Michelle Obama: We aren't interesting

 Michelle Obama.

Michelle Obama.

(CNN) - Her husband may be running for the most powerful job in the world, but Michelle Obama says the couple’s lives are as boring as anyone else's.

"Barack and I don't have interesting lives, never did," the potential first lady told USA Today in comments published Monday. "We're basically family people. When we go on a date, it's either dinner or a movie because we can't stay awake for both."

The comments come as the Obama campaign has sought to soften Mrs. Obama's image among many voters who are less familiar with the Illinois senator’s outspoken wife. The campaign has retooled her stump speech to include more details about her family and humble upbringing on Chicago's South Side.

She also made a recent high-profile appearance on the daytime talk show "The View," and graced last week's cover of U.S. Weekly under the banner headline, "Why Barack loves her."

    Michelle is the gator-ade to Barack's kool-aid.

They'll both try to sell you anything about themselves. Like chameleons, they will change color as the need arises. They will be what they need to be, say and do what they have to, to get elected. There is no line they will not cross, lie they will not tell.

I will be anxious to have such a beautiful family in the White House, and Michelle will make a wonderful First Lady as much as Barack will made an excellent President. For the first time in years, I am looking forward to the election to get away from the old standards currently dirtying the White House.

Down to earth, articulate, intelligent and to me they are fascinating. Now jmccain and his stepford wife, does she ever say anything. Hey Independent Voter – your john mcstupid said he was never proud of his country until after he was a pow. What do you have to say to that??

I think you're interesting, Michelle. I think Barack is also.

Thanks for being real people, like the rest of us.

Sure beats Botox Barbie and her old snoozing husband (warmonger).

Thanks for being real people, like the rest of us.

McCain has a reputation as a womanizer, but the main stream media doesn't talk about it. McCain dumped his first wife because he was a POW for 5 years and unknown to him during those 5 years she suffered a terrible accident.

    Cindy McCain is okay, but her life was well written from day 1. She was born into wealth and stayed their comfortably during her life. She serves as an example for women all over the world, with her cosmetic surgeries and botox injections. {MAJOR SARCASM!}

Monies raised in the primaries by Sen Obama and Sen Clinton was in excess of $500 million, yet Sen Clinton ended up with over $20 million in debt and Sen Obama not further ahead about $30 million on hand; the DNC is short on funds and they redicule Sen McCain of not knowing how the economy works. Well, Sen McCain being of fine Scotish stock knows how to be frugal and is running a good campaign without over-spending, therefore will manage the Nations' money well. On the other hand the Democrats proved once more how to grab and sppend. Sooo the only way to vote in Novemer/08 is McFrugal.

I like it when you say "I could go on."

No you can't. Those 3 talking points are all you have and you really sound tired. Get some new accusations please.

Shawn get over yourself. I am sure after well over 8hr days 7 days a week you wouldn’t feel like both going out to dinner and a movie. McCain can’t work more than 5 days a week, what do you have to say about him answering that 3am call?

Are we setting women back in time enlikening Michelle to Jackie Kennedy? Sure we all admired Jackie, but women have come a longer way since then. It's a shame she can't be outspoken. Laura Bush had high approval ratings because she blended in and was not outspoken. But I guess Michelle has to do whatever it takes to help her husband win, right? The obamas are coming off rather fake these days.

Sorry, Michelle, but you are anything but the norm. Listening to a hate-spewing, anti-american preacher for 20 years is not normal.

I see the "We're just common folk" remake continues in a lame attempt to attract the blue collar voters that Obama didn't even see fit to go and visit during the primaries. Good luck with that – maybe you can fool a few of them but I wouldn't hold your breath – folks can smell a liar before they see him and though they didn't see Obama, they know all they need to.

On a seperate note, if they're too tired to make it through dinner and a movie, what's going to happen when that call comes in at 3 a.m.???

To Independent Voter–couldn't agree with you more.
To S. Boatman-Michelle will make a great First Lady.....finger down the throat; gag.
To Nola-If you're going to praise someone; spell their name correctly.

I pray people come to their senses before November. I would have voted for Senator Clinton and I would vote for Mr. Gore in a heartbeat.
Anyone but Obama. You go Senator McCain.

I am tired of these blogs inspiring the worst in America to come out and attack each others candidate on superficial elements. It is a sad day in American Politics that we can not have a conversation with more substance and based on real issues. The worst in people is exploited in these environments, racism harbored, and apathy inspired.
