WASHINGTON (CNN) — The Straight Talk Express — perhaps the most visible symbol of Arizona Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign — is taking to the skies.

The Republican Party's presumptive nominee will unveil his new campaign airplane on Monday: a Boeing 737-400.

The aircraft shares its name with McCain's ever-present campaign bus, which has been a staple of the candidate's 2000 and 2008 campaigns.

The 95-seat plane — with seats for the candidate, his staffers and the press — has the "Straight Talk Express" logo emblazoned on its fuselage.

Dammit, we NEED McCain. The last Democratic President we had, all he brought was prosperity and peace. Who wants THAT??

Seriously. If you like Bush, you'll like McCain.

The Senator may now flip/flop at a considerable percentage of the speed of sound. Clearly, this plane wasn't for quicker travel on the stump but a measure to catch up with old flips as soon as a new flop comes to mind.

See McCain has an idea a minute!!!
It's too bad they usually fail to take things like logic, common knowledge, or physics into account.

If you think you're being clever and are making an argument by callling McCain McSame, McBush, McWar, Mc(insert insulting word here) how about you consider the following:
Obaflip-flop! Obalies! Obahate! Obasurrender! Obatax! Obaspend!

See? It's not an argument. Name-calling is just childish and disrespectful. You aren't helping your own candidate (Obama) gain more votes by your insert-Mc-in-front-of-words and your thinking that it makes any sense.

TJ Bear   June 29th, 2008 4:45 pm ET

Nader is not Presidential material. Real Republicans will vote BARR this November, not someone who thinks 100 years of war is great. If McCain wins, he will raise taxes on the poor, and lower taxes for the rich. McCain = Big Oil, Barr is for the people.

Walking the walk   June 29th, 2008 4:37 pm ET

Yes, Barack Obama would have proven himself to be an true reformer with principles to keep his word on public finance reform. I mean, who could expect him to display such courage? What do you want him to do – forego freedom from hellish imprisonment and torture out of regard for his fellow captives like John McCain did? That would not be very politically expedient, now would it?

I am a democrat and I see how CNN is always making comments against whoever Obama is running against. what is up with CNN commentaries. It makes me wonder now who is behind Obama's campaign? As a democrat I feel very uncomfortable not seeing any criticism of my own party's candidate in CNN and only seeing it against McCain. Also I don't see how naming his plane makes the news but not his messages. CNN please go back to the way you used to cover the news. Your news coverage is becoming irrelevant.

As an international observer I'm confused at the analysis of the media and some commenters. Obama said he would vigorously pursue public financing, then went back on his word. Isn't that worse that changing your views or beliefs on a particular policy or decision, i.e. breaking a public promise or pledge vs. changing a view or belief?

andrea, Illinois   June 29th, 2008 4:12 pm ET

One of the most ridiculous things ever….. Straight talk express, what a joke. McCain himself is becoming a more and more ridiculous figure! Just look at all the flip flopping and supposingly funny jokes…. I do not want to have my country represented by this man!!

patrick   June 29th, 2008 3:52 pm ET

To Dave,

You are very right about the so called flip flop that people say Obama took on the public financing. Yet even Republicans knew it was a trap that they thought they could catch Obama with. They knew Obama would be at a disadvantage with public finance. To me Obama would have been naive and a fool to go for public finance. Like you said, if people want to call it flip flopping , then more power to them. ; however like you said, if its a flop for the better, then everybody should understand that. The GOP has tons of money to reign down on Mccain, however the DNC is at a disadvantage.

Obama 2008

Dan   June 29th, 2008 3:49 pm ET

Obama must spend a lot of money paying ignorant people to spam every article that mentions the word McCain. I suppose they are all a bunch of hopelessly lazy individuals who expect Obama to make their lives better. They compain about wars and soldier dying, but they would never serve. They complain about high income tax- but they didn't even pay any this year. They complain about life, but are unwilling to do anything to make it better. When they get tired of complaining about their boring lives and get ready to look for answers, they will leave the Obama camp and join Mccain .

Well well, cant pay taxes on condo, but can buy a multi million dollar plane??..This is another reason why i wont trust Mccain with the econony which is my primary concern with the war a close 2nd. Mccain's stance on the war does not impress me either, being that he has a pro-war mentality. Who in hell wants to worry about bringing children into this world and worrying about Mccain taking them away, and then opposing a GI Bill that would take care of them ?

Thats a clear vote against Mccain….today, tomorrow and in NOvember!

jamie   June 29th, 2008 3:45 pm ET

You Obama idiots! That fool uses a plane too, infact every time the media interviews mister HUSSAIN its almost always on board his aircraft. So, please shut your mouths you dumb, young ,idiot, liberal, pot smoking, crack heads!! What will Barck Hussain Obama, do for this nation? You can see he is a loser like any other politican. Just look at how he attacked McCains plan to lift the ban on offshore oil drilling, Barack Hussian, said it would take years to see an effect! Well yea you retard! McCain is looking down the road 10-15 years from now when it would have a huge effect on gas prices. Its sad that people are so stupid. But what more could you expect from young hippie liberals??

Mart in PA   June 29th, 2008 3:43 pm ET

Why bother with going through the motions of Presidential election in November? King Barack Hussein Obama has already been selected a our next "President" by the rich and powerful element in this country. This election is a fraud. Goodbye democracy!

Sammy   June 29th, 2008 3:39 pm ET

My guess is that the plane is being leased but I am curious who actually owns it. I also expect all its costs are paid for entirely by the campaign. But all that information should also be disclosed.

Why McSame cannot be trusted ??? :

Jack McLamb served nine years in secret operations in Cambodia and other nations before going on to become one of the most highly decorated police officer's in Phoenix history, winning police officer of the year twice before taking a role as a hostage negotiator for the FBI.

"I know a lot of Vietnam veterans and a few POW's and all the POW's that I've talked to over the years say that John McCain is a lying skunk," McLamb told the Alex Jones Show.

The anger comment s for some of these Sen Mccain supports makes you wonder what's the real issue behind their hate for Sen Obama. I'm an Obama support, but I don't hate Mccain. Hate is a strong word. President Bush had no experience at all and you voted for him. I think this goes deeper than what they are saying, everybody has a right to choose, but lets be men and women enough to say why and stop using, "un-experience enough "as a scapegoat.

McCain should propose Prozac for all Obama supporters. What a rabid bunch of morons. Attacking another man's age with comments about diapers is shameful. Continuing to spew out boring puns such as McSame and McBush shows an utter lack of respect. The same misogynists who trashed Hillary for being a woman are circling once again for another political wilding. I hope Obama goes down miserably in a heap of shame and disgrace and the rest of you idiots who are making a mockery of our political process follow close behind.

You people truly disgust me. As in you commenters. First, you attempt to play the high and mighty card and voice your opinions for the change Sen. Obama wants to bring to D.C. Then you begin to leave derogatory comments about Sen. McCain, like the one left by Another Old White Woman for Obama "With any luck he will be piloting. We all know how good he is at that! hahaha." This is a man who spent 5 years of his life in the Hanoi Hilton being tortured after having to eject over hostile territory and you platantly use language like that in the hopes of what? That his campaign plane will crash? You sicken me. If this is the kind of change you want to bring to Washington count me out.

Texas Observer   June 29th, 2008 2:33 pm ET

To Stan above,
Lets play the blame game…
Clinton didnt originally get us into Afghanistan. As far as I can find, we supported the Mujahadeen (in opposition to the Soviets) since Carter's term, continuing through both of Reagan's ( who ramped up support to the tune of billions.) I agree that blame for Afghanistan cant be placed solely on GWB, but to lay it out solely as Clinton's doing is false as well. The same analysis could be applied to almost any conflict. This includes Vietnam. If Truman hadn't recognized the French colonial govt over the North Vietnamese Communists in 1950, then we may never have stepped in to back the colonials by 1954( we were already paying for the majority of operations by then), well before LBJ's Presidency. And you forgot to mention Nixon's ill advised policies regarding Vietnam ( which got men killed) as well. History is long and connected, placing blame is harder than you may think. You see how this game is played now?

Disgruntled Republican   June 29th, 2008 2:27 pm ET

Homo Sapien   June 29th, 2008 2:26 pm ET

Just for a general comment (should anyone read this), there are rules about civility that should be followed in any sort of discussion. A) Call people by their real names. We don't care if you think of John McCain as the same as Bush, which you're free to, but at least have the comon courtesy to call him by his real name. Name-calling gives the impression of an inability to understand real concepts due to lack of maturity. This applies to everyone: It's John McCain and Barack Obama, NOT McSame, McBush, or B. Hussein Obama. Regardless of where you stand. It's nice to know that there are some adults out there (and mind you, I'm a teenager). B) Use proper grammar and spelling. It's not tough, and it saves the rest of us a lot of trouble when reading your post. C) Spam posts do nothing but irritate us, and possibly turn us against your chosen candidate, which probably isn't what you had in mind. Example: "McSame will kep us in iraq for 100 more year! Barack Obama '08!" or "B. Hussein Obama is bad becaus he has no experince! McCain '08!"

Please, just be mature, perhaps for a change…

simple facts from recent BBC documentary on american money in Iraq:
28 billion USD , thats public money is unaccounted for till now
un qualified and single contracts given to favourites( dick cheney etc) who made billions on cost plus contracts
qualified and big compnaies ( bechtel, parsons, haliburtons, KBR) make a nonsense of their reputation in earning good bucks in Iraq and claiming billions of dollars by doublijng their expenses shown , expenses added by sham companies in panama, luxomberg etc

Without Iraq govt approval hunt oil gets billion dollor contract with Kurd state in Iraq, Mr hunt was put in by Bush as a memeber of advisory committee which had special access on insdie Iraq info.

And how should they get about te country–walk?

Texas for Obama   June 29th, 2008 1:49 pm ET

Vote for John McCain and see if he doesn't reinstate the draft in America. The reason why he will is because the war is going to last another 100 years and the soldiers are tired of doing 3 and 4 rotations over in Iraq and people are going to stop volunteering for the military.

Do you know if something happens right now in another part of the world or in America that we would not be able to do anything. The military is stretched to its limits. So, the next thing would be a draft if this war does not end soon!. I have many friends that lost their lives in the vietnam war. They were drafted straight out of high school.
War is ugly and it needs to end! Stop letting these young men and women lose their lives over a war that was based on on BIG FAT LIE!
Same on the Rebublican's and MCCain who is running for their 3rd term.

I'm so glad all these silly little Obamaites have a fun little playground to flop around on spewing their hate. For a candidate who's tried to promote a positive campaign hook, there sure is a lot of hate. You all are more disappointing than the last 7 years.
For all the "McFlipFlop" shouters out there, you have zero room to talk. Obama's gone from the absolute most liberal senator in session to changing his views depending on what crowd he's talking to. He can't even pretend he has integrity. The only thing he's kept his opinion on is the war, and that's only 1 of a multitude of problems we face.

I see some comments from McCain supporters here saying Obama "will raise your taxes".

We must have some VERY RICH people posting here…because unless you make over $160,000 a year, Obama's tax plan will SAVE you money…while McCain's will RAISE YOUR TAXES.

Do some research, people. Facts are not hard to find.

I personally am not that rich. I make well under $160,000 a year. I'd rather pay less taxes.

So I'll take Barack Obama.

rachel   June 29th, 2008 1:40 pm ET

This is funny… People always seem to think that by talking poorly about someone it makes their canidate seem so much better. I mean how about saying something positive about your canidate instead of saying yeah well the other canidate did it to so nananah boo boo. I am hillary person and I may end up voting for Obama because of his stand on abortion(its sad thats the only stance I know where he stands everything else he says is fluid and changes). I really feel that people are starting to think that Obama is afraid of competion. He got rid of his competiton in Chicago(alice palmer) so she couldnt even be on the ballet, he refused public financing because he knows McCain couldnt compete in raising money. He sicked the superdelegates and the DNC on Hillary trying to get her out of the primaries early because he didnt like the competiton. He now doesnt want to debate John Mccain cause he is scared of the competition. Hillary wouldnt be scared to debate and if Obama pickes her as his vp I fully expect to see a vp debate before obama and mccain debate. Come on Obama show us you arent afraid of competiton I am looking for more than one reason to vote for you.

Emma, San Jose, CA   June 29th, 2008 1:40 pm ET

The jet fits the grandiosity of John McCain. In 2000 he seemed like a gentleman and a good man; now he presents himself as stuck in old,
unsuccessful ways of trying to govern. Sadly, he has become more of
a symbol of old generation ideas that are not backed by a vision of the future.

Putting 'Mc' in front of insulting words does not make an argument, no metter how clever you think you are doing it. It just undermines your credibility by making you look disrespectful and childish. It also undermines Obama's campaign by showing the exact opposite of his positive message of hope and change.
Do you remember how offended Barack Hussein Obama's campaign was when some media pundits used his full name (his ACTUAL name) over and over? Now imagine if somebody twisted Obama's name too, say: Obalies, Obahype, Obahate, Obaflop.
See? It' childish, and it doesn't make an argument.

Dixon, Des Moines Iowa   June 29th, 2008 1:38 pm ET

Straight Talk, what a joke. McCain's straight talk depends on who is financing his campain, just like Bush. Bush would run the White House from Crawford If we were to elect McCain. Not that he would need to since McCain is just a much older version of Bush.

To all the hypocritical Obama supporters who are blasting McCain for getting a campaign jet, I would like you to stop and do a bit of research.

Obama flies around on his own personal campaign gulfstream jet. Why is it bad for McCain to get a jet but ok for Obama to fly around in one? Does this mean Obama doesn't care as much for the enviroment as he says? Stop and think before you comment on something, you seem like ill educated fanatics who act agressively without any real coercion.

Let us all just wait till Obama gets elected and his Capital Gains tax raise helps torpedo our economy.

P.S. Obama has done his fair share of "flip-flopping" as well

You are so fired up about a logo on a plane you make it seem as if it were actually a novel idea. Do you chase blimps in your spare time? Instead of clapping at signs, why don't you bother to read up on Mc Cain's policy. You are not buying Mc Cain in a grocery store, nor is he playing in a football game. Dave in IL, great point there.

Michelle in Palm Beach   June 29th, 2008 1:18 pm ET

I don't like Obama. I do not support any of his policies. He is naive, ignorant and very irresponsible.

He will raise my taxes, raise the cost of gas bay taxing windfall profits which will result in more inflation. Research what this brain child idea did to us during the Carter Admin. Obama's policies are the failed policies of the Carter Admin.

Obama will make us less secure and will grow the govt and continue to tax and spend.

His tax plan will most result in my job going overseas. Obama does not understand the concept of globalization. Business will leave US if they are being taxed to death. Growing economies, like Brazil, India, Russia, China will become more attractive.

Obama has no judgement whatsoever and is arrogant and upset if u dare to question him. He will do nothing to get us off of foreign oil.

Obamabot are either to stupid, lazy, ignorant or all of the above, to see this.

Come on people. Regardless of your political affiliation you must realize that all representatives in Washington (house, senate, white house) are rich beyond their wildest dreams. Throwing stones saying one is more elitest than others is to put blinders on to the reality of DC. We all need to wake up and elect someone that will actually do something.

How long have we known about a problem with Oil? Years. What has been done to truly solve the problem. Nothing tangible. Who is paying for it. All of us.

I do hope change comes about so all of us can realize how good we had it in the past. It seems to only get worse with time and until we have a leader that can actually lead instead of spout off at the mouth (like 99% do these days – including Obama) we only have ourselves to blame. I'd take Hillary over Obama any day because at least I know something about where she stands on issues (I may not agree, but I prefer the devil I know vs the one I don't any day!).

I think he should apologize to us!

Steve, the last sane person in California   June 29th, 2008 1:08 pm ET

I had to laugh out loud at the pure venom spewed by the Obama supporters about this story. I mean, really laugh! First, the deride McCain (who I don't really care for) for flip-flopping, completely ignoring Obama's litany of slip-flops (the D.C. Ban is "unconstitutional" but the Supreme Court's opposite finding "matches my position.") What a liar!

Second, Obama flies like McCain, and the cost isn't coming out of Obama's pocket.

The person said it best, when he noted that Obama has no record and no qualifications to lead this country. You people who "hope" for "change" are going to get a rude, rude awakening if Obama wins. This country will head right down the toilet.

If McCain wins? Possibly the same path, though his economic advisers are better than McCains, for the simple reason they denounce the brand of socialism/wealth-redistribution policy Obama and the left-controlled Demos believe in.

Good luck America.

I remember in the Bible were the Hebrews owed almost all of the land in Egypt and the animals, but when famine came they gave themselves over to slavery to the Egyptians who had grain. I see this same thing happening to the American people you have freedom also called liberty but because of the crazy people that want to control everyone in the world, and their agents in our government that have attack the American people to gain that control since before War World I, which has allowed them to gradually strip away our rights.

Soon if McCain becomes the President of the United Sates of America, Within 6 months John McCain would attack Iran and institute the new draft for the 100 years of war that he wants. Soon after this the U.S., Canada and Mexico would become the North American Union similar to the E.U… All the laws and rights that had been the saving grace of the American people would be completely gone with in 1 year, as the North American Union bows to its new masters in the United Nations and acts as its Military arms by attacking any and every nation that has not come into the fold, and that not bow to the United Nations Rule, A.K.A. The New World Order!

This is the purpose of the New World Orders leaders to fully control and kill anyone that does not follow their rule. For the women of the U.S. if will be a very difficult time due to the rights that women have fault for over the past few decades. Having to be fully subservient will completely break their will and end all the gains’ that have aided all mankind throughout the whole world! It’s sad that people wad in ignorance on purpose so that they do not have to be responsible for their own lives just the way GOD wanted them to do, as he said my people suffer for the lack of knowledge, and this is true they are suffering. If the people choose their gadgets, computers, televisions shows and fail get and stay informed, they will soon find themselves losing their freedom which is liberty and find themselves as slaves to the New World Order very easily!

Issues do not mater when you have people in our government like Bush and some democrats too who are in the process of taking away you rights, they use these issues to keep you distracted from what their right hand is doing to you! Remember if you get too involved in one thing you will not see the whole picture because you keep looking at one tree in the forest! Please look at the whole picture or lose everything that you value because of ignorance!

Ken   June 29th, 2008 12:58 pm ET

CNN is showing that they are nothing but syncophants. They won't do a hard hitting story on McCain. They won't tell you about the Keating 5, they won;t tell you about Cindy stealing drugs, they won't tell you about his flip-flops, they won't talk about how he left his first wife, they won't talk about his seven homes, they won't talk about his defaulting on property taxes, and his campaign run by lobbyist.

But they will talk about his neat-o new jet.

Great journalism there CNN. I suppose working on the junior high newspaper is all the qualifications one needs to be a journalist on CNN.

Jules   June 29th, 2008 12:58 pm ET

You people disgust me. I can't believe how incredibly partisan everyone has gotten, you'd think we were talking about the Shias fighting the Sunnis in Iraq, not petty squabbles between American political parties and their over zealous supporters. It seems as if every time McCain or Obama do anything (though particularly McCain it seems), everyone and their mother can't help themselves but to rant and rave about how horrible people they don't agree with are. What an incredibly pathetic level of debate going, this is exactly what democracy is NOT about.

How about next time, instead of chanting campaign slogans, you all read up about your candidate's positions and actually find out which you agree with most, not which one "seems" best. Then you can debate, instead of rant and rave like a pack of idiots.

My goodness the level of bias on this post is astounding. Seems like the Move-On.org crown are in full effect spouting the DNCs talking pts.

Calling McCain the flip-flopper when Obama has changed his positions of everything since the Primary is just proof that these Obama kool-aid drinkers are very narrow-minded, ignorant people.

Google "Obama flip-flopped". Nafta, Unions, Cuban embargo, immigration, taxes, terrorism, etc., Obama has "flipped" and "floppped" depending on the crowd. The list is growing too. With the recent ruling on 2nd Amend. this week, Obama once again changed his views on gun ownership and sided with the Supreme Ct. in a effort to pander to the supporters of the 2nd Amend.

John McCain has at least two sons in the military. One is on his third tour. Keep up the ignorance Obamabots! Sheeps for the Messiah – Obama!

Why such a huge plane? Talk about gas guzzler…..

Oh, and Obama has changed his mind for the better on some issues. People make blanket statements about flip flopping, but changing one's mind for the better is not flip-flopping. Now, McBush is a flip-flopper extraordinare while Obama has made good, informed decisions on his change. I mean, what is wrong with paying for one's campaign with donor money rather than tax payer money. I mean, great idea to me. Keeps the lobbyists even farther away from Obama. McCain, on the other hand, can't see a good idea if it hit him in the eyeball. His energy issues, etc are so all over the place and gimmicky that it's ridiculous.

Everyone talks as if our country is third world. I have been around the world many times and thank god every time I return. I have seen countries were the can barley feed their citizens. Or were in Germany you pay a 40% TAX. How about Universal Health Care sounds great but I have to wait 6-12 month to receive a hearing aid. Ummmm. The reason the world dislikes us is not because we’re are an awful place to live but we tend to sound like whinny brats. What is so wrong with our country? If you try to succeed in it you will.

I wonder how the people left in my old neighborhood are dealing with the price of gas right now? Or the fact that there are no jobs in the city?

I dont hear the GOP talking about any of that.

Lies? You would accuse a true Patriot, a war hero of lies? Yet you would believe anything anybody named "Clinton" would tell you when it is a matter of public record that both are liars? When they have both been caught in blatant lies and "Slick Willie" was even convicted of purgery?

Obama is cut from the same mold and John McCain is the only choice to keep this country safe and strong.

Doc Sinn   June 29th, 2008 12:22 pm ET

Notice how the GOP doesnt talk about the war. Notice how they never talk about Gas Prices. Or home foreclosures. Or what they are going to do about the economy.

All you hear is "Obama is inexperienced". "Obama is a Muslim". "Obama is a Black Racist". "Obama is a Rock Star".

Never do they talk about the ISSUES. Why? Because all those things happened under their policies. Gas Prices are nearing $5 a gallon and John McCain wants to talk about Jimmy Carter, a man who has been out of office for 3 decades…..

The GOP has nothing. The haev become a parody of themselves.

Senator McCain, I lost more than 7,000 dollars of my 401K this past week. This is not a flip flop but it is real.
My net worth has declined so much that I am afraid my daughter may not be able to go to college this year.

Instead of buying a plane, can you tell me EXACTLY what you will do for young people who worked hard in High School and hell bent in going to college?

I have not heard one peep from you on that subject and I not asking for anything for myself but for the next generation.

How can my daughter afford 100,000 college loan at 7% or more and if I may say so; loans from evil corporations who care less if a child succeed?

I like your straight talk express but it lost it's wheels and now you new plane will loose it's wings too. Until your positions are a complete reverse from those of the Chimp, you are just like him.

The essence of ignorance. To paraphrase:

You, like John McCain, do more to illustrate your ignorance, hate, and lack of education than anything Barack Obama and his supporters could ever do.

Thanks. We appreciate it.

Joe   June 29th, 2008 12:14 pm ET

That name was appropriate in his 2000 election bid, but not this year. John McCain's campaign has had little to do with straight talk. Unlike 2000, he changed positions to win the support of the conservative wing of the GOP just to get the nomination. He continues to repeat the Bush Administration's party line on taxes, the economy, and Iraq. Given that, the plane and bus should be called the "Bush III Express".

I think the problem with you is that you know that you and your GED having buddys are jealous that this black man is superior to you in every way. Here are policies I believe in: More drilling for short-term relief; Offering incentives for private enterprise to develope more efficient batteries for electric cars, nuclear and wind power for long-term relief; a parliamentary question and answer session like the Brits have for the Congress and President to face each other and work out differences; A free and strong Iraq with US presence like Germany and Japan; …..

It amazes me to see how all you Obama supporters can take a simple news clip and use it to continuously bash Senator McCain. I believe that it's because there is nothing good to be said of Obama. He is the real gimick in this election. He has no qualifications to be a presidential candidate, and if he were white, would not even have been considered as a potential candidate. He has done nothing in the state legislature, and absolutely nothing in the US senate except run for president. He spouts these empty promises about change (read from a teleprompter) without any clear idea about how to actually make them happen. All I've seen so far is a socialist candidate that thinks that wealth redistribution is the answer to fixing the problems in the black neighborhoods of this country. (it won't).
Obama is just another crooked Chicago politician who will do anything to get into office at any cost, and then use the position to better his own financial standing at the cost of the US taxpayer. He stands for NOTHING.

Yeah, McCain should walk everywhere just like poor black Obama. His campaign has no money and he has no book residuals. And the jet fuel! Out rageous! Doesn't he know Al Gore needs the extra engergy to light up his mansions in TN and fuel his SUVs. Oh yeah and the nerve of McCain's wife while poor Michelle can barely afford clothes because this Country has been so mean to her.
Liberals are sick morons just like their politicians.

Jason   June 29th, 2008 11:30 am ET

Gee I wonder if McCain's jet is as big and cumbersome and gas-guzzling as the one Al Gore flies around in to preach to the sheep about global warming? Or if McCain's house is as energy-sapping as Al Gore's big ol' house?

And as for Bam-Bam – he goes to a church for 20 years that calls America the "U.S.KKK.of A" and then tells us he loves his country. He takes his kids to listen to a race-baiting foam-at-the-mouth preacher screech that the U.S. Gov't invented HIV to kill off black people, and then says he wants to bring people of all races together. It was so amusing to me when his wife tried to back off her statement that when her husband got nominated, it was the first time she felt proud of her country. After listening to such racist bile for so long, how could she say anything else? How could anyone expect any better of her?

Obama is a liar, a poser and a shallow pretty boy. I'm voting for a MAN for President, a man who has truly served his country in every capacity, a man brave enough to risk his political career to take a stand, as he did when he supported the surge that is winning the war in Iraq. That MAN is John McCain. Now all you Obama fan girls go drool over his picture and screech "He's so pretty!" at each other LOLOLOL

What is abundantly clear to me is that no one is interested in a real discussion about the problems facing the United States. Obama supporters believe magically that their eloquent leader will be a savior of sorts. McCain supporters are split between neo-conservatives and traditional republican ideologues and care more about securing another election than the direction of the country. How is it that the greatest we have to offer is Obama or McCain as choices? What is wrong with the country is that we have languished behind the weak and self-serving leadership of Democrats and Republicans. Thanks CNN for promoting a dialogue about McCain's plane and yesterday Obama's gym problems.

It must be nice to have a wife that can purchase you a plane…I really want to know who paid for it!!! PLEASE DIG INTO THE ORIGINS OF THIS PLANE…I hope the taxpayers aren't footing his bill…

But did he use his AARP discount to purchase it?

I would suggest the "Straight talk buggy-whip". It'd be more appropriate.

woman for GOP VP   June 29th, 2008 11:03 am ET

Why do Obama supporters so closely resemble a pack of rabid dogs, frothing at the mouth, with no apparent control over their senses? Why do they continually resort to name calling and making idiotic puns of the opponent's name? This torrent of obnoxiousness will not elect your pathetic candidate. It did not elect Obama in the primaries and, since there are no superdelegates to hand the Novemeber election over, it will not work in the months to come. The collective arrogance of Barack Obama and his minions should condemn the entire group of blithering idiots to failure.

OBAMA MAMA   June 29th, 2008 11:03 am ET

More like my "attack Obama flight". I guess Cindy to paid for it.

Raymond Duke   June 29th, 2008 11:02 am ET

I think it is time for him to get a plane and that way he will be able to make all them town hall meetings that Obama refuses to do. Hmmmm, I wonder why the great orator ( the myth the press created) want debate in front of ordinary people. Reckon he might have to answer real questions and might not look as sharp as that old man without someone telling him what to say.

Nova   June 29th, 2008 11:00 am ET

For all those idiots who are spreading rumors: He is renting the plane. People should give McCain credit for fighting aginst Obama with little resources.

Which candidate do think of when you hear the word "survivor", "hero", "problem.- solver","bi-partisan","maverick"?

And which candidate comes to mind when you hear the words: "naive", "elitists","arrogant" ?

I agree with John. He can't be trusted. Remember the bomb, bomb, bomb, Iran remarks? He will get us into another war, but remember we don't have enough troops. So, what that means is….John McCain=Draft…

Steve   June 29th, 2008 10:56 am ET

I'm glad you clarified it wa a jet. I was trying to figure out how McCain was going to get everyone in a World War I biplane, like the one he's used to flying…

A jet will allow McCain to fly around the country quickly to talk to the 17 people who actually think it's a good idea for him to be president.

Still The Same McCain   June 29th, 2008 10:55 am ET

It doesn't matter is he rides in a bus or in a plane–it's the same tired message.

John McCain's message would have been perfect 10-15 years ago.

I repeat:

He can ride a bus or a train, but his message is still the same.

Chris   June 29th, 2008 10:55 am ET

Does it change directions as much as him, but keep the press so turned-around that they only worry about whether he likes them?

tigerakabj   June 29th, 2008 10:53 am ET

Mr. Flip-flop express is more like it. He has changed more positions on more issues than any other candidate for president. Please belive that Barack will call him out on every single one in those debates, even using his own quotes word for word.

It's time for change. America is not just for the rich, it's for everyone.

The republicans meant well, but unfortunately, Bush put dogma over common sense. McCain is clearly the same. McCain can't even conceive of a post 9/11 world. I do not believe McCain is the better candidate to protect and defend the Constitution or my life, liberty or pursuit of happiness. A McCain win is a loss for republicans and democrats alike.

A very not so subtle way of pointing out how the rigors of campaigning via bus is yet another weakness of McCain and brings to question whether he is physically able to perform this high-stress level job (on a daily basis) given all of his infirmities.

How do you rape a nation, kill over a100,000 of its'people, plus over 4000 of our finest young men, have their leader hanged, and do all this with the excuse of false and delibertly distorted information, and still have the temerity to say we will leave with honor? Even if we stay there 100 years, we will never leave with honor. We lost all honor all over the world when we attacked a nation that meant us no harm.

I am still confused about, other than being a prisoner of war (heroic I admit) and a mandarin in the Senate, about what actually McCain has accomplished internationally or nationally.

Ron posted:

"when will the obama supporters understand that the terrorist of this world are not influenced by words. the reason you can walk freely in this country is because you have the protection of the law enforcement. there are many area's in this country where street gangs rule, killing and terrorizing their neighbourhoods protected by bleeding heart laws that tie the laws hands and discourage people from coming forward to testify.it's easy to shoot your mouth off when your living in a upscale neighbourhood protected by the police try that in a slum area.how many terrorist attacks have there been since bush went after them.vote for who you want but don't ever think that diplomacy will prevent people that are willing to kill their own women and children as well as themselves will respond to anything but force. once they know the consequences then they'll want to negotiate. obama did not invent negotiations it's been around since the beginning of time. remember JF kennedy negotiated with kruschev but it was the threath of force that made him leave Cuba"

Ron you are using the Nazi talking points from the 30's and 40's. "We need to keep attacking and killing everyone who do not agree with us."

You need help, if you think you can make everyone in the world love America by pointing a gun at them. Your common sense is warped.

I can't believe the above comments. How ignorant. After years of Dems complaining about the Repubs, now that the Dems are controlling Congress I see "nothing' getting done-still. And, all the Dems are offering us is a Jr senator with no experience??? "Scrapping" Hillary altogether? Obama will "change" things alright. He'll "negotiate" us right back into a hostage crisis-OR WORSE. The terrorist organizations will walk all over him-period. And has everyone forgotten who got us into Afganistan in the first place? Tricky Bill-A DEMOCRAT. long before Bush Jr. Oh-and for those that want to blame the Repubs about the 4000+ soldier losses so far (which includes "Bill's" Afganistan)-remember the tens of thousands lost in Vietnam? Under LBJ? A DEMOCRAT….
I'm an independent voter-and for me it's a no brainer. It's McCain all the way….

Dem in PA   June 29th, 2008 10:35 am ET

It's amazing to see how much venom some people have towards a guy who served our country in the military and in public service. He has been bucking his party and the president for years, and he actually has a record of bipartisanship (Obama has none). Now suddenly he's this horrible person just because he's running against the Obamessiah. You people really need to stop worshiping him. You're acting like a bunch of lemmings. You'd walk off a cliff if he asked you to.

JD Not   June 29th, 2008 10:34 am ET

Nothing straight about McCain and his talks. How do you know you're talking straight when you can't remember what you said a minute ago? You have to know-if know, remember- the coordidate values of the preceeding point to reasonably connect the next point to declare your line or talk straight.

Patrick of Canton, Ohio   June 29th, 2008 10:34 am ET

I used to supprt Obama, but with him slowly flip-flopping all the issues that made me like him (such as NAFTA) now I'm not so sure.
He's now that media darling (him having 1853 stories about him on cnn, McCain with 996) so surely this comment will be edited out. I'm not for McCain though, just speculating about him. I do like McCain's idea about townhall debates this summer, and I feel a strong leader would agree to this. It seems to me most the people I know personally want Obama mostly based on the fact that he's half black (a sorry fact indeed, color should not determine a president be he black, white, or another color) or because they are enchanted by the media, few can actually defend their support of him. It seems to me most people like or hate McCain because he wants to stay in Iraq (which to me seems a sensible idea as Iraq is to be the last nation to peak in oil in the world.)

I'm still on the fence between the two. What will drive me away from the candidates is their VP picks. If Obama picks Clinton he loses my vote. If McCain picks Mitt Romney he's lost my vote. If both pick sensible VPs I'll stay on the fence. If both screw-up, which is most likely to happen, I'm writing in the only person with any common sense, the ever over-looked Ron Paul.

Let's stop this popularity contest and make it into an election CNN, show us some more John McCain so that we might better decide the lesser of these two evils. If you read this at all Sen. Obama, show your strength and accept these townhall debates. If you read this Sen. McCain, stick to your guns and don't go flip-flopping for Hillary's votes, it'll pay off.

he is an old man reliving his youth as a GI JOE and expects us all to think because he was a prisoner for 5 years that makes him qualified to be a leader in this world! what did he learn as he was behind prison walls that makes him so fit for this job?? why hasn't he done anything for our country in the last 25 years when he was young enough to make a differance?
thank god for barack obama for bringing in fresh young ideas to rebuild our crediablity and create a new government that can work for the people and not for the old cronies just like McBush and the other oil buddies that now run the whitehouse.

Robert   June 29th, 2008 10:24 am ET

Since the gas prices are high and McCain's holiday tax-free gas will not do any good after all, he resorted to an airplane with the hope that the campaign will be able to at least pay for the fuel since the plane is the bribe from Boeing.

What a lousy way to spend money on stupid and non-sense items.
Why not spend that money to buy food and medicine and take it yourself to a homeless shelter or to a poor country and distribute it among the needy.

Doug   June 29th, 2008 10:21 am ET

McCain cares so much about the environment and energy costs that he's willing to add more smog and pollution to the skies with his airplane that his big oil donors and other lobbyists paid for. Sounds like big change to me! When will Grandpa John Needs-a-cane just give it up?

karela   June 29th, 2008 10:21 am ET

I'll plant this little bomb for you Obamites who will soon fill this forum with your little tirades. I can't do this during the week because I worK:

Audacity of Hope = Mein Kampfh

Charasmatic leader in his 40's who could captivate a crowd and promised his people vague promises of "change". They chanted empty slogans not knowing what what their slogans really meant. The leader would target his enemies with code words meant to demean, but never directly insult. He left that to his henchmen. They would march in the streets and torment his political enemies. They would interrupt his opposition and would not let them speak. The media of the time loved this charismatic leader and dared not to give him any bad press.

Sound familiar, Obamites? Read your history books about what blind, adoring, servitude by the people got the Germans. Your dirty Chicago politician is playing you like a drum. Your idea of diversity is sick. Yeah, the Democratic party is truely diverse: You can be both a fascist and a socialist.

This battle has nothing to do with race – at least not from this opposition's perspective. Its about ideas. And Obama's ideas are simply about power. Where are his plans for energy, the war on terror, the economy? He only denounces McCain's ideas and spouts generalities for solutions. Wake up before its to late!!!!

saga for Obama   June 29th, 2008 9:55 am ET

When American Continental Corporation, the parent of Lincoln Savings, went bankrupt in 1989, more than 21,000 mostly elderly investors lost their life savings.
In early 1987, at the beginning of his first Senate term, McCain attended two meetings with federal banking regulators to discuss an investigation into Lincoln Savings and Loan, an Irvine, Calif., thrift owned by Arizona developer Charles Keating. Federal auditors were investigating Keating's banking practices, and Keating, fearful that the government would seize his S&L, sought intervention from a number of U.S. senators.
After McCain's election to the House in 1982, he and his family made at least nine trips at Keating's expense, three of which were to Keating's Bahamas retreat. McCain did not disclose the trips (as he was required to under House rules) until the scandal broke in 1989. At that point, he paid Keating $13,433 for the flights
And in April 1986, one year before the meeting with the regulators, McCain's wife, Cindy, and her father invested $359,100 in a Keating strip mall.
McCain was guilty of nothing more than "poor judgment," the committee said
"poor judgment" indeed. thats just what you have if you are contempling a vote for McCain….
