's simply not experienced enough
