McCain is more devoted to big oil than to this country. He supports increasing the already insane profits of these companies by indicating that he is for opening up off-shore drilling.
If he truly wants America to have energy independence, then he would be taking steps to cut back on the tax credits given to American big oil companies unless they can prove that they are using their profits for research and development of alternative energy. Any oil company that cannot prove that they are working on alternative energy should face heavy fines. The tax credits should be based soley on the amount of dollars going into that R & D.

Do not be fooled by the appearance of unity. Obama and Clinton are not the party. We the people are and we do not like Obama. You can pour a bottle of perfume on a pig and he still smells like a pig.

Did you feel the same scorn when the swiftboat folks were attacking John Kerry? He wasn't a pow, but he did serve, and was mercilessly attacked.

He served, but that doesn't make him an untouchable icon personally or professionally. Obama and his wife are personally being smeared – sorry, if the mccain camp and the gop wants to dish it out, they better expect to get some in return. Hey, the Lexington Project can do for America what the Manhattan Project did for Japan. Any energy policy that does not stress the consumption side first, renewable sources second, and oil and nuclear last is simply a bad idea. Long term solutions for long term problems. No band aid short term solutions and then forgetting the problem – that's what happened after the 1970s, which is exactly why we're in this mess now.

I can very easily see us drilling more and building a bunch of nuke plants and then as soon as the price of oil goes down to $60, we forget all about this until the next oil shock 10 or 20 years from now. Are we really that dumb? We were the last time.

I have been sitting back and watching this FARCE of an election process. The childishness of the candidates and the namecalling is only a testimony to other countries of how truly messed up we all are. In the end, I will take a man who has served his country honorably over another who only "talks" about how he "would like to" serve his country. With Obama's "short" public service record, all he has is "talk" at this point- -nothing else!

I'm a Vietnam Vet....a registered Independent....and respect the hell out of what McCain has gone through for our country. His patriotism is beyond question. But his capacity, abilities and unfortunately his dearth of new ideas (that will work) mean that he's the WRONG guy for the challenges facing our country today. And wrapping himself in the flag won't do anything to give us confidence in his ability to lead us forward.

I honestly have a concern about McCain. Although I appreciate his service to this country during the war and his political service, I wonder just where his head is at because of the fact that he was in a POW camp for five years.

There is a psychological toll that affects those that have been held. I have a friend that has stated that the elevator doesn't stop on his (my friends) top floor and he was held for about one year.

I also question his book of pictures that were taken when McCain was held. I know of no one who has any pictures of themselves as a POW. My question is how did his handlers know that John McCain was the son of an admiral? The viet cong were not up on world events let alone, who was who in the service in the United States.
I know because I was there.

If he is so devoted to this country than why wouldn't he support the last G.I. Bill? No McSame, No McBush.

I guess you want to see the Republicans get re-elected since you obviously hate Obama so much. Mike, it is definitely your right to dislike Obama for whatever reason, but to log entries here with the intent of being divisive is going beyond decency.

BTW, I wonder what divisive people like you are going to do if Obama wins in November? Are you going to continue to bash him? And heaven forbid if he also performs well and the country sees economic progress and prosperity. I shutter to think where your energies will go then.
