Obama visits Walter Reed

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama made a private, last-minute stop at Walter Reed Army Medical Center Saturday morning where he presumably visited with wounded veterans, though campaign aides both on and off site would not confirm, and a press pool was not allowed in the facility.

While the Illinois senator was inside, Obama's campaign simultaneously announced he would be making trips to both the Middle East and to Europe shortly this summer.

So the guy who shunned the military is out on a photo op. Whoop di do. Some people will use other's backs to get somewhere.

The problem with those idiots at the McCain's event and others of the same ilk is that they never ask the question what would happen if we departed?

We need a public discussion on what may happen if we leave Iraq, covering all the advantages and disadvantages.

If we would have had this, maybe bush and the neo's wouldn't have invaded. But we are there and we need a national discourse of some of our bright people.

Colin Powell said it's like the guy in the china closet dropping a cup. If you break it, you buy it.

So let's get Powell, some others and Shinsecki and try to find an intelligent, honorable way out of this mess. I think McCain can do that and I don't think the empty suit can.

I respect the fact that this was a visit that was NOT a photo op. He is determined to give our troops the care that they deserve. What is Bush doing about the homeless vets that served in his "war" based on lies? He invaded a country by creating false accusations. Our soldiers are KILLING themselves! McCain has not addressed these issues. Just because he is a vet does NOT entitle him to the presidency! He has failed to address the pressing issues that are affecting our veterans.

So, who cares!! No one really cares about the war, they only care whether it matters or not. Is sad but is true...

And let me reimd you that the vets are our people who sacrifice for our country. I wish I could say that for the men and women who lost their lives in this war..

One PR trip to Walter Reed won't be enough to erase the memory of his unpatriotic wife

If Obama visits Iraq and the other countries that are on his list, BE VERY AFRAID for the GOP!

This guy is beloved all over the world, and this trip will show Americans how much of a leader he is, and hw the world has not only accepted him, but CHOSEN him already.

I like that he chooses not to make everything a photo op. Somethings should be out of the camera's view and our vets deserve their privacy while trying to recover and heal. Besides these are the folks that have been closest to the fighting. The Senator should be listening to the opinions of the "Average Joe" as well as high ranking advisors.

Obama beat McBush to Walter Reed, just like in Iowa! Also, Barrack is more concerned about the American people than the Iraqis, unlike McBush the warpig.

Obama sincerely cares about our veterans votes for bills to improve benefits for them. McCain has 30 plus years in the Senate to issure better benefits for veterans and still he does nothing. McCain wants Obama to visit Iraq to see the progress for his selfish political purposes but hasn't supported anything for the returning veterans.

It amazes me, why so many; are against the "War effort" in Iraq, now. Wars and rumors of war; have built the "character" of this Nation. Someone, must "fight and die, and be injured". in these Wars; that's what war is............its not "a pretty picture, to see". Our "enemies" are hoping; that "we", haven't the "stomach" or "will" or "fortitude", to "stay the course", after them. You can deal, with "them" now; or you can deal with "them" later.......the choice is your's, alone. I hope, America makes; the "Right Choice!", always........................God Bless America!

Point 1 – Iraq is probably the place where more top-grade american personnel is posted. So he's not helping anyone (apart from his campaign) if he goes there and resources have to be diverted to guarantee his security, etc.). I presume he can get trustworthy information from plenty of people on-site. Why the rush??

Point 2 – Americans want to get out of Iraq and not to get a presidential candidate and a whole bunch of FBI agents in just to parade around. I'd suggest, if necessary, a quick in and out, unannouced in and out just to show the soldiers he cares (and he can best show he cares by bringing them home safe and guaranteeing them some compensation for services rendered).

Point 3 – Obama can best help by securing good relationships and a sane peace with the rest of the world and that he seems prepared to do.

Bush Jr. voted against helping Vets. What does a photo-op in Iraq do for the troops? (Oh, it diverts their attention )

You know willy, it's comments like yours that make me wonder where your head is besides up your... No one has been able to change Iraq except for the worse. If we think that it is worth the lives of our young men and women then we should continue to expose them to the dangers that lurk in the Middle East. They have been fighting ages due to the bad blood between sibblings. We have sought to force our ways and our thinking down their throats. By your statement, which says nothing by the way, you appear to be for McCain and are making your comments in this arena for some sort of point. However, you know what they say about opinions. They are compared to something every one has. And yours stinks to high heaven.
