Obama notes working class roots in new ad

Obama is out with a new ad Monday.

Obama is out with a new ad Monday.

(CNN) - Barack Obama’s campaign announced the release of its second general election television ad Monday, a 30-second spot designed to highlight his working-class roots and economic agenda as he ends his three-week economy tour but continues his efforts to woo that key Democratic constituency.

Watch: Obama courts working women

The campaign said ‘Dignity’ will air in 18 states, including perennial blue-collar battlegrounds like Michigan, Pennsylvania and Ohio, and some traditionally Republican areas where the presumptive Democratic nominee is hoping to compete in this fall, like Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia.

“He worked his way through college and Harvard Law,” says the announcer. “Turned down big money offers, and helped lift neighborhoods stung by job loss.”

The ad will begin airing Monday in Alaska, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Virginia.

Earlier this month, the Obama campaign’s first ad of the general election highlighted his patriotism and values.

SCRIPT – “Dignity”

OBAMA: I’m Barack Obama, and I approve this message.

Announcer: He worked his way through college and Harvard Law.

Turned down big money offers, and helped lift neighborhoods stung by job loss. Fought for workers’ rights.

He passed a law to move people from welfare to work, slashed the rolls by eighty percent. Passed tax cuts for workers; health care for kids.

As president, he’ll end tax breaks for companies that export jobs, reward those that create jobs in America.

And never forget the dignity that comes from work.

  10. Judgement over experience anyday

Thank you Obama for caring about the economy and other important issues effecting Americans and not ramming foreign policy down our throats and the possibility of another war and lying to us like your counterpart. BTW your sound judgment is far more welcoming than john mcwar's so called 'experience'. Look where that so called 'experience' got us today.

I think it is a good idea. Rove and the GOP are trying to paint Obama, who was raised in a single parent household and received food stamps as elitist! Every person raised in single parent homes should rise and smile! The welfare moms can rise and smile! They are elite!! Thanks GOP!! You made the poor kids raised in single parent homes proud to called elitist!!! You Republicans always make me laugh!

Obama attended Punahou Academy in Honolulu, which today cost $15,000 a year in tuition. While he attended an exclusive private school, his mother attended an unspecified graduate school. Despite having all the money to pay for all this, Obama claims that his mother collected food stamps during this time. He also claims that his mother receiving food stamps qualifies him as having a “poor” upbringing.

Obama is either lying about the food stamps, or his mother was abusing the system by collecting food stamps when she had lots of money.

Hasn't Obama been a politician most of his grown life? Hell, he's never had to risk anything like putting on the uniform of his country and he's just lived off the largess of the American taxpayer. That's executive experience?

It's good to know that in America a person still has the right to be an idiot. Surely you jest with some of the comments that you made. It's people like you that are ruining this country. Intolerant of others, delusional and down right thoughtless and apparently uneducated.

You say as for you and your community........ where is that village? You know the one that elected you its idiot.

If you are serious I would suggest you go to his campaign website. It is extremely detalied. I would also suggest you look at the wealth of Economic advisors he has and the fact that he actually listens learns from his state's mistakes is something you should take into consideration, He has good advisors on everthing and he is trying to involve mayors and governors which really helps because then it is not too brad based but down to city and State level . I feel that economically we will do so much better under an Obama Presidency.

As for the town Halls why should he have town halls set up by the McCain people? Why should they set up for him? If you have been following his campaign you'd know that he has been having smaller more intimate settings where he talks to regular people and deals with regular day to day issues. Keep abreast with his website and you will know where he has been who he visited with and what is going on. What do you consider a town hall style meeting?
