Crime on McCain agenda, while Obama focuses on religion

Sen. John McCain will be the keynote speaker at the National Sheriffs' Association's conference in Indiana.
Sen. John McCain will be the keynote speaker at the National Sheriffs' Association's conference in Indiana.

(CNN) - Sen. John McCain on Tuesday is expected to tell law enforcement officials that he'll make sure they have what they need to fight crime before he flies to Latin American for stops in Colombia and Mexico.

McCain is the keynote speaker at the National Sheriffs' Association's 68th annual conference in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The senator from Arizona is expected to praise those involved with law enforcement and describe action the government has taken to make cities safer. McCain will tell the officers that, as president, he would make sure they are equipped with the resources they need to fight crime, according to his campaign.

Following his address, the presumptive Republican nominee will fly to Cartagena, Colombia, for talks with President Alvaro Uribe and other top officials. After visiting Colombia, McCain on Thursday will head to Mexico, where the focus will be on free trade.

@Greg Pottstown, Pa....Ayers wasn't convicted of murdering anybody. So based on your argument he is just as innocent as McCain...right?

I do think I could muster a lot more anger next time. Actually, this time I thought it was kind of funny. But I will try to be angrier in the future.

    Thanks for the tip!"

... ... uh huh. No problem. The fact that you want to laugh, scorn, and hate is just weak. You think it's making a point and making you look tough or mature, but frankly, it makes you either look like a disgruntled adolescent or a terr'rist.

You're only making yourself look bad, you know. So you actually think there is common sense to what you're saying right now? Typical hate-baiting with no grounding in rationality. C'mon, hit me with another one! I can't wait to read it. I yearn for your words.

That gives me a piece of mind, especially, when you see county sheriffs running on tickets and slogans like "Crime is terrorism". I think this government was born after it's time, say Berlin 1934.

"I can believe in what John McCain says because it comes from his heart. Barak, on the other hand, comes off as being too fake and preacherish. Why must he lecture and preach to us! He should be lecturing and preaching to the wayward Democrats."

First of all McCain and Obama read from a prepared speeches at times. Actors can make you believe anything to, so you haven't said anything...
I feel the same way about McCain and his speeches...but NEITHER of us have to listen. They invented something called a remote control. Read up on it and stop crying....

    McCain fighting crime?

Yeah, like he's going to do anything about it. Or about anything else for that matter. All talk. Same with Obamaboy's mumblings about religion. All talk and nonsense. No wonder people are apathetic to the bone.

Not impressed, as is un-original. Does this guy every have his own unique thought in his head? Moderators, please....when it is time for presidential debates between McCain and Obama....please MAKE Obama go first. As a registered Democrat, my heart is absolutely not in it for voting for him. Sorry, fellow Dems, but I just can't.

The Republican so-called "war on drugs" incites far more violence than it prevents. Statistics back this claim up, yet it is one of our federal governments biggest money dumps year in and year out into another unwinnable war. It was Abe Lincoln that said, "Let the people know the truth and the country is safe." He also said in 1840, "Prohibition will work great injury to the cause of temperance. It is a species of intemperance within itself, for it goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation, and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A Prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded."

Take a lesson from the history books Johnny. It's obvious that W missed the part of Vietnam, don't tell me you forgot your reading homework as well?

What's the purpose of visiting these "third world" countries; Colombia, Mexico, and the like..........about, free trade? Their biggest exports to America are people and drugs. Are you going; to talk about "stopping" both? I don't think so, so stay home!

There's something ironic about promoting free trade with central America, especially Columbia (where our illegal drugs come from) and Mexico (the road by which said drugs arrive) while touting the need to get tougher law enforcement.

Is McCain meeting with central American leaders to discuss innovative ways to curb the drug trade while visiting these countries?

Or is it just a no-substance photo op for his campaign?

All law enforcement areas have done a fantastic job post 9/11 to keep us safe. I have a freind who works for MI5 in London and the work they do together to tackle all sorts of crime worldwide (drugs, human trafficking, terrorism) is just huge. they swap intel all the time.

I laugh when the DNC criticize the bush admin for doing nothing for 7 years, but he has certainly put all his focus on safety at home and abroad and there have been no more terrorist attacks.

You cant blame gun crime on the fact that guns are legal. if you want a gun for gang related purposes you will get one without too many problems. this is how it is all over Europe and Australia etc.

Has anyone seen where the millions of federal tax dollars used to subsidize local law enforcement is going?

No more partners–every officer has their own vehicle (and many drive them home and to the grocer when they're off duty).

Every vehicle has a lap top so they can surf the warrants while they fish for serious crimes not re-instating your auto insurance or delayed driver license renewal.

Pay raises. Most cops make more than 75% of the people who pay the taxes for their salaries. Plus–they earn a flat salary–but are able to double their salaries every year in overtime.

The war on crime–is more of a war on the taxpayer. And crime doesn't seem to be decreasing as a result. Just the costs.

    Literacy is for Loosers:

Now I've gone and offended your delicate sensibilities. Who knew? I confess I did think it was funny that you got so bent out of shape. I'm just not angry enough for you, I guess. But you Obama types are so unthinking and demand so much blind adherence, I just don't know what to make of it other than the cult mentality. I am not a young person, and I've seen a lot of elections, but I've never seen anything like this herd mentality that Obama supporters demonstrate.

Thinking is not just a good idea, it's a GREAT idea! These CNN blogs have been laced with hate and mysogyny (another big word) against Hillary Clinton that it's rather scary. Even Obama is paying lip service now, but you guys are being eaten alive by your own words.

My advice? Lighten up. You'll live longer.

How is McCain going to fight internet crime when he doesn't even know HOW to use a computer? Anyone that out of touch has no business running for president. Too old, too out of touch, too hawkish. No way. I'm nearly as old as McCain and my friends and I know when to let the younger generation take over. Move over John, find a nice easy chair and learn to surf the web.

@Texas Trail Dog...are you really that stupid or do u jus play dumb on the internet? Why would somebody with 2 little girls want to let all the rapist and murders out of jail?! On the other hand you should look into the truth project which has found a number of innocent AAs on death row, and who have been there for 15 years or more. Secondly, he's half white so doesn't that mean according to you that he would let all the white rapist and murders out. Why would he care about offending people who commit crimes...they couldn't vote for him anyway as they don't have the right to once you are convicted. ...ugg but on the other hand people like you have the right to vote...isn't that a same.

P.S. TYPING IN ALL CAPS DOESN'T GET YOUR POINT ACROSS....LMAO

SENDING OUR YOUNG PEOPLE TO JAIL FOR MINER

OFFENSES, IS THE HUMAN ECONOMICS OF IMMORAL MORONS.

WE SHOULD AT LEAST PRETEND WE CARE ABOUT

OUR YOUNG PEOPLE. WE KEEP OUR JAILS FULL

BECAUSE THERE IS MONEY IN THAT. THERE IS NO MONEY

FOR MCINSANE'S LOBBYISTS IN SENDING OUR VETS

OR OUR YOUNG CHILDREN TO COLLEGE. THIS MAN

LEFT THE WOMAN THAT WAITED FOR HIM FOR ALL THOSE

YEARS FOR MONEY & HE WILL SEND YOUR CHILDREN &

GRAND CHILDREN TO JAIL & WAR FOR THE MONEY.

Some of you on this blog need to do your homework and educate yourselves on the issues before starting to spew hate. Think please!

Bush DID promise that our law enforcement officers would have all they needed.

    Bush SAID NO NATION BUILDING!

What drives me crazy on these blogs is how "McCain supporters" DO NOT ANSWER HOW MCCAIN WILL FIX THE MESS BUSH IS LEAVING!

HOW WILL MCCAIN PAY OFF THE $10 TRILLION IN NATIONAL DEBT OWED TO.......... DUBAI, SAUDI ARABIA AND CHINA...... WHEN HE WANTS TO GIVE US (WEALTHY PEOPLE) A TAX BREAK????

HOW WILL MCCAIN CONTINUE TO PAY FOR A WAR WITH IRAQ THAT IS COSTING US, TAXPAYERS, $1.38 BILLION A DAY??????

HOW WILL MCCAIN LOWER OIL PRICES & DRILL WHEN THE PRESIDENT IS NOT THE ONE WHO SETS WORLD OIL PRICES?!!!

HOW CAN "HILLARY SUPPORTERS" VOTE FOR MCCAIN???? OH YEAH........ YOU ARE REALLY RUSH-THE-VOTE-REPUBLICANS!
