Crime on McCain agenda, while Obama focuses on religion

Sen. John McCain will be the keynote speaker at the National Sheriffs' Association's conference in Indiana.
Sen. John McCain will be the keynote speaker at the National Sheriffs' Association's conference in Indiana.

(CNN) - Sen. John McCain on Tuesday is expected to tell law enforcement officials that he'll make sure they have what they need to fight crime before he flies to Latin American for stops in Colombia and Mexico.

McCain is the keynote speaker at the National Sheriffs' Association's 68th annual conference in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The senator from Arizona is expected to praise those involved with law enforcement and describe action the government has taken to make cities safer. McCain will tell the officers that, as president, he would make sure they are equipped with the resources they need to fight crime, according to his campaign.

Following his address, the presumptive Republican nominee will fly to Cartagena, Colombia, for talks with President Alvaro Uribe and other top officials. After visiting Colombia, McCain on Thursday will head to Mexico, where the focus will be on free trade.

After Bush thanked McCain for being a great supporter of the GI Bill I knew officially that the Republican's were done! Both of them vehemently opposed this bill tooth and nail, even the bills author Sen. Webb said they had nothing to do with the bill but came out claiming they did. How bout this McCain how bout supporting the troops and officers of the law, all the time not just when the polls show you should! I think its appauling that military service men/women and officers make type of money they do when they put their lives on the line everyday for OUR country. It's sad when a gas station manager (no offense)can make more money then a soilders/officers are having rockets and shots fired at him daily. Everything about his campaign is turning into a big joke. Where does he stand on issues...couldn't tell you they read a 3 page list of things he as switched on since starting his run for the presidency. When he changes position his campaign calls it "evolving" but then counters that Obama is "flip flopping".

Why is this filed under Obama and McCain? It's all about McCain apart from the misleading title.

Give the police officers all they need so they can brutilize all people that are not white. I have lost my trust in police officers many years ago.

Obama complains about going off topic but he's been spending more time on religion than I've seen any candidate do for a long time... "People cling to guns and religion" because they're bitter... he sure seems to cling to that topic.

Why don't you democrat blogers say something nice about Obama instead of hatefull remarks about McCain?
Why don't you republicans say something nice about McCain instead of hateful remarks about Obama?
If CNN would not print hateful and deceptive remarks in the blog section, there would only be about 6 of us left. We do not hate anybody.Especialy two fine candidates.

    John –

You are a conservative, aren't you?

Why then would you be implementing policy at the state and local level even if it were related to police & fire? This doesn't square with your Republican mantra and I don't understand the logic.

    Straight talk please!

J, you're either a high school sophomore (who compusively use intemperate language) or you're being intentionally obtuse. Every study ever conducted (and proved when Kennedy was in office) is that when you reduce marginal rates of taxation and capital gains taxes, more money inures to the federal government. The Democratic Party's unfathomable position is that it doesn't care about the effects of tax policy. All it cares about is vilifying the successful and mollifying the less successful. Incidentally, the most amusing part of Obama's campaign was during one debate when he made this very argument and clearly did not know the meaning of capital gains taxes.

Crime and religion are interesting issues...

I put the Constitution, civil liberties, and the economy (inflation, the deficit aka grandchild tax) as a little more important.
If you are concerned about these issues, the two major parties can't help.
If you want us not only out of Iraq, but to avoid more useless wars and foreign entanglements, BO and McSame cant help.

Bob Barr, the Libertarian candidate, will deliver on these issues.
Send a message. Make your vote truly count. Bob Barr 08.

Release all 600 pages of your military record – we have a right to know.

You demanded it of Kerry, now it's demanded of you.

Hey, CNN. His records would keep you all in headlines for weeks. Why can't you go after it?

    Bye bye, McCain

Yeah, release them. America has a right to know what's going on inside of that brain of yours.

Which politician will be the 1st to endorse the new square milk carton?

It has the ability to make a near immediate contribution to reduce the amount of fuel used to transport milk and the amount of water used to process milk.

Unlike the gas tax holiday, an analsysis of the economic chain shows that the consumers would keep this reduction. This translates directly into a price reduction that real families can feel and is good for the environment.

If either were a better leader than I, they'd have brought this forth BEFORE ME. Maybe I should be President.

I think it's a crime what he and his buddies (Black, Lieberman, etc.) are doing to the citizens of this country by constantly referring to the fear-mongering tactics that republicans have used for a decade.

We need hope and intellect, not fear and war.

It is Supreme Court decisions that *help* law enforcement keep criminals behind bars...that is the tools they need to fight crime.. not just guns and cars.. McCain's choices for Supreme Court justices will stop America from keeping criminals behind bars...

My husband is law enforcement.. he knows what it takes to give the justice system the tools they need to fight crime.. Stronger laws..!!!

warrantless wire-tap is illegal..... McBush supports this illegal law.

In the first place, McCain is not too old! He is not senile. What his wife does or says has absolutely nothing to do with his ability to govern. Will I vote for him?NO.
I will vote for Obama, because I think it important both for our nation and the world to know we are not a terrible racist bully people who want to dominate the entire world.
McCain does not deserve the mantle of being a war monger, however that is the impression the world has of him.It is not his fault he and his party are trying to follow the footsteps of a president who has thrown the entire world into chaos. He will bear the brunt of that incompetent president's unfavorable actions.

At least McCain gets into specifics and offers plans and tells you
what and HOW he plans to do things.

Contrast to Obama, who gives you fairyland promises of change and unity–these are the same promises that BUSH gave–change and unity!

If anyone is like Bush, it is OBAMA.

Obama has done nothing in the Senate. Nada, zilch, big goose egg, zero.
