Obama is true to his words in that he wants to be president of ALL Americans.. not just blacks, or the left, or any particular group of people. A true leader doesn't run w/ the pack; he's able to constructively criticize what he feels is not good or beneficial to the WHOLE. This country has such a diverse group of people each w/ their respective strong feelings and beliefs.. he can't please every single one.. the best he can do is look at what is fair and good for the entire country in the bigger picture.. and not just for today or tommorow but in the long run.

Hey Delta 9-

Are you such a simpleton that this is how you would explain a liberal?

Clearly you are a right wing nut. Obama is going to increase taxes for those making over $250,000. The truth is that the majority of people making that much are just fine. They have little to no debt, they are making ends meet. They are driving heir suv's whereever they want, with no concern of making mortgage payments.

And for the average American (those maing less than $250,000 (family) or $200,000 (single)) A TAX REDUCTION!!!

Those are the facts. The wealthy should be paying more in taxes. The elite are the ones who make policy and spend our tax money (and vote for wars).

Your simplistic views are inaccurate at best!

All it takes it few minutes to do some simple research and yet you continue to repeat false rumors and lies. You haters are either lazy or immoral depending on your motives here.

The desperation from many Republicans here is almost palatable. Que paso a su fiesta?

It seems conservatives are using the same ole fear & smear campaigning ploys, since they are not offering much in the ways of ideas. Their divisive attempts are simply sad, yet transparently amusing at the same time (i.e. "PUMA"). No wonder I left the Republican Party.

Roger....I admire your intentions to stand for what you believe is right, but I think you have been swollowing the falsehoods put out by the Clinton campaign. Yes, she was the presumptive nominee for a long time, but she lost. Obama got the most votes, delegates, states, etc. Clinton played the race card, the gender card, the tears, etc. No one selected Obama..he won fair and square. I'm sorry your candidate did not win and you are so upset about it, but honestly, I think you are going overboard. You are thinking of Bill's administration and thinking Hill could recreate that time. Look at it logically...Bill was not that great. Our economy was already recovering when he took office and it was fired by the dot com boom not by anything Bill did. Why not help this country out by starting a movement to aleviate this country's debt....set up a donation page specifically for the national debt repayment and ask every citizen to contribute. If we each gave $10.00 it would make a substantial dent.

While I am pleasantly surprised that he has come out against moveon, he could have done this with a vote in the senate but failed to show any leadership by sitting out the vote, just like all the times he voted "present" in Illinois. Moveon is a hate group and should be formally listed as so. No member or supporter of Moveon should ever be allowed to criticize any far right hate group b/c they are the same thing, and the fact that they can't see this shows me how ignorant they are.

If Obama is willing to as you say LJ and "smack the hand that feeds him" then how can you argue "he will say anything to anyone" to get elected?

Obama doesn't do or say anything to anyone, he is willing to disagree strongly, even with those close to him and risk their anger if he feels strongly about something. Moveon is a big organization, but I'm banking that the majority will respect that kind of honesty and keep backing him. I know I will.

Swallowed up in minutae. This kind of silly bickering is not going to help our country one iota.
Either you have loved the last 8 years and will vote for more of the same or you want a chance of something better.
Either you agree with the Republicans (War Mongers) or you want a chance at Diplomatic solutions.
Either you are locked in a time warp or you are looking toward the future.
It doesn't get easier than that.
Obama is our last best chance.
Please don't blow it.

Delta 9:

Are you even aware of the causes of the great depression?
The government did increase taxes but it also decreased government spending which we now know has a dramatic effect on consumption. We raised taxes and effectively decreased consumption by cutting government spending which played a part in the great depression upon numerous other reasons such as the overbuilding in the 20's and a lack of complete understanding of economics. Keynesian's view of economics soon came after the great depression which helped explain some of the causes as well but to insinuate that higher taxes alone led to the great depression displays a lack of knowledge about the causes and the fact that you say more government spending played a part in the great depression when in fact government spending was cut during the great depression as we as a country were more concerned with balanceing the budget and minimizing the debt. Please if people don't know what they are talking about, check your facts before you make posts that are uninformed and biased toward making a point that isn't there.

don't know why I still turn to these comment pages. I keep hoping for discourse, but usually find persons talking past each other; and when someone does respond to another, (s)he usually turns to a personal attack or some other fallacy. I realize this medium is limited; but persons who genuinely care about, and who are capable of democratic discourse have a wonderful opportunity to learn more about others and our political landscape, as well as help others do the same. Let's engage each other more modestly, in hope of finding and promoting truth. For example, is it noble not to vote on a bill one considers politically-motivated? Is it cowardly? Is it something else? And WHY do we think so? I imagine I could learn a lot reading a list of posts modestly proposing answers to these questions and giving reasons why they agree or disagree with the reasons others post.

Now that Obama has used MoveOn through the primary, he is throwing them under the bus. Not that it matters anymore. Obama has bought and paid for the Democratic Party, and where else will Democrats go? It's all about power, and Obama is no more principled than the next guy.

I see American political is destroying a political idealist. Obama is not running for Misiaa, he is running for president and Americans are ruinning out a potential political canadidate by SEVERE questionning his religion (is religion freedon in America? is religion political separated? not for president!!), attacking his races(the truth is white American owe blacks whole lots more), questionning his patriotism, just because he is not white?! speech is not free!

JUST BECAUSE HE IS NOT WHITE SO HE IS BEING QUESTIONNING, DOUBTING, TESTING, TORTUING..... IT IS MORE UNDERSTANDABLE WHAT AMERICAN IS - no more question!!!

Just try to understand Obama's position. I'm sure he has a good reason for doing this, right? I trust him. He's gonna make a great leader for America.

McCain's just gonna be Bush all over again, bringing America's ecomomy, credibility and reputation down.

In Obama's case, just remember that no human is perfect.

The fact that Obama's willing to criticize and/or turn his back on MoveOn.org. is a win/win for him. Most people despise those people and might be moved to now support Obama. As for the move on-ers themselves, they'd rather walk over hot coals than pull the lever for McCain, so their vote is a lock for Obama, no matter how much he disses them.

Obama had better WAKE UP!

Rather than going around giving speeches on patriotism, he had better start making more speeches and television ads pushing the issue of the next President more than likely being able to appoint at least 3, if not 4, justices to the Supreme Court.

If McCain is elected you can be sure he will appoint the most strict, conservative, right-wing justices he can find.

The American people are lazy, apathetic, whiny and complain constatnly, but rather than tear themselves away from the idiot box and reality t.v. shows, getting off the sofa and attending protests, community meetings, writing their Congressman/woman, Senators, etc., they moan and expect someone else to do it.

Unfortuntely, an appointment to the Supreme Court if for life. No matter whether you are too old to know your right hand from your left or even your name, as in the case of William Rehnquist.

It's time Americans put up or shot up and stop whining!

Barrack Obama = Liberal
Liberal = More Goverment Spending
More Goverment Spending = Higher Taxes
Higher Taxes = Less Disposable Income
Less Disposable Income = Economic Recession
I hope you Obama supporters are ready to experience what our grandparents went through in the1920's and 1930's.

Either you are with us or your an enemy. Get on the Barrack bus or get run over. We are about change and if you don't like it then you are against the children, the planet, your country. If you are not a Barrack supporter by now than you are racists.

Change you can believe in. Not sure what change he is talking about and he does not have any record of making drastic changes but if he says it, it must be true.

I don't care about Moveon or the Clintons. Barack Obama is letting valuable time get away while John McCain is talking about issues of trade, energy, oil, etc. Barack Obama needs to start talking issues and stop wasting time answering nonsense topics. He is losing voters because they don't hear him talking about issues. If the Clintons weren't self-serving they would have backed him the day after Hillary conceded, can we be adults!!!!

Obama's speech is pure desperate rhetoric if you look at the anti-American positions taken by Democrats. Shame on you and the Democrats who want to make this country less FREE!

Gene:

"He did have a big misstep though in my opinion… with Gen. Clark… He shouldn't have apologized and rejected his comments. McCain keeps trying to cram his POW status as experience while constantly bashing Obama for not having any experience. Clark was dead on.. there was no apology needed… Obama should have stood up for Clark on that one and asked McCain for a real response.. not a "that's not fair" stamping his little feet response."

I completely agree with your comments on Gen. Wesley Clark. Obama needs to stop apologizing when one of his supporters speaks the truth. Prisoner of war does not equate to military experience, especially a prisoner of war who capitulated to the enemy.
