Obama notes working class roots in new ad

Obama is out with a new ad Monday.

Obama is out with a new ad Monday.

(CNN) - Barack Obama’s campaign announced the release of its second general election television ad Monday, a 30-second spot designed to highlight his working-class roots and economic agenda as he ends his three-week economy tour but continues his efforts to woo that key Democratic constituency.

Watch: Obama courts working women

The campaign said ‘Dignity’ will air in 18 states, including perennial blue-collar battlegrounds like Michigan, Pennsylvania and Ohio, and some traditionally Republican areas where the presumptive Democratic nominee is hoping to compete in this fall, like Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia.

“He worked his way through college and Harvard Law,” says the announcer. “Turned down big money offers, and helped lift neighborhoods stung by job loss.”

The ad will begin airing Monday in Alaska, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Virginia.

Earlier this month, the Obama campaign’s first ad of the general election highlighted his patriotism and values.

SCRIPT – “Dignity”

OBAMA: I’m Barack Obama, and I approve this message.

Announcer: He worked his way through college and Harvard Law.

Turned down big money offers, and helped lift neighborhoods stung by job loss. Fought for workers’ rights.

He passed a law to move people from welfare to work, slashed the rolls by eighty percent. Passed tax cuts for workers; health care for kids.

As president, he’ll end tax breaks for companies that export jobs, reward those that create jobs in America.

And never forget the dignity that comes from work.

Republicans know what exactly what Michelle meant, but they want to twist it yet again and again because they have credible issues to discuss.

Negative doesn't work in the primary on both party and it will not work now Republican.

I am a Democrat first and for Obama second. I would have voted for either Hillary or Barack, but am pleased that Barack has the nomination. I am old enough to remember when African Americans had to ride in the back of the bus, couldn't go to schools, and couldn't sit with everyone else at lunch counters. My friends, that was only 50 years ago. It is absolutely amazing to see how far America has come. We just went through a nomination process between a woman and an African American. Absolutely amazing. I have been sad to be an American over the last 8 years. I am now, once again proud of what my country is becoming.

McCains have completely missed the point. He is a doddering old man who is being fed sound bites that are completely out of touch with the realities of our world. Add to that the weird, grandfatherly, almost whiney way he delivered his speech, and it is apparent that Obama is going to kick his butt. Once Obama wins, I sincerely hope he gives Hillary one of the key posts on his Cabinet. She should NOT take VP, and he should NOT offer it. VP is just arm candy for the president, and is mostly ceremonial. Give Hillary something she can sink her teeth into, to fix the damage the Repubs have done over the last 8 years!!!!

    Hey Ula Nejad- Sacramento Ca:

John McCain has been saying for years that he did not love this country until he was denied her company. What you should be demanding to know is how a military brat could grow up in this country and attend one of our finest military academies, take an oath to this country, and not love or fall in love with this country until he was shot down in vietnam, imprisoned and tortured.

I don't know what to say; I have always loved my country... but, I haven't always been proud of my country.

I'm a navy brat so... I question John McCain as to why he felt this way about my country.

Am still surprised that some republicans are still using Hillary Clinton name in a nagective manner. I don't know the reason behind this, but if it is to devide democrats? They should think again. Hillary is a srtong supporter of Obama presidency so do Bill and all the notable leaders that have initially supporter Hillary is nomination bid.

So, Republiacn do not use Hillary's name to stage your fight against Obama.
Democratic party is not dumb, we know those behind causing trouble by portraying that they Hillary's fans to instigate bitterness among democrats.

Please stop the devision, blog for republican if you are a republican and blog for democrats if you a democrats.

You know Maccain has no chance of winning the fall election, so they are trying to devide democrats against each other. I trust true democrats.
God Bless Americans and save Obama.

Why do we question Obama's patriotism? How many Presidential nominees have not paid honor and respect the American Flag and all that she represents!? How many political figures have stood on a platform and refused to place their hand over their heart (which signifies great respect for all military (past-to present?) What other nominees or political figure began their campaign by announcing I am not going to wear the flag pin on my lapel! This was Obama's choice. Obama says his friends have not influenced him and his values, but his friend William Ayers who lives in Obama's neighborhood has stomped onthe flag many times. So when Obama decided to make it a point "I won't wear the America Flag Pin," he himself showed his loyalty and proved his questionable friends have influenced. Yes, OBAMA STARTED THIS THING HIMSELF! Just as he said himself– at times as a result of my own carelessness. If Obama can say "he is displaying lack of carelessness on the issue of the American Flag, what else will he be careless about? Obama proved in the early stages of his campaign his thoughts, his feelings, and lack of respec for the American Flagt! So WHAT MAKES HIM THINK AMERICANS shouldn't question his patriotism? SURE OBAMA WOULD LIKE FOR US TO FORGET HIS ACTIONS AT THE BEGINNING OF HIS CAMPAIGN. Now as his former Pastor Rev. Wright said at the press luncheon–OBAMA HAS TO SAY AND DO WHATEVER TO GET THE PRESIDENCY! Words from a former mentor of Obama.

John McCain is a hero for enduring/surviving years of captivity – granted. BUT, absolutely nothing he learned in the prison camps prepared him to become the president of the United States. That's just a simple fact. If you're voting for him because of his Vietnam experience, then you should readily vote for ANY former military "grunt" who served on the ground and engaged the enemy in hand-to-hand combat. That would be the highest level of "experience", wouldn't it??

  9. Barack Obama is Our 44th president! YES WE CAN !

Sen. Obama definitely should have stood by Gen. Clark becasue he spoke the truth, nevertheless; the truth will prevail. And I will say, I understand why Obama choose to do what he did. He is a defuser and I respect him for that.

What a great TV AD. Sen. Obama has a lifetime of experience in service to this country – as a Community Organizer helping working families who were hit hard by the loss of their jobs, as a teacher of constitutional law, as a civil rights lawyer, and he has a very strong record of accomplishments in the U.S. and Illinois Senate in Ethics/Transparency, Foreign policy, Health care, Energy, Education, Military Issues/Veterans, Justice, Women issues, Homeland security/Disaster response, Working families, Workplace protection, and the Economy.

These are the issues the American people care about. Certainly he is the most qualified and ready on day one to lead this country in a new and better direction. Certainly he is the strongest to inspire the American people to unite together and work together for a safe and better future for all of us.

It's time for REAL change in Washington, it's time to elect Barack Obama for president !

I think it is funny that there are people who still doubt Obama's views on America. But here is a little reality check, He came from nothing and today He can afford to live anywhere in the world and actually do nothing.
He is giving all that up to run as our president and put himself in harms way(not just from racists) but from everyone who doesn't like the USA. (Race card played: I know, McCain is always on guard for those Jesse Jackson supporters)
If I were him I would take his and his wife's salaries and retire to a sun soaked island in Europe. And forget those constant doubters in the USA.
But please don't do this Obama because we need you. My country has been run into the ground and we can't take another four or imagine eight more years of this.
Thank you Obama and his supporters for restoring my faith in Washington. Eventually they do call on the smart guy!
    Obama in 08!

    To all the OBAMA Haters:

If you want to try and persuade us that you have some new credible information that would lead us not to vote for OBAMA, please post it here and let us do some research on the matter.

Your lame comments, for which you offer not factual substantiation, lets us know the real reason you post your message.

As it has been stated before, but I'll state it once again......................

WE WON'T FALL FOR THAT TRICK AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Put up or shut up! The fact that your post has nothing whatsoever to do with the responding to the post speaks of itself.

Even if the caption read: "OBAMA saves cat from tree", you would complain about him taking away jobs from the local animal care office.
