    You know it's election time when the FEAR MONGERING begins in earnest..it's bad enough that we had to deal with a horrible domestic economy, poor educational system, destroyed environment, etc..now we have to worry about COWBOYS in office declaring war on ANOTHER COUNTRY that hasn't directly attacked us...it's not Bush's job to say what Iran can and can't have..until they do something to us DIRECTLY, we should leave them alone...I guess one UNJUSTIFIED war isn't enough....

    Why has there been no discussion, during the debate concerning intercepts/telecom immunity and security , about the low number of translators competent in Farsi, Arabic, Urdu, etc. who would be able to provide meaningful, real time translations of the millions of intercepts.

    All the intercepts in the world will not provide security if:

    1. We are unable to translate them in real time;
    2. We cannot separate the meaningful/real information from the intentionally false disinformation;
    3. We cannot prepare intelligent strategies/effective responses to the real threats; and
    4. We cannot execute those strategies/responses.

    But, this Administration and its supporters ignore these issues and do not fund translators or "in field" interpreters, even 7 years after 9/11 and the Administration's commencement of an ill-defined, vague and poorly executed "War on Terror". It's simply "feel good" legislation giving a false sense of security, based on the belief that the "enemy" is stupid and will communicate its nefarious plans in English and without disinformation which an all to willing Administration will jump to in response, thereby wasting even more resources.

    McCain is winning on National Security and Foreign policy. Democrats have to come up with something and Sky Hersh himself is the answer to the question.

    It will be another in a series of blunders and miscalculations inflicted upon us by this President. If the Iranians say their nuclear ambitions are for peaceful purposes ,why in Gods name are we planning to engage them in an armed conflict.???..Is this the doomsday scenario that the Apocalypse predicted??..God help us

    I would like to point out that there still is no proof that the Republic of Iran has a nuclear weapons production program.

    Let our foreign policy be governed by facts not fears; evidence not emotions

    i just hope that he does this before the election.
    God forbid that Obama might win, he might sit down and talk
    with these vicious people.
    He won't be able to con this group of officials. They are more ruthless than he could imagine.
    He's not qualified to understand the repercussions of his ignorance.

    Should one American Soldier become wounded or killed as a result of duty performed in Iran, wouldn't Seymour Kersh become a traitor (if not already) and be tried as such? He, and the News Media (TV) that carry his story and tell it to the world all should be tried as traitors .

    At some time someone is going to become braver than those we now have in government and these pot shot reporters are going to pay the price, and well it should be.

    2 War Veteran disappointed in our media and government.

    These power hungry idiots are not going to be happy till we have a war on every piece of soil in the world and it would end winner take all if ant thing is left. I read a report today that Halliburton is already slipping around Iran and has been for a long time. If this is true our war monger leaders are going to get this planet blown out of existence.
    Been wondering for yrs is how Chaney got so much power and made Bush his puppet.

    Shock and Awe has become lie and decete. Liberman once a Dem V.P candidate is bucking for the same job on the other side of the isle. GW should have his 'declare a phony and tragic war card' taken away from him his last 7 months, 20 days, 23 hrs and 52 minutes (PDT) but who's counting, right.

    Isn't there anything, anyone can do, who cares in Washington D.C. to stop this madness before more sons, daughters, fathers and mothers are killed for no other reason than to try and force others to live how we live?

    Democracy is all about the freedoms granted under the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights.

    If we need to be covert about preventing attacks then so be it, but Mr. Liberman, please stop scaring this country...we're too beat up, losing our homes because of predatory lending from the Bear Sterns type invested in companies that the government rescues, can't afford a gallon of gas because of greed.

    At least before GW we only couldn't afford to educate our children but could afford to eat, keep our homes and didn't have to go thru the 'body count days' of Vietnam. Oh, how good we had it and how our morals have been reduced to SCARE and AWE

    Its always difficult to distinguish between facts and conclusions. His articles tend to mesh one with the other. Context is also another problem in reporting if none is available for the information gathered. So while his articles are very informative we must try to separate the two. It is also interesting that info is said to come from current and former officials in the sense that it insulates those currently on the job from whatever kind of penalty. Who knows from which a particular piece of information came from?

    Maybe Bush just needs to prove his manhood by going to war? He's clearly not really thinking of our country. He's a danger to himself and others, especially others. He needs to leave before he starts another world war.
