Barack Obama and wife Michelle bump fists on June 3.

(CNN) — Rest assured America, perhaps Barack Obama has not abandoned his signature fist bump.

It appears Tuesday's pool report — widely reported by several media outlets, including CNN — that Obama refused to bump fists with a child in Ohio was incorrect.

A review of the tape shows the child was instead asking Obama to sign his hand, but the presumptive Democratic nominee declined.

Watch: Obama doesn't decline bumping fists

"Mom might not be happy when she comes home," Obama said. "She'll be like, 'What is the dirt on your hand?'

The fist bump has been done just about everywhere by just about everyone. Its clear that Senator Obama loves his wife and little fist bump every now and then to show support is geat! Husbands and wives try a combination of a peck on the cheek or lips and a fist bump its fun!

Obama for America and America for Obama!

thegoreyears   July 2nd, 2008 3:32 pm ET

You can be sure McCain, who has called his wife the c word, is willing to give Cindy a fist bump, but not the kind the mainstream media is willing to report on, just like it ignores all the other scary McCain stuff, from the Keating Five on down. Experience you can count on? Yup, if you want to watch the country go down in flames.

Belle2   July 2nd, 2008 3:30 pm ET

The fist bump, pound, dap or whatever is not what bothers me about Obama. What I care about is his inexperience and arrogance and the media's focus on him and making him the next President. This story just shows that focus. I mean really—where was the meat in the fist bump story in the first place. Now, that original story is replaced with a more positive one. Who cares? The media needs to dig up everything about Obama's past. Give us a chronology of his political past; tell us about how he managed to disqualify his opponents because he challenged their petitions—or tell us if this story is not true. I don't care where he went to school or if he grew up in a Muslim household; but if you want to put all those rumors to rest, tell us the full story: what school did he attend, what, if any, religion was practiced in his home when he was a child? I don't care about these answers either but the media has a responsibility to vet the candidate and that means telling the story of his childhood, young adult life, political past and leaving no doubt that it is the true story. I would think Obama and all his fans would like the media to do that also. I will not take his word for anything; the one thing we all know for sure is that he is willing to denounce anyone and anything to advance himself and his political future. After all, his white grandmother who, no doubt, paid his tuition in private school (when he returned to this country) was (according to Obama) just a typical white person.

Concerned Citizen, IN   July 2nd, 2008 3:29 pm ET

Okay, I'm a fan of Obama but this is just plain stupid. The "fist bump" is not new. It has been around forever. The fact that Obama does it may prove that he's not a stuffy suite who sits in a tower leaning over his people, but it is not worthy of multiple ticker stories.

Everybody under the age of 30 sees people do this everyday. It's not a "signature" of Obama. This has got to be the stupidest piece of "news" continually generated by the MSM. Raise the bar people.

Willow, from Iowa   July 2nd, 2008 3:26 pm ET

I'd like to see Barack and Michelle do it every time they appear together on stage. I think its cute, and they smile and look into each other's eyes.

Nobody cares. Its big news, but nobody cares.

"Obama's a wishy washy flip-flopper for getting rid of his fist bump! See? He's not fit to be president… oh wait… what? Oh, the kid wanted him to sign his fist, but Obama said no? Uh… well, he's a heartless politician who doesn't care about kids' feelings then!"

Sheesh.

what's wrong with the fist bump? It's used every single day between co-workers, friends, management, executives, etc.

Joe - DC   July 2nd, 2008 3:19 pm ET

You're telling me that someone was concerned enough about the "fist bump" to "review the tape"? Seriously, get a job. I for one am not concerned about fisting in the white house or any other house for that matter. Let the Obamas fist in peace.

Jim   July 2nd, 2008 3:18 pm ET

please write about something significant. like mccain's involvement in Keating Five, Donald Diamond, Vicki Iseman. Something substantial. What are you talking about this for? Ridiculous. Please inform America about the terrible things McCain has done throughout the 149 years he's been in politics. Like consistently voting AGAINST veterans. Seriously folks, keep your eye on the ball. This election is more important than high fives and fist pumps.

The Surly Scholar   July 2nd, 2008 3:17 pm ET

Glad to hear it, but uhh… not news.

Johnny   July 2nd, 2008 3:16 pm ET

Nice to see a retraction and the truth finally coming out of some of the media, but there are 1000+ comments made when everyone thought he "refused a bump".

Maybe this will take months to disprove … just like there are thousands that still think Obama is a muslam, unpatriotic, and just too "black" to be president of the USA.

Where are all of the fact checkers before writing a story and broadcasting world wide…. oh yea.. there arnt any… anymore.

Good luck Obama.. and God speed on winning this election.
Hopefully the economy, the war, the gas prices, and the overall issues that affect the state of the nation will become headliners, instead of this fluff….

James, Redlands, CA   July 2nd, 2008 3:16 pm ET

CNN please don't put yourself in the position of having to reverse rediculous articles like the two of these. It doesn't look good.

This seemed like a silly thing to talk about in the first place and to think that you had to come back and make a correction on what actually happened is worse.

There are actually people who think this superficial stuff has some significance.

fair and balanced   July 2nd, 2008 3:14 pm ET

All the folks from the previous blog about the fist bump, who ridiculed and blasted the man, should get on here and be man/woman enough to say "I am sorry for my comments. I spoke before getting the facts."

Of course you can hide on the internet, so I bet this will not happen.

This is my problem with some sectors of our society. We talk without good information and when we're wrong, we cannot step up and I say, " I was wrong".

No wonder you get the government you have. They are products of the society and there is no one to blame except you.

PUMA-Einsteins really seem to love this “throwing under a bus” analogy; in reference to the first ‘fist bump’ article, as well as previous ones. Someone should throw the PUMA-Einsteins under a bus. Stop the bus. Back up the bus. And drive over the PUMA-Einsteins a second time with the bus.

That's what happens when an actual news investigation is not done. A report is made without checking things out- It's something to be the first to break the story, but it's something else to always report a factual investigated story. Something Tim Russert always called for.

Fist bumps? Let's compare the candidates' platforms. Why does Barack continue to run from a debate with McCain? I know its not as exciting or arrational as a rally, but he could at least humor us with a debate.

Kim, Charlotte, NC   July 2nd, 2008 2:48 pm ET

It is just really sad how all of the networks like to report irrelevant news in the first place. Instead of trying to find out why the price of gasoline is continuing to go up to help the American people, you want to put Barack and his family and friends under a micro scope until the duaration.

But you call yourselves one of "the best politiacl teams on television" everyday.

So sad……………………..

Cindy "STEPFORD WIFE" McCain think she is entitled to the position of First Ladey, just as her "old man" believes he is entitled to the presidency because he was a POW.

McCain is a war hero, served the country with honor, BUT that in no way makes him qualified to be president.

Obama is certainly NOT my choice, I would have rather had Hillary considering they are the only two we had a chance of getting, but I'm willing to give him a chance, as long as he can keep his "mouthy wife" under control.

It’s a sad day for the American people and the ideal of representative democracy when all we are fed from a non-bias “free press” is soviet style puff pieces, and pop culture politics. I’m sure this is all part of a well-orchestrated plan by idealistic PR professionals to “use” their friends in the media to advance a common adjective and plays well to the young and ill informed. I for one have not seen one iota of evidence that Barack Obama is any different then George Bush and in fact when you get him away from his rehearsed speeches is even less articulate. Please bring back investigative reporting and weed out these political hack stories!

that is a great example of how useless our media has become. everyone immediately runs a NON-story, then someone does that pesky little thing known as FACT CHECKING, and they're proven wrong.

problem is, it's very damaging, b/c there are so many stupid americans out there who already think obama is a muslim terrorist, and now the terrorist fist jab story is planted in their feeble brains once again! the mainstream media has become the brain for too many americans who just blindly believe whatever their told by someone in a suit, like all those hate-monger fools at FOX!

OK first of all it's called a pound, not a "fist bump." Second, I guarentee you, there is not a person in this country under the age of 25 that has never done this, so it's not his "signature move," and no, ED Hill, it's not a "terrorist fist bump" either. It's like seeing two politicians high five each other and saying, "Oh my God what sort of gang sign was that?!?" Millions of Americans do this every day, hence, this is not news….

I am a Democrat! I am not happy with any of the choices we had for a nominee, I cannot stand Ms. "Mouth" Obama, BUT PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE remember that the next president will get to possibly appoint as many as 3 Justices on the Supreme Court and we do NOT want that president to be John McCain.

Please read the article entitled "WRONG WAY MCCAIN", by Sen. Joe Biden in the JUNE 30, 2008 issue of the "Legal TImes".

That alone is enough reason NOT to vote for McCain.

Allheart72   July 2nd, 2008 2:32 pm ET

Never in a million years did I think that this would be the source of so much discussion. It is just modern way of greeting someone. In this case this is equivalent to a high five between two power forwards that make up a winning team.

Don't be afraid of change.

Xavier, Washington DC   July 2nd, 2008 2:32 pm ET

This just in. Obama says "God bless you" to a sneezing supporter. Do we really have to highlight everything he does? Look, I've been down with Barack since he was a longshot for the Democratic nomination for the Illinois seat in the U.S. Senate, but you guys are way past ridiculous with covering his every move or non move. CNN, give it a rest.

Lisa Step   July 2nd, 2008 2:31 pm ET

So, if the other story (about Sen Obama "refusing" to fist bump a kid in Ohio) is incorrect, why is it still in the cue on cnn.com?! C'mon, CNN — if the story has been shown to be inaccurate, pull it from the web site!

Relatedly — two different stories, two different sets of poll numbers re: folks' first impressions of Mrs. Obama and Mrs. McCain — Couldn't somebody do a little reportage on whose polls they are, explain the different outcomes and their meaning… Weave it together a little and get rid of the LEADING HEADLINES! One story is basically neutral, the other — with similar poll numbers — is touted as "Michelle Obama in trouble."

CNN — are you reporting and analyzing the news, or trying to DIRECT it?

Oh! The Irony   July 2nd, 2008 2:31 pm ET

I can't understand why the media has made a playful gesture between Barack and his wife into such a negative central story (terroristic fist jab). How 'bout I'm glad Barack jabs his wife's fist instead of McCain who has a history of simply jabbing his wife.

The gesture showed me that they have a real and affectionate relationship…not one comprised for political gain (Clintons) or money and power (McCains).

The press seems very eager to make everything a negative……better check out facks before going to press……………………

Hillary Girl   July 2nd, 2008 2:29 pm ET

Well, at least he knows his Autograph is a waste of space.

Jacob   July 2nd, 2008 2:29 pm ET

"his signature fist bump" Really CNN? Really? Is that all you have now? Attributing adjectives to people greeting each other?

When can we stop making up news and start reporting it?

Charlie, Philadelphia   July 2nd, 2008 2:29 pm ET

OK, I'm voting for Obama, I think he'll beat McCain this November. I like staying up to date with news concerning this upcoming election.

But in all honesty, can we please stop reporting about this fist bump stuff? They didn't invent it, it's been done before, some politicians choose to shake hands and hug others, Obama prefers the fist bump. Who cares?!?!?!

Kingsley Okere   July 2nd, 2008 2:28 pm ET

Obama remains the man. However I should think that we all must realize he is human and not an angel. What America should desire is one that can bring real change to their lives and politics and surely Obama is the man.

John in Ohio   July 2nd, 2008 2:27 pm ET

I can't be the only one who wishes CNN, MSNBC, FOX, etc, would stop covering the elections. At least until the conventions. The desire to fill 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with "news" has led to a lot of really lame and pointless stories getting published, worthless fluff pieces that nobody really needs to know about. How about you networks get back to covering the [expletive] war already?

Teddy California   July 2nd, 2008 2:27 pm ET

I think it is perfect acceptable for Obamas to do that on their own. But why should we learn from them? Hign-five works fine and why should we adopt this trivial change? This is insignificant, superficial change. My daughters said they did not like fisting each other. I hope we do not have to learn how to do that in Obama's way. But please also leave Obama alone on these trivial things.

Doris,Memphis,TN   July 2nd, 2008 2:27 pm ET

That's right Senator Obama teach the kids to shake hands with
the President. They can fist bump with their friends!

unions are not stupid   July 2nd, 2008 2:26 pm ET

Oh my we really need a completely new media outlet that sets up and abides by ethics standards, the press is on of the most important checks and balances we have in our democracy and it is so badly corrupted by greed that while the politicians will say and do anything for a vote the media will say and do anything for a audience

Marc PDX   July 2nd, 2008 2:26 pm ET

"Terrorism Fears Are Fading"… in another article today on CNN…

……… dum-de-dum……….

Who cares! Senator Obama’s best idea is his fist bump.

Is this the best the Democrats can do?

No, we won’t!

Democrats for McCain!

Nicole in NE   July 2nd, 2008 2:26 pm ET

The media made a mountain out of a molehill and people take the bait - BIG surprise!

Obama 08′

John, Las Vegas, NV   July 2nd, 2008 2:25 pm ET

Whoa, what happened to the headline about concerns about her image based on this poll? Did the Obama campaign get to you and complain about the unfavorable image that heading gave, causing you to change it sound much more positive? Whatever happened to journalistic independence???

Dwight "Hussien" Eisenhower   July 2nd, 2008 2:25 pm ET

OK CNN … This ticker needs to take it up a notch or two.

I didn't even read the first blog because I could feel the Obama-Haters talking about how the Senator scared this child for life because he wouldn't give him a "pound".

No I read that you didn't even get this fluff story correct.

I want to hear about McCain's detailed plan for Iraq for the next 4 years including US troop levels, Iraqi troop levels, Iraqi government structure, elections & self determination. How about that, hmmm?

tai   July 2nd, 2008 2:25 pm ET

WOW, Thanx for letting me know CNN, really made me a little bit dumber with these type of nonsense stories.

Vincent from Ireland   July 2nd, 2008 2:24 pm ET

Wow, are you guys journalists, or pretenders like the National Enquirer? In your zeal to smear Obama, apparently you lost touch with those funny little things called facts.

Get a clue.

Cathy in MD   July 2nd, 2008 2:24 pm ET

I’m so relieved! I was gonna switch my vote to McCain since Obama had abandoned his signature fist bump, but I hear John and Cindy do this weird thing with their toes and it kinda ooged me, so … well, I’m just really glad I can still vote for Obama. Thanks, CNN!

On_fiayah   July 2nd, 2008 2:22 pm ET

awww. that was too cute.

RocketScience - chicago, illinois   July 2nd, 2008 2:22 pm ET

And this is news why?

saga4obama   July 2nd, 2008 2:22 pm ET

Obama does it better

Tim Hutchins   July 2nd, 2008 2:22 pm ET

Right! BO is not man enough to look a person in the eye and shake his hand — old stuff, I guess, that he has to "change"?

Katerina Ivanovna   July 2nd, 2008 2:21 pm ET

This is ridiculous. I know this is a blog, but still… can you report on the important issues that differ one candidate from the other?

puff   July 2nd, 2008 2:21 pm ET

OK, now I have heard everything. He even feels he needs to revise an old story about him. Give us a break NObama, you cannot please all of us all of the time and you look like a girlee man just trying. Why don't you go away and save yourself the trouble? Keep in mind you were selected NOT elected. The people just do not want you and your mean wife.
PUMA

Is this for real   July 2nd, 2008 2:21 pm ET

I know yall want to correct your other paparazzi story but really this is hardly news. Maybe yall should stop rushing to add stuff on this ticker and do a fact checker first. Gossip should not make the webpage of the self proclaimed “Best political team in television”

Zach   July 2nd, 2008 2:20 pm ET

I know you guys are a 24-hour tabloid (oops I meant "media outlet"), but is there not enough going on in the World for you to stop continuously reporting on such ridiculous things?

I mean really I'm more interested in how Obama takes his coffee, how often he gets a haircut, what kind of underwear does he wear, and does his favorite color change on a daily basis with his mood or maybe the issues he discusses. For example, hazy brown for our polluted environment, dark red for the US financial crisis, or a mixture of red, white, and blue for the flag that drapes the coffins of the only soldiers "coming home" from Iraq?

Why have we had George W. Bush as President for the last 8 years? AN UNEDUCATED, UNINFORMED ELECTORATE!!! Just want thank you, CNN, for your contribution! Of course, I'm sure I wasn't the first to extend my gratitude. I suppose I have to stand in line behind large corporations, the GOP, and most of all Dubba!

Natalie   July 2nd, 2008 2:20 pm ET

Ha! That shows all those fools who made snide comments about Obama on the other blog that you shouldn't believe everything you hear! Obama is a great guy (& parental figure)!

Obama/Clinton '08

THIS IS YOUR FAULT   July 2nd, 2008 2:18 pm ET

1001 people responded to your false reporting of earlier today on this subject. You should be ashamed of yourselves as a so called media outlet. Real journalists check facts before releasing these things. Is CNN the new Fox?

HRC3655   July 2nd, 2008 2:18 pm ET

Same comment as before, Bill should have fist bumped BO in the head. Obama is egotistical with no respect for women.

carlo   July 2nd, 2008 2:17 pm ET

The media is full of total incompetents. Are they so desparate to get a story on Obama that they get overexcited and just invent stuff up? Who would risk cutting a child's hand for a signature?

RJ from NJ   July 2nd, 2008 2:17 pm ET

I'm delighted that this earth-shaking controversy is finally settled.
The world is at peace.

jim   July 2nd, 2008 2:17 pm ET

The bottom line is the media are morons……….

USAF Staff Sergeant   July 2nd, 2008 2:17 pm ET

Well well well……… now let's all get in an uproar about THIS.

1,000 posts on the article about the fist bump being gone was pathetic.

Please Think   July 2nd, 2008 2:17 pm ET

Haha…just proves that if there is no news, the MSM will make up the news. All over a fist bump/hand signature request? I guess the silly season is running longer than expected this year.

OBAMA '08

John   July 2nd, 2008 2:16 pm ET

If true, this is good news. I was afraid that the silly fuss over the fist-bumping in June was making Barack's handlers squeamish about him doing it again. Which would have raised the question: If they can't deal with something so minor, what kind of serious "change" could we expect from an Obama administration?

Terri   July 2nd, 2008 2:16 pm ET

I agree with Barack…this is a natural thing ..just as a handshake, when it becomes political a political symbol…call it a day!!

BV   July 2nd, 2008 2:15 pm ET

Keep on bumping Michelle. You are one of the most accomplished woman of this time. I don't doubt your patriotism in the least. You wouldn't be standing where you are today if you didn't appreciate and respect this country.
Here is the sad thing. There are people in this country that can't believe that a black woman could be where you are today. They have to find something wrong with the picture because it doesn't fit what they have grown so willingly to favor. Truthfully, you dispell their beliefs. You bring out their frustrations as you blow their belief system to pieces. How could you be where you are today when they are still sitting on their hind ends spewing hatred and anger. People are often born into a belief system spawned by their parents. As generations progress we are seeing changes in the way people think. It is a good thing and the outside world is just hammering to see where we go with this. You represent the change that this country needs to stand tall again. Please keep your efforts going for those of us who are optimistic about a better future.

Len in Washington   July 2nd, 2008 2:15 pm ET

Hmmmm….seems you guys need to run your stories through "Factcheck.org" before you print them.
Where's your editor…Eh?

Michael Lorton, Virginia   July 2nd, 2008 2:14 pm ET

Pot-stirring pandering again….CNN must think that their viewers are idiots…..I heard the other day that Obama could walk across the Potomac river……CNN's twist……..Obama can't swim. You are getting as interesting as Jack Cafferty…..who doesn't post comments that are not interesting………that because his questions are as interesting as the answers. Give me something to sink my keyboard fingers on.

Boye   July 2nd, 2008 2:14 pm ET

And a lot of people jumped the gun.

Sad   July 2nd, 2008 2:14 pm ET

Prize winning artical CNN! Truly you guys have talent and should continue at your current jobs!

Mike   July 2nd, 2008 2:14 pm ET

Oh thank god!

ShayFad   July 2nd, 2008 2:14 pm ET

That's right CNN, Get it right.
If you're going to make an issue out of a NON_ISSUE.
At least get it right.
Stop giving these Karl Rove worshipers something to bicker about.

Alice   July 2nd, 2008 2:12 pm ET

glad to hear it — the "fist bump" decline was stupid . . .

Sandy   July 2nd, 2008 2:11 pm ET

Obama knows that any little sweet thing He does may get turned around to be ugly. Obama Sweety just do you.

Jordan, NY   July 2nd, 2008 2:11 pm ET

It breaks my heart to see this broiling controversy shut down so soon. What will we read about for the next 24 hours? Any news about what the Senator is wearing on his lapel today? Is his dad still from Kenya? Maybe Michelle wore a white dress, because we ALL know what THAT would mean.

Or maybe we'll just have to read about the thoughtful and efficacious policy that Senator Obama has proposed to combat the watered down, republican agenda Mr. McCain's been touting.

Marc PDX   July 2nd, 2008 2:10 pm ET

Yaaawwwwwwwwwwnnnnn!

Loretta from California   July 2nd, 2008 2:10 pm ET

Well, I certainly hope not!!! I think our Children CAN identify with it.

After all, it's just another way to "High five" someone, or to say "job well done" or "do your best"

DEMOCRATS UNITE!!!!

Lynn   July 2nd, 2008 2:09 pm ET

It reminds me what my teenage grandchildren might do. Not Presidential at all. CNN you should change your name to ONN - Obama News Network.

Jaime   July 2nd, 2008 2:08 pm ET

Again, who cares?

Lapel pins, hands over hearts, fist bumps, who cares?

Dee   July 2nd, 2008 2:08 pm ET

The fist bump or a Terrorist fist jab? LOL…. glad that got that lady fired. Unlike the Japenese monkey, I think that was totally intentional. I think the Japanese should be cut some slack though. It's not the first time that they have misunderstood American culture. Check out Snoopes.com for Santa Cross. Apparently, Japenese stores were selling a smiling Santa Claus nailed to a cross during Christmas time. Of course, America is not immune to these cultural faux paus. An American company recently lost a 68 million dollar contract because of a gross cultural misunderstanding. Remember the AT&T commercial where the American business man calls the Japenese VIP a fish? lol…..these things really happen.

Jackson   July 2nd, 2008 2:08 pm ET

I love my CNN, 24 hour news, and internet but this shows the type of irresponsible journalism this type of media tends to bring. While it does indeed serve a wonderful (and addicting) purpose, some issues get widely circulated and criticized before enough investigative journalism happens that either confirms or denies the report.

Chyrel Wallace-Jackson   July 2nd, 2008 2:07 pm ET

I am really disappointed in the way news is being reported lately on this blog. This is ridiculous. Americans are paying almost $5.00 a gallon for gas, foreclosures of homes are at an all time high, the economy is tanking as we speak and you guys are reporting on a non-issue fist bump story. My goodness, wouldn't it be refreshing to read real news worthy stories about the presidential candidates on this blog.

Mary   July 2nd, 2008 2:07 pm ET

The fist bump was a childish gesture in the first place. The Obamas need to grow up.

KJ, GA   July 2nd, 2008 2:06 pm ET

This is just funny. I love Obama and it seems the media is enthralled with everything Obama, positive or negative. I guess it's better than not that they find Obama so fascinating,t hese are non-issues for anyone else.

Thanks for the laugh, CNN!

Grand Tabo   July 2nd, 2008 2:06 pm ET

I like the fist bump…. but i really don't know why it's such a big deal.

saga4obama   July 2nd, 2008 2:06 pm ET

aww man…come on CNN….
who will McCain serve?
the big oil companies that he took $1,069,854.00 from?
the Lobbyist that work for him:WAYNE BERMAN,ERIC BURGESON, FRANK DONATELLI, REBECCA ANDERSON, CHARLIE BLACK, NANCY PFOTENHAUER, RANDY SCHEUNEMANN to name a few?
what America is John working for?
Pastor Hagey…"attack Iran", Farwell,Rob Parsley "we get off on warfare", Lowell Paxson?
what America does John represent?
worth over $100,000,000.00, 10 homes, country club, privilege( because of his father and grandfather he was able to escape the findings of the incident that took place aboard the USS Forrestal- 167 US soldiers killed by McCains wet starting his plane 1967).

why did decorated officer Jack McLamb report that POWs say McCain is a traitor, calling him "songbird McCain"? may be if John would release his Military Reports we would find the truth…WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO HIDE JOHN?

Obama 08 12

Jim in S.C.   July 2nd, 2008 2:06 pm ET

Absurd reporting. Let's compare the candidates' platforms. Why does Barack continue to run from a debate with McCain? I know its not as exciting or irrational as a rally, but he could at least humor us with a debate.

Jim from IL   July 2nd, 2008 2:04 pm ET

You people leave Obama alone. You are making him change every time you complain about him. How is he supposed to win an election when you are forcing him to change. He cannot be everything to everyone at the same time!!!!!

Well Informed Voter   July 2nd, 2008 2:04 pm ET

I am more interested in the speech he gave today at Colorado Spring please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Michael   July 2nd, 2008 2:04 pm ET

Too bad. We don't need alternative greetings. A handshake does very nicely for a President.

Republican for Obama   July 2nd, 2008 2:04 pm ET

Ok, I have to say this: How on earth did so many papers/journalists NOT hear that the first time? Did they have a predetermined agenda when they woke up?

This is in fairness to both McCain and Obama camps: If an error so easy as this is made (honestly, how could it possibly get twisted into "He won't fist bump with a child"?) then I am truely skeptical of how professional these journalists are (in all media, becuase it was reported by more then just CNN).

Journalists, you really need to check on your professionalism when reporting to the public, you should be ashamed of yourselves for letting this one get by.

Jordan   July 2nd, 2008 2:03 pm ET

I like the fistbump. I think it shows a casual Obama and brings him down to a level where average Americans can relate. I think in a way, it's humbling.

Wow...   July 2nd, 2008 2:03 pm ET

*sight of relief*

Thanks for clearing that up CNN, America was worried…

At least fox news will have something to talk about for a few days!! Made up news, the Fox way!

rumpusgoopus   July 2nd, 2008 2:02 pm ET

And yet the media was so gung ho about reporting the false story, which was meaningless to begin with. Shocking.

Greg, NY   July 2nd, 2008 1:59 pm ET

Oh, whew! I was so worried!

Now I'll certainly be able to sleep tonight.
