Yes, and I'm sure Bush and the Republicans are also responsible for high gas prices around the world. Should we now expect an actor to play Obama? Oh wait - we already have Will Smith.

These problems that we are facing are not only the cause of Bush's mistakes but all the past presidents...we were faced with the OPEC crisis in the seventies and we apparently learned nothing from that....

So stop putting all the blame on Bush...redirect it on all our past presidents who failed us...

Also Obama and McCain seem no different that all the other Dem/Rep politicians that we have been facing for decades...they are all full of themselves and lie to the public...

Its time for US citizens to take control of the government back...that is what a democracy is...GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE!!!

I just looked up the Energy Bill of 2005. Obama voted nay on the original republican bill and voted yea for all Democratic amendments that were submitted. Taxing windfall profits to be turned back into developing other energy sources sounds like the thing to do. Isn't that why the big Oil companies were given tax breaks? To reinvest in upgrading refineries, more exploration? To the sour grapes folks still harping on the primaries, get a life. You aren't going to find it sitting on this blog posting your hysteria.

If you want $10/gal gas vote OBama. THe high gas prices in Europe that easily exceed $10/gal are high because they include taxes that fund universla health care. The same health care that Obama and a disillusioned public wants so badly.
So in conclusion ,the next 4 years will bear double digit gas prices but in that you'll recieve less than average health care wooo!

FACT: When Bush first entered office (joining a Republican-controlled Congress), gasoline was $1.29 a gallon. That's about a 250% increase in a little over 7 years!

FACT: There is no shortage of oil drilling space in the US. There are dozens of coastline drilling permits ready to be purchased, but the oil companies haven't purchased them.

FACT: Even if the oil companies started drilling offshore today, it would sill take 10 years for the oil to enter the market, and the volume wouldn't be enough to impact prices, anyway.

FACT: Bush has steadfastly rebuffed Democratic efforts to invest in alternative energy.

Time to impeach!

Unfortunately, a certain segment of the Democrat base will not realize that the ad is a fictionalized script read by an impersonator, and will believe that Bush actually said those words. The DNC is counting on that (they don't respect their own people).

I can't believe it, but I am actually going to miss George W a bit when he leaves office. The laughs I have gained at his expense have been many. What is Jon Stewart going to use as his 'moment of zen' each night once we are free of George W? I am enjoying W's silly dance moves and Bushisms more and more each day as it gets closer to the time of his exit from the national stage. I'll be doing a Bush dance in January - no more crazy Republicans!

If you people want $10 plus gas prices vote Obama!
The prices you see in Europe that are over $10/gal are becuaase of the taxes which pay for the universal health care obama and the deragned public wants.
So in conclusion in 4 years you will pay more double digits for gas but you'll get less than average health care for that!

“I don’t think getting in a fighter plane and getting shot down is a qualification to become president.”

It's always more important to fix the blame than to fix the problem.

No surprise that the Republicans are outraged about any criticism. They have driven the country into the ditch and wish to blame somebody else.

I'm continually amazed at how ignorant and uninformed the majority of the voting public is, although I'm not sure I should be. It seems from the majority of bloggers on here that they get their political information and insights from little sound bites and snippets.
People, you need to delve into these situations in order to educate yourselves and make INFORMED choices.
McCain is offering real plans and real solutions for the energy crisis, Obama is offering "NO". McCain has and will offer comprehensive plans for immigration reform, Obama is offering "NO". McCain has served two decades on the Armed Services Committee, Obama has been running for President since he set foot in the Senate, other than that he has done "NO"thing.
So, continue to bash Bush if you want, talk about beating a dead horse, but at least try to inform yourselves so you can vote for the person who will best serve this country, a person with a record of service to this country that spans 40 years, not an empty suit who is lost without his teleprompter (which is why he is avoiding the town hall meetings with McCain). Don't vote for Flimflamma, if you do you will deserve what you get, it won't be pretty.

The last thing we need is a racist like Obama as our President. Everything that Jeremiah Wright has said Obama agreed with for 20 years. Yes Obama is every bit as big of a racist as Wright.

You want good ads, just wait for the Wright-Obama ads where Obama talks about how important Wright is to him and his family.

So, let me get this straight repubs...

When the republican attack machine releases ads of this type, you call it "laying out the facts."

When the dems do it, you call it "smear tactics" and childish.

Don't be a bunch of hypocrits. It's sad, but Americans respond to this type of advertisement. You're just mad that the dems finally figured it out. Enjoy some of your own medicine you babies!

Yes the Democrats have had a slim majority in the congress the last two years. Why haven't they done something about oil and the economy? Because the rebublicans attack every attempt and fillibuster good legislation and Bush vetoes anything that resembles good for the american people.

Anyone who believes either party will suddenly solve our problems is an IDIOT. We are screwed either way. We seem to get to choose the lesser of two evils, every election. Our current congress has done nothing to stop Bush/Cheney from their rape of this country. What happen to balance of power? Everyone promises change, no one ever changes it for the better. I don't trust our government to take care of the problems we are facing. Term limits only serve to get people who serve themselves because they don't have to worry about re-election. We the people, have the power to limit terms, in the voting booth.

McCain runs on his POW experience only. Most people 45 amd younger don't know zip about the Vietnam war and don't care to know and McCain doesn't get it. McCain's claim to be better on security issues doesn't make sense either because he was never a military commander. Young people care about the here and now which means getting our troops out of Iraq.

They should have used Frank Caliendo, that guy's impression is spot on :)

Anyway, this whole campaign to link McCain to Bush is not a 'new type of politics', it's old school politics. Why don't both parties have their candidates run on their merits or, if they REALLY need to go negative, at least point out the other candidate's ACTUAL flaws (and by that I mean flaws that matter, not how stupid someone looks in a helmet).

Nice to see that after two years of a Democrat controlled congress, where gas prices doubled, their solution to lowering gas prices is to hire a Bush impersonator.

Now that's real change.

"If your number 1 pick is an idiot, and you choose the number 2 to run the show after a big disaster caused by the previous, what does it says about republicans?.'

It shows that each time the Republican Candidates were slightly less of an idiot than what the Democrats could field to oppose them(Gore, Kerry). The same today when all the Democrats try to field a pure socialist rookie senator that's only grace is that he's articulate. My God, is Barack Husein Obama the best that the Democrats can field for President?

GA Republican June 29th, 2008 11:11 pm ET

The DNC gets the award for an all time low, stupid and BS lies

no i recall a little ditty about WMDs...but i guess you Repubs don't consider that a bold face LIE. may be you think that that was just away to send our troops to a tropical new location so they could work on their tans...idiots.

i dont agree with this tactic but Obama has nothing to do with this campaign.
truth be told, Bush screwed up our country so bad he's an easy target.

for all of you so called DEMS FOR MCCAIN...do you remember a little campaign waged by your Republican friends...TO IMPEACH BILL CLINTON?
why has no one returned the favor to W, GOD knows if any President should have been impeached it should be Bush/Chaney.

fools who voted for him in 04...GREAT JOB!
now you want McCain to finish Bushs war on Iran?
and yes Iraq does seem to be about OIL when these big oil companies now have no bid contracts in Iraq...

Dems do not stoop down to the level of the GOP.

no i recall a little ditty about WMDs...but i guess you Repubs don't consider that a bold face LIE. may be you think that that was just away to send our troops to a tropical new location so they could work on their tans...idiots.

i dont agree with this tactic but Obama has nothing to do with this campaign.
truth be told, Bush screwed up our country so bad he's an easy target.

for all of you so called DEMS FOR MCCAIN...do you remember a little campaign waged by your Republican friends...TO IMPEACH BILL CLINTON?
why has no one returned the favor to W, GOD knows if any President should have been impeached it should be Bush/Chaney.

fools who voted for him in 04...GREAT JOB!
now you want McCain to finish Bushs war on Iran?
and yes Iraq does seem to be about OIL when these big oil companies now have no bid contracts in Iraq...

Dems do not stoop down to the level of the GOP.

These forums are just ridiculous. CNN should remove them so I'm not distracted by everyone's ranting partisanship. If you think the Washington GOP is doing a good job, you are beyond saving at this point. If you don't already think politics in our country is a carnival, then you're also blind...

Wahhh Wahhhh Wahhhhh…. get over it Republicans!! You are a party tied to big oil interests, huge tax cuts and single issue politics that constantly divide this country. I think that just putting Bush on television or having John McCain bumbling in front of a green background is a reminder that we need people who don't have vacuous responses to serious problems.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Obama says “I do not take money from oil companies” but forgot to say that McCain does not either. Look up the Facts!!! Obama also forgot to say that 2 of his bundlers are top executives at oil companies that give $50,000 and $100,000 to him. That is a fact and you can even see that listed on his own website.
Two of Obama's fundraisers are Robert Cavnar, the chairman and chief executive of Houston-based Mission Resources Corp., and George Kaiser, the president and CEO of Tulsa-based Kaiser-Francis Oil Co.

Gas prices are up in every country in the world.

It's amazing what people will blame W. for… the same people that think he is stupid give him credit for causing every bad thing in the world just to make money for his friends.

I guess the strategy of the left is - if you just say it enough times, it appears true. And 70% of us are buying it.

If you want to pay less for gas, stop moving further into the suburbs and start taking public transportation.
-----------------

We can blame "W" because "W"'s failed economic policies, his spend and borrower budgets with record defecits, have all resulted in a complete devaluation of the dollar; oil is traded in dollars and the cost of oil rises with the devaluation of the dollar. Ergo, because the dollar fell because of W's policies, we can blame him for the rise in oil, even though it has risen around the world...because it rose around the world because of the devaulation of the dollar caused by W. See,...simple logic!

I don't know that these types of ads will help the Democratic cause. I find them a big turnoff. Hopefully they are at least humorous.

My bigger concern right now is reading that Bush and his cronies are ready for war in Iran.

One thing I don't understand is why, if Bush is so darn powerful, why are Democrats not more afraid of him?

I mean, you guys throw so much stuff at his feet, i.e. high gas prices, crappy economy, Hurricane Katrina, global warming...if he really has that much power, don't you think that perhaps you should be fearful of his supernatural powers??

Think about it. There are economic reasons for oil prices going up. We are not the only country suffering. Look to the oil cartel run by TERRORISTS in Middle Eastern countries. Running the oil prices way up and causing all the social unrest is a form of economic terrorism.

This ad is typical Democratic-smokescreen tactics. Divert attention from the facts to focus on a situation that doesn't matter at the present time. Where has the Congress (which is Democrat-controlled) been on the energy issue? The type of government we have doesn't allow any one branch to have absolute power, meaning that if Bush really was manipulating the oil prices the Legislative branch, which includes Congress, would have been able to stop it.

Open up your eyes and realize that Bush is not the enemy. Obama will be our next president and when the economy tanks, and it definitely will, all of you that voted for him will get exactly what you deserve.
